Hooray for Bass Pro and their support of RVers. While I didn't shop at the store today, it's this sort of thing that puts Bass Pro at the top of my list for camping gear or stuff I need for the RV. There is such a large variety for colors and lots of sizes available. I ended up getting hiking boots and base layers to keep me warm during my trip. I respect and appreciate REI Gainesville's attention to safety including requiring people to wear face masks plus enforcing distancing and providing hand sanitizer. I think it's unfair that the negative reviews are people complaining about safety protocols. My experiences have been great. I was a little disappointed in the lack of selection in the cycling gear department, but overall there is excellent merchandise with very helpful sales associates. The quality of REI merchandise is high, and it is priced based on the quality. If you want cheap, I suggest going to a discount store where your gear will not last as long. My last visit I was especially impressed with the sales associate who checked me out. I don't shop much in person these days due to having leukemia, but the protocols were exceptional and I felt safe there. I will definitely return, and I highly recommend shopping at REI Gainesville!

A few times in the past two decades with a few friends who knew what they were doing. It was going to be 4 hours or so on the river. The weather was beautiful and it was so wonderful to soak in all the greens surrounding us. Quite a few herons, osprey, and some kind of warbler. Very nice distance to drive from Gainesville and everyone in there kayak trip today was from Gainesville and they were all very nice. The drive to kayak destination and back in itself was a nice trip with change of scenery and getting out of town on a weekend to avoid the hussles and bussles of every weekend stuff with groceries and errands. Some people saw some alligators and were trying to point them out hiding but we didn't see any on the same trip! We are told that they don't bother people much in general:) When I expreeesed the concern about not being able to keep up with all other kayakers, my husband said that he would leave me behind and if an alligator has not gotten to me on the way back, he will bring me back home if I fall behind. Yes, he is the perfect picture of support!!!! Lars is very laid back and knowledgeable and easy to talk to and we learned a lot during this trip and would love to come back for more. It was such a fun great nature trip!!!!!

There was one person finishing up a transaction, and before it was even over, one of the two workers asked how he could help me. I also needed a water bottle cage with my valve caps. As I stepped to pay, he informed me that they were FREE!! I know it just a little piece of plastic, but it always feels good to get free stuff! I have always been treated well here, and I am glad it is right on the 6th St bike path, because it is on my way.

If they had asked, I would've told them I had a pump at home, and am perfectly capable of using it. Obviously it was a relatively minor infarction ($10-$15), but I'm a 21 yo woman, already fairly apprehensive of going to a repair shop on my own. I was let down. Not sure what bike repair etiquette is, but performing a service without asking the customer and then charging them for it seems pretty inappropriate to me, no matter the SOP. My bike is fixed though, so that's nice.
