This location is extremely unorganized and if you find a product you are interested in, good luck finding the price. Also, be aware, if you want to purchase a firearm, pickup or have questions about paperwork; you better come before 4pm as they have limited staff qualified to process firearms purchases. UPDATE!!!! So, called ahead today, 08 July, to pick up my firearm. Smooth sailing until the clerk finds one of his incompetent co-workers fucked up my paperwork; put my ID in as a DL instead of an ID. Needless to say, I would have had to do the paperwork over and wait another 10 days. FUCK THAT!!! My wife and I were trying to help a man down on his luck who had just lost his brother in a fatal accident. This man had come to Santa Rosa from out of the area and had nowhere to stay. It happened to be below freezing overnight and he was staying on the streets. We went to some local thrift stores in attempt to locate a warm sleeping bag and came up empty. One call to Dick's, we explained the situation to the manager, Mitchell, and he was more than happy to help. Mitchell discounted a 0 degree sleeping bag to, what I can only imagine, as cost and had it ready for us to pick up within minutes. I realize that this is a large corporation and the managers have some flexibily on discounts, but he didn't even hesitate. I have shopped here before and will shop here again due to the generosity of the individual manager and the willingness to help a total stranger in need. read more

I struggled to find a product. So I looked for some help, none to be found! Went to the front and asked and was just directed to the area, no sales help. No one was around. I asked the guy who was working on Bikes. He came over and could not help me with prices or selection. When I asked him about it, instead of saying something like, let me get you someone that can help you better, he said' This is not my responsibility'. I said forget it, and will not buy from them. Dick's has ZERO customer service. I have gone in twice now and both experiences were the same: young employees with no knowledge (what size bat for my son? ... "Oh maybe you should google that, I dunno")... I promptly left and went to T&B Sports, who know all little league regulations, is locally owned, and has something called CUSTOMER SERVICE. Yesterday I tried Dicks again to get cleats for my son. I'm wandering around trying to find youth sizes. Two "kids" (employees) were flirting in the shoe section and would not acknowledge any customers. I finally interrupted their very important conversation (ha) and asked where youth sizes were. "There are some over there, and some more over there" as he pointed in the general vicinity. No $pit Sherlock. I'm in the flipping shoe section. WHERE ARE YOUTH CLEATS? Once again this store has left me very annoyed. They had a signed product on sale for $5.98 each and next to it another sign for buy one get one free. In my opinion that should be $6 for two. The regular price is $9.98 each. When you go to ring up the items you end getting the first one for $5.98 but the second changes the price back to $9.98 with $5 off making it $10/2 instead of $6. Instead of just honoring it they wouldn't do it so I paid the $10 and left. It's not worth the $4 to spend 30 minutes arguing. I don't know why I continue to give this place money. I returned one jacket that my Christmas recipient did not like, and Dick's system shows that it had already been returned. Really, how? I have my receipts and the merchandise. Finally, cashier Nate handled and resolved the matter. Today, I was exchanging a Nike women's jacket, and again their system shows that it had already been returned. How could that have happened? Again, I have my receipts and the jacket. Cashier Nate uttered ... "I don't know why this keeps happening. I can't do that gift card thing again." It appears Nate was not able to ring up or process the exchange without authorization, as he was talking to someone for quite awhile, that or was hesitant to do it. I finally asked to speak with the store manager. Taylor, one of the store managers came up to the counter and I gave her the background. She was sooo unfriendly, rude, and upset for disturbing/interrupting whatever she was doing before coming out to speak with me. They were both looking at the system and Nate was scanning the jacket's tag. Finally, Taylor said the Nike women's jacket is worth .11 or .89 cents or something like that. She added "I'm losing money if I do the exchange". How could she lose money, when all I'm doing is exchanging the merchandise that's worth $75. ??? Please help me figure that one out. Several minutes later, she was able to do something on the system to process the exchange evenly. We, as consumers, are smarter than computers and we process these matters more accurately and maturely without being judged and treated rudely and unfairly. Dick's cashiers and especially its management staff will highly benefit from additional customer service/care training, preferably in a classroom and not an online class. And they can learn from their competition, who treats their customers with respect and go above and beyond delivering genuine customer care! I ended up going to the Petaluma store and they were very helpful and said they constantly have people say the same thing about the Santa Rosa store. Very poor customer service; not because the people working there are not helpful, but way understaffed. The line was through the store. No one to help in the individual departments. When I got someone they really could not help me. I wanted to buy a bike TODAY. I was ready to spend my money. There were three of the model bike I wanted and something was broken on each of them. There was not something small wrong, but broken components. The person who helped me told me not to buy a bike in the store, but to buy it online. This store has a better layout than the now closed Sports Authority but oddly their selection seems smaller. I really never thought I would take a step into this store but by happenstance I desperately needed a family sized tent and Dick's had some in stock (my third stop). Unfortunately for me the stock was a crappy Field and Stream tent that was priced about $100 more than it should have. Long story short the tent ripped along a seam the first day it was up but Dick's took it back easy peasy. Shopped around more today and didn't find several things I was seeking. Went in today. Asked for bathroom code. Tried it 3 times, did not work. The employee that acted like I was bugging him more every time decided to come try the code and it worked instantly for him. He never bothered to tell me to lift the handle up instead of down. Less laziness and I wouldn't have had to "bother" him so many times. Then the best part, no soap in the bathroom. Tried 3 times, (my magic fail number at this pathetic store) no soap. I leave with unwashed hands and tell the same employee. He says "BRB let me tell my MNGR." Good sign right? NAH! He comes back and says "MY MNGR said both restrooms are out of soap and they haven't even ordered any." So I said "Put a sign on both stores so people are aware before they use the bathroom." He then gave me another annoyed look, said nothing, ignored me and went back to yacking with his buddy workers. A few minutes later after I stand there just looking around I realize he, and the other workers who overheard this had absolutely no intention of putting any signs on the door. I suddenly felt severe disgust that I could not shake off, even at this point Taylor Swift could not help me out (Shake It Off reference), I realized that both the employees and customers have been using those restrooms for God knows how many days, relieving themselves, and not hand washing, then handling all those thousands of clothes and items in that store with fecal matter and urine on their hands. I immediately left the store with no purchase of any kind and emailed the Sonoma County Health Dept when I got home. Hope they get sanctioned and closed for a massive cleaning. Every item of clothing in there needs to be washed in hot water, every item wiped down. I am not at all surprised this DICK's has 2 stars. Not surprised in the least. Went to Dick's last night to get a new pair of Tennis Shoes for my son. Spent 10 minutes trying to find an associate to help. Spent another 10 minutes trying to find the shoe we picked out and then quickly he disappears to another department to stock something. The shoe didn't fit and they didn't have his size. So we picked another shoe out and spent another 15 minutes trying to locate the correct size. Finally the 3rd time we where able to find the correct size and we had to settle on this one. What a mess this store is from a - z. No customer service, merchandising is pathetic, no inventory, and long lines due to minimal staff. I hate buying on line because I prefer to help support at least a local job in our area but Dick's you're making a mistake by not getting this store under control. The sad thing is that there where over 10 customers in the department and we saw over 4 leave without any product due to no service......... Attempted to put my foot down on my dressing situation at my gym .I pretty much don't go because I feel Uncomfortable in shape and size I have never been before and very self-conscious about it .so I spent the time to load my card up willing to spend the money on these namebrand clothes .Nikes, Under armor, Adidas , Brooks shoes. Guesstimating about $500 worth of spending.Young lady stopped me at the Justen room and told me only three items at a time and no shoes.I will say my $250 red wings are worth more than $120 pair of brooks shoes so sorry I will not be doing a swap in the dressing room.Ideally and normally I would put on a pair of pants shoes then try all the shirts on with them.Then switch pants put back on shoes then do the process again.All other stores count the clothing entering the dressing room and count them leaving.The poor young lady that was merely doing her job Was left with a full cart of clothing that had not even been tried on I probably will not return.And apparently I look like a homeless person if that is the excuse for the three clothing Rule. read more

We came here to buy shoes for my husband. The shoe department was amazingly messy - stuff all over the floor that other people had dropped, random boxes stacked haphazardly. My husband tripped over some debris, and I saw someone else stumble over some dropped merchandise. We found shoes we wanted, but the boxes in the area had nothing to do with the shoes on display. A lot of the boxes held shoes that weren't even on display! I finally found the shoe box in another area. There was no assistance at all. They should have more mirrors. The checkout person was not friendly and did not thank us for the purchase. This is a new store, and it was so messy and disorganized. It's only going to get worse. Is there a manager? read more

Went into Dick's for the first time last week. They had an incredible selection of just about anything you could think to need sporting-goods wise. Our bad luck that they didn't have the one thing we needed most: a foot pump for our air mattress. However, the staff was around every corner offering help and assistance and we were able to find everything else we were looking for and the prices were pretty good. read more

Today I had a really sour experience at this particular branch (Santa Rosa CA., Cleveland Ave) I went to this store to exchange an item that was defective, without questions the lady at the registers told me to get a new one and the will gladly will be able to do the exchange, transaction was smooth, then I saw "Yeti" ice chest near me and decided to look at them, I have been shopping one of these for quite a while but still have not found one with wheels, as I decided to go and check out the whole store, I found more "Yeti" coolers place in a shelf, to my surprise, they had one with wheels, I got excited and decided to look at it, wanted to see how big it was in the inside, by the way my birthday just passed and I thought that could potentially be my gift for this year, I knew this brand are very expensive and I was calculating that it would be more than $300, so I approached the shelve and try to pull the ice chest, an alarm goes off, I noticed then, the ice chest was attached by an alarm device that went off as soon as I try to pull it from the shelve, of course some customers looked at me, which in a way it made me very uncomfortable, but I understood that unfortunately nowadays, business have to protect their assets this way, anyway, in less than a minute an employee of the store came to me and a very annoying loud tone of voice she ask: "WHATS GOING ON" I looked at her and I said "really? Wouldn't you be asking if I need help in this case?" I found kind of silly that you are more concern about the the item instead of providing better customer service, she said well we have to protect these expensive items and avoid people stealing? Then she proceeded to get the keys to turn off the alarm, I waited for her to see give her another opportunity to apologize but to my surprise she looked irritated, then I try to close my case with a word of advice to her, I told her that if they are going to keep those items to the reach of customers with an alarm on, they should have a sign making people aware and ask for assistance, then I told her that hopefully they can evaluate their customer service and try to improve because that was not ok, she just came back at me saying, that is customer service, after that I knew she was not getting it, I just do one thing, don't ever come back to this branch, specially when they have employees working there that actually do honors to their name. read more
