I wish I had caught the name of the associate who handled my recent return here because she is single-handedly the reason why I will never step foot in this location again. She is in dire need of customer service training and it wasn't until I shared with her that I was getting married in two days that she cracked a hint of a smile. But not before she made me feel guilty for my return ruining her day, week, and seemingly her summer. The Sporting Goods industry is a niche industry that can unfortunately be purchased in any other retail environment. In fact, the shoes that I were returning were originally purchased online (and only through Dick's because they had my nephew's two sizes). Bought a Stanley here yesterday paid with a credit card I return it the next day and they give me cash I later tried to deposit it turns out it was fake. DONT PAY CASH OR ACCEPT CASH HERE IF YOU PAID WITH CARD THE WORKERS ARE HANDING BACK FAKE CASH. Went through a whole ordeal with the manager and they tried to pass it on as if we were scamming them. The return policy's specifically states the return is made back through the same payment so why the cashier decided to give cash seems they didn't want to get in trouble for taking fake 20s and had to get rid of them. Dick's sporting goods is well organized, has a great selection and the service is great. They provide staff in every department to assist, unlike other sporting goods stores that you have to chase down a staff member for assistance. Dressing rooms are in the middle of the store which is also a plus so men and women or children can easily access. Great productive, competitive pricing and selection. Called into the store and they told me they had a selection of football cards left. When I came in, they had nothing, pretty much shows you the level of service and detail they provide at this location. Easier to order on amazon. All they had to do was simply look in the location that they keep the sports cards and they would have saw they do not have any in stock. Or they could have checked their computerized inventory and saved me a trip. Instead they insisted on giving me attitude in store. They had a number of free workers walking around doing absolutely nothing at all. When I asked for the workers name who took my phone call he quickly walked in the back. Either they were understaffed or perhaps the they were almost nowhere to be found except at the cash register or in the back. When they were present, they were nice. However, 4 out of the 5 staff members we interacted with were undertrained - either they had no idea on how to do a certain thing or don't know where to go for it. For example, they don't know how to do paperwork on a certain item that I was about to purchase. He had to ask his manager every 2 seconds what to do or where to go. He was nice and patient but you can clearly see that he is under-trained. Also, when I ask for help, 3 of them told me that they will find someone who will on 3 different occasions. I waited at least 15 minutes for each and none of them returned to let me know someone was on the way or whether I should wait a bit longer; they simply disappeared. Even at the checkout, there is no standard procedure as to how one employee transfers the filled out paperwork to the cashier. And the cashier has no idea where to look for it. In addition, the cashier does not know HOW to scan a barcode on the product without the supervisor do it. The supervisor was the ONLY one that knew anything about something and she ended up checking us out. We spent wayyy too much time unnecessarily waiting and for staff to have no idea what they are doing. CONCLUSION: Not very good customer service, highly understaffed, and when you find an employee, he or she undertrained and has no idea how to do anything. read more

We had a great experience! We ordered a treadmill for curbside pick up. It was a very smooth. The store employee rolled it out and even helped my husband lift it into our van. I had just left Big 5, the staff their was beyond rude so I drove to Dick's to hopefully find what I needed (Soccer gear for my son) Deven helped us & went above & beyond, He not only helped me order cleats online for him but he also went out of his way to show me other things he would need & even explained how to put them on properly & the exchange policy incase they didn't work out. Checking out Nathaniel helped us & he was great too! Great attitude & service! I was not in the best mood after the horrible experience with Big 5, but once I arrived here I was very happy with the service the staff provided! I spent more money than I planned but it didn't bother me at all because the service was worth it! If I could give Zero stars I truly would. ZERO. Tuesday we looked online, found the bike but it wasnt available at the closest store. So we purchased the bike from a store that has them "in stock". With the hope that we could pick it up Saturday. The bike is a birthday gift for our grandson this Monday. We recieved the confirmation email. In that email it says, "Pick Up In Store Please wait to receive the ready for pick up email before going to the store!" Well two days later, not recieving the email yet and knowing that the bike was being built, I decided to click on a view status button. Another window pops open and it looks like a standard email....but then I see the status: cancelled. I immediately call to find out why was it cancelled. The young lady that answered was very dismissive at first. She said you should have recieved a cancellation email and it probably went to your spam and you havent seen it. I explained to her that I have recieved plenty of emails from your company, why would that one particualr email go to spam. She continued to explain the reason it was cancelled was because the bike it out of stock at that store. If that was the case, why was I allowed to purchase the bike? I told her, if I had not clicked on that status button, I would not have known the order was cancelled until I called the store on Saturday, to find out the status. Very Bad buisness practices! I've learned my lesson, staying away from your box store and i'm now shopping at a local bike store. I may pay more, but thats the price the consumer pays for good customer service. It's bad enough the Dick's is really the only game in town, but to have no choice but to shop there for sporting goods and still have such incredibly poor customer service is infuriating. They are terribly understaffed, the shoe department never has anyone available to help. When they are there you can tell they could care less about being there to help you. They should go back to the old set up which was self service. They thought they were cute by putting automated stations where you can scan your shoe and a customer service agent would bring it out for you, but they never work. How is it that this location has entire superstore worth of space but has one tiny corner shared between men & women for cycling/biking clothing? I could extend my arms to encapsulate the width of the area where this location has biking clothing/accessories. It took me close to 10mins to find an employee and when I did y'all didn't have any thing in my size (small/medium). No variety. I got a good deal on golf clubs here at the beginning of the year. What's best is I needed a fitting and hey we're able to do that for free. Taking into account a bad hip and slice (slower swing) they closed up the club faces 2 degrees each. Result? Best performing clubs I've ever owned. Kid at golf dept was very helpful. read more

This place is why brick and mortar stores are dying and truly lives up to its name. Needed shoes for a trip and didn't have time to order online. Came here and found a few pairs I liked. Had to flag down a sales person because the shoe section was a ghost town. Asked if they had a pair in my size. Sales guy says "no." Not "let me help you find something else," just "no." Asked a few more times on different brands, "no, no, no." I finally suggested an alternate size because I really needed something and yay, they had that. Guy goes into the back to grab the box, 10 minutes go by, then 15, then 20. I'm occupying my two year old the entire time. Finally another sales person asks if I'm being helped. I say "yeah, but the guy hasn't come back." As we're talking, the first person walks up and I ask if he ever found the shoes that I've been waiting for. I kid you not his response is "Oh that was you that needed those, yeah we don't have them." He completely forgot and had no intention of coming back! Seriously??? He then recommends I leave and try a different department store that has more shoes in stock. I wasn't rude, I was patient, and I quietly entertained my kid while we waiting for him to come back. The best sports store around! When you have nothing else around you (I live in REDLANDS) you drive 40 mins out of your way to get you kid tee ball gear. The selection blows away its competition, and there's always sales. Only complaints I have, and what stopped me from giving it 5 stars is that some of the staff weren't helpful, but that's was just two people out of the entire store. When my family and I visited this place last week, we noticed some exercise equipment that we intended to use store credit to buy. We tell the guy assisting us about this, and he advises us to proceed to the cashier. We follow his instructions, and when we get there, we tell the woman that we would like to purchase some exercise equipment with store credit. She requests our address and social security number, which we provide, and then informs us that we are not eligible for the credit. It surprised us because we have excellent credit. Today, we called the customer service number to find out why our request was failed, and the woman who answered was really kind and informed us that the reason that we didn't pass was because the lady at the store didn't ask for enough information, and instead of asking us for the missing information, she just submitted it with missing information. I hope the store starts training their employees to do their job fully, instead of doing things half way through. read more

Always been my go to store! Prices are always a bit high but they have what I need for little league coaching. Today a bit disappointed hearing employees dropping F bombs about arranging a new area of hydro flasks with customers, including kids , around them. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. Every time Iv been here the staff are very friendly and helpful. They've answered my questions and helped me find items in a certain color or size I want. Kinda funny but I noticed the last time I was there it was the customers who were rude to me. Cutting me off as I was walking and blocking my path when there was plenty of room to let me get by so maybe it's not the employees that have a problem. I was quite impressed when I walked into the store and there was a greeter kindly asking me if I needed help. I needed my tennis racket restrung and he immediately got on his headset and had someone meet me over in the tennis department. I picked up a pair of strings, was told it would be 5 days to finish, and it only took 2 days. Fantatic! I went to pick up the racket and went to the friendly cashier. I told her I was here to pick up my racket and again she got on her headset and instructed the guy in the tennis dept to bring the racket out. Fantastic customer service and organization! Have the other stores picked up on this walkie-talkie/headset deal? Impressive. Yes, as some of the other folks commented, not super cheap here, but it is a nice store. Bought a bike, brought it home, everything was out of alignment. Derailleurs both front and rear were off, wouldn't go through all gears, brakes loose. Lots of play and loose bolts. They are suppose to go through the whole bike before you can have it. No confidence. The bike went on sale the next day, the only way to get the sale price is to bring the bike in for a full return, then re purchase. If staff is present, they are nice, but good luck with that. read more

Ordered a threadmill for curbside pickup it was such a smooth easy process. As soon as we parked someone was there to assist us. They helped us load the threadmill in the truck . It was bigger than we expected but Kyle was so awesome and helped us with getting ties because we didn't have any. Kyle even helped and showed us how to tie down the threadmill in the truck. I go to a Dick's closer to home and I love it, the staff are so helpful, but that was NOT my experience here. I know it's the holidays and the stores are busy, but they seemed sufficiently and had staff at the registers and on the floor. I needed compression pants and the cashier called on the walkie and I waited for about 5 minutes and asked again and he said that no one answered on the walkie. He asked another cashier where I could find compression pants and she said, "that way" and pointed in a direction to her left (which was the entire left side of the store). He looked at me as though that would suffice. When I went to walk through the left side of the store, I saw a floor worker and asked him where I could find compression pants and he shared they only had compression sleeves and was also not helpful. I left the store and definitely would not recommend going there if you need any help finding what you're looking for. read more

I went yesterday to look for some items. When I walked through the entrance doors there were four employees stand in front of me and not one said hello. "May I help you find something?" They were too busy chatting, or training or something other than "amazing customer service". I was in a section trying to find an employee to help me. No one had the time. I left without getting anything, and on my way out through the doors two employees looked at me and didn't say a word (i had a mask on too). Very poorly managed store! read more
