Prefacing this review that communication with staff and scheduling was a good experience for me. We were even able to adjust our start time by a bit as we ran a tad late and appreciate that they were dog friendly, although disclaiming that no dog vests or human vests are provided We unfortunately didn't have the best SUP experience. Our boards didn't seem to be in the best shape, all 3 of them would frequently submerge in water. I've never experienced that with other SUP rentals. This is a wake zone so boats will constantly be coming to and fro on top of the tides (which are understandably uncontrollable) so it made for a challenging time. The individual who set us up was going to give our friend who hasn't paddleboarded before a very quick run down, but got distracted by other people inquiring so we were left a bit puzzled to take off by ourselves We also requested only one hour, but when pricing was requested, the two hour rate was requested. I took the individuals word so we went ahead and paid, but I realized after the fact that it was for 2 hours and so they said they couldn't refund us right there and then, but if we were to just take an hour we could reach back out, but it seemed a bit burdensome read more

I was really impressed with Sup Coronado. The entire process was seamless and truly wonderful. From making the reservation, getting the details of where to meet and then paddle boarding on Coronado, we could not have asked for a better experience. Once meeting Vicki, we were offered different size boards, waterproof cell phone cases, life vests and a waste belt. She didn't restrict where we could go in the water either. We were free to wander and wander we did. It was choppy waters and boats were everywhere, but we loved it. I highly recommend this company to anyone! read more

My boyfriend and I were in Coronado for a weekend and really wanted to try out paddle boarding. We found SUP Coronado online, and scheduled our rental 1 day in advance. Scheduling the appointment was super easy via text. The meet-up location was an adorable park. We saw Vicki around 11:00 AM and she helped us figure out proper form with the paddle and how to stand up, as first time paddle boarders. My bf and I were convinced that we would fall in, but it was actually quite simple to get the hang of it. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The location of the beach site is perfect for views of San Diego and the Coronado Bridge. Great experience on a gorgeous October afternoon. Our instructor Wade was very clear with his instructions and patient. He made sure we were safe out on the water while having fun. Also got a little history lesson about Coronado Island after we had paddle boarded onto the shore. Everyone in the party had a really fun time. It was a little challenging to find the place we would be meeting the instructor, but he guided us via phone (and was super chill about it). We met on the beach and we paddle boarded from where we start to the other beach. It's possible to do the whole thing without falling and it's possible to do this not knowing how to swim. Really fun and accessible way to SUP in SD! The launch area beach is really low key and peaceful with a big public parking lot right next to it, so smooth sailing from the beginning. I texted them and immediately got a response from Wade who was there quickly to unlock a board, paddle, vest, and phone case and gave me the rest of the afternoon to enjoy on my adventure. I'm an experienced paddler so didn't need any instruction but Wade gave great tips on the route to take based on wind direction, avoid the channel, etc. I only wish I could have stayed out longer but got a solid 3 hours in. *Suggestion for paddlers*: keep paddling past the first sandy outcrop after crossing under the bridge (on your right), then continue past the golf course (also on your right) and on the horizon will be a public shore exactly like the launch location, with benches , restrooms, water fountains, playground, monuments, nice people & dogs swimming and sunbathing ! :-) read more

They assigned the correct board for having no previous experience. They provided tips on holding the paddle correctly and stance on the board. Had the most amazing experience today! My family went out to kayak but we needed a life vest for one family member that did not have one. They told us we can just BORROW it! How cool! This was a blast! We went with a group of girls on a sunny Saturday morning for a bachelorette party excursion. It's been too long and I can't remember our guide/instructor's name but she was really sweet. She basically let us kind of do our own thing but gave us some really good tips and guided us where to go. She also stayed with the girls that needed more instruction. SUP-ing is tough! You use your whole body. This was my second time and I finally felt like I was getting the hang of things. The best tip of all is once you are up on the board start paddling asap. Don't look down, look to the horizon and PADDLE! This helps to keep your balance in check. Thankfully, the bay was smooth. I did fall off the board once too. And with this the other tip is do not bring sunglasses, keys, cameras with you. If you fall off your board, they will sink, and you will be sad. Additionally, if you are too scared then you can also sit down or kneel on the board and paddle. This is a fun activity if in the SD area. You may want to do some arm workouts and lifting at the gym prior because you have to carry your board to and from the parking lot and it is way heavier than you might think. Many breaks were taken during that walk! read more

Went to Coronado and looked on yelp and google to find a rental spot. Came by SUP Coronado and decided to call them to see where they are located. I had two SUP sessions with Crystal that were a combination of a refresher course and coast tour. She was pretty patient because I hadn't gone out on a paddle board in about 6 months and had only been on a river before. She was very helpful in getting me on the right board for my skill level and the conditions. She was also pretty good about tailoring the time and distance to what I was ready for. The first day was more practice and the second was a little longer run along the beachfront & coast. I think if I would have asked for a longer tour, she would have been happy to do it. She was really flexible about time and where we were going to go which I appreciated. She also had some pretty interesting information to share about the Coronado Bridge, the skyline of San Diego, the Hotel Del Coronado, the beaches in the area, and the Bay. After breakfast we headed down to Sup Coronado to rent paddle boards for the morning. Super easy to rent and get going. The guys sitting under the canopy are easy and laid back. It took us no more than 5 minutes to fill out the paperwork and get our boards and then we were floating around the area. If you've never been your GPS will take you to a parking lot next to the skate park. Don't bother looking for a building because you won't find one. These guys have a canopy set up right at the water and you will see them. They have plenty of paddle boards and kayaks for you and great prices. Our group loves coming down to Coronado and will definitely be returning to these guys any time we want to do some paddle boarding. read more

I'm in Coronado on business, attending a conference at a nearby hotel all week. I get one afternoon off, and I was so lucky to get the chance to stand up paddle board. Vicky(-ie?) was so awesome and laid back, really helping my SUP experience the whole time. I did the SUP and Pub package, where we paddled for about an hour or so, crossing underneath the bay bridge, then stopped in between for a beer break. That was just exactly at the right time- during sunset with the city skyline in the background. Beautiful! Next, we went to two different craft brew pubs in San Diego (forgot the name of the first one, but the second was Torch), with a stop at "Barrio Dog" for some gourmet hot dogs (yes, it's a thing. And damn tasty...) at the request of a member of our group. The beer was fantastic. Vicky was there giving me insight on each beer I drank and some insight on life in Coronado. Vicki was awesome and we are planning to go back for a second outing tomorrow morning. She is super friendly and from what I saw, very accommodating to all of her clients. My wife and I are experienced paddleboarders and we picked up our boards and hit the water within 5 minutes. Vicki launches her boards from a perfect spot for newcomers to get the feel for paddleboarding. Life jackets or not, experienced swimmers or not, the beach area is great and if you fall, you can just stand up in the 4 ft of water. On the instruction part. I've been paddleboarding for 5 years and my wife, for two years. I have introduced and trained many people to the sport and I've learned that the best instructors at ones that let you learn through experience while being there for pointers. Vicki doesn't have people in the ocean -that would be bad - she has folks in a protected harbor, the ideal spot for falling a few times and learning how to paddle. Vicki - we had an awesome time today and we will be back! All others, this is a perfect place to learn. They didn't "give up" as you said, you took off without them with 2 adults!! I asked for a Paddleboard LESSON, why would i spend $140.00 for 2 kids that were "uninterested"? They were unexperienced, there is a big difference! My Children didn't "opt out" of life vests, why are you lying about that? I specifically asked you as they were no where to be found, if you recall, you arrived late. the boards were there but no life vests. Luckily, my children are athletic AND are excellent swimmers! I'm glad you no longer do group lessons, i didn't sign up for a group lesson, i think you just added as many people as you could for $70.00 per person! If i had know this was a group lesson i would have never signed my children up for the first paddle board experience! My kids were abandoned by you right out of the water, no life vests, no instruction, no lesson. You expect 2 kids with zero prior experience to follow you? You took off leaving them on their knees, on boards with a paddle! I can post the pictures to prove it. It's really not good business to insult your clients and then lie about what happened. There are too many reputable companies who treat a "paddle board lesson" as a Lesson. An apology would have been much better than insulting my children and lying about what happened!! read more
