We thought we were booking a Tour - it was a paddle under the bridge and back to the park (Tideland Park) which is right at the bridge! SUP Coronado should advertise the SUP as a lesson, not a Tour. I was expecting to paddle around the Bay and learn some fun facts about San Diego - or the history behind the Stand up Paddle boards. The two girls that did the lesson were very nice but the "Tour" had no structure and felt very awkward. The took us in a pointless circle around some of the sail boats that are tied up at the bridge, then under the bridge where there is some sand along the shore.. we got off the boards to stretch. After stretching we got back onto the boards and paddle back to the park. It was pointless! This was our first time doing SUP, they did have great instructions on how to SUP which is why I think they should advertise it as a lesson. I would not recommend this "tour" to anyone... $60 per person ($120, there were two of us) to paddle under the bridge and back was stupid. I would have rather rented boards and paddled around the bay on our own. read more

Outside of surfing I have always took lessons when engaging in a new sport. I always believe in shortcutting the learning process plus you can avoid bad habits. Researching the web brought me to SUP Coronado. Set up the lesson appointment via email. I met with Vicki at Tidelands Park on Coronado. She has a number of boards to meet the situation and person. Today was learning how to use the SUP and the bay is the perfect place to learn. Glassy conditions met us and after learning how to stand we were off for a paddle to Glorietta Bay and back. I'm glad I hired SUP Coronado for this lesson. I had a Isle SUP board to use at 11 ft and probably around 30 or 31 inches wide. Nice stable platform helped with the initial learning process. Vicki is a great instructor because she is knowledgeable for one and patient instructor for another. She gives you just enough instruction to keep you operating correctly but not overbearing. That is a hard balancing act but she was great for me. So tomorrow we try the surf. Look forward to another day read more

Took a trip down to San Diego with some buddies and wanted to paddle board in front of the city skyline, so we found SUP Coronado and gave it a shot! All I had to do was call when I was about 20 minutes away and Vicky was there to deliver the boards to us! $25 for as long as we wanted! Such a great deal, and we had a BLAST!! The ride itself was just challenging enough for a good workout, but it was relaxing at the same time! When I go back, we will definitely be using SUP Coronado for rentals again :) read more

Spending an hour and a half on the bay in Coronado reminds me of how lucky I am to live here in San Diego. Vicky was a lot of fun to talk to and the rates are very fair. Booked a 10 am Saturday rental reservation with Vicky, who texted me where to meet. I will preface this by saying that my husband and I have gone paddling several times, so we didn't need a lesson; we did take 2 beginners with us on this paddle though. +For 2 hours, I find $30 to be a pretty decent rate! We had plenty of time to teach our friends, paddle a good distance to even go get some pics with Hotel Del Coronado in the background, and hang in the water to relax a few times before going back in. +Vicky was super nice by phone and in response to my texts. +We met by the skate park and the sand area, which made parking pretty easy. +The location also made walking the boards very simple. (We've used Bike & Kayak before and we had to carry our boards through the dining/shopping area to the water... a much longer distance). +Vicky had available the waterproof bag for my key and iphone, so I was able to take some pictures. (I usually have my own, but we forgot it... and typically we've been charged for that by other companies). +Vicky gave suggestions on the route to take, how to get less wind, and offered information on why going the opposite way wasn't ideal. Very appreciated! Bottom Line - Would totally use SUP Coronado again... and in fact, we plan to go Pacific side next time! read more

My first paddleboard lesson was an amazing experience due to instructor Wade's natural teaching style; as a retired educator, I could see that he instinctively analyzed you for the right amount of instruction to provide. After he gives a few minutes of basics, it was less is more to help you not overthink, allow you to feel how to stay balanced atop and, then to feel the proper rhythm of paddling. We loved our SUP sesh with Vicki! A few friends and I had some hours off during a work trip and managed to squeeze in a SUP lesson/tour in the bay, and it was definitely a highlight of our trip. We met up with Vicki in the parking lot and she showed us the boards and gear and then we headed to the beach to get on the water - she was great with helping us get our bearings, and then we headed out into the bay. We chatted and paddled for over 2 hours before we even realized it. It was great getting to know each other and Vicki knew a lot about San Diego/Coronado and pointed out a bunch of cool things along the shore. It wasn't too hard to get the hang of, but challenging enough to be a good workout and keep us engaged! Gliding along the water was peaceful and we got lucky and had a beautiful day. Sure you could probably rent boards on your own but having Vicki there to show us what to do and chat while we paddled was awesome. I'd definitely do it again! Maybe try some waves next time :) read more

I just tried Paddle Board Yoga yesterday in Coronado Bay and it was amazing! We had the best time ever learning to Paddle Board and learning Yoga Poses on the board. I booked two paddle boards literally within five minutes and we were in the water shortly after. All because we ran into a couple who had just finished paddle boarding and asked them where they rented their boards. Super easy experience. We had a great time paddle boarding under the Coronado bridge. Vicky was very helpful and friendly. It's not often that you find someone so easy going and willing to help especially when we didn't not have a prior reservation. She just made it happen for us without hesitating. read more

After witnessing the SUP craze over the past few years while surfing I decided to give it a try on one of my days off. It turned out to be perfect; spending the morning out of the heat wave in the ocean, paddling, trying to catch waves, and wiping out. Crystal was an amazing instructor. So much fun and Crystal was awesome! My husband and I did the bay tour with Crystal this past Saturday (13 June 2015), and we really enjoyed our morning on the paddle boards. Crystal is very patient and comfortable to be with. She even took the time to show us some stretches and yoga moves for the muscles most engaged in paddle boarding. Vicki is an amazing instructor! She was kind and patient and it felt like my friend and I were paddling with a long-time friend. She is super chill, but also very knowledgeable and would give subtle hints as we paddled. I would HIGHLY recommend taking a lesson from her. I called them to set up a SUP experience for 4 of us, in celebration of my Fiancee's Birthday in September. Though seemingly very casual, they were very good with their communication and follow up. Being new to this, we weren't exactly sure what to expect, so they helped advise as to the best recommended time and location. After a brief assessment and instruction, they set up the perfect boards for each of us--based on size and experience, and we were off. We opted for an evening paddle, for calmer water, heading under the bridge, around the golf course, to the old Rowing Club in Glorietta bay and back again. It was a beautiful evening, and we arrived back just prior to the sun setting--a perfect outing. The scheduling was easy, the equipment was perfectly appropriate, and the service, excellent!
