I took my son here to get new golf shoes- never again. I'm standing at the golf counter and 9, (maybe more) employees walked by and did everything they could to not look me in the eye. It got to be very entertaining to see what they would do instead of not helping me. To get our shoes we had to fill out what we needed on an iPad that was by the shoes. That was the only way we could get someone's attention. Once we found out what shoes we wanted we had to wait again at the desk because we needed to get the right replacements for the bottom of the shoes. The only way we got someone to help us was to fill out the iPad again that we needed another pair of shoes, but we said no we just need your help once the guy showed up. When we went to check out, we were found out we were given the wrong shoes and so we went and got the sample one so they could get us the right pair. The girl was totally bugged, but they got a pair that was $100 more. I'm going to notice that??? The cashier was very unfriendly, and was also bugged! We stepped back so she could help other customers while we waited. We could've just stood there, made the customers wait while we waited for my correct shoes-- but thought we'd be nice... she didn't smile, say thank you, etc... My boys have played baseball, football, lacrosse, and now golf, and we've always liked Dicks to get their gear. We will not be returning. I'm still amazed as I think about all the employees that walked past us that never once asked how they could help us. One guy had an earpiece in so it looked like he was maybe more in charge than the others and he actually walked past three times with no words said or eye contact! Pretty sad!!! I understand they work in different parts of the store, but they could've called someone to come and help us very easily! We are going to get shoes elsewhere and return the shoes in the morning. No more money will be spent here... and I have spent thousands at Dicks every year... So I guess I will be going back one more time. Sooo bugged!!! read more

Unfortunately, my experience was very frustrating. The employees did not seem knowledgeable or willing to help, and when I tried to return an item purchased at full price, I was offered only 10% of the value due to a missing receipt. This policy and the lack of customer service were extremely disappointing. read more

I needed winter boots (new to UT ) and this store had a great selection. I got great assistance from Sage on sizing and the boots themselves. The store also has a nice self service set up for pricing and sizing availability. Very positive experience overall. read more

Went and today to buy a Cleveland wedge for $150. It's pretty customary when you buy a club that they put on a grip that you'd like. What an awful place. They threw the 2nd Amendment under the bus, but they still sell fishing tackle, and I couldn't find what I needed anywhere closer to my home (in Ogden). So I decided to suspend my disgust for this hole and give it a shot. Bad idea. I drove 20 miles to this place just to be grossly disappointed. This place doesn't impress me enough to be a stand alone destination on my list of errands. The real name of this store is "Oh Yeah, Dick's," because it's always an after thought. We've visited the mall a lot and decided to stop in to grab some ammo. Two birds, one stone. Each time the gun counter was left unattended and were unable to get anything or look at any firearms. I don't think we should have to wander around the store tracking people down for help. You would think the gun counter is one place that needs to be watched. I've also come here and browsed around their weightlifting stuff. That section is okay. There are a few specific things I need that I wish they would carry, but I'm coming to find that a lot of sporting good stores don't carry little specialty items like liquid chalk. So I'm not going to hold it against Dick's. I've got to be honest, the employees have never had a positive impact on my visits here. None if this will scare me away. To quote the person I was shopping with/for: You must have to be a real "dick" to work at Dick's. Yep, that is how I would sum up our shopping experience here. It was a snowy evening and we were on the hunt for snow boots and a different jacket. The store is giant with that Target feel but sadly, the people working here cared more about chatting with their friends or who knows what else. This is a store that hopes their signage gets you where you need to go and that is about it. We were unable to find snow boots but I was able to get a jacket for a decent price though I almost balked due to the lack of customer service. I usually come here to get softball, baseball and even football equipment for my kids, but seem to get the worst possible customer service at this establishment. While one male associate said hi, a gaggle of young associates just gossiped in front of the registers. Brittney, one of the snobby cashiers who had to be torn from this gossip session was absolutely bothered by the fact that she had to redo my transaction to apply the military discount I forgot to mention. There was maybe a handful of people in the store, no one in line so hmm not sure what the giant issue was. I love Dicks, I do. I've been shopping there for a while. But today I got the worst costumer service ever. I live in Lehi, drove 45 min to buy a $200 sunglasses, the app shows they were available at the layton location. When I got there the employee told me our website lies, you should never trust out website and you should have call before showing up, like treating me like I'm stupid for driving 40 miles... very disappointed with her attitude and rude service. Terrible Customer Service "BEWARE" I don't know why I kept going back knowing that every time I do, I get the same terrible service and run around. I guess it was because of the limited sporting good stores in the area. But this last time was the one that broke the camels back for us. So my wife wanted a new mountain bike and feel in love with a diamond back trace that they had, but wanted the next size down. They gave her the run around that they couldn't get it ordered to the store and that going to another store to pickup wasn't an option and that she should order it right then and have it shipped to our house. Why our house and not the store made no sense to me at the time, until I realized that the salesman wouldn't get commission on the sale of he wasn't there when we came in to pick it up..... Then she attempts to get a military discount since I am a Army disabled veteran only to be told that they can't do that with online orders and that she will have to pack up the bike when it comes to the house, bring it back and return it and then buy the bike again from a new salesman at the military discount. Seriously ???? So First mistake, stay clear of the bicycle salesman who is cocky, flirts with women, and tells you lie after lie to make a sale.... He is the young Black guy (not posting a name, shouldn't be hard to figure out). He works regularly around the bikes and golf department..... Very very shady !! So my wife is told by the sleaze bag that it will take 3 days for shipment, and guess what.... the bike shows up in 14 days. She calls to bring the bike in to get assembled and get the military discount (as promised) and is told that it would take 7-14 days for assembly, your kidding me..... And they can't do a military discount now..... So now I am pissed and want to just finish this and make my wife happy by providing her with the bike that she has so patiently waited for..... So I unbox and setup for her, not much to install only to find the derailer broken into two pieces. So I bring the bike to the store to be told that I need to make a claim against UPS for breaking it during shipment and that they have already been in contact with UPS in regards to the issue.... I don't know how or why they did that since UPS wasn't the one who shipped it, but they wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise to give them that information, because remember..... There smarter and know what's best for me..... Yeh, their DICKS !!! Like I said no customer service. So after a few hours finally get a refund and I am treated like they are doing me a favor and that I owe them one, Ohhh and the refund could take 2 to 4 weeks. Like I said, this was the last straw for me...... I am writing this to hopefully save some poor soul (specifically a women) from being conned into listening to a sleazebag sales man and giving their hard earned money to a store who cares nothing about customer service, nor a veteran and their family. I looked on line first to see what ski helmets they had in stock and then went to the store this morning. They had quite a few but only half had prices and only about half even had sizes. There were empty sign holders so at one time they had prices. I called someone over and asked him about the prices and he told me I could take them to the register and have them scanned to see how much that were. I asked him why they weren't marked and he said a few of them are. He didn't offer to find out the prices or tell me anything. These negative reviews are ridiculous. Dick's is a big box sporting goods store, like the rest. They have a good selection and decent service. The staff here is friendly, and more than once have I found that they are willing to go out of their way to help me get the product I needed. I couldn't believe some of the bad reviews on yelp, I've never had an experience that would make me feel as though I were mistreated. One time they weren't able to help me find what I was looking for, and they offered to order it online...the company did pay the shipping. It took about a week to get to my house. I'm grateful that they were willing to do that. I understand that sometimes stores sell out of products and they can only do so much to get more in, so this worked out nicely. read more

Pressed the button to be let into the changing room. Took them 5 minutes to reach me. Right before they came over I pressed the button one more time (for a total of 2 times). The kid employee comes out of no where to belligerently tell me I don't need to press the button 150 times. As he's walking away I tell him I only pressed it twice. He mumbles under his breath " yeah sure, and you were just trying to shut it off"...? He then leaves and doesn't even get the key to help me and one of the other employees comes over to finally help me. First of all, why would you LIE and be condescending to a CUSTOMER as a EMPLOYEE before the customer even said anything to you. I maybe could understand having an attitude if the customer is being rude and difficult but I literally waited 5 minutes to be help and only pressed the button twice. Buyers Beware! I was a frequent customer at Dicks Sporting goods online and in store. They advertise free returns on shoes, and price match guarantee. I have ordered a few sizes of shoes for my kids who I do not want to take in store and have had to return some of the items or exchange. On occasion I have had to price match an item. Instead of exchanging or price adjustment, the clerk has returned the items and resold it to me. So recently out of the blue, I received a refusal for return or exchange on an item for 180 days! I just wanted a different color! It turns out they have hired a company to track the number of returns people make so they can eliminate those customers. Well, I know this isn't completely unusual for companies to do, just quite shocking to see "free returns", and price match guarantee advertised all over their store and ads. This is not Costco folks, they do not stand behind their products. They punish people if you don't know exactly what size you want when you purchase it, or if you need to bring back because it is defective. Be careful, when spending your $ here! read more

Went in with my Dad the other night (around 7PM) to help get him set up with a new driver for the upcoming golf season. There were no customers in sight and no employees in the golf section so we asked a cashier to send someone over to the golf simulator to assist us. I don't know if she was having a bad day or just a generally rude and immature individual, but she acted like we were putting her through a major crisis to help us. Eventually an employee came over and began setting up the simulator. When we told him my Dad was left-handed and that the simulator needed to be adjusted, he heaved a large sigh and said it would be a while (a family friend of ours has a similar setup in his garage, adjusting from righty to lefty takes maybe 3 minutes). As he was moving the monitor to the left side of the mat, he said he 'accidentally ripped out a wire' and that he'd need to order a new part for it to work. We offered to help fix it but he insisted that it was irreparable and that we would need to reschedule for a later day. We declined to reschedule and headed into the Mall to grab a couple of things. After an hour or so, we were exiting through Dick's and noticed the same employee helping someone in the simulator. Everything was working fine; the only differences were that the customer was right handed, female, blonde, and had large breasts. This location is a circus filled with high school aged employees who aren't bright enough to realize the importance of keeping customers happy. I didn't catch the employee's name who attempted to help us; he's obese, has a beard, and uses the simulator to pick up chicks. We were ready to spend $500+, but instead took our business elsewhere. My advice, do your research on whatever you need before heading in to the store; that way you know exactly what you want and won't be dependent on the employees. If it's anything golf related, skip this location or just head straight to Uinta, golf Galaxy, etc. read more
