Usually go to the Dickeys in Mechanicsburg. Never any issues. This place is a joke. They are supposed to fully refund me. $25 on gift card I used and $6.11 on Visa card. We will see. AVOID this place. Counter person absolutely no help and no manager on duty. UPDATE: That evening I got $6.11 credit on CC and my gift card was refunded BUT only $15 and not the full $25. Called Monday and spoke with the manager Brandon. Very pleasant conversation. He apologized for missing the $10 credit and said he would take care of it. Admitted there was a miscommunication between himself and the employee as to what I should have been receiving wing wise. Said he would address the situation. I thanked him for his handling of the issue and agreed to give them another try. So I did up the review from a one star to a 3 stars and we will order from them again. We got delivery from Dickey's after a long day being outside in the cold. The food was good but our delivery was missing items. It was very disappointing, I was looking forward to a loaded potato but ended up with more of a naked potato. We did reach out with no reply or response, obviously there wasn't much they could do once the food was delivered but a sorry goes a long way. One of the reason we ordered from here was due to having them having a delivery incentive, or I don't think I would have. I believe their food can be pricey. A working lunch yesterday had us discussing BBQ. One of the team sang the praises of this place so we ordered. The mac and cheese was okay and I'm told the pulled pork had nice juice and kick to it, but was nothing special for the price. I had ordered something off the menu but was later told it was not available and my portion refunded. This was not a great development but I was able to quickly pick something else, submit a new order and get back to work. The chicken sandwich was bland and a little tough, not juicy. Even without sauce, the meat should be flavorful and tender but this tasted like yesterday's chicken leftovers reheated. I was told that the Texas Toast was phenomenal but it barely registered as garlic bread; limp, bland, and small. For the price, I expected the chips to be fresh not a bag of Lay's. Not a great value. The Carolina sauce was tasty and salvaged the chicken sandwich, but otherwise - not worth going back for more. read more

Ordered the BBQ ribs and 2 loaded baked potatoes (choice of up to 4 toppings) with Grubhub delivery. On the order form, I requested sour cream, butter, green onions and cheddar cheese as my toppings, and clearly noted to have all the toppings on the side. All the food was nice and hot when it arrived. The ribs were meaty and delicious. Unfortunately, no toppings were in the side. Sour cream and cheese were on the potatoes. No evidence of butter or green onions anywhere. (Not everyone in our house likes cheese and sour cream.) After scraping off the topping, I added my own butter and the potato was delicious. read more

Alright so most people reading these reviews of Dickey's are wondering how it compares to Mission BBQ. I'm going to answer that. The ribs are very tender and fall right off the bone. Amazing flavor and perfect amount of sauce "brushed" on and not slathered on. In my opinion the ribs beat Mission. The brisket is very dry and average, and I feel Mission is more flavorful. The chicken breast is rather bland but still alright, way better seasoned over at Mission. Now for the sides. The fries are thicker than at mission bbq, and they're also made fresh right when you order unlike mission that has them sitting out all day. When you order fries, they hand cut them right in front of you, season them in a bowl, and throw them in the frier. Awesome French fries. The Mac n cheese is average and mission's is way better. The roll at dickeys kind of sucks and the cornbread at mission is way better. Wish dickeys did the cornbread. The restaurant is very clean and has cool decor, same with mission. If you're trying to decide between the two, I guess it just depends on what you're ordering. For me, I choose dickeys because the ribs are the best part of a bbq meal for me, but like I said it depends what your preferences are. Overall 4 stars, and the employees are friendly. Lunch today from Dickey's because it seemed to be about as "keto-friendly" as I'm going to get in this part of town. Meat and such is usually quite good and so this was where we landed for chain barbecue. Service was good, you place your order with the meat slicer and then there's a sides person who adds to your platter. It's all served on a was paper-covered tray which sure makes it easy for them and it's pretty close to traditional Texas too. I chose a two-meat plate, brisket and turkey. While they do have huge dispensers for sauces, it's usually got a lot of sugar so I went without. The meat was a little dry but it was decently flavorful. The brisket had some fat to it (I was not asked how "moist") and it's a reasonable lunch-sized service. Green beans were thoroughly cooked and tasty if way overdone. Cole slaw was fine, nothing special. I like that they have pickles and white onions on their fixins bar. Having just returned from Austin, Dickey's is working hard to keep it close to the proper Texas barbecue joint. Service was good, portion was good, food was good. We ordered dinner from here for the first time and likely will not be back. My partner ordered the brisket and pork ribs and I ordered the chicken, brisket, and jalapeño cheddar kielbasa. Sides included Mac and cheese, green beans, and baked beans. For starters, the food was barely warm and bone dry. The Mac and cheese was...not good, to say the least. It was basically a solid, tasteless lump. The baked beans tasted like they had too much ketchup in the sauce and the green beans just weren't good. Our meals came with a piece of toast, but it was just a piece of toast. We ordered put so we can't speak to the service or the ambiance of the place, but I don't think I need to. The food was the worst we've had in awhile. The only reason I didn't score it a 1 star is because we did eat some of it. I would recommend trying other places over this one. read more

Poorly managed! Pricey, not a friendly team, but the food is good. I like Dickeys BBQ slightly over Mission BBQ, but I seem to go to the latter for better service and to see customer service oriented associates. Dickeys app is much harder than most to maneuver. I have been to Dickeys five times in the two months since I moved to the area. The Saturday night Team it always appears to be downright rude to dine in customers . They also seem to close early each Saturday night. It states 11am to 9pm, but it closes at 7pm to 7:30pm each time I have been there. All were late evenings! read more

I didn't realize this was my 7th check-in at this location. I didn't have much to write about until this visit. Unfortunately, it's not going to be a positive review.  It was a drizzling all day. We went in around 7 pm.  No other customers at the time. We did duly hear a "welcome to Dickey's" greeting on our way in.  We ordered today's (Thursday) special because it's a no-brainer as far as being a good deal.  Not only is the price cheaper than the menu price, but you also get a complimentary Big Yellow Cup for drink.  Today's special was the Jalapeno Cheddar Kielbasa + Pull Pork 2-Meat plate.  At first,I was very excited because I've never had Dickey's Kielbasa before. I like kielbasa in general and this one looked loaded!  Unfortunately, it was cold and mushy.  It was also salty and I had to get a lot of onions to go with it. The pulled pork was mushy as well, without any texture or taste and I had to pour lots of BBQ sauce to make it delectable. BTW, I have always felt the warm BBQ sauce is one thing that sets Dickey's apart from other BBQ joints.  For the sides, we had Baked Potato Casserole and Mac & Cheese.  They were good, hot, and up to par. After I finished my meal and waited for the rest of the table to finish. I read the menu and realized the 2-meat plate should have come with a roll.  What a bummer because I could have used the roll to supplement the salty proteins. The picture and other customers' plates all included a roll. Subtract a star. After the lackluster and disappointing meal, we stopped by the adjacent Capital City Mall. Even before my wife finished shopping at the first store, I had a bad stomach cramp and had to run to the toilet at Macy's. Damn it - I had a diarrhea!  These cold, mushy proteins were the culprits for sure.  Pray tell me, after today's episode, how would I ever go back?  Subtract another star...or two? With or without me, this Dickey's going to have tough days ahead because just 2 miles away a brand new Mission BBQ had just grand-opened up less than a month ago... Dickey's gonna have to step up, and what I experience today wouldn't cut it. read more

The wife and I decided to try a different place in our area. We normally goto a different bbq restaurant, but Dickey's is closer so we wanted to see what it taste like. We got delivery, even came a little sooner than expected. We got the 3 meats to try each and I got the pulled pork sandwich because that's what I normally get. When it all arrived the sauces weren't labeled, so not sure which was which and one of them tasted like A1. The chicken was the most flavorful, the ribs, brisket, and pork all were lacking in flavor. Mac and cheese tasted more like Easy Mac than anything else. The green beans were a bit salty. Corn muffin was good and fountain soda was the perfect carbonation to syrup ratio. Overall it wasn't disgusting food, just not for our flavor pallet. I deducted a star for overall flavor and definitely would've been nice if the sauces were labeled. read more

This was one of the worst meals I've had. We used a "local flavor" spend $10 get $20 deals. I can say, the pickles were good. I got the smoked turkey sandwich with pickles and onions. I had to slice the onions myself because they were about 3/4" thick and 3/4" diameter. The sand was COLD. Not luke warm, but cold. I probably order from this restaurant every 3 weeks or so. I know that it's a chain, and my preference is to avoid chain restaurants, but their jalapeño cheese kielbasa and Mac and cheese are favorites. The level of cooking of the kielbasa seems to vary, sometimes it's sliced thinner and wonderfully crispy around the edges and other times it is cut chunky and not so well done. I'm a wimp when it comes to spice so after a few pieces of meat, I feel the burn. The mac and cheese isn't something to rave about but is a tasty combo. I dice up the leftover meat and mix it together with any leftover max and cheese before storing. A great next day lunch. Suggestion: get the cornbread, not the rolls. The rolls are boring but the muffins with a bit of butter and jam is a great snack. read more

Dickey's offers an assortment of smoked meat products beef, pork, kielbasa & Chicken in various appetizing ways! Check out their menu either by person ok by Internet! One of the best welcomes you'll ever get is when you walk in and all the Staff yell welcome to Dickey's.! Sandwiches are filled and plates are large! Meat was very tender moist and tasty just the way smoked meat should be! 3 sauces are offered original, sweet & spicy of course I tried the spicy to me it had just the right amount of heat to compliment but not overpower my sandwich! We had a restaurant.com coupon which was the only incentive for going to Dickey's. We couldn't use the restaurant.com coupon on Deal of the Day so we had to pay regular price on the Deal of the Day and we didn't get the Big Yellow Cup drink. If a restaurant is listed on restaurant.com , it is a sign that it is either a new restaurant trying to get new business or existing restaurant that is not too good and has trouble getting customers. We both ordered the ribs. The ribs were cold and dry as jerky. The sides were warmer. There were 2 tiny bones and 1 long bone of ribs so this was considered the 3 bones platter. Have been hesitant in visiting any of these establishments due to mix reviews. However, what better way to know something or learn then going to the source. While the menu can be overwhelming for a newbie going in, the staff here not only greet you but are attentative to your needs and/or any questions you may have. The place was clean which is always a plus. The beef brisket not only was moist and tender, but had the smoked charred edges which makes it all the more appetizing. The Mac and cheese, while creamy, is still Mac and cheese. The potatoe salad was very delicious I might add. Overall, my experience was a pleasant one along with the generous staff working today. I keep forgetting about this place, so I made it a point to go there today. I ordered as takeout, a pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides, cabbage slaw and mac & cheese. My bad, I didn't realize that apparently there is a condiment area in the restaurant where you can add a sauce to your sandwich. I'll catch that next time. The smell from my sandwich drove me crazy on the short drive back to the office. Everything was packed to go nicely and there was no drippage. The cabbage slaw was some of the best I ever had, however the mac and cheese tasted suspiciously like Velveeta mac and cheese. Not horrible but not what I was expecting. The brioche bun that the pork was served on was toasted perfectly, and the sandwich was awesome even without the barbecue sauce. I have always went to the one in Lancaster so I wanted to try this one in Camp Hill. Upon entering, the decor is really down and homie. I ordered the pulled pork slider like usually do because i don't eat a lot. I also got a side of the baked beans. The people working behind the counter are extremely courteous and help you out if you're really not sure what you want. I was very please with my food. Everything was delicious. The manger even came out and asked how everything was and if we needed anything. Extremely clean inside. I will definitely be back. read more

We met friends here last night. The place smelled amazing. Dining is casual so you walk up to the counter to order then u can take out or eat in. We ended up doing take out after realizing there wasn't room for us to sit together (6 adults/3 kids). No big deal. The menu is pretty simple and lots of sides to choose from. They have extra sauce at the fixings bar: original, sweet and hot. They also have soft serve ice cream which appears to be free with your meal. Drinks are fountain beverages - self served. My husband got the 3 meat platter with chicken, brisket and pork while I got the ribs and there were chicken nuggets for our grand daughter. Hubs really enjoyed his platter however my ribs were pretty dry and a little tough. The flavor was good tho. Our friends said they had had the ribs previously and they had been good in the past so I would try again. Sides were so so. I didn't care for the mushy mac n cheeses the creamed spinach. This place is a few miles from my house and this is the first time I've eaten here. Truly embarrassing because it was good...great barbecue, great selection of sides and options, very laid back, and you get one of the (what I'm assuming are) famous yellow cups. Was excited to see this place pop up as a new lunch spot. You walk in to a clean and friendly atmosphere. They even yell, "welcome to dickeys!" I love that! It's a pretty simple order process, look at the menu, tell the order person, move down, pay, grab your tray of food and sit down. They have one size soda in a big yellow cup you can keep and one of those snazzy freestyle soda machines which my favorite crushed ice balls! Next to that is an area with napkins, silverware, onions, pickles, and warm sauces. Today I tried the beef brisket slider and two sides. I chose the green beans with bacon and the baked potato casserole. The beef brisket was okay. It was tasty but a little fatty. I tried it first with no sauce. Bland. Added some hot sauce. That sauce was tasty and had a good punch of heat to it. I next tried the sweet which was sweet but unremarkable. The green beans were not good. They seemed canned and the bacon flavor was overwhelming but not in a good way. It almost felt artificial like they sprayed It with a bacon flavor. I know they couldn't have but that's how it felt. The loaded bake potato casserole was okay. They were pretty much loaded mashed potatoes. Not sure what I was expecting them to look like in my head but wasn't expecting that. Decent cheese and bacon flavor but again, unremarkable. I tried my friends' baked beans and they were a winner. Sweet and zesty. Perfect. Overall if I was dying for BBQ and there was no where else around I'd go here to get a fix but it's not cravable by any stretch. First and last time I'll probably go to a Dickey's BBQ. I went in and the guy cutting the meat greets me and takes my order I start my order with Holy Kielbasa he start cutting meat, after he puts it on the sandwich he asks if there is anything else. I asked if that sandwich came with a choice of meat? He stated it did and had to switch the meat. He took the other two sandwich orders and the next guy in line asked me about sides. I look up and get beans and no drink. The last lady asks me if I wanted a drink, nope. Then she tried to give me my meal with a sandwich missing. I eventually get my meal and walk out the door (this took 20 mins I'm on lunch break for work) I get back to work and there is no napkins, utensils, onions, pickles...nothing in my bag. I guess they assume I should know this is elsewhere. If you're gonna have people come to your establishment and if you give them ZERO instructions we aren't going to assume this stuff. Watching you guys instruct people to get into line is a perfect example. The only guy with any positive vibes was behind the counter telling his employees to interact with the customers and asking how the weather was. Terrible experience overall, everyone here seems to want to do anything but work. Now onto the food. It's not the best barbecue place but it's pretty good. Unfortunately the pandemic has affected most of the places I eat at in respect to quality and frequency. I have noticed that quality varies with the availability of their products. The supply chain has been strained and I understand that. And when it comes to brisket. It takes 18 hrs to cook so that really affects it's quality and availability. With that out of the way. Everything on the visit was good not as great as it has been during some previous visits. The brisket was a little tough and stringy during this visit. Still good just not as good as in past visits. The staff was friendly and the dining room was clean. I feel the price of the meal was fair granted What I bought was the Saturday special which is a great deal. The one thing I have never liked about this location is that they don't have a fryer so you can't get waffle fries or onion tanglers etc etc. This location doesn't have ice cream, which is great for putting the fire out in your mouth after using the spicy sauce. And talking about the sauce, they offer three sauces regular, spicy, and sweet. I use a combination of regular and spicy. I also like that the barbecue sauce is heated so your food stays hot while enjoying it. I haven't been to any other barbecue restaurants that offer this. I think it's great. Anyway I still recommend trying this location. And I recommend the brisket sandwich chopped made into a meal by adding 2 sides mac n cheese, and Baked potato casserole and adding a Big Yellow Cup (30oz) of sweet tea. Just tried them about a week after they opened and will not be going back. The first thing that should have been a warning was absolutely no smoke smell that you associate with a BBQ. The meats were being sliced for each order from meat that was wrapped in plastic. I don't know when the meat was supposed to be smoked, but it had no flavor or the crust associated with BBQ. Our guess was that it came in precooked from a commissary or something. The mac and cheese was petty much boiled mac that had a can of cheese sauce mixed over it. Nothing like a southern baked mac & cheese. The other sides we tried were just as bad. Not inedible, but overall like a high school cafeteria meal designed for economy and bland enough that no one would be offended. My boyfriend and I stopped in here today for the first time. I have to say I usually can be a bit picky about food sometimes, but man, this spot had ridiculously amazing food!!!! We were left more than satisfied with the food quality & the amount you receive, COVID-19 protocols and social distancing, prices, and friendliness of the staff. The staff members were so nice and extremely helpful, especially for us first-timers. We took our left overs home and are currently enjoying dinner. I also question the cleanliness... floors are slick with grease, and I've witness the cashier handle money with their gloved hands. No free ice cream, no waffle fries which my wife likes, the menu didn't offer affordable meal deals (no 1/2/3 meat meal deals that include sides). I seem to recall they didn't have many sauce choices either. I've always recommended the location in Mechanicsburg on the Carlisle Pike for all of these reasons but sadly that location is closed now.
