Theresa (proprietor) teaching my nephew how to use a bow for he first time!

Amazing place. Great indoor range and retail store. Theresa is clearly a knowledgeable instructor, but was also amazing with my Nephew. Great place to bring the family I was suppposed to babysit and go to K1 go karts with him but they were closed. The idea of archery just popped into my head and it wound up being THE BEST time!!!

"There is no excellence in archery without great labour." --Maurice Thompson What a find! Came as group to take archery lessons as well as stay for the Battle Axe throwing class. We loved it all! Turra's Backroom Archery is certainly a fun choice to learn Archery and or just train and practice. If you're an archery enthusiast and searching out good instruction this archery range is a perfect fit! Theresa and Ron (Owners) are such great people. They are passionate and committed to archery and ---thoroughly enjoy sharing it with clients. We are new to Archery but we learned and advanced in just one lesson thanks to Ron! He is a wonderful instructor who will challenge you to achieve proper form (Perfection before progression). Location and merchandise: This Archery Range is conveniently located off Santa Rosa Avenue and offers easy parking. It is an indoor range that offers multiple-lanes and ample space to move around. In the main building (entrance) you will find an extensive shop with a range of Hunting Bows, Crossbows, Target Bows, and other fashion and basic Bow Accessories - all from the top brands. What they offer: Turra's Backroom Archery has it all--you can book private Archery lessons, reserve the range, and or book corporate group lessons in Battle Axe Throwing and or Archery. Staff: Friendly staff and certified instructors! Ron and Theresa are the best!

Ron is the man!! Teaches you good form for successful bow shooting. I have always wanted to take archery lessons and so glad my first experience was here. Good for all ages. Will definitely be returning to do some more shooting in the indoor range.

Took my granddaughter for her first lesson today. Ron & Theresa were absolutely wonderful with her. They are both very understanding and give excellent instruction while keeping it fun and engaging. We will continue with private lessons until my granddaughter feels ready to go a practice on her own. Looking forward to a long relationship.

Knowledgeable people | Fun place | Great offers My husband and I dropped in over the weekend to check out this place. We weren't planning on doing any shooting, but we decided to try out different bows after talking to Theresa. Justin and Theresa are awesome! They helped us out answering all of our questions, telling us lots of helpful tips and advice, and were very patient with us throughout the entire time they let us shoot. They spent 2 hours with us. We learned about the different bows they have and what they're used for, and apparently the arrows are even more of a process to decide what is perfect for the shooter's needs. We tried out a hybrid compound, compound, and re-curve bow. I was pretty overwhelmed with the amount of focus you need to do before letting that arrow fly! Though it was my first time, I tried to create a mental check-list to remember all of the things I need to do before shooting so that I have the proper form: -position feet correctly -check your hips -use your core -place the bow correctly in my thumb area of my hand -turn out the elbow a little bit -draw and pull back with the back muscle **make sure your finger isn't on the trigger** -check alignment of hand on cheek -is the string hitting your nose? -don't look at the arrow! look at the middle part of the bow and take aim I felt pretty weak after a few tries already! It was so much fun, but man, I kept thinking to myself, "gee, I'm a pretty active person. I rock climb and hike a lot, so why am I tired and finding myself sore?". We're just using different muscle groups that we've never used before. Archery is such a sport! (and a fun one too!) We plan on coming back to do private lessons. We really liked this place because the people that work there are more than willing to spend the time to show you proper techniques and form and to get you immersed in the sport. That's probably why they didn't charge us for our first session. This place is perfect for everyone -- families, couple/date night, young, and old. It's safe, too. Their rates are pretty reasonable, so if you're looking for something to do, check this place out. I believe it's $5 for a drop-in (assuming you have your gear already) and you have about 20 minutes of shooting. If I come back for private lessons with my husband, it's $30.

My fiancé had his bow serviced by them less than 6 months ago, and only used it 3 times since it was serviced. He went to pull it back last night (no arrow and did not dry fire it) and it made a snapping sound and the strings came loose. He took it in today and told them what happened and they were blaming it on him. When He took it in to get serviced they did a "full" inspection on the bow and said it needed a lot of upgrades, which he agreed to and paid for. Now they are saying that the comps are too sharp, but the reason they are sharp now is most likely because the strings they put on weren't the correct ones for the draw strength and when he pulled it back this last time, it messed everything up because the strings couldn't handle the weight. One of the upgrades they did to the bow was put new strings on. My fiancé chose specific string colors to put on the bow, when he went to pick it up a month later he noticed that they put different strings on than what he ordered. This is why we think they may have put the wrong strings on for the draw weight of the bow. The person who my fiancé talked to yesterday told him he should just buy a new bow.

I did that!!!

Super fun place for axe throwing. I had never done this before, but it was really fun with the group I went with.

Wow, an archery field in the middle of the Golden Gate Park. Who knew?…read more Recently came here for a beginner archery session with a *socially distanced* group. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that people are exploring all kinds of interests they've never considered before. I, for once, had never tried archery so I thought I'd give it a go. So glad I did! It was such a cool sport/activity. We rented bow and arrows and a target from a nearby shop and did practice sessions here for a couple of hours. The archery field is nicely maintained and is free to the public. It was quite busy when we came on a Saturday afternoon. All the lanes were full. However, people were courteous and all patiently waited for a lane to open. Although I was very bad at it, I felt super cool shooting arrows like I was in the Hunger Games movie or something. I'd totally come back and do it again. Highly recommend!

Still remarkably unsafe. Went back to the GGP archery field to instruct a beginner at his request…read morethis weekend. Sunday morning, with the lanes full, there's a complete lunatic cosplaying with a horse bow and headphones, rapid shooting from waist level, from distances farther and farther back from the bale on the lane next to us. Then we notice he's actually moved off the field, behind the pedestrian walkway, and has climbed the hill behind the range to continue shooting. He's just spraying arrows, not hitting the bale, from easily 130 yards, with plenty of humans standing in the cone of fire of a casual error. This is insanely unsafe behavior. When everyone's well behaved, I'm sure GGP is fine. I just haven't seen that in a long time.
