Creamed spinach to go

New Dickey's finally opened in Destrehan,LA after Hurricane Ida. Food is quite good (rbs, pulled pork, brisket). I guess because it is new, service was abysmal. Got yelled at for standing in wrong spot to order. Asked for the daily special, cashier not happy. Special says it comes with two sides and drink. Had to pay extra for drink and didn't get second side. See photo for how first side bagged. Food is very good. Let's hope that services catch up.

We were watching a cookie show and we started craving bbq. We didnt want to make a long drive so we ordered from this place. I wasnt expecting much so I was kind of surprised it wasnt a bad decision and for what it is,it was good. We chose the 2 meats and 3 sides combo. They actually didn't know how much meat and size of the sides when they were serving it but they fixed it after I told them, the overall service was confusing but they were really nice. . The brisket was kind of dry but not horrible, had a good flavor, good portion. . The turkey breast was juicy and tender,I was really surprised. The dinner rolls are really good, loved them. We ordered beans (the sweet hint on point),coleslaw (good good) and the potato salad (also good). It was plenty of food for two...left some for dinner. Soooo as you know it isnt an extraordinary bbq experience but...to satisfy a craving for a bit,its a good to go. . (And free ice cream)!

The workers here are all tremendously friendly. When you enter the establishment you are going to be greeted by someone working and when you go to order they are very willing to work with you on questions, recommendations and modifications to the order. They have a military discount. Don't forget the free ice cream on the way out! I highly recommend anyone wanting a quick, delicious lunch to order here at Dickey's!

Small sides

Feb 8th at 7pm Placed a to go order for a family meal which was $60.87. Photo is of what food I did get which was 2 lbs of meat, 6 rolls, and should have been 3 medium sides. As you can see the sides are small not even enough for 1 person. The rolls were uneditable because they were rock hard. At 7pm there was no turkey as requested, so I had to settle for sausage. I was beyond disappointed in this order.

BBQ Done Like a Contest Here's a place that dose BBQ in competition style, done to perfection. I'm reviewing the brisket, ribs, creamed spinach and coleslaw. First of all, the ribs a cooked right; meat tender but not falling off the bone. This is the correct way in any professional rib cooking contest, as if the meat falls off the bone, it's technically overcooked, and disqualified. Brisket was moist and tender and both meats exhibited a good smoked flavor. Both the side orders were good as well. I particularly liked the spicy BBQ sauce, though they have two other choices as well. There's also free soft-serve ice cream at the condiment bar. I'll be visiting again to try some of the other meats and side orders.

The food is decent, but the staff seemed like they were not happy to be there. The men's bathroom was locked with no one inside.

This building might be considered by some a shack, and it certainly is a bar. However, it also serves up some amazing food. It's historic inside as well as outside, having classic signs, posters, and other New Orleans memorabilia displayed on virtually every surface, including the ceilings. Also noteworthy are their barstools, which have amusing legs attached. The interior is rather dark, even in the middle of the day, but don't let this deter you. Your eyes will quickly adjust. This might be an advantage if your visit is to engage in day-drinking! However, if your visit is to eat, first look for the board displaying the Daily Special. These are a great choice and may include things not normally on the menu. Variety is the spice of life and all... However, the menu is adequate for most any purpose. There are a great variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, plates, and appetizers! I like that the sandwiches can be customized with sides. One can swap out regular fries for sweet potato fries, or there are really great and crispy tater tots! One can even opt for a bowl of gumbo or soup! Some of these changes involve a slight up-charge, but are worth it. Speaking of the soups and gumbos, these are really great choices. I happened to be there when French Onion Soup was part of the daily special, and it was amazing! Had a great big toasty chuck of bread with cheese on top, and the soup was rich and delicious. Their gumbo is a substantial choice, with great and deep flavors. I also recommend their BLT, which pairs well with a bowl of soup. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful and the prices are fair. This place is an experience that one should have while in the area. It's definitely a place you'll want to return to!

There's a decent sized parking lot here and the interior and outside grounds are very well kept. We chose to sit outside, plenty of seating with shade for most. Starting off with shrimp toast and heirloom tomatoes was a good start to our lunch experience. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife got the fresh pasta. We were blown away by both dishes. Juicy chicken with peppers on ciabatta bread and fries to write home about. The pasta was in pesto that seemed freshly made and the grilled chicken thighs we added was fantastic. Thoroughly impressed with the food here but only second to our waiter as far as the total experience. It was a bearded young gentleman, I didn't catch his name but he took care of us and was very attentive. Completely impressed with this establishment and I'd recommend any and all to check this place out.

She was very attentive, without being overly annoying(if that makes sense). Now let's get into the food. Hamburger was well seasoned as well as the fries. I ordered the who dat burger. Which is a dressed burger with onion ring, bacon and bbq added. To say I had a lot going on, on that burger my bun wasn't soggy at all. That bun held up perfectly. The patty was real beef meat. Not burnt, not tough, just a juicy seasoned piece of beef. Aslso didn't have to anything to the fries. The came with just the right amount of salt. It's hard to really find a good burger place without breaking the bank. This place was very good. From the staff to the food. Everything was wonderful. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

It is a large space with a long bar as you walk in. When I went, the host/tess was located all the way inside the restaurant, so you walk the length of the restaurant to be greeted and seated by the host. I made my way down to her and she seated me right away. I asked for a water and an Irish coffee. She was not sure they had the glassware for an Irish coffee, but she checked with the bartender. And he was able to conjure up something as I was the first person to ask for one. I was a little surprised by that since they offer Irish breakfasts, but either way, I was very appreciative of his going above and beyond for me to make it work. He even asked which whiskey I wanted and had to search for some brown sugar for me. Very accommodating. The Irish breakfast came out and it was so good. The chef came out to speak with me too, I let him know I loved everything but the beans. He mentioned he was trying it out, as it is authentic, but knows it could be tweaked. I did love the marmalade, homemade marmalade on the dish, so good! I enjoyed the sausage - bangers and pudding - as well. So authentic and good! I felt like I was back in Ireland. Just needed some sheep to bahhh by. I do wish the hostess/waitress would have checked in on me more, my water was never refilled and I needed napkins as I had sticky fingers from that amazing marmalade jam. I plan to come back and bring some friends or out of friends, as I miss my Peppermill and this restaurant, I find, is a pretty good replacement - with Irish coffees and all. And proceeds go towards charity. How great is that! I hope they made the Irish coffee a permanent option on the menu before I come back!
