I came here because I was on a business trip. Elkton, MD is such a lovely place, very clean! I don't have a Craker Barrel near me since I am a Californian. I have always wanted to come to one of these restaurants and was not disappointed. The location is rather large. There is a lot of seating inside. We came during a weekday and there was actually about half the restaurant occupied and more people coming in. This told me the food was good here. When you walk in, you have to walkthrough their little store and get seated. The place also looked clean and there was plenty of parking outside. Everyone was friendly and I even saw the Manager handle a difficult man who even cursed at him with such class and professionalism. I was caught off guard this happened. Be careful with the little store! They have some many nice little knick knacks that you will get in trouble quick. I found several small gifts to bring back home. The food was good. Country style fried chicken with gravy. This is not food I am used to but it tasted great. It came out hot too! The server was a sweetheart and very tentative to us. I will have to come back to Elkton in the future and I can assure you, I will be making a dinner stop at Cracker Barrel one of the nights I am here. This must be the best food i ate at Cracker Barrel out of visited so many. Our server was great!!! My only issue is the food took so long to be served. Not only ours, whoever visited while we were over there, it took forever to be served. Do not know what was the issue, never asked, just wanted to do a quick stop. But it was not. I've never been a big fan of Cracker Barrel. Food is generally good food, but kind of boring. Breakfast is very good though. The food here at least what we ordered was inedible. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was like rubber. I noticed when cutting it had a lot of resistance. The first breast was semi edible, but the second was not. The mashed potatoes and corn I got were loaded with salt. My wife got the soup and complained it was loaded with salt. We aren't picky eaters generally and like well seasoned food why I tend to find Cracker Barrel boring, but this was just bad. The waitress was really nice as was all the staff, maybe we just got a bad night? read more

Arrived and was seated by a plesant hostess. The menu seemed odd and I actually asked for a breakfast menu. They only have this single double sided paper today for a menu. Due to my diet I had tried to have something not fried. The waitress went back and asked if I could get the grilled chicken and they had said no. We got ready to go and she came back and told us that the big boss said thet could, by then my wife was already disappointed as were my grandsons. So, be careful that there are only 5 items available for breakfast. We paid $8 for the kids chocolate milk and the coffee that we didn't get to drink. Packed Saturday morning. Used the app to get faster seating, but the new host missed it and seated us after someone who was in line after us. Table clean but wobbly. Had the chicken fried steak, but it had the bitter aftertaste suggesting they need to change the fryer oil. Pancakes were lukewarm warm and couldn't melt butter when applied. Replacement came within 3minutes. Good service. Tasty potato casserole. No tomato juice or V8 on the menu is a loser for a breakfast spot. The hostess noticed and got ys drinks. Got ignored another 20 minutes. I flagged a waitress down and asked do we actually have a waitess?? 15 minutes went by the same hostess ( dynamite m.v.p. ) Took our order. 20 more minutes no salad 10 more get meal and sd same time. My cheese potato casserole burt crunchy. Steak cold. Daughter's trout cold. This was ridiculous. Its like they had 0 communication between them. I'm done with this. We travel 95 and often stop at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. My husband and I stopped at the Elkton, MD location September 2025. This location was a complete fail. Won't be back... ever! Food was good but it took us over an hour to get it. By the time we left, we had spent an hour and a half there. Place was dirty including windows, and girls bathroom was the worst I'd ever seen. This place needs to close and deep clean from top to bottom! Our waiter looked like he hadn't showered in days, his apron was filthy and service was terrible. Should've been our first clue to leave! Obviously management training is lacking. They were busy at one point and short staffed. Manager was out counting rockers instead of helping inside. Someone higher up needs to check this store. Customer service these days is sometimes a challenge but we were well taken care of today. She made us feel welcome and her service was 11out of 10! I came here for about 3 years with my girlfriend before this, and last night revisited with our 5 month old son. Staff was very accommodating with our small stroller and food came quickly and was hot. I love the rocking chairs on the porch and all the memorabilia inside. It makes it feel homey. It wasn't crowded so service was quick. Our waitress, Jackie, was super sweet. She answered our questions and gave us extra biscuits to take home! The meatloaf was tasty with a little sweetness from the tomato sauce on the outside. The mashed potatoes and gravy were really good too. The catfish was delicious! It was blackened and had a lot of flavor. Bathrooms were clean. Lots of parking. I pre-ordered Easter dinner. I arrived. There were no signs indicating what to do, but instructions in my email confirmation told me to look for signs. Very confusing. I pulled into curbside parking and called. They told me to go around back. When I did, they told me my order was incomplete because they ran out of apple pies. They did offer a pumpkin pie in place of it, but I didn't order the pumpkin pie because it's not Thanksgiving! I ended up canceling the order and my family went to Hooters for Easter. The good news is I found the best spot around for a great burger! The bad news is Cracker Barrel was a big disappointment. Yes because of apple pie, an American staple! My problem was more about pre-ordering and then not having what I ordered available. I thought that was just bad business. I would not entertain this establishment again. Stopped by here on the way home from MD because some of our friends hadn't tried Cracker Barrel. This is your typical family friendly restaurant but has a cute little souvenir shop in the front if you forgot to pick up gifts for friends and family on your way home! We got some typical items like the beignets and i think deep fried apples. All I remember was that it was really good and great for sharing. Entrees were American sized... so expect to take some home because we each ordered an entre and could not finish them! Very good and feels like it's home cooked. Zero stars is the only rating I can give this Cracker Barrel, I've been to other Cracker Barrel's before and always had great service. Unfortunately I can't say the same about this one, seems like they are way understaffed and more worried about pick up orders than the people that actually are obligated to tip the servers. They informed me after some of our food was coming out that they didn't have one of the dishes and that's after we waited 30 minutes for a table due to not having anyone to clean the tables because everyone was too busy with online orders. Obviously they can't handle doing both so maybe they should stop doing one or the other or be better staffed. Will never come back read more

So, my ode to Sammi. One of the main reasons I consistently go to Elkton Cracker Barrel: Service. After a 3 hour trek from NY, there is nothing better than a smile on a friendly waitress! Not even 30 seconds after the nice hostess seated us, Sammi came by and asked for drink requests. When I joked with her about my indecisive family, she laughed it off. Kudos for dealing with my corniness and making me laugh even harder. As usual, all the breakfasts were great. Their eggs are decent and the bacon perfect and the biscuits are awesome as ever! My husband was so happy to hear that Uncle Hershel's breakfast was back on the menu. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess seated us and gave us a scaled down single front/back page menu - one page consisting of lunch/dinner starting at 11:00 am and the other page listing a very scaled down breakfast for adults and 2 options for kids plus a large selection of alcoholic beverages. My husband is unable to eat fried food so was looking forward to having either grilled chicken or grilled catfish, neither of which were offered on the scaled down menu. The server asked the manager if we could get this option as a courtesy and was told no. We then asked for the bill for the drinks and I calmly asked to speak with the manager. The manager would not speak with me. This is totally unacceptable. At the cash register the clerk was pleasant and took it upon herself to ask the manager, Chase if he would comp the beverages for the kids - he refused. I paid the bill and left. All this occurred between 9:45 am and 10:15 am. Not a good way to start your day. It will be a very long time before we will return to this location. read more

Decided to treat ourselves to a big breakfast after a weekend of camping. I've only been to a Cracker Barrel once, and it was down in Florida many years ago. Coming for breakfast was a great idea, even though we had a bit of a wait (45 mins). I opted for the amazing sourdough french toast, which came with two sides - two eggs and a couple of nicely crispy bacon. And of course, I had to order an extra side of the world-famous hashbrown casserole. I loved the tiny little bottle of warmed maple syrup that came with the french toast. For food and atmosphere ... it's a Cracker Barrel. Same relaxed, faux-antiquey decor with wooden tables and that fun triangle peg game. Same country food, same breakfast as every other Cracker Barrel. It's delicious. The kitchen is SLOW AS HECK! Every time my little family comes here for lunch we wait forever for our food. My 1 hr plus wait for food today prompted me to leave a review. There's tons of wait staff walking around so I can only assume the kitchen can't keep up? The service here was terrible. We waited twenty minutes to get seated and over an hour for service to even come take our order; at that point even the pegging game was boring. The food was exactly as expected from Cracker barrel: greasy and slightly bland. Ordered friend chicken, chicken tenders, pancakes and stew, but the biscuits were probably the best part of the meal. As hokey as it might be, I love me some Cracker Barrel. I like the fact that you're almost always seated and eating within 10-20 minutes. I love the cornbread -and biscuits - slathered with butter. My standard meal is grilled rainbow trout, hash brown casserole, greens. The fact that almost every CB location prepares this meal with consistency is a win for me. Prices are great, too. read more

Normally I love it here but tonight I was really disappointed, I ordered on line and the pick up time was 7:49 PM and my spouse was there by 7:53 ... he was stuck waiting until 8:36 !!! He walked in to see what was taking so long and they were not crazy busy for a Friday ... he was acknowledged one and nothing else from there ... I got the meatloaf dinner , gravy was missing on the mashed potatoes that were flavorless with a few huge chunks and green beans. . The meatloaf was dry and he got the steak and shrimp . It had good flavor and done correct but lots of gristle. We got the deal w the refrigeration meal as an extra , it looked ok and was for my daughter so waiting on the verdict on that meal . The portions for sides seemed smaller than usual and for the money and wait and tip I feel really let down considering I had the meatloaf a week ago and it was great hence the reason we were back so soon . But the WAIT ?! No competition or even a glass of water while he waited was offered . Glad we did not buy movie tickets or need to pick up my daughter from work at a specific time etc ...!? Another big thing is calling ME a liar, as they first told me it wasn't breast but then said they WERE!?
