Lunch / Dinner limited menu

Arrived and was seated by a plesant hostess. The menu seemed odd and I actually asked for a breakfast menu. They only have this single double sided paper today for a menu. Due to my diet I had tried to have something not fried. The waitress went back and asked if I could get the grilled chicken and they had said no. We got ready to go and she came back and told us that the big boss said thet could, by then my wife was already disappointed as were my grandsons. So, be careful that there are only 5 items available for breakfast. We paid $8 for the kids chocolate milk and the coffee that we didn't get to drink. The waitress tried but the management was the stumbling point.

Traveling from New York to Washington DC and needed some breakfast after getting out of New York. Was greeted as soon as we entered. Sat down and placed ordered. Food came out fresh. Only downside was bacon was severely overcooked. Other than that the experience was a usual Cracker Barrel experience. Place was clean and maintained. Of course the shop was full of things that make you think twice about purchasing.

Well I said geez how bad coukd it be. My daughter wanted to eat dinner at Cracker Barrel. My wife said don't. She bailed. She was wise. Got seated quickly. Got ignored for 25 minutes. The hostess noticed and got ys drinks. Got ignored another 20 minutes. I flagged a waitress down and asked do we actually have a waitess?? 15 minutes went by the same hostess ( dynamite m.v.p. ) Took our order. 20 more minutes no salad 10 more get meal and sd same time. My cheese potato casserole burt crunchy. Steak cold. Daughter's trout cold. This was ridiculous. Its like they had 0 communication between them. I'm done with this. Moral to the story should have listened to my wife...... The hostess was the only bright spot in this $60.00 fiasco.

Food was great. Waitress was attentive and brought iced tea refills unasked. The noise is deafening! Biohazard level loud.

I've gone to the bar on multiple occasions to get just cornbread and an entree to go as well as when I have had reservations to dine in, I've seen people come in, just go to the bar and order take out. I'm really disappointed at this experience and it seems like every time I go to South, It's a different experience and a different enforcement of rules.

My husband, originally from Philadelphia, had heard great things about South and wanted to check it out. Our visit was a bit last-minute and we didn't have a reservation, but the front-of-house staff was incredibly accommodating, and we were seated without much of a wait. The place is cute - not super fancy but also not too casual. For my entrée, I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Crispy Duck Breast with peach demi-glace, haricot verts, and brown sugar mashed sweet potatoes. The duck breast was excellent--perfectly cooked medium with great flavor. The mashed sweet potatoes were good, though not quite as sweet or flavorful as I expected, so I didn't eat much of them. My husband ordered the Low Country Catfish & Gulf Shrimp with cornmeal-fried catfish, sautéed shrimp, broccolini, collard pesto rice, and tomato-okra sauce. He absolutely raved about every bite and thoroughly enjoyed the dish. However, the true stars of the meal were the sides. The Freshly Baked Skillet Cornbread with Steen's cane syrup and honey butter and the Classic Mac & Cheese made with a blend of four cheeses and sweet cream custard were phenomenal. Both came out piping hot and incredibly flavorful--so good that just thinking about them makes me want to go back for more. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and would definitely recommend South. Pro tip: They also offer live music with dinner service in a separate room. Don't make our mistake--be sure to make a reservation if you want to enjoy that part of the experience! "Because dining is more than food - it's flavor, style and elegance that should be savored one bite at a time." - AMC

Do not park in the lot next to the building because it is for the US Postal Service and your vehicle will be towed. There is a parking garage around the corner on the corner of Walnut and Chestnut Streets. The cost is 25 cents for every 15 minutes. We ordered an Old-Fashioned with Woodford and a Blueberry Shaker. The Blueberry Shaker was only 3 dollars more than the regular drink and it yielded a total of 4 drinks for my partner. The drinks were good. For our meals we had the Steak and Shrimp Bourbon, Bourbon Street Burger, and a side Caesar Salad. Everything tasted very good. The decor is New Orleans Style although not completely authentic. There is a beer garden for those who want a less formal atmosphere. The hostess was incredibly good at her job. She was very friendly and engaging. We really enjoyed her service. The first impression of the restaurant that she gave was excellent.

First, my girlfriend and I arrived to the restaurant. We requested a specific table, and the host was gracious enough to do so. We then waited 8 minutes before our table was even touched, and it was just our (server? No intro, nothing) ASKING us if we'd like water. We say yes, and then waited an additional 5 minutes just to receive water in PLASTIC cups. Again, this person never told us his name, and we weren't even sure if he was taking our order or not. He appeared to be about 18, and was most certainly high Then, we requested glasses, and since it had been 15+ minutes since we sat down, said we were ready to order when we got the glasses. The guy took our order. We both got cocktails, which also took about 10 minutes. Finally, our appetizer came. We weren't even halfway through before the entrees came, we probably had about 10 minutes to finish it. This all could have been negated if our order was taken correctly, and things could have been staggered correctly. The "two bite" check occurred within 30 seconds of our food being dropped, and by then I hadn't even touched my food. It was way too early and felt like he was just trying to get it out of the way. At that point both my girlfriend and I were just ready to eat and we said everything was fine. I had to ask the guy for a bag on the way out, rather than him giving me one after our food was put into 3 boxes. I want to be empathetic of whatever was going on at The Social that Sunday. Yet, if you are going to make your steak $42, the service needs to justify that price. I will not be going back to The Social, and encourage their management to speak to their server who flubbed the ENTIRETY of my experience there. Myself and my girlfriend both work in the service / restaurant industry, and we know what good service is. We also understand that there are bad days. This was just abysmal. 4/10.

It took almost an hour for them to make my food (and I'm assuming other orders as my Dasher made 2 other stops and provided updates on the wait time). By the time I received my food it was in a grocery bag that was soaked inside due to condensation. I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich and the cheesesteak eggrolls. The eggrolls came in a proper takeout container and tasted OK, though I should've removed the bed of lettuce before saving them for later. After sitting for a while, the eggrolls absorbed the flavors of the lettuce and became bitter. It was not pleasant. The chicken sandwich came wrapped similar to what's expected from Burger King and was messy to eat, but it was better than I thought it would be. The hot honey didn't provide any heat, but the chicken was so crunchy around the edges. Last, the fries weren't great as they were placed in a paper envelope (also similar to what Burger King provides in a to-go bag) that was completely soaked. They were soft, but cooled for too long to hold any flavor. As mentioned it was an OK meal, but I wouldn't recommend it. Dining in the restaurant would likely provide a better experience.
