This is a typical Dick's Sporting Goods, however smaller than the Dulles location, the selection here is pretty good for shoes, bikes, clothing, camping, and summer sports. The staff is usually really friendly and around to help throughout the store. The times I used online pickup, it's always speedy at the front counter but they have curbside too. read more

First tme here. Glad that Leesburg now has its own Dick's Sporting Goods. Large selection of sports equipment and clothes. Large golf section with good variety of golf equipment ans large selection of golf shoes. I will probably use the Dick's in Sterling as it is closer. But the Leesburg store is an option (especially with Holiday shopping coming soon). The parking is somewhat limited. read more

I needed a softball bat replaced under the Dicks 2 year plan after it cracked in two days. I walked in and met Naz the Assistant Store Manager. She took me through the registration process, got on the phone with the insurance claim for a while and helped me get a replacement bat. I needed a new bat for my daughter's game in a few hours and Naz was extremely helpful! She is the reason this will be my new favorite Dick's location! Just not impressed with what they have here, the prices, or the customer service. Especially in light of comparison to the near by factory outlet mall or what you can get online. I arrived early yesterday morning during a rainstorm. A young woman (Anastasia?) was outside getting the store ready for opening. She asked what I was looking for. My tee time was at 930am and I needed some rain gloves ASAP. Though the store was not yet open she asked her colleague to bring me out gloves to look at. Well they live up to their name. All I wanted was a trampoline. It's 176lbs, and I see a stack out front. I wait in line for a few minutes and explain i want to buy one of the trampolines on sale. He asks me to get him the merchandise so he can scan it. That's it - no help - just go get it. Now I'm in shape, but that's a tall order to dead lift a 176lb box. Two other customers help me put it in a basket so I can wheel it to the counter so the guy can scan it... Obviously I loaded it up pretty much on my own too (again - one customer in the parking lot helped). So - the price was okay. The quality I'm sure is fine, but they are just Dicks in that store. Don't expect help. Expect attitude. How hard would it have been to look up the code? read more

Gosh, why would anybody bother to shop at a Dick's Sporting Goods store location? My wife and I needed a recumbent bike. We went to Dick's in Leesburg, VA a week ago to look at the Schwinn 270, a moderately price recumbent bike with good reviews. The salesperson who attempted to help us knew nothing about the product, but--since there was not a price on it--had someone else look it up via radio. At least we knew their pricing was competitive. We live out in the country, and on line ordering for everything from appliances to groceries is a common practice. The same bike at the same price was available on Amazon, but because we saw it at Dick's, and took up their salesperson's time with our enquiries, we felt it would be appropriate to get ours there. Big mistake. We went in early this afternoon (Wednesday) to make our purchase. Our requirements included delivery and set up because my wife had recent surgery, and I have an arthritic shoulder that precludes heavy lifting of this 100 pound item. Well, we finally found an employee, and he instructed us to go to the front of the store to order it. The idea that he might alert someone to our coming to make a purchase was, apparently, unimportant. We were left to make our way on our own. First clue. When we got to the front of the store, and after waiting a bit in line, when I told the cashier what we wanted to do, she was completely confused. "Why didn't I order it online?" seemed to be her question. The fact that I was trying to give her store credit for the sale was lost on her. Moreover, she had no idea how to process the sale through one of their monitors at the front of the store, evidently. Second clue. Although she knew, we learned subsequently, that we'd pay shipping if we ordered it on line, and shipping was free if we ordered from the store, this did not seem to be something she thought relevant. After waiting for someone else to help us, I finally just asked for the name of the District Manager. I thought talking with that person might alert management to the problem the store was having serving its customers. Big Mistake #2. Apparently, there was a big meeting in the store today. The cashier then said the District Manager was there, and would be out to help us. Wonderful. She showed up a few minutes later and asked what we wanted. I explained we wished to order the Schwinn through the store, and this--evidently--was lost on her. She seemed to think I wanted to place an on line order (and pay shipping? NOT!). Finally, it got across to her what I wanted after I said that I didn't care if we got it through the store, ordered it online or it fell out of the sky onto my front lawn. Well, she went back to "put eyes on the stock" (??) to see if they had a unit they could have delivered to us. Eventually, she came back, and we started the process of purchase. At that point I asked, quite simply, if the delivery service (a third party) would deliver and set up for the $125 fee, and if that included moving the product up to the second floor of the house. Well, she informed us this was something we would have to contact the third party delivery service ourselves to determine. There was no offer of a contact number with this statement. So, to buy a $549 dollar item I needed to go to the store, find someone who actually knew how to purchase a product from that store (a District Manager--must be complex!), and then research on my own with the delivery company to see if they can accommodate my needs. Of course, that makes perfect sense. Well, no, actually it doesn't. So, I said goodbye to Dick's for the very last time, went home, ordered it for the same price from Amazon (free shipping) and paid a fee of $35 as part of the purchase for assembly. And, it's clear to me that if the District Manager's idea of customer service is exemplified by our experience, they should just close the place down, and put a computer kiosk out on the sidewalk. I needed to get a bike for my son who's outgrown his last kid bike, a 24" that I got online. My favorite store Performance closed a while back as well as my online go to Nashbar. Didn't really want to go the big box store but also didn't want to commit to a real bike from a independent shop until he developed some bike related interest. Found a great deal on a adult mountain bike that I could actually get a specific frame size and even color selection, ordered online, and did curbside pickup. My son couldn't believe I could get a new bike so fast, neither could I. The last bike I had to assemble out of a box, this one came fully assembled and good job from what I could tell. Pickup was fast, went to marked curbside space and checked in online and a team member brought the bike out a few minutes later. He asked if I was John and gave me the bike. Couldn't have been easier, more pleased, more painless. Now to replace my daughter's bike... read more

Dick's Sporting Goods is located across from Costco in the shopping center with Michael's, Ross, Staples, etc. This location is 1 level. Much smaller than Dulles or Fair Lakes but has pretty much everything you're looking for. For specialty items they will order and ship it to you for free. read more

I wouldn't advise anyone even considering having bow/archery work done by this location. Dropped my diamond sb-1 off to have a peep sight and silencer whiskers put on. After 4 days of waiting and several phone calls were I was disconnected or hung up on I returned and got my bow back. Before I could even get my bow home the peep sight had come loose and fallen off. Ended up driving to Cabela's in Gainesville to resolve the issue. Never going back to this poor excuse for a Sporting Goods store. read more

Stay away unless you are desperate for sporting goods. This store is a fraction of the size of most Dicks and the selection is limited. Aside from that there is little or no help from employees on the floor. Any staff that you encounter look and act like they HATE working there. On my last visit I had to return two Under Armor items that my son got as a gift for his birthday. There was no gift receipt so I was forced to rely on the good faith of Dicks. The items were shorts and a shirt and they gave us $18 credit. REALLY! You can't buy a pair of socks at Dicks for $18!!! I will not forget this and it will be a long time before I set foot back in that store and will take as many customers with me as possible. Bad form Dicks!! read more

This location is nothing like all the other locations I have been in. It is very small compared to the others. It is brand new and I can not figure out why they decided to open such a small location. They carry a small portion of items compared to the other locations. I would much rather drive 10 minutes to the other one in Dulles Town Center. I think this was just a waist of space and can't imagine it doing well considering they have another one less then 10 miles from this one that is huge. read more

Despite the other nonflattering reviews, I received excellent one on one attention from Pierre at the hunting department. He was knowledgeable, passionate and very thorough in his explaining the merits of each weapon and we handled no less than 7 rifles to get the feel of each. It's important to touch what you want to buy for something as personal as a weapon so I appreciated that. read more

In the footwear section near the back of the store. When asked about pricing of the gear, he rolled his eyes (maybe thinking I couldn't see?). Whatever you do, do NOT buy a bike from this location. They are extremely disorganized. We went to this location because we thought they had the bike I wanted. They didn't but I ended up finding a different one I liked. ok no big deal. At first we couldn't even bring the bike home because the bike tech needed to check it over but there was no bike tech that day. A couple days later we get the call it's ready. Cool. We go to the store and we are told someone will be us shortly. We wait and wait. No one seems to know where the bike tech is. Wait and wait. Finally he shows up. We thought the bike looked fine and at first rode fine for the 25 feet in the store. Once home we realized they never actually checked the bike over because there were still several areas that needed tightening (Ex. the handle bars were way too loose). Luckily, the Dicks near us told us they would redo the bike check. read more

The first time we visited this store, customer service was blah. We were there last night and was looking for a new pair of sneakers. This guy Hector was amazing, he was coming back from his break and stopped to ask if we needed assistance, we said yes and he spent a ton of time explaining the difference between certain shoes so that I purchased the right one for what I needed them for. He was knowledgable and very nice. If you need help with finding the perfect fit, ask for him. He is a five star but I still give this store a 3 star! read more

I live 1 1/2 miles from the Dulles store, but will gladly continue to go to Leesburg where I find the best customer service I have ever received from ANY Dick's Sporting Goods anywhere. I have shopped with them for decades, this store is outstanding. Nermina in the women's department will give you the best assistance you could ask for. Everyone in the store is friendly and cheerful. You can't complain about the service because it's nonexistent! Called the store and they said they had what I wanted. I went in to pickup what I needed and stood in that department for 20 minutes with no one present to help me. I went home and called the Mgr on duty and he said I'm sorry, I know. Went back in the next day and stood in the same department for 20 minutes again and then walked to the front of the store and asked for the Mgr. He said " I can explain" the person in that department had a back problem and has been off for a couple of days. A company that big doesn't have enough staff to man the store properly but they are open. DON'T waste your time at this store. They would have to get better to even be bad. Terrible comes to mind. While I was excited that we were getting a Dick's store in Leesburg, this store needs a lot of work. I've gone into this store several times for various things to only find very limited options or stock - for both myself and my children. For example, given the amount of tennis that is played locally here, I'm shocked at their lack of tennis product. The thing that has me most disappointed with this store is the crappy customer service I receive. So much so that I'm taking the time to write this review to share how disappointed I am. In the half a dozen times that I've shopped at the store and made a purchase, NEVER - not once - has the transaction gone well. Today, the cashier was just a grumpy jerk - no greeting, inattentive, and just ran through the motions. And I'm pretty sure he rolled his eyes at me after he asked me if I had a scorecard and I asked whether he needed my email or phone number to look that up. No thank you or have a nice evening; he sucked. Previously, there's always been a problem with the transaction, either the equipment or the operator at checkout. I now cringe thinking about making a purchase at this store and feel that I've given them plenty of opportunities to improve the experience. There was a friendly guy on the floor today asking if I need assistance; that, in the past, has been a rarity. The manager really needs to step up and get his/her staff on board with delivering a decent customer service experience. read more

Went here looking for a treadmill. Their selection was limited, they only had 5, and it took a couple minutes for an employee to help us. I was helped by an employee named Michael, and his service was exceptional! He spent about 45 minutes fielding questions, and his coworkers were willing to come over and help answer anything he was unable to. They even grabbed screwdrivers and took apart one of the machines to answer a question for me. Overall I found the help above and beyond, and ended up buying a treadmill for a great price. read more

Most stores I use are very good about dealing with defective merchandise. Dicks is another story. About 2-3 months ago I purchased a pair of Merrell hiking boots that cost almost $150 from Dicks Leesburg location. After wearing them only 6 or so times, the gizmo at the top of the boot where you put the laces (it is a hook) came off---actually the rivet holding the lace came off, rendering it useless. I took the boots, plus the receipt, back to Dicks in Leesburg and to my chagrin they refused to accept a return saying it was beyond the 60 day return limit. Come on folks, it was a defective product. They said it was the responsibility of the manufacturer, Dicks was only the seller. I asked if they could help me with the manufacturer, the manager (who was very sullen btw) said no, I had to do that. Moral of the story---I for one will never shop there again; don't buy any product from Dicks that could become defective, if it breaks, tough luck bub, and finally, shop for hiking boots at REI (where I have always gone in the past, should have gone in the first place, and where I will shop for boots from now on) as they will accept any kind of return, regardless of manufacturer (as witnessed with the story of REI in the movie "Wild.") read more
