We stopped in to buy bait for crabbing. It is a massively huge store. From the front it looked small. Nope, humongous. We got our frozen squid bait. I used the bathroom , which was very clean and well appointed. I also got a day fishing licenses. There are lots of employees, and everyone was very helpful. read more

This place is fishing heaven! I was nearby for a work conference, and one of my buddies from work who had been here before suggested that we check it out, and I'm glad we did! First off, this place is huge! Imagine a building just a tiny bit smaller than Dick's Sporting Goods, but all fishing! It's crazy! Lol. I actually was so busy checking the place out that I forgot to take pics inside! Lol. As far as inventory, they have anything you could ever think of for fishing! Poles, reels, tackle, bags, clothes, everything! There are lots of brands I've never even seen before, and brands you would never find at Walmart or your average sporting goods store! I showed some restraint and only spent 50 bucks on this visit, but I'll definitely come back in the near future! I live 45 minutes-ish away depending on traffic, but this place will definitely be worth the drive. I signed up for a rewards account and look forward to racking up some points. I've been coming here the last few years for all my local fishing needs; weights, hooks, line, rods etc for halibut, salmon, rockfish, etc. They always have what I'm looking for and the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and without any attitude. Recently, I walked in to see if they could help me rig up a jig for bluefin tuna out of San Diego. Not only did they have the jigs, Mike, the manager, helped me pick out a pack of 4x strength 6/0 hooks and a pack of owner 250# split rings to upgrade the jigs for the monster sized tuna. Then, on the spot, he installed the beefy hook, moved the assist hooks, and rigged it with 3' of 200# mono. Amazing service and knowledge! Kind of surreal to think this giant Costco sized warehouse of fishing supplies is merely 15 minutes down the road from my home. People drive hours to shop here and I can literally come here on a whim. The thing I like best about this place is that it's beginner friendly - actually just friendly in general. So, I walk into the shop yesterday, wearing a mask of course. At the counter near the door are the shopkeeper and a customer, yakking away, probably about fishing. No mask on either one. Both of their masks are dropped down around their necks. I motion to my face, meaning they might consider pulling theirs on as well. The shopkeeper, misunderstanding my intent, says that it's up to me whether I wear one in the shop or not. When they paused their conversation, I politely requested that they put on masks. I ordered a rod online, I drove 45 mins to pick it up. While I was there I also had my reel spooled. The customer service was excellent. It was the best customer service I have ever received at any out door shop. This shop blows my local tackle shops out of the water when it comes to customer service, maybe it's because they have a lot of staff. The guy I had the privilege of helping me out was Amous. I drove an hour to get this shimano talica 16ii reel I couldn't find anywhere. Amous was friendly, helpful and had customer service you can't find nowadays. It was honestly a breath of fresh air. Normally when you go into places that are a specialty shop people are cocky and extremely dismissive.. Amous was neither he was extremely helpful and personable and so were the rest of the staff. The in stock fishing gear was an anglers wet dream! They have fucking EVERYTHING! I have a local spot I go to but Amous and the guys working at this pro shop seriously won my business and loyalty today. I have no problem driving an hour+ to give these fellas my business. I've been shopping the Outdoor Pro Shop back to when they were on the other side of the Freeway. This store has always been top notch as far as customer service goes. One example was when they have helped me deal with Rod Warranty issues for some IRods that had been given to me as gifts. You have knowledgeable staff who have expertise in fishing for different species of fish, and so they know what they are talking about. If they suggest something it because it is probably working, and I don't take these as hard sells. They want you to be successful in catching fish. Ken and Debbie Elie have always supported the local fishing clubs as well. Numerous donations of gift certificates, tackle, rods, and reels. I went to the store yesterday with a reel that I was having problems with. The manager - Mike - figured out the problem immediately- the braided line was slipping on the spool. He took off all the line, added some backing, and respooled the line. problem solved, no charge. What really impressed me though was a foul mouthed tattooed customer who was raising a fuss despite getting a free new replacement reel for an old one he sent in for repair. Mike listened to him calmly, solved his (unreasonable) concerns and never said a bad word about him. This store is the greatest. Found four items I would have purchased had I not been on my bicycle asked a few questions about impulse junk by the register and left. Then about ten minutes later some guy pops out of the bushes on the walking path behind PetSmart to ask if I was just there and what did I take,what did I come in for, what did I fish for, and if I didn't come knowing what I wanted not to come at all. I asked what was happening as I drove a long distance for the price and they said the online price is not the store price even though you are sent there when you search for the outdoor pro shop. What you have to do is order online and specify in store pickup to get the price in store. They said the lower price is a incentive to look at more items and buy more.
