Our last visit to Dickey's was disappointing. Our favorite staff members, Michelle and Cassie, were not there. The reasons for disappointment is the size of the portions we received, and the fact that onion straws were no longer available as a side dish. I asked for mayonnaise and was given one from Chic Fil A?!? Our table was sticky and the floor needed sweeping. Not our best experience, sorry to say. read more

Came in on a whim, empty house. Shocking though, I got the 3 meat plate and a big yellow cup, an undercut on prices to other bbq places yet way more appetizing! Meats were flavorful and moist, the sides were incredible (plus free ice cream with every meal). Sorry to everyone that wasn't there when we went, because you're missing out. read more

I had been having a BBQ craving for some time and finally talked my husband into trying the new Dickey's in Middletown. We both went for the two meat platter. I chose the brisket (good but a little dry) and the pork (juicy and delicious!) and potato salad (the mustardy type) and slaw (nice and sweet) as my sides. I pretty much loved it all - the brisket was a little dry but was just fine dipped in BBQ sauce. He had the ribs and brisket and baked beans and mac and cheese. He liked the brisket but complained there wasn't much meat on the ribs and said the sides were just okay. Overall, we both enjoyed our meals and will be back sometime as we are in the Middletown area almost every weekend, and it definitely solves the BBQ cravings at an affordable price. read more

I think the food is OK but it's a lie where they say the staff is required to wear masks... Of course, that has been lifted now, but back during the height of the pandemic, the owner and some of the workers were making our food without wearing a mask when it was absolutely required! Just saying'. Owner asks me to contact him to resolve this issue. There is nothing to resolve, just do what the state government tells you to do. When you were told to wear a mask at all times during the pandemic in the restaurant, preparing food or other activities, you were not. I saw several staff members and the owner with no mask at the height of the pandemic. read more

The pulled pork was great but the turkey was a bit underwhelming. Maybe because it looked more like lunch meat turkey (very thin slices) but was still good. Mac n cheese is trash though but the green beans are good. It's close to my job so it's good for a quick lunch. Its no half a star to use to rate so I'll be generous and just give em 4 read more

Just had Dickey's for the first time, the food was a 7.5 out of 10 in my opinion. The pulled pork could have had a little bit more seasoning but the sauce made up for it. The fries was good and the mac & cheese was good as well, it could have been a little bit more warmer. The chocolate chip cookie was okay, service was also okay, the place was kinda of quiet and dull but overall I enjoyed my experience. read more

I was hesitant to stop in and try a BBQ joint ever since I spent some time in Kansas City and have been spoiled by a variety of good BBQ. I didn't know what to expect from BBQ in Middletown Delaware. To my surprise it had the look & feel of a cliche' BBQ joint with rustic woods and industrial man-furnishings complete with the obligatory chalkboard menu and prison tray plates. But this is what one expects in a BBQ joint so I wasn't in any way turned off. It's the meat and the sauce that matters. I chose the 2 meat meal with sides. I asked for my brisket with a bit of burnt ends as I like it that way and the meat-man behind the knife accommodated. My second was the pulled pork. Following with jalapeño baked beans and mac&cheese. Sauces were served on the side. Ok so for franchise BBQ it wasn't bad. The pork wasn't too fatty and wasn't dry it was I good portion. The burnt end brisket was a little dry but that's because I asked for the ends. It had a great taste and worked well once the sauce hit it. Mac was Mac, it was not my moms Mac but no complaints. Jalapeño beans stood up to their name however I am not a "jalapeño hot", I would have preferred more of a sweet hot. I added the sweet and hot bbq sauce in it and THAT made it! The only complaint would be the brick I mean bread. Nothing special about it and was very dry. I would offer a sweet butter or maybe swap out for buttered cornbread. I didn't see there was an option there. Washing it all down with some sweet tea and I had myself some Delaware franchise BBQ. I'll give it a 4 out of 5. It wasn't spectacular but wasn't disappointing. read more

First time here & we weren't disappointed. If you like Mission BBQ, it's the same kind of vibe. We went in to check it out, and we ended up getting takeout platters. $11.99 for a choice of meat and two sides. The food was great! The dinner rolls were surprisingly BUTTERY. Tasted like a pillsbury dinner croissant. The best part is: A free ice cream cone (vanilla soft serve) with every meal bought! Brian was ecstatic, and stole mine. Kids eat free on Sundays with the purchase of adult meals. Definitely check it out! A nice addition to Middletown area. Very casual inside. read more

Living in Texas the last five years I wasn't expecting much by way of brisket here .. but I was very impressed. Gotta go fatty brisket, as always, and this was great. The chicken Nuggets were actually the best I've ever had and the pulled pork was better than the brisket. The mashed potatoes were also five star. The workers, Kevin and Jason were both very polite and friendly and all of their recommendations were spot on excellent. The dining room was clean as well as the bathrooms. Walked in and not one worker had a mask on...NOT ONE .. and they all scrambled to put them on (slyly) when my boyfriend said "wow no one is wearing a mask"...One worker was eating with his gloves on .. Should have walked out then. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with waffle fries (both served cold) and ribs with bbq beans and mac and cheese. Ribs were broken up, very fatty and served warm. BBQ beans has zero flavor to them. Mac and cheese was very watery. Thought about ordering dessert but customer service was very poor. Did not ask any questions except what sauce we wanted... will not be going back read more

A barbeque place that serves cold meat is pretty disappointing. Brisket and ribs, slightly warm. The brisket and pulled pork on my western sandwich, luke warm at best. The mac & cheese was bad, the jalapeno beans where actually really good as well as the potato salad. There are a lot better options in Middletown. read more

The food was very tasty, but the jalapeño beans could have been served warmer. I had ribs and jalapeño cheddar sausage, fried okra, and the beans. My friend had the turkey sandwich. Went here on a Friday night, the movement of the line was a bit slow, they seemed like they were a bit understaffed. The food was tasty for bbq. I have had better and I have had worse. Place was on the small side guess they do more takeout. The one thing that stood out was the self serve ice cream. I was able to make a root beer float in my big yellow cup before I left. read more

Ordered food and it came quickly. When I ordered it there was a button to request utensils which I did since I was out at a cigar lounge. When I received the order and opened everything up there were no utensils, it's kind of hard to eat bbq and sides with no utensils. I contacted the driver that told me to contact the restaurant. When I contacted the restaurant I was told that I never did order the utensils and there was not a way to remedy the situation. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that I was speaking to the manager. I am thoroughly unsatisfied with this order and the treatment I received from the employee at the restaurant. I too work in a service industry and the way I was talked to would not be tolerated at my job, I don't know how it is tolerated there. read more

The owner also clearly shows her disdain when you pick up a promotional offer order, and is not at all friendly or pleasant when doing so. Really wishing there was another location in the area closer than Newark because the food is good, just not the service experience. read more
