We spend thousands of dollar every year on athletic gear at Dicks in Petaluma. We bought a pair of cleats and my son wore them 30 minutes and we needed to return for a larger size. The Dicks in Santa Rosa told us they would take them back but when we went to the Petaluma store they would not take it. If you might haha to exchange something do not go to this location. Dicks in Santa Rosa has a way better policy on customer service so we will be only going there in the future. read more

Went in today early morning around 9am to return some shoes and the cashier was just so rude to my partner to the point that i stepped in with the same tone they them were giving us . Don't recall their name but I do remember it said "Lead " . Was baffled to see that they were a lead. Get better managers or teach them to be better . We had a good experience here . Tommy , a head coach ( manager ) so helpful . But we also had other people helping us in the shoe dept & athletic wear . Before we ended up here , we went to a store in San Rafael, that had total car salesman energy,,off putting , Weird . I had every intention on starting the process of getting of custom fit for some new golf clubs. It's a shame that there weren't any employees interested in seeing if I was in need of assistance. Granted I could have made an effort to go find someone but the three or so employees that walked in the general vicinity seemed disinterested in making the effort to approach a customer. Omar has the best customer service! I had to go back to exchange my shoes that were to narrow for my feet. The first time I went I barely got any help but when I went to exchange them I had the opposite experience. Omar was helping me pick out wide shoes for my feet, he had many recommendations and spent at least 40 minutes with me to make sure I found the perfect shoe. I ended up buy two pairs because it was such a great experience and Omar was so knowledgeable. He deserves praise and a raise! If you go there ask for Omar in the shoe section! read more

They have one of the worst return policies of all retails. Returning a used product is like grinding teeth and nails, even with a receipt. It's hit or miss every time I shop. Today I went in with a gift card (turns out a bonus). It's only for in store use, it's all got to be spent in product. They won't deduct tax. I've got no problem with it but none of the clerks seemed to be familiar or prepared for it. What should've been a five minute transaction took closer to 20. I had also ordered an item on line. A gamma tennis cart. Not once, but twice they shipped it and had folded the plastic bottom compromising the integrity of the product. I returned it to the store, and they are unable to replace online items from the store. So that is why I had shipped the replacement and it was repeated. So I gave up on that order read more

Oh my gosh! Twice you have rescued me with presta tire tubes! So I am out in the middle of nowhere when the flat tire happened. Not to worry I told myself. I've got the Mi**s Bi**s presto tube I recently purchased from them in my bike bag. Uh, no, I had a Schrader valve tube they sold me for my very roadie bike! Ugh! So I walked the bike with a flat tire to Dick's and was sold the best little presta valve tube in the world! Keep being the best bicycle shop in town. I used to hate going to this store. There was no one working the floor and if you actually found a salesperson they seemed to know nothing about the stock and couldn't answer your questions. I usually left without buying anything. But my last experience has changed all of that. Yesterday, I went looking for hoodies and sandals. I was approached twice by employees asking if they could help and in both cases, they actually did. They answered all of my questions, brought stock from the back in my size and I went home happily with my purchases. This morning I returned one of the pair of sandals because I chose the wrong size (my mistake, not theirs) and my money was refunded with no problem. The cashier even tried to find the right size for me but they were out of stock. I don't know what happened to make this store up its game. Maybe they have more employees for the holidays. Or maybe corporate woke up to the fact that customer service matters. But I hope they keep up the good work. read more

What a cool store. I know this is just a glorified Sports Authority, but its got a large range of products and items to choose from. They even have a treadmill to try out running shoes. I didn't see any employees around that area to ask them what the deal was, but it still looked pretty cool. The entrance to get into the shopping center is turrible (Charles Barkley voice). We accidental got back on south bound 101 trying to get in LOL. I'm sure the signage will be approved on once all of the other stores open though. read more

Staff is incredibly helpful - especially in these wild times. I'd purchased a workout bench for my fledgling home gym two months ago, and unfortunately it was missing two essential parts for assembly. After being led around in circles by the support line for months and encountering dead ends via the manufacturer, manager Clayton did some digging and was able to find the missing parts for me. He was friendly and patient and turned a very frustrating and negative experience into a positive one. :) read more

Everyone seems to have staffing shortages, but the Petaluma Ca Store not only have plenty of staff on hand, but they are very helpful & super friendly as my wife and I bought a things from various departments and a number of staff steered us in the right directions. They went as far as to walk us to some merchandise cheerfully. To pile on more goodwill I left my cell in Golf Shoe section and about a half hour later when I called them they had it. A young man at service counter named Alex had it securely put aside for me. I want this staff! read more

What a crappy experience. I went in earlier today to look at some new Giants gear...they are playing later so I was stoked. As soon as I go in everyone says hi...seems very friendly. As I am looking through the sweatshirts the sales associate says to another: 'Might as well send all this crap back. They are going to lose.' His co worker says 'Ssshhh' and he says, 'I don't care. I'm not a fan.' This was enough to piss me off because I was decked out in gear. What a jerk. It was like he was directing that comment to me... However...then came the icing on the cake. A third worker came over and said 'I don't like it when people snitch on me!!' And the guy was like 'who'? And she was said 'I dunno someone snitched on me in here.' Come on Dicks. Get it together. I can't give zero stars I guess, this is the place where costumer service comes to die. No greeting walking in, I didn't see an employee for 15 minutes. When I did they were too busy playing grab ass with the other "employess," I bit the bullet and walked towards them for help any way, they glared at me then scattered when I was almost close enough to get someone's attention. The only time I was given any attention was when I hit the button to have someone open the dressing room, and that was greeted with an attitude like I had pulled her away from something far more important. The selection, don't go for shorts right now, some how they only have basketball length or super short paper thin, in ANY brand. There might have been something else but I couldn't locate it, maybe if I had any assistance besides dirty looks, terrible attitudes and outright avoidance I might have paid the outrageously high price. But I guess we will never know, its not worth another trip...ever. If you read this and are in ANY POSITION of influence at this store you need to seriously rethink your staff choices. read more

Bought my son a $350 baseball bat and it cracked within 3 weeks. Brought it in to see if they would let me exchange it since it's within the 30 day return time. The Manager and Asst manager said they will NOT take it back and we need to contact the manufacturer for help. A $350 product should last longer than 21 days! We have a week long tournament and no bat. Did Management care, nope. Save yourself the stress and go to Play It Again Sports or buy from the manufacturer directly. read more

The driveway into this shopping center is a little strange, but I imagine this is due to it being new. If you get off of 101 South bound, you go right on E Washington and then turn left at the light into the fair grounds. The road loops back to the shopping center. I know that Dick's is a chain store, but I've never been to one before now. It is a huge sporting goods store with everything from apparel to bicycles. Their golf section is large and has a putting green. The prices I saw in there were competitive. Their shooting section featured some slightly more expensive shotguns and they did have ammo in stock at regular prices instead of the inflated prices that most retailers are charging right now. I definitely can't wait to come back when I have more time to check everything out, but I was happy with this shopping experience. read more

I love me some Dicks...sporting goods. Get your mind out of the gutter. It is important to set an appropriate expectation about what you are going to encounter. I came wanting to see a huge selection of top sporting goods, clothing, and accessories. I did not come expecting that I was going to get a lot of help and guidance. This IS a big box, sports mega store chain, after all... There is a great selection of everything, with varying price levels, too. In the clothing front I was a little disappointed that they don't carry more clothing/sports bras for larger women. read more

Petaluma finally got a real sporting goods store. I love the organization of the departments, so you get a concentration of items in your area of interest. I must comment, though, on the entrances and exits to the mall in general. This is not the fault of Dick's, but the developer (Regency) of the mall. The layout makes no sense at all. To exit the main driveway onto Washington Boulevard, you have to wait for all the cars queuing up to get on the 101 going south. It becomes gridlock, especially during rush hour. Plus, coming over the overpass, you cannot make a left turn into that driveway as it is blocked by the median. I wonder what dunce engineered this? Some Yelpers commented that the traffic problem is short lived. Not so, folks, we are stuck with this monstrosity forever. But, Dick's Sporting Goods is a great store - and you don't have to drive to Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, or Novato to get your stuff. read more

This store stinks, they NEVER have any sizes in stock and there is never an associate around to help on the floor. When you have just a simple question about size, product or location, you have to stand in the line for purchase JUST to ask! There is only one associate and the product knowledge is next to nothing. They always have to call a manager and even then, after a long wait, they always have the same answer. You can order it online and we will ship it to you....no help, no way to try things on, no product knowledge. They just exists for a paycheck, no investment in the job or the store, no pride. Then when I have an issue with a product I get referred to the vendor directly. Seriously?? The response I got from the vendor was even worse: From Under Armour...."We apologize for the inconvenience! We have a 60-day return policy that we abide by, if our customers are unsatisfied with our gear. Anything past the timeframe, we review by a case-by-case basis, however we would need some purchase information. We'll be sure to pass the feedback along to our Product Team to take a closer look at. If you happen to find any purchase information though, let us know!" The only reason I have them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they have me a better answer than UA I. That there is a design flaw in the product and they are sorry. What a waste. read more

We came back to buy shoes recently, 6 pairs between multiple family members and spent close to $500. We had to return 2 of the pairs because within a week they were falling apart. One of the pairs we had to return a second time that same week because after one wear, the entire sole was falling off. The management handled the situation well. Which is why you are gaining a star. I still don't love the clothing selection. Fishing section is great. Some of the specialty sportings goods sections are nice. But the 60+% of floor space the clothing is taking up, isn't worth wandering through. read more

Wow were to began here. First off I am single father of 2 daughters who are going to play soccer this year and one of the girls was in the need to get soccer cleats. We went to Dicks sporting goods in Petaluma for the purchase. I must admit I maybe picking sometimes regards to service I receive. I went in there hoping to find the shoe person there, give my daughters shoe size, what are my cost options. purchase and be on my way. Here is what I got..... the cleat area a disaster. there is no way to know what any of the prices are on anything. There was stacks of merchandise scattered everywhere. No posted prices.. I ask for help.... was pointed back to the cleat area and was told here you go, No starting to get frustrated. (see I am looking for someone to show me my options and be on my way).. okay on my own now... try on shoes ... how much is this one ? tracked down same associate and was directed to go to the front of the store to price check. carried 5 boxes of cleats to the front area.... at this point I asked to speak to a manager. She was young Polite and apologetic. she traced down a price gun and she helped get are needs and offered a discount on our purchase. I did make my purchase there. I bought bikes here same store, really same story. they have lots to chose from but they lack lack lack in help and organization ... ect. This will be my last purchase here... By the way. I am the coach of my daughters soccer team and for sure will share my experience with parents of my team members. What was I thinking. Tried to return a bike helmet. The receipt was about a year old. I know that is a long time. I was just looking for store credit or a different style. They said no problem but they offered me less that half of what I paid for it. Perfect in box helmet never used. And a brand and style they still sold. What a waste of space in our community. I am sure they wont be in business there much longer. People do not have time to waste with poor customer service with so many on line options. I will donate the helmet before I will let Dicks give me half of what I paid just to put it back on the shelf. Good luck to the employees there. Better start looking for a new job. read more
