I had an item ready for pickup, I couldn't pick it up the day of as I had to work and was going to pick it up the next day. (According to the Dicks's website you have a 4 day grace window to pick up your order) They canceled my order (paid for) the next day and they admittedly sold my item to another customer. They didn't uphold company policies. The worse customer service. I had to go to another Dick's and repurchase my item. That other Dicks had amazing customer service. I had to leave a review for these two young men , Izzy and Benjamin, who provide the best customer service I have received in a very long time. They were so patient with my husband and I. We were not sure what shoes we wanted or what would work best for us, but they were very knowledgeable about shoes for different types of foot issues ( high arches, flat feet, etc.). We tried on quite a few pairs of shoes and never once did they seem annoyed although they were very busy assisting other customers as well. We were both fitted with perfect shoes and left very happy customers. read more

I never thought of shopping for soccer or baseball items at Dick's Sporting Goods store but since my niece had reminded me that one was nearby our home (Chula Vista), I decided to give Dick's a try. Mission Valley was the other location I had in mind but wasn't feeling an 18 mile drive that day. It was a couple weekend mornings ago when my niece stopped by to look for soft ball equipment. With staff's helpful assistance, she was able to get all the age appropriate items for my 7 year old granddaughter. I then picked up the saved items later that day and made my purchase. Since I was on limited time, I made a quick stop at the baseball section just to get some ideas on prices. Prior to making it over to the register, I also skimmed through some clothing racks that were right in front of the register area. Nothing interesting popped out. I thought to myself that stuff was no different than shopping at a Nike, Adidas or Under Armor outlet store. Not exactly impressed with the prices but I must say Dick's takes the cake on heavy stock on sporting goods and sportswear. I didn't have to look at every area of the store but it was clear to me, the store was packed with merchandise. One-stop shop. With regards to customer service, I don't recall being greeted when I first entered the store but from my observation, there was a good amount of staff readily available at each register. I was second in line, moving right along, no issues here. On same note, staff members on the floor appeared to be busy while customers were moving throughout store. The male cashier that rang up my purchases was friendly and polite. He also tried to up-sale me on other items related to my purchases, but I declined. Not really sure if I would shop at Dick's sporting goods again due to their merchandise being on the pricey side. However, I definitely know where to go should Big 5, Walmart or Target be out of stock on sporting good items. In conclusion, I would have rather waited until I was able to actually shop around a little bit more before giving a fair rating on my shopping experience. If you're considering working here, just know this: you're going to be pushed hard to get credit card sign-ups, even if your job title has nothing to do with sales. Cashiers especially are constantly pressured to pitch the Dick's credit card, often with management dangling tasks or shift preferences like, "Get a card first, then we'll talk." It's frustrating, manipulative, and honestly insulting. What makes it worse? Employees get zero commission for getting sign-ups, even though the company profits hugely off them through bank kickbacks, interest, and late fees. It's clearly a system designed to push financial products onto customers (many of whom are younger or lower-income) while using front-line, minimum wage employees as unpaid salespeople. If you like being overworked, underpaid, and guilt-tripped into pushing credit cards with no benefit to you, this is the place. Otherwise, think twice. read more

Tried out Dick's in hopes they would be alright since reliable stringers are a bit of a drive for me. What a mistake that was. This is easily the worst racquet stringing service in the area, maybe even in all of San Diego. - took 2 days to string 1 racquet (told me no other racquet was in queue) - tried to charge me for strings that I brought - frayed poly strings, warped grommets, pretty sure my racquet frame is slightly warped as well - Strings aren't even grid straight; and used too much string for some mains and crosses They charge you $25 for service + whatever marked up string price they offer (ex. they tried to charge me $19 for one set of lynx tour). DO NOT get your racquets strung here, their stringer Pete is amateur level and will screw your stringing up. You are way better off taking the extra time to drive to a real stringing service. read more

I've shopped here two days in a. Row for curbside pickup during COVID-19. One day was for a elliptical machine and the other was for some dumbbells. The first day for the machine took longer (it was huge) but we got it and the employees were friendly. The second day was pretty quick and the employees again were friendly. I am really upset I have to even write this and put my business out there. I have a mental health disorder and was in a state of dissociation and amnesia when my debit and credit cards were stolen from me. People like to take advantage of people like me so I made sure all my credit cards and bank cards say ask for Identification prior to purchase. Someone stole my debit card and used it to charge $1,277.72 on clothes and equipment at Dicks Chula Vista. Bc they were able to use my atm card, my money is not being refunded. The person clearly did not have my identification and was able to spend all that money without the cashier asking for id. I called the store no return calls. I called corporate-they tell me they don't help in those situations and that I need to deal with my own bank. I followed everything properly by calling immediately, filing a police report, and communicating my concern about how someone can spend almost $1,500 in one go without any identification confirmation. This money is NOT being returned to me and I never even received a call back or any view that I with mental health issues matter. I'm in a vulnerable population and was taken advantage of without any concern from the store or corporation. I'm reading their values and visions statements which they clearly do not back up with action. the market position for this company says it has the following primary values of: Improves lives Exceeding expectations. Dicks Sporting Goods also has listed core values which comprise "passion, quality-first, customer-friendly, honesty, and respect." Over the years, this company has thrived so much due to the healthy internal environment created by these core values per their website. I don't think my life has been improved by their reaction to my circumstances, have received no respect from anyone who works there, and doubt that the cashier's inability to follow store policy can be viewed as exceeding expectations. I also don't know that they have any respect for the people who are negatively affected by lack of response and failure to follow basic policies. If they had bare minimum checked and asked for an id, I would not be having to eschew mental health treatment and buying vegetables because my life savings was wiped out. I even had the name of the person, the day and time. It would have been so easy for someone to help me here and they did not. I can't afford rent simply because two months of expenses were taken from me during a period of mental health breakdown and I'm working with someone on my end to protect myself better but they should do their part as well. They kept rerouting me to a phone number that was all automated and never reach a real person who would simply listen. I always supported Dicks but not now. The incident happened at the beginning of May by the way. I've been trying to resolve this matter every single day and truly hope they do back up what they wrote with some type of action. read more

This store isn't bad. Staffs are friendly. The only issues I have with this store is that the price tags says differently when they ring you up. So check your receipts. This happened twice for me. This is a well organized DSG. But...looking at the prices as far as athletic wear is concerned its pricey. They had a sale tent outside the day I came here and even then it didnt seem like much of a sale overall with items still running $20-$30 for clothing and over $50-$60 for shoes. Nike seems to be a favorite amongst the merch here with a splash of Under Armour and Adidas. Don't come here thinking you can bargain shop. This ain't the store for that. Customer service is horrible. Employees hide on their phones in the shoe area, took 1 hour to try on one pair of shoes doesn't seem like management actively holds reps accountable. Purchased my daughters first real bike. Before buying it I saw the stems were a little slanted sticking out of the tires. I asked for help in the bike center and a employee named Carl came to help. I told him my concern and I was gonna purchase the schwinn for my little girl. He started with fixing the stems and next thing you know he's adjusting the brakes and giving the whole bike a look through. The last step was awesome he adjusted the seat to her as well. Came in on a Saturday to purchase a pair of goalkeeper gloves. I used them on Sunday for about an hour and to my surprise the gloves were falling apart after 30 minutes of normal wear. I came the following day with receipt in hand to see if there was anything that could have been done and to check on the manufacturers warranty. Not only did the girl at the counter didn't mind to look at my receipt, but she also instructed me to get information about the manufacturers warranty. As far as I know, if they are selling a certain product they should be the ones with the knowledge of this type of information. Lastly I asked to speak with a manager. She came back saying the manager had said the gloves could not be return or exchanged and that he was busy and could not see me. Very poor customer service. Whether there's pandemic or not, staff should attend to customers. I've been going in that store for few times because they messed up my bike assembly esp. the disc brakes. Their suppose to order it 3weeks ago but come to find out they just ordered it 3days ago. They don't even follow up to see what's going on. Basically, my bike was in their store for almost a month waiting to get fixed. Every time I go in there and ask for any updates, they made me wait for at least 30mins to come and talk to me. They don't communicate amongst themselves. What a disappointment. Let's start with the inventory. There signs claimed to have sizes for youth down to three. However, the employee I was able to find showed me that they don't carry anything under size five in youth. I went there for two other items, both for adults, and was told that the two items were not items they usually stock. It's suppose to be a sport store, but it seems to be more for those "athletes" who spend more time on the couch than in the field. Another employee offered free shipping if I ordered it online through them. Why even bother renting out a huge building if your best merchandise has to be ordered online? On to the service. Don't waste time looking for an employee. They're all hiding in the back. Instead, look for a suspiciously concealed button you push to alert the store that you require help. Once you push the button, prep yourself for some radically poor customer service by people who either don't know or don't seem to care. I purchased a Garmin s40 golf watch for $299.00 online on 12/23 and had it picked up on Christmas Eve. The bag was sealed, but it was strange that the box had a "DISPLAY" sticker. I didn't think anything of it and just immediately wrapped it up for my boyfriend. Come Christmas Day, he unwraps his gift and says "thanks babe! Are you charging the watch for me?" To my confusion Bc I had not even OPENED the box, I looked and NO WATCH WAS IN THE BOX!! Not to be dramatic but how embarrassing and disappointing was that!! I was livid. I tried calling, emailing and figured I'll go first thing in the morning.. Walked in, explained my situation.. the girl(I wish I got her name but long brown curly haired young girl) went to check on the watch for about 20 mins. Came back and basically just threw the box to me without any apology or compassion. Clearly it was their mistake for NOT checking the product before handing it off. I asked if there were any watches that weren't display and she says "no, we have 3 and they're all on display!" - why the heck are all the watches on display so everyone can put their greasy hands on them?! There wasn't even a protective sticker on the watch! Needless to say, I had the worst experience there and the ratings on this place shows. Next time- be more kind, double check your items before sending it off, and apologize when you're wrong. read more

Terrible service, came here to pick up my brand new mountain bike, which I was so excited for. The second they gave it to me, I went outside and biked around l, THE RIGHT PEDAL FELL OFF. Yes, I nearly planted on the ground and my thigh got hit very hard. I came in and rather than offering me an extra service or something for my inconvenience, they do nothing and just put the pedal back on. Btw, it took them 15 minutes to put it on. This is what I posted to their Customer Feedback page on the website: I've been highly disappointed with my recent visits to Dick's stores in San Diego. Last night I went to the store in Chula Vista, CA, hoping to check out some Slow pitch softball bats. I went to the adult bat section and was surprised to see only 10 bats that fit into the slow pitch category, and they were ALL the EXACT same bat...same brand, same size, same weight. I then noticed that there were only two racks of adult aluminum baseball bats (approx. 20 bats, many of which were the same as well) but there were TEN racks of WOODEN BATS, equaling over 100 bats!!!...WOOD BATS! Are you kidding me? I asked an assoc. (once I was finally able to find one, btw) and he reluctantly came to my assistance (a whole other issue, as it's hard to find an assoc. as it is) he had no assistance or explanation to offer...not really his fault as this is obviously an issue above his pay grade...i.e. whomever orders this stuff. I understand that your store is more "seasonal", catering to the sports that are in season, but slow pitch softball is ALWAYS in season in this area, and to only offer 10 single bats that are exactly the same in a store the size of Dick's is ridiculous....not only minimal inventory, but zero variety in what little inventory you do have is, honestly, kind of insulting. Wood bats? Really? There might be only a handful of baseball leagues in the whole county who even play with wood bats. This implied to me that whomever is in charge of ordering product is so out of touch with the area sports seasons and what should be in the stores that they're supposed to be in charge of. I had a similar issue while looking for softball cleats the previous week, too. I went to two different stores and not only was there limited selection (again, for a year-round sport like softball) but the inventory for what the store DID have was miniscule, too, and I'm talking about common sizes (10-11). I really hope this is something that someone takes seriously because it seems as though while Dick's Sporting Goods takes over from the likes of Sports Authority and dominates the retail sporting goods arena, the bigger you get, the less you care. If I could give a negative review I would! I placed an order online for in-store pickup. I received a call a short time later saying that the size I had was the only one in stock, however, the store associate Chrisitan tore the shirt while taking off the security tag. He then proceeded to offer me 10% off if I still wanted the shirt. I asked him if they had more shirts but in a different size, he said yes and I asked him to please hold the other two sizes at the front and my husn=band would be in to take a look at them and decide what size he wanted. I asked him not to cancel the order, but what did he do? Cancel the order! My husband shows up at the store and the order was canceled (prepaid), no one knows about the shirts on hold.
