One of Our All-Time Favorites!…read more Boulevard is one of my husband and my all-time favorite restaurants, and they consistently deliver every time we visit. We frequent both the Elmwood and Metairie locations, but the Elmwood location is our go-to since it's closest to home. On this visit, I started with the Boulevard Oysters--crispy fried oysters served over creamy spinach with an aioli sauce. They were delicious! I also had the chicken tortilla soup, and I absolutely freaking LOVE this soup! It's one of my favorites on the menu. For my entrée, I had the blackened fish with coleslaw, and of course, I had my usual lemon drop martini. That lemon drop is the BOMB! I order it every time, and it never disappoints. What I love most about Boulevard is the consistency. The food comes out quickly, the cocktails are always good, and the staff is always attentive--even when sitting at the bar, which is one of my favorite places to sit here. The restaurant is always clean, the bathrooms are clean, and you're greeted when you walk through the door. We've been here many times, and Boulevard hardly ever disappoints. Five stars, without a doubt! There's something for everyone on the menu, and honestly, you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. Boulevard will continue to be one of our go-to restaurants!

Decided to have lunch here , figured enough time had passes since my last not so great experience…read morehere. Also, since the Boulevard in Covington was SO GREAT, that this one should be on par with that one. I was wrong. We ordered 2 club sandwiches, one no cheese and one no tomatoes. They were wrong. The fries were cold, and the service was slow. Bu the time replacement fries arrived, we were done eating. Btw, They were not crowded. Once the sandwiches were corrected, we still regretted the orders. They were not good. No idea how 2 locations of the same restaurant can be so different. This location to my understanding has been around much longer than the Covington location, so you'd think they would have it together. But, they do not. We were offered a desert for our inconvenience, and we chose a slice of cheesecake. When it was packaged and presented, it looked as if it had been beat up. No idea why this would be given to a customer in this condition. Not a good look at all. This location is a no go for us from now on. We've tried it 2 or 3 times, and it is never on a good level food wise. Not sure if they have gotten complacent or just don't really care about the taste of the food they serve, but whatever it is needs to be corrected. It's honestly not worth the drive. It was yet again disappointing.

I got the fried shrimp and oyster basket. I kid you not - the juiciest most flavorful fried shrimp I have ever had! My pictures don't do it justice!! Great variety of local beers, other cool items on the menu. Ambiance was cool, you could tell it had been here while. If you're in the area be sure to drop in. I toured in for the pic and they said it was too long: While it looks plain, they are the best fried shrimp I have ever had. Juicy, seasoned just right, and both the shrimp and oyster came out hot!!! While I don't get a lot of quality oysters in central Kentucky, I can't be considered an expert.... They were spot on also!! Check it out and enjoy!!!

The Rivershack Tavern is well-named! It is located on River Road in a historic building that has a…read moregreat deal of character. This building might be considered by some a shack, and it certainly is a bar. However, it also serves up some amazing food. It's historic inside as well as outside, having classic signs, posters, and other New Orleans memorabilia displayed on virtually every surface, including the ceilings. Also noteworthy are their barstools, which have amusing legs attached. The interior is rather dark, even in the middle of the day, but don't let this deter you. Your eyes will quickly adjust. This might be an advantage if your visit is to engage in day-drinking! However, if your visit is to eat, first look for the board displaying the Daily Special. These are a great choice and may include things not normally on the menu. Variety is the spice of life and all... However, the menu is adequate for most any purpose. There are a great variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, plates, and appetizers! I like that the sandwiches can be customized with sides. One can swap out regular fries for sweet potato fries, or there are really great and crispy tater tots! One can even opt for a bowl of gumbo or soup! Some of these changes involve a slight up-charge, but are worth it. Speaking of the soups and gumbos, these are really great choices. I happened to be there when French Onion Soup was part of the daily special, and it was amazing! Had a great big toasty chuck of bread with cheese on top, and the soup was rich and delicious. Their gumbo is a substantial choice, with great and deep flavors. I also recommend their BLT, which pairs well with a bowl of soup. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful and the prices are fair. This place is an experience that one should have while in the area. It's definitely a place you'll want to return to!

Price was fair and looked really good but by the time you had the po-boy dressed and had a drink it was almost as expensive as anywhere else. It's a little different and that's the appeal. Service was good but not great. When you have a customer in front of you about to pay you don't let another employee interrupt you and distract you. Food came out fast and the young man who brought it was courteous and kind, though a little scary and intimidating. I could hear some cussing. Ambiance was perfect for what it was. If you're in Harahan and want a fairly priced poboy you need to stop in. All in all it was enjoyable and becoming more and more a landmark. They just take cash which is a little wild.

I know tips matter and I rarely and by rarely, I mean I can count the number of times I have NOT tipped on one hand. I nearly did not tip. I tipped exactly $0.71 to even my bill out. The food was meh. The bar was dirty. My friend waited SO long for her burger that she almost couldn't stay to eat it. I had two sides of beans and a side of rice with stale chips and salsa because they had no fajitas. But my GOD was the bartender/server THE worst. She came and asked me WHY I hadn't paid yet and I said OH because I ordered a drink 17 minutes ago and you haven't given it to me. Ugh. What a waste of MONEY and time. Complete BS. I don't ever go to Chili's because we don't have them locally I Oregon. We like LOCAL. But hot dang if this wasn't the worst dining experience I've had in a decade.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable--not only about the menu, but also about the history of Louisiana. It was such a delight! I ordered the full Irish plate, and the food was freshly made, came out quickly, and was prepared just the way I asked. The pricing was very reasonable, too (no French Quarter prices, but close to the French Quarters). The staff was always attentive, and I loved seeing how they worked together and helped each other, whether it was with the tables or the daily chores. That really stood out to me. Whenever I'm in the area, I will definitely return. It is a bit cooler than expected, so bring a jacket! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, if not more!

It is a large space with a long bar as you walk in. When I went, the host/tess was located all the way inside the restaurant, so you walk the length of the restaurant to be greeted and seated by the host. I made my way down to her and she seated me right away. I asked for a water and an Irish coffee. She was not sure they had the glassware for an Irish coffee, but she checked with the bartender. And he was able to conjure up something as I was the first person to ask for one. I was a little surprised by that since they offer Irish breakfasts, but either way, I was very appreciative of his going above and beyond for me to make it work. He even asked which whiskey I wanted and had to search for some brown sugar for me. Very accommodating. The Irish breakfast came out and it was so good. The chef came out to speak with me too, I let him know I loved everything but the beans. He mentioned he was trying it out, as it is authentic, but knows it could be tweaked. I did love the marmalade, homemade marmalade on the dish, so good! I enjoyed the sausage - bangers and pudding - as well. So authentic and good! I felt like I was back in Ireland. Just needed some sheep to bahhh by. I do wish the hostess/waitress would have checked in on me more, my water was never refilled and I needed napkins as I had sticky fingers from that amazing marmalade jam. I plan to come back and bring some friends or out of friends, as I miss my Peppermill and this restaurant, I find, is a pretty good replacement - with Irish coffees and all. And proceeds go towards charity. How great is that! I hope they made the Irish coffee a permanent option on the menu before I come back!
