Full rack ribs, brisket, chicken, Mac, fries

Alright so most people reading these reviews of Dickey's are wondering how it compares to Mission BBQ. I'm going to answer that. The ribs are very tender and fall right off the bone. Amazing flavor and perfect amount of sauce "brushed" on and not slathered on. In my opinion the ribs beat Mission. The brisket is very dry and average, and I feel Mission is more flavorful. The chicken breast is rather bland but still alright, way better seasoned over at Mission. Now for the sides. The fries are thicker than at mission bbq, and they're also made fresh right when you order unlike mission that has them sitting out all day. When you order fries, they hand cut them right in front of you, season them in a bowl, and throw them in the frier. Awesome French fries. The Mac n cheese is average and mission's is way better. The roll at dickeys kind of sucks and the cornbread at mission is way better. Wish dickeys did the cornbread. The restaurant is very clean and has cool decor, same with mission. If you're trying to decide between the two, I guess it just depends on what you're ordering. For me, I choose dickeys because the ribs are the best part of a bbq meal for me, but like I said it depends what your preferences are. Overall 4 stars, and the employees are friendly. I like going here often.

Knocking off a star for the inedible side salad I was served today. Not acceptable for pieces of core and rotten leaves. Come on people! The prices are more expensive now, so please better quality or we'll go elsewhere.

Lunch today from Dickey's because it seemed to be about as "keto-friendly" as I'm going to get in this part of town. Meat and such is usually quite good and so this was where we landed for chain barbecue. Service was good, you place your order with the meat slicer and then there's a sides person who adds to your platter. It's all served on a was paper-covered tray which sure makes it easy for them and it's pretty close to traditional Texas too. I chose a two-meat plate, brisket and turkey. While they do have huge dispensers for sauces, it's usually got a lot of sugar so I went without. The meat was a little dry but it was decently flavorful. The brisket had some fat to it (I was not asked how "moist") and it's a reasonable lunch-sized service. Green beans were thoroughly cooked and tasty if way overdone. Cole slaw was fine, nothing special. I like that they have pickles and white onions on their fixins bar. Having just returned from Austin, Dickey's is working hard to keep it close to the proper Texas barbecue joint. Service was good, portion was good, food was good. It's not "as good as it gets" but I can safely say that I'm a fan. [Review 10214 overall, 1801 of 2018.]

Poorly managed! Pricey, not a friendly team, but the food is good. I like Dickeys BBQ slightly over Mission BBQ, but I seem to go to the latter for better service and to see customer service oriented associates. Dickeys app is much harder than most to maneuver. I have been to Dickeys five times in the two months since I moved to the area. The Saturday night Team it always appears to be downright rude to dine in customers . They also seem to close early each Saturday night. It states 11am to 9pm, but it closes at 7pm to 7:30pm each time I have been there. All were late evenings!

Jalapeño Cheddar Kielbasa 2-Meat Plate, with baked potato casserole and Mac n Cheese, missing the roll.

I didn't realize this was my 7th check-in at this location. I didn't have much to write about until this visit. Unfortunately, it's not going to be a positive review.  It was a drizzling all day. We went in around 7 pm.  No other customers at the time. We did duly hear a "welcome to Dickey's" greeting on our way in.  We ordered today's (Thursday) special because it's a no-brainer as far as being a good deal.  Not only is the price cheaper than the menu price, but you also get a complimentary Big Yellow Cup for drink.  Today's special was the Jalapeno Cheddar Kielbasa + Pull Pork 2-Meat plate.  At first,I was very excited because I've never had Dickey's Kielbasa before. I like kielbasa in general and this one looked loaded!  Unfortunately, it was cold and mushy.  It was also salty and I had to get a lot of onions to go with it. The pulled pork was mushy as well, without any texture or taste and I had to pour lots of BBQ sauce to make it delectable. BTW, I have always felt the warm BBQ sauce is one thing that sets Dickey's apart from other BBQ joints.  For the sides, we had Baked Potato Casserole and Mac & Cheese.  They were good, hot, and up to par. After I finished my meal and waited for the rest of the table to finish. I read the menu and realized the 2-meat plate should have come with a roll.  What a bummer because I could have used the roll to supplement the salty proteins. The picture and other customers' plates all included a roll. Subtract a star. After the lackluster and disappointing meal, we stopped by the adjacent Capital City Mall. Even before my wife finished shopping at the first store, I had a bad stomach cramp and had to run to the toilet at Macy's. Damn it - I had a diarrhea!  These cold, mushy proteins were the culprits for sure.  Pray tell me, after today's episode, how would I ever go back?  Subtract another star...or two? With or without me, this Dickey's going to have tough days ahead because just 2 miles away a brand new Mission BBQ had just grand-opened up less than a month ago... Dickey's gonna have to step up, and what I experience today wouldn't cut it.

The wife and I decided to try a different place in our area. We normally goto a different bbq restaurant, but Dickey's is closer so we wanted to see what it taste like. We got delivery, even came a little sooner than expected. We got the 3 meats to try each and I got the pulled pork sandwich because that's what I normally get. When it all arrived the sauces weren't labeled, so not sure which was which and one of them tasted like A1. The chicken was the most flavorful, the ribs, brisket, and pork all were lacking in flavor. Mac and cheese tasted more like Easy Mac than anything else. The green beans were a bit salty. Corn muffin was good and fountain soda was the perfect carbonation to syrup ratio. Overall it wasn't disgusting food, just not for our flavor pallet. I deducted a star for overall flavor and definitely would've been nice if the sauces were labeled.

Great little place opened up on Hartzdale Rd in the strip mall across from the Capital City Mall! Dickey's offers an assortment of smoked meat products beef, pork, kielbasa & Chicken in various appetizing ways! Check out their menu either by person ok by Internet! One of the best welcomes you'll ever get is when you walk in and all the Staff yell welcome to Dickey's.! Sandwiches are filled and plates are large! Meat was very tender moist and tasty just the way smoked meat should be! 3 sauces are offered original, sweet & spicy of course I tried the spicy to me it had just the right amount of heat to compliment but not overpower my sandwich! A little touch of old western decor sets the ambiance.so if your looking for an enjoyable cozy bbq place give Dickey's a try I know I'll be back!

Mac & cheese, cabbage slaw, pulled pork to go.
    Diana D.

I keep forgetting about this place, so I made it a point to go there today. I ordered as takeout, a pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides, cabbage slaw and mac & cheese. My bad, I didn't realize that apparently there is a condiment area in the restaurant where you can add a sauce to your sandwich. I'll catch that next time. The smell from my sandwich drove me crazy on the short drive back to the office. Everything was packed to go nicely and there was no drippage. The cabbage slaw was some of the best I ever had, however the mac and cheese tasted suspiciously like Velveeta mac and cheese. Not horrible but not what I was expecting. The brioche bun that the pork was served on was toasted perfectly, and the sandwich was awesome even without the barbecue sauce. Next time I'll try something different than the mac and cheese and probably order it online. Service was prompt even though it was lunchtime.

This place started showing up in my social media feeds constantly. All day. Every day. Smoked meat?…read moreI'm listening. Smoked meat and homemade peanut butter pie? In the same building?! Immediate must-try status. I hatched a plan to visit on a chilly January Friday night, knowing they'd recently been selling out of items before their posted 7pm closing time. The target: 5:30pm. Risky enough to feel exciting, early enough to still secure smoked meat. A calculated move. Get Smok'd is located in a strip mall, and when I arrived, most of the front parking spots were full. Brief "oh no" moment...then I snagged a spot from someone pulling out and hustled inside. The dining room was much more spacious than it looked from outside, though many tables were already filled. I stepped up to the counter fully prepared--having studied both the menu and their social media all week in belly-growling anticipation. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with street corn and a fountain soda. Adventure Buddy went with the Lamb Gyro special, coleslaw, and a soda. Total for dinner came in around $40, which felt very reasonable for the amount of food. We timed it perfectly. About 10 minutes after we arrived, a large party of ~20 people walked in and filled a reserved table. More folks followed right behind them and suddenly the place was packed, buzzing, and running low on seats. Lamb Gyro: Fantastic. The smoke really came through on the lamb, and the tzatziki was super cucumber-forward, which Adventure Buddy loved. It was also a generous portion for the price--always appreciated. Street Corn: First off, the presentation was on point. The husk flared out like a little sunburst--very eye-catching. The cook on the corn was perfect, seasoning was just right, and the ear itself was a great size. Goldilocks corn. Coleslaw: This one missed the mark for us. The cabbage itself was fine, but the dressing was very bland and there was a lot of it--bordering on cold coleslaw soup territory. Not our thing, though it might work for some. Pulled Pork Sandwich: The pulled pork? Fabulous. Moist, juicy, perfectly smoky. I paired it with the Lawd That's Good traditional sweet sauce and ate every last bite of the meat. The roll, however, didn't live up to the pork--it felt like an odd mismatch. I skipped the bread and focused on the star of the show. Peanut Butter Pie: I...was not prepared. I did not expect a smoked meat joint to casually deliver one of the best peanut butter desserts I've had in a long time. This isn't a slice--this is a personal peanut butter pie. I'd guess 5-6 inches wide, about 1.5 inches thick, served in its own tin and piled high with whipped cream. This wasn't dessert--this was an entire second meal. At $10, it was worth every single penny, and I seriously debated ordering another. I will absolutely be back just for this pie. Overall, Get Smok'd BBQ earns a solid 5 stars from both me and Adventure Buddy. Friendly staff who checked in, meat smoked to perfection, and a peanut butter pie that completely stole the show. Good lawd! PRO TIP: If you're planning to visit later in the day, check Get Smok'd on social media first. They sell out. Early. Often. Don't waste a trip just to find locked doors and shattered BBQ dreams. This place is hot right now--and very much worth the visit if there's still smoked meat left to be had!

I didn't mind the price of the burger but the sides were too expensive for me to add. I just wanted something more with that burger. If that burger had Chips would be 5 stars. Highly recommend this place. I look forward to eating there again.

The only real question: Would Big Ray's chili dog treat me kindly? (Important considerations were made.) We arrived around 5:30pm on a chilly January Friday and quickly realized we were not alone in this brilliant decision. The dining room was already about ¾ full, which I take as an excellent sign when evaluating burger-and-dog establishments. After a quick menu scan, I locked in my order: a ¼-lb beef hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions ($4.99) plus a Diet Pepsi (because balance). Adventure Buddy went all in with the Honey Butter Chicken Club ($8.59) and an order of fried pickles ($4.99), washed down with an orange Fanta. Total damage? Under $27. Date night win already. The food came out fast and piping hot, which is exactly what you want when you're this hungry. My chili dog immediately delivered--solid flavor, generous chili, and most importantly, the hot dog was grilled, giving it that slight snap that separates the pros from the amateurs. No soggy sadness here. Adventure Buddy's chicken sandwich was also a standout. This was a legit chunk of chicken breast, not a sad, thin patty pretending to be something it's not. Crispy, juicy, and the honey butter added just the right touch of sweetness without crossing into dessert territory. The fried pickles were thick-cut, crunchy, and exactly what fried pickles should be--dangerously snackable. All around, Big Ray's absolutely delivered. Solid food, quick service, great value, and the kind of place you immediately add to your "easy yes" rotation for burgers, dogs, and sandwiches. I'll definitely be back--especially once the weather warms up and that front patio becomes fair game.
