Bought the Isle Pioneer 3 to use as a kayak. I'm 78 years old and thought that it would make getting on and off easier. It does not! The board is wider than any previous kayak I've owned, which makes it more stable as a SUP, and for adding pets or carry items, but it also makes it slower and clumsy on the water. I used it twice and decided to return it within the 60 return period. I filled out the online form and, per their instructions, and was informed that someone would contact me with next steps. NO RESPONSE. After a couple days I called, was put on hold, and again left contact info. NO RESPONSE. Continued to call 3x more, again left contact info. Still NO RESPONSE. Returning a product should be a no-brainer. Isle has a 5 star product but 1 star customer service. At this point, I would discourage anyone from doing business with them. read more

If you're in the market for aggravation, disappointment, and bamboozlement by way of price gouging, then purchasing from ISLE is for you!!! Let me see if I can wrap all this up in a brief package, as Im truly not one to spread negativity (this is the 1st negative review Ive ever written), but I feel it necessary to share my experience about this product so that the public has experiences to make informed decisions. To be fully transparent, I bought my inflatable paddle board from ISLE in 2015. Yes, thats 5yrs ago, however I admittedly mildly used it, probably a total of 12 times over the course of those years and it lives in my bedroom, so it has been kept in impeccable condition. Within the first year of buying it, both the paddle and the gauge on the foot pump broke. The paddle broke the 2nd time I used it and the gauge broke the 3rd time I used it. Aggravating, but because it was within the 1st yr and warranty, ISLE replaced both items. Well, fast forward to present time. I pumped my board up, conservatively within the recommended limits of psi, picked it up to walk it to the water, took two steps and the board exploded in my arm. It was a terrifying sound like a gunshot and a violent jarring, as you'd expect from something inflatable withholding so much pressure, but NOT what you should expect from a product, and mind you, one of the most expensive paddle board products on the market, supposedly built for this design. I spent $714 on this ISLE paddleboard. There are exceptional ones on the market for just $300, which I'll get to recommending later. To make matters worse, in explaining this to ISLE, the consistent response was "here's 30% off your next ISLE purchase, thats all we can offer you." Did I mention the product exploded while I was carrying it!? It was on my person. thats dangerous! Further, that 30% off, which I certainly would not invest anymore money into this company, was unusable as all the inflatable paddle board options on their site are either "coming soon" or "preorder now." When you invest your money, its not only in the product but in the customer service and the expectation that the company values goodwill and the customers that support their business. I did not experience that, despite my best efforts to find a compromise benefiting both parties involved. To their credit, amidst my several emails expressing this experience and disappointment, there was was customer service rep that did keep responding, albeit with the same lame offer to "rectify" the issue, but at least they didn't ghost me...??? This is where I landed... lower my standards of customer service. Disappointed is a gross understatement. You're free to make your own decisions, but ISLE products are EXPENSIVE and of POOR QUALITY. That said, if you're looking for an inflatable paddle board, I would recommend Retrospec (https://retrospec.com) Their "Weekender" board is $300 and a dream. I didn't realize what a literal drag my ISLE board was aside from all this nonsense with poor quality, but it was so heavy I had no idea until I had contrast. Im athletic and strong and was constantly wondering why I couldn't keep up with my friends and was always working so hard. On the Retrospec I just glide with delight. It comes complete with a back pack (I had to buy that as extra from ISLE), a leash (ISLE did not provide one), a pump, the board, the paddle, the fins, and they even included a waterproof pouch for you cell phone! All for $300!!! Thoughtful good customer service and product. And you know what, if this board explodes in 5 yrs, I won't care, bc I spent $300, not $700+ which felt like highway robbery and trickery. read more

For years I wavered about trying SUP. In my fleet of kayaks, canoes, dinghies, and sailboats, could I possibly need one more way to paddle across the bay? Apparently so, . The staff understood all aspects of paddling and could help me relate which board worked best for me. Once I was 75% convinced, they showed me new inventory, used inventory, and all the sales and promotions running. With zero pressure, I ended up with the Isle explorer board with everything I needed to get on the water that afternoon. I even upgraded to a 12v pump making it simple to get the board to 15psi as the pump shut off perfectly while I ready'd my gear. The board is light and maneuvers well. The paddle fully adjustable and I quickly felt at home paddling the San Diego back bay. If you have any doubt about a large purchase, stop by the store and quiz the staff as they understand all aspects of the sport. read more

I got a new Isle board early this year, and use it almost daily. We had a violent wind storm a few days ago which caused the board to blow off the rack, and it landed on a stone wall, resulting in a crack on the top surface. When we contacted Isle to inquire about the proper way to repair the crack, they sent out an epoxy repair kit, for no charge, even though the damage was in no way their fault. Without a doubt, they have some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. We came in for the summer warehouse sale. My wife and I live in an apartment, don't have a big car or roof rack so a traditional stand up paddle board wasn't in the cards. We chose to go with inflatable SUPs. Unfortunately my board had a slow leak in it. I stopped by The warehouse Craig greeted me at the door. He was very friendly, apologized for the inconvenience that it must have caused me and committed to me to make it right. He found another board, inflated it and left it overnight to double check to make sure there were no leaks. He then left it inflated and waited for me to pick it up to verify that my replacement board was in good shape. As I was leaving, he offered me a sandwich since I had stopped by during lunchtime. I had originally bought a paddleboard on amazon, I didn't want to spend a ton of money on something I didn't know that I would use regularly. I was really not having any luck standing on my board and although i knew most of it was in my head, i had tried a friends isle board and although I wasn't any good at standing on her board I knew i could get there. So I started calling Isle and asking so many questions, letting them know i was also a bit timid and Jake was amazing, stayed on the phone with me multiple times for 15-20 min as i rattled off my questions, so when I went there Saturday morning, i still had a million questions, because this is an investment. Yes, it's a desert, but beggars can't be choosers and I'll take what I can get! My friend has a 23' boat and I thought I'd contribute to the fun and purchase the Paddle Board Package, with 2 Gliders (SUP) and 2 Carbon Paddles- Free Shipping is what sealed the deal! AWESOME!! I called customer support with questions before purchasing the boards and Craig was helpful, honest and knowledgeable. I took his advice with no doubts that this dude knew what he was talking about. I had reservations about the boards fitting on my Altima and he took the extra step to email me with a picture of a SUP board on a Mini Cooper, talk about exceeding my expectations! We did have one little hiccup with the freight service that forgot one of the boards in LA, but that company did everything in their power to make it right; from offering to come in on a Saturday so I could pick them up to trying to accommodate my schedule for a home delivery and promising my board would be in Las Vegas by the next day. We weren't in a hurry to get the boards and they went the extra mile to make the situation right, so at that moment, I would have rated this a 4 star review. It was free shipping! ...Probably would have been a different story had I paid for it... With several more calls to customer service about how to install the fin, the proper way to strap my boards to my car, purchase board bags and wall racks, they knew me as the girl in Las Vegas because my voice sounded familiar. And my latest call was a few dimples/cracks in my board because of how we transported the SUP in the boat. I emailed them photos and he assured me that it's normal wear and tear and then emailed me with photos of when I really need to be concerned about the board cracking. ...I am impressed... The staff is so friendly, it's like you're speaking with your friends. We took it out surfing one time and we noticed a ding after the surf session. I purchased an inflatable SUP from ISLE explorer back in 2018 and it has been the most convenient and awesome board to take out and paddle around Mission Bay, the canals in Long Beach and up in Marina Del Ray. I recently lost the center piece of my paddle last Saturday at Mission Bay. I was pretty upset at myself and figure I'd have to buy a whole new paddle. I emailed ISLE on Sunday evening asking if they could sell me a replacement part even though they didn't have it listed online. My worries were I'm going to have to spend at least $150 for my carelessness. I received an email the very next morning from Bart telling me to send photos of my paddle to see what I was actually missing. Bart told me to swing by the shop and he'd give me the part at no charge. Initially on his email he mentioned he'd give me the lower clip so I figured I'd bring my paddle with me in case there was a misunderstanding. When I got to the shop Bart confirmed there was a misunderstanding and I told him I'd pay for the replacement part. Bart took the 2 pieces that remained of my paddle to the back got the replacement part even went above and beyond to make sure the replacement part fit perfect as well as gave me tips on maintenance of my paddle. When I asked him how much I owed him to my surprise he said nothing! I mean seriously this guy just left me speechless with his customer service and his kindness. I'm glad this is a local company that makes SUP that are ranked in the top 10 of quality boards. I highly recommend ISLE and will be buying my next epoxy board from them! We bought a paddleboard this summer at Isle. It is absolutely gorgeous! Probably the best looking board I've ever seen, but looks are only skin deep. In fact the skin is the real problem. On the first day, within the first few minutes of use, the skin failed and the beautiful wood board was ruined. It had a slight crack. We used it in a bay! No waves, no stress, just normal use! WHAT! The worst part is that it actually started sucking in water. We hear the water splashing inside. Anyway, after spending $990 on this board we now find out that there's no warranty! The company refused to do anything to help us out. I don't think that's right. I would never ever recommend such a shady company and we won't ever use them again. I had my first encounter with Isle Surfboards last year when they brought their paddle boards out to Mission Bay for free demos. Mark (the owner) answered questions, gave suggestions and generally encouraged. And from the first time I got on the board, I have been plotting and planning on getting my own. I had asked Mark to let me know if they had any boards that fit my requirements come in and he got back to me almost immediately. Thanks to Mark and his great staff, I went to their store on Saturday and picked up my board and accessories. I'm thrilled and can't wait to go out on the bay. **My only regret is not paying more attention to the questions about where I was going to store my new board. First my 9'2 Longboard E-Core Surfboard start having cracks on the deck due to foot pressure after only 2 years. Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! Several weeks ago I ordered a board and paddle online from Isle's site. I went into the process hesitant as I normally want the opportunity to try before I buy and this was going to be my first SUP purchase. After much thought, I placed my order and within a day of placing my order the board was shipped. When the board came, I followed Isle's great advice and inspected everything before accepting the package. Unfortunately there was damage to the deck of the board that would have called for a complex repair and let's face it, when you spend this much money on something you want/expect it to be pristine out of the box. I immediately called Isle and talked to Craig who was really chill and apologetic. While on the phone, he immediately checked his stock and had a board set-up to ship the very next day! The second board arrived 3 business days later and was perfect. Thus far I've been able to get the board on flat-water once and it was a perfect fit for me. Bottom Line: Awesome customer service, super-fast turnaround, great info/advice for picking the right board and I would order from them again. read more

Recently I had a strange situation with a paddle breaking that had been barely used, but was past its warranty. The paddle head broke off while paddling, and the break appeared to be a manufacturing defect. After a bit of an explanation and discussion process, Isle decided to stand behind their product and replaced the paddle. I'm truly grateful for their commitment to quality and customer service. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of a SUP gift for Christmas. However, due to the nature and expense, it wasn't a surprise and I was able to go to Isle to pick one out. There are several surf stores near us in Encinitas, but we took the drive down to Nat City (never been) to save several hundred dollars. All boards in the store were $150 off. The associate suggested a few good boards for beginners (and inflatable and a standard), the size for me, the size if my husband wanted to use it and pros/cons between the two boards. I needed up selecting the Versa, the standard option, over the inflatable. This was his recommendation if we had a place to store it, and we do. Ready to purchase the new board (reg $795 on sale for $645), the associate mentions he has a barely used one for $595. We took a look and it was basically brand new except for a few minor scratches, which I'm more than positive would have occurred on a first use anyway. Both boards came with a free paddle too (we opted to upgrade to an adjustable for $45). Settled again on the used board, and he knocked another $20 off. We were already sold at $595, but $575?! Even better. We walked in the store expecting to spend about twice the amount. I am so happy we took the trek down here!! Totally worth it. Can't wait to try out my new board. read more
