Although I did not find what I was looking for, I have to say that the workers were very helpful. The cashier noticed that I looked a little confused while searching for a particular type of water bottle. Rather than just telling me where to find the item, she called another employee to help me find what I was looking for. I think this happened because the store was pretty empty during my visit. Even though I did not find what I was looking for, this Dick's location is HUGE and pretty much has everything sporting need that one might need. I've stopped by this Dick's a few times and always found what I was looking for. Today I want to single out Natalie in the shoe department. I dropped in last week to check out a couple of different brands, and she helped me. She knew all the different products extremely well, advised well on sizing, had oodles of patience to answer my questions, and had memorized what was (and was not) in inventory. She was helpful in every way possible, and not at all pushy. There were a few other customers, and Natalie had the department to herself, but she managed to keep up with all of us without ever seeming to be in a hurry. Wow! Ordered online for pick up before store opened at 10am and about an hour later it was ready for pick up. We were on our way to a Volleyball try out so just needed to dash in and dash out. I went directly in and clearly marked in store was the pick up area. Two associates were busy and then all of a sudden I was greeted by another associate who then asked if he could help. I mentioned a pick up order and he quickly went around counter to get it. Confirming my name etc. He was very professional, friendly and efficient. I don't understand the negative reviews for this wonderful store. I've shopped here for years and the products are always high quality and a great selection. I especially want to give a big shout-out to Sebastian in footwear. I needed something special under referral of a podiatrist. Sebastian was so knowledgeable, I was blown away. 3/6/21 This place is okay. I saw a shirt I liked, but it appears The Rock isn't selling the kind of shirt I want. When you see the photos of his shirts, he is working out in a black sleeveless shirt with a navy blue Brahma Bull logo. I think this shirt was one of his first in his clothing line. This store doesn't sell it now. All the other stuff I looked at wasn't as appealing to me. Still the service I received was good even if some staff members looked bored. The person who handled my pick up, "Malik," greeted me as I parked before I could even pull up the E-mail to signal I was there. He greeted me in a genuinely friendly manner, which is extremely rare in retail. I gave him my information and he returned promptly with my order. He verified the placement of the item in the trunk, thanked me, and wished me well as the hand-off was completed. He was wearing a mask and gloves, which was comforting. Malik went above and beyond in helping me. I would have been satisfied even without his quick and friendly service, which is what I usually experience from other retail workers. I stopped in to the store for an exchange and was thoughtful met by Leah who had pulled several options for me to choose from. This store is big and pretty well organized, even with the xmas rush, which was awesome! I was in and out of the store within 10 minutes. Free fist boxes that you could pick up on your way out. Went here to get worms for my pet to eat. When I opened the bait fridge, I was greeted with a rancid smell. This is how almost all the nightcrawlers looked. The ones that were alive looked very skinny and useless. Perhaps the worst part is that I went here about a month ago and the worms were like this even then. A few easy things. There is a parking lot for Dick's right in front. Big deal? Yes because it's a store in a mall and the location of the parking prevents a mall walk. A nice win if you don't want to deal with a mall. The staff, when you could get someone's attention, seem to be helpful; at least they helped me. I've never been a fan of Dick's because they are so very expensive. That was still the case. If I hadn't been given a gift card I wouldn't have gone. They used to had a larger selection of "Fan" items, like hockey jerseys. This store had next to nothing so I left with things I sort of needed, but not what I wanted. Alas, it is a Dicks and you are going to get exactly the experience you expect. read more

Drove out of my way for a terrible and pointless experience. Called the brand new NE DC store to find out if they could put new line on a fishing reel. After being on hold for 5 minutes while she went and asked someone who knew what that was. After a few minutes she came back and said they don't do that at this store. So next I called this store in Wheaton and was quickly told yes they can put new line on fishing reels. I live a few miles from the store in NE but since they aren't equipped to do anything meaningful I had to drive 40 minutes to this store to get reel put on my line. As I was walking through the store I asked where the fishing line was and where would I go get new line on my reel. At this time I was informed that the person who puts line on reel is only there in the mornings. So I was immediately pissed after driving 40 minutes for a wasted trip. I asked the associate, why in a large sporting good store located in a shopping mall would there only be 1 person who can put line on a fishing reel and why would that person only work in the morning when most of the population is at work. She had no answer so I withheld my anger and walked away. Trying to salvage my trip I convinced myself to buy line and re-spool myself. Went to the aisle for fishing line. Looked through the braided line and quickly noticed that they only had a few different kinds of line and they had took those same packages and spread them out among all the hooks to make the section look full, so that was a fail. I convinced myself to stock up on more hooks for my trip. Hook aisle was worse than the line aisle. No one even bothered to spread hooks out to fill the shelves they just left it bare. Maybe I will get new fishing gloves, none in sight. FAIL! As I was walking through the aisles looking for these items many store personnel strolled past me and no one offered or asked if I needed help with anything even when it was quite evident that I was searching for something. The aisles in the fishing section are super small. They are just wide enough for the cart to pass through. One aisle near the gun section counter was too small for the cart to pass through. This store is terrible, the selection is terrible, and the employees who are there during evening hours are of no help. After multiple bad experiences in the brand new NE DC store and now this I am beginning to think that Dicks as an entire chain is terrible. Wish we had more sporting good options in DC without having to go out to Arundel Mills to Bass Pro or Anglers near the Bay Bridge. read more

I called ahead for a all black women brooks sneakers. The associate told me they had them and was they would be held. When I get there they have no recollection of me ever calling. The associate who was helping me in the shoe dept was outstanding. He went from the back of the store to all the registers in the front of the store trying to see if the shoes was on hold. When he came back they wasn't and they did not have my size. I ended up finding a similar shoe that was the same brand it wasn't all failed. But I was very disappointed because I wanted what I called for. I get my shoes and as I'm heading to the register I see some Nike Fanny packs. I asked associate her name started with an L she was of Spanish ethnicity maybe her name was Lorena or something like that dark hair short in stature. I asked her did they have other colors maybe black she brushed me off very rudely and just said no that's all we have very rude. It took me back because I only asked her one question. When I got to the register she rung me up. She did not put my shoes in a bag I asked for a bag. This young lady was nasty again and said 5 cents. I had no issue with paying the 5cents but it was the way she said it. As I am leaving she said something about me very nasty and rude to one of her coworkers. I'm only giving two stars because the other associate was very polite and professional. ***I WILL NOT BE BACK*** AND WOULD ADVISE OTHERS NOT TO GO THERE EITHER. read more

Dick's is the appropriate name for this store. No clothing sizes larger than 2x. Me being a 3x and muscular, it's frustrating to hear anything larger than 2x is a special order. Frankly 2x ain't that big and if they going to cater to the extra small size (which they clearly do) then I consider them not carrying larger than 2x in the same way to be size discrimination. read more

Well I love Dick's! (insert rude comment here) Clean, well-stocked and friendly. Most of the staff are very well-trained, polite and helpful. If you find one who isn't, then just walk around the corner and find someone who is. They are always sending me coupons via email. Also, when you make a purchase you get the chance to do an online survey to save $10 off a $50 purchase. The other day I bought some weights for $40 and then picked out a $10 water bottle for free, because of the coupon. Only negative is that they carry guns. Please don't carry guns, Dick's. I don't mind Dick's in my neighborhood but the only guns I want are the ones that come from using those weights I bought. read more

Somewhat more complete and upscale as compared to Sports Authority, more suburban than Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World. The only caveat about this big box is that the staff density is pretty thin - I never did find anyone in the bike department to answer my question. read more

It's nice to have a large, clean store here in Wheaton. They have a great selection of brands in clothing and shoes and a HUGE selection of local team apparel whether it be pro or college. It is a clean store organized similarly to other big box type sporting good stores and they run great sales. Customer service seems to be a recurring theme in this area. You get young employees who aren't all that knowledgeable and a bit disinterested. read more

The first visit was okay I Spend more than $200 and the cashier very nice com bands me to sign up for the dick's credit card To get double reward point following week I went back and ISP $485 I couldn't used the dicks credit card because a the point I haven't received it yet but the cashier told me to pay with my credit card and when I received dicks credit card to bring the receipt and dicks card to switch it over so I can get my double point two days later I received the card and I went back to the store we did card & receipts the cashier no clue what I was telling her she call the manager on duty I wait for almost 40 minutes to tell me he cannot do it.. I had a very pleasant shopping experience here yesterday. There were numerous associates around to help, and all were pleasant. I had particularly positive interactions with Philip, Danielle, Sidney, Antonio and Michelle (manager) when I asked for questions or help. I also had my service dog with me and everyone was very nice to her and non-judgmental. I felt as if I were a valued customer and would absolutely come back here for my sporting goods needs. Very disappointed in Dicks shoe department. They have one person trying to help 10 people. No one else comes to help. It took 10 minutes to barely grab the employee to ask for one pair of shoes. They don't fit and I ask for a different size. He disappears and goes to a different part of the department. I track him down 10 minutes later and he says he is still looking. I bought a pair of the Nike Pegasus 34 running sneakers for the sale price of $100. Great shoes and have always liked them. However, I found the same sneaker on sale for $65.00 a pair on the Nike.com website so I returned the $100 sneaker the next day and bought several from the Nike website and save a ton of money. I dont particularly like the shopping format when I go into a DSG store. Before i would just go in and pick multiple pairs of shoes and fit them myself. Now I have to stand there and wait for someone to locate the correct shoe in the correct size for me. Of course, there is usually only one person to assist a crowed of 5 to 6 people. We had a very good experience here recently. We brought our 9 year old son here to select some baseball gear. Jabari helped us choose which was the right product. He was very helpful and listened well to our needs and listened to our son respectfully. He did not try to steer us to the most expensive version. He let our son try on some of the catcher's equipment out of the box, etc. It made a big difference to get that individual attention. Should i just also say our son LOVES this store because of all the baseball stuff anyway? It was great to get good service too. read more

Wasn't sure what to give them. But just yesterday I bought a workout bench set. One was on sale for 90$ (last set was on display and broken). They didn't have anymore in Stock so I opted for the 109$ also on sale but was a much better bench set. In the workout section they had the workout manager, Brandon helped me. Terrible everything I had questions about and prices he acted if I was stupid. Dumbed down everything, we look young but we were 21+ On top of that he got me the wrong bench set to take home, over charged me. I noticed this when I got home and set it up. The width of the bar was short. That bench was a 90$ bench wasn't even the same one on sale! And he charged me 119$! On top of that it didnt fit all in my car because we also bought weights. So we had my friends car to put in. Brandon he pushed the box in the car and it scratched the leather on my friends center console. We went back that night and complained. Luckily we spoke to the store manager Dan. He was nice and apologized for his ignorant employee. Overall, service was ok. I don't recommend talking to Brandon about the workout materials there. Best thing if it does happen, please double check the price and serial number under the barcode. Just a warning. read more

Customer service is sadly lacking. It appears that there are a number of mgrs. walking around, but what the store lacks is experienced cashiers to get you checked out quickly. I purchased an item on one visit, and returned a mail order item on another visit. Each transaction took 20+ minutes to complete (b/c there was a person in front of me with an issue, and no one else stepped in to help anybody else in line, though in one case there were 3 store personnel involved in one transaction, and in the other two store personnel were involved). I'll go back to Sports Authority b/c even though it's further from my home, it's less hassle. While the store is attractive, I have walked through to go into the mall on at least a half-dozen occasions, and there are few customers. If this place doesn't shape up, it will be gone in a heartbeat! read more

I bought a bike from this location with the protection package. I went to Dick's because I thought I could rely on them to have the knowledge to cover all my bases. My bike was stolen. It turned out they filled out my receipt wrong so the serial number is not on it. They no longer have my receipt in the store, so they can not even look at the original and they have no way of finding my serial number. Not to mention the protection plan never was processed even though I did everything on my end. While they did not steal my bike, they failed me 3 times. First they did not fill out my receipt correctly. Second they never processed my protection plan, even though I did everything correctly on my end. Third they did not keep a copy of my receipt in the store despite it being their policy, so when the police called them, they told the police I must have bought it at a different store. To which the police responded well I am looking at a copy of a receipt from your store. Whatever you do do NOT buy a bike from the Wheaton Dick's and expect them to do anything other than fail you. Oh and when I went into the store their response was well that sucks, there is nothing we can do. I get that they didn't steal my bike but their negligence means that even if my bike is found the police cannot return it. read more
