A tremendous day on the water was snatched from the jaws of disaster. I had family friends visiting and we wanted to take a 4-hour cruise on the Big Bay. I rented a Duffy from the Kona Kai location and it was broken. Bob there, immediately called Gus at Paradise Point location and secured us a pontoon boat, honoring the same price. It was crowded on the dock and hectic. It was crowded in Mission Bay. But the sun was signing brightly, the wind was nice, and another family memory will be in our scrapbooks for decades. Terrible service. Staff on their phones when we walked in, took forever to help us, and the girl (Emma) seemed irritated and bored when she finally did help us. We had a reservation, and 1/2 hour later we are still waiting for it. Staff walks in and out near us and not one smile or Hello, it looks like they hate their job. I told Emma to smile jokingly, and she gave me a dirty look. We paid over $600 for this rental, and they made us feel so uncomfortable that we feel like walking away. What a shame, action sports should be embarrassed, and Loews Resort should take notice of this. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We called and had a reservation set, but when we got there for the time of our reservation, we were turned away because they "hadn't put it in the system" and they put someone else in OUR spot which we had reserved. They had our name on a piece of paper. Ridiculous. There was no communication between the two workers present. I was really excited to rent the quad bike but since the workers here don't know how to do their job, we got screwed over. Will not come back, and will absolutely NOT recommend this place. They didn't offer any compensation or anything. On their website, the very first company policy says that customers are their priority. Well that's the biggest lie I've ever heard. read more

We had sooo much fun! Amazing customer service. We actually booked this boat the same day we called to reserve it. The employees were so helpful and answered all our questions. They even told us over the phone to bring a jacket since it was a bit colder that day. Very kind and thoughtful. My favorite part was going under the Coronado bridge. Bucket list! Great staff and fun, fun, fun! We had a group of seven novice paddle boarders and the staff took good care of us. They gave us good advice and tips for to make our experience fun. They were very accommodating to our time needs and made it super easy, inexpensive and fun. read more

My dad passed away last month. And his favorite thing to do was sailing. So we decided to spend a family day out on the water sailing. I haven't sailed in a long time... like a decade or so... however, we had a 38 foot Catalina growing up and I had my own racing sabot. So to say I'm an inexperienced would be incorrect. I've sailed out of San Diego all over (to Catalina, etc). I've probably spent more time on the water than your average person, we even lived on our boat for a year. With that being said... coming in and out of that channel to the dock is awful. Coming back 100% of the time you'll be sailing directly in to the wind. It's a pretty narrow channel which makes coming back to the dock absolutely awful. This place might be great to rent a motor boat from but SKIP the sailboats. I would never ever rent a sailboat from here again. Its was beautiful out in the bay which is the ONLY reason I'm giving this 2 stars... the views and experience deserve 5 stars. But coming back we had to call them to help us to the dock, we spent over 20 mins not even moving. They said they would charge us for 1 hour and rang us up for 2. Apparently they charge a fee of $40 to help get you back to the dock. Which they should be clear "happens ALL the time" here when you pick up the boat... So it was already an emotional day for me trying to do something that honored my dad and spend some time on the water, and I left feeling not so great about the whole experience. read more

We went on a sunset sail from Del Coronado. $50 pp. limited to 6 people. Captain Corey was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We tipped $20. We were allowed to bring wine, crackers and cheese. I brought a lap blanket just in case it got cold. It was a great time!! read more

We spent three days here with four families, renting paddleboards, paddle boats, a Tom Kat, 8-person powerboat and waverunners. Fernando and his crew provided excellent customer service, as well as focused on safety. They were very clear about designating what areas to go out to vs. what areas to steer clear of, and what speeds. Their staff at the docs were professional, pleasant and also great with the kids & adults. They explained everything very well and made sure everyone was fitted correctly for life vests. The only concern was that when we were on the 22' Hurricane powerboat in the middle of the ocean, we saw that the fuel gauge was past empty (and we had only been out for about an hour) and started coming back. We called the rental place, and they said both the fuel gauge and speedometer were broken! Hopefully, they can remember to let people know about this before they go out or better yet, repair these very crucial gauges. Otherwise, we had a great time and would definitely come back again, thank you! read more

Oh darn forgot to get the young guy who helped, but they are such a group of laid back cool kids working on the job. It's nice. He went over the rules very cordially and we got to take out the 20 footer brand new speed boat, very nice. 1 hour Is just not long enough so next time we'll be getting all day or at least 4 hours for sure. We rented jet skis, kayaks, and going back for bikes! We've had the time of our lives, made great memories, and have laughed a lot! This is part of the Action Sports Rental team and I haven't experienced the other sites, but can I attest to how awesome this one is! Below is a list of some of the things I remember. Pros: 1. The company only has you book for 1 hour and then you are prorated for each additional hour, so if you decide that you hate it after 1 hour...no need to worry, just return the boat. Lots of other companies said you needed to make a 3 hour reservation, so these guys were the most flexible. 2. The views you get from the city and the bridge are beautiful! It was awesome being able to take the boat out as far was we did 3. They give you lots of detailed instructions on how to navigate the boat before you go out. It felt VERY safe...initially I was somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of information they gave us, but if you ignore half of it and just keep in mind it is like driving a car and where the big landmarks are...you will be fine! Cons: 1. Parking at Loew's is EXPENSIVE -- $25/day. But when you book with this company, your parking is validated and you end up not spending $25...I think it was $11 for the whole day. Overall, it was a great experience. We brought our own food and drinks, it was like having a picnic with your friends in the middle of the bay and getting to go wherever you wanted to get views of San Diego. Also, I usually get VERY sea sick...but for some reason I didn't on the little boat we rented. I would definitely come by again to do this, it was a lot of fun! read more

DO NOT RENT A SAILBOAT unless you're a professional skipper or you want to pay an extra $60 to be rescued. Like another yelp reviewer mentioned earlier, it is almost impossible to get back. The channel is narrow, you're going against the wind and the current is strong. They need to be more transparent about the challenge, instead of just giving you hints or they should provide their customers with more instructions on how to get back. read more

Came here with a couple of friends after our school quarter has ended. We were all unexperienced with boats, however Brian explained everything very thoroughly and made it quite easy. We rented a boat for 150/hr and came out to 37.50 pp. Highly recommend as it was a very enjoyable experience! read more

I reserved a boat two weeks ahead of time. I arrived 15mins before my rental time as recommended. I was informed that the boat had broken down the previous day . They were dismissive and unprofessional saying that someone had called me to let me know. I never received any phone call or heads up about the boat not being available. I drove down from LA specifically for the boat rental. read more

Borja and Matt Hartung lack customer service skills and general respect for other people. Service was deplorable. Not what you expect from a five star resort. Spoke with the Loews resort management regarding an issue we had with both Borja and Matt. Resort stated the rentals are a 3rd party vendor and not associated with the resort, however since the resort is a shining example of what good customer service SHOULD be, they accommodated us. Resort staff stated this is not the first complaint they have heard regarding these two individuals. Before we even mentioned names they knew and guessed exactly who we were talking about. Surprised the company hasn't replaced these "managers" yet. Wouldn't recommend this vendor to anybody. I will say that the female staff and the man who gets the boats ready for you down at the dock are VERY nice, polite, respectful, and accommodating. Management should take some notes from them. read more
