Great food, nice cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff/owner. We definitely ate way too much. Appetizers started with Kimchi Pajeon 김치전 (kimchi pancake) & Kimbap 김밥. Both were really good. Tasted fresh and flavorful. I would have asked for the kimchi pancakes to be fried just a little longer, but that's just my preference. The kimbap was delicious and putting a little splash of soy sauce makes it even better. For our main course we had the Dol Sot Bibimbap and the Pork Belly. Both are exceptional. Great flavors and portions are pretty good. Prices are a little high, but what isn't these days. The food is well worth the price. Definitely one of my favorites places to go to for Korean food and to marvel at the state license plate wall. Owner was a professional mountain climber and has amassed a lot of memorabilia and photos of his climbs all on display for customers to look at. Definitely a great place to check out when in Camp Hill. read more

If I could give it a million star rating, I would! Everything this restaurant served was top notch. I wish I would've taken pictures of the interior but I was so awe struck by the taste of the food that I forgot. You can tell the owner takes great pride in his establishment, as well as his culture and sharing it with the customers. We started with the fried dumplings and Kimbap, which were fantastic. We then went to our mains, which were the Yööƙ Gal Tang and Gangjeong, which i highly recommend both. The Yook was a delightfully spicy soup that has quite the kick to it and is loaded with noodles, onions and vegetables; it is also served with rice, kimchi and pickled radishes. The Gangjeong also had a good kick of spice to it as well as a pleasant sweet sauce, it was served with rice as well. All in all, we will be back and can't wait to try the Korean fried chicken. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we walked in, and the staff remained just as friendly until we left. We ordered the fried dumplings, tofu stew, bulgogi, galbi, tteokbokki, kimbap, korean fried chicken honey garlic and sweet and spicy sauce--everything was delicious, and we loved that all the dishes came out at the same time. The tofu stew was hands down the best I've had so far--definitely a must-try! The owner was incredibly kind and attentive, constantly refilling our water and side dishes (banchan) without us having to ask. I went there with my friends today and we had an unpleasant experience. The wait time was long and when we got our food, lit was bland. We have been here before and I would have given it 5 stars, but the new chef or whomever just overcooked everything! Arghhh!! For $95 (including tip), we got overcooked boneless Korean chicken. It tasted so dry and hard! My bibimbap hot pot, the rice was too hard and crisp. My husband's breaded pork was over fried and also hard to eat. My son's noodles, which I forgot to take photo of, he said they were fine. If I ever return here then I'm going to have to tell the owner/waiter to not over cook the food that much. Last year the meal was tasty and perfect. Last week was not good. Korean everything is trendy: South Korea for travel, Koren skincare, Korean entertainment, etc so a lot of Americans love Korea and this place could be rocking like the Korean restaurants in NYC and northern VA, but that Hispanic cook girl just ruined everything. Every couple years we retry the Koop. And every couple years we are disappointed. It's kind of expensive and everythjng we order seems slightly off. Tonight we ordered medium kimchee. That was good. Though a medium seems pretty small. The other two items we ordered were the denjang jigae and welsched onion chicken. We didn't enjoy either. We also asked for utensils but weren't provided any. We went there before and had wings and they were pretty good. I prefer Korealicious and will have to try the new place at the mall. read more

Do not eat here! My family got sick (vomiting and diarrhea) within 24 hours eat the food. There are several utensils in a box on the table so anyone can contaminate the eating utensils. This raises serious hygiene concerns. The person serving and taking your order was friendly but the food safety issues isn't make this place not work the risk. read more

Came here for lunch. I was greeted by a kind gentleman at the front and was told a number to be seated at a table. He then came over with water and a cup and menu. Gave me a little time to decide. I have to say... for Korean food, the menu was a bit on the pricier side. The chicken was fairly priced, so I got that to try as I could easily make the other dishes at home. The boneless honey garlic chicken was good, crispy and nicely paired with the pickled radish. I would probably come back for the chicken. Other diners did get the bulgogi and bibimbap and they seemed to be pretty happy with their meals. Ambiance is nice. Interestingly decorated. Everything was delicious and the owner was very attentive and friendly. The Kim chi was really good, as were the pickled radishes. The wings were very tasty as well. Nice photos of his Korean mountain climbing team adorn the walls. I can't wait to go back and try the spicy pork trotters. The food was ok, everything seemed to be a bit off, ambiance was great. The fried chicken was not that good, which was surprising. Not crunchy, not enough flavor. One of the sauces was more ketchup than anything else. The japchae was very sticky, not sure if cooked too long, difficult to eat. Kimchi portion was minuscule. The bibimbap was small, not a lot of chicken, not enough flavor. Our server didn't know the dishes well and wasn't a great help in choosing our food. Made the drive from Lancaster since we lack Korean options. I placed my order through Yelp and selected my pickup time according to Maps ETA. Online ordering was very easy and my food was ready exactly when I arrived. The place looked super cute! I would definitely like to return when I have the time to dine-in. There is a small cart near the entrance for take-out orders, so my entire experience was contactless. I ate about half in the car because I was driving right back to Lancaster and wasn't sure how the food would travel. I was disappointed with the chicken. There was barely any sauce and when I could taste it, it lacked flavor and spice. About half the chicken was over fried and very dry. The Kimchi Jjigae was much better! Full of flavor, big pieces of kimchi, and soft tofu. I'm glad I had some before I left because by the time I got home the tofu had firmed up a bit from the drive, which I was anticipating (I'm about 45 minutes away). I wouldn't make a special trip from Lancaster again, but if I'm in Harrisburg I would absolutely like to try again. read more

Went to the Koop last night with my wife and son. Probably our third time there since it opened. My wife got the Dol Sot Bibimbap, my son got the Teriyaki chicken and I got the whole small fried chicken. Dol Sot Bibimbap: my wife said it tasted fantastic, HOWEVER, the portion size was almost laughable. It came with pork that was about a half cup, and that's being generous, assorted vegetables and a fried egg. My wife gets full pretty quickly and she was still very hungry when we left. $22.95 Teriyaki chicken: The menu picture shows strips of chicken...no. Chicken was chopped into about half inch cubes which totalled, maybe, one chicken breast in sauce. Again, very small portions. My son was eating off my plate and whatever else he could scrounge. $26.95!!! Absolutely ridiculous for what he got. Fried Chicken: Was good, very juicy, good sauce. Menu said 6 pieces which was one wing, one leg, one portion of A thigh and two portions of A breast. I think the breast is cut into three pieces because two pieces put together would be a VERY small breast $14.95. Oh yeah, I got a side of fries for 4.95. Nothing special just your normal average restaurant supply store frozen fries. My son ate most of them as he was still ravenous from his meager portions. My wife and sons dishes came with a tiny bowl of rice and I mean tiny, maybe a half cup of rice. If your going to screw us on everything else at least pack on the rice. There is a reason it's provided as relief food for starving countries, because it's CHEAP! My wife's also came with a small portion of kimchi and pickled radish. Total about $80 with tip. All in all will not go back again. Getting pretty tired of getting screwed at restaurants with their small portions and high prices, but this place was ridiculous. read more

The fried chicken cannot be beat! Between the sweet and spicy and honey garlic, there is no other chicken I crave. I also love the kimchi and pickled radish. I've been here twice now with a year between visits and the food is as delicious as the first time I tried it. To top it off, the owner is so kind and has a joyful disposition. Gangjeong chicken was ok, but may be too sweet for some. Not sure that it's worth $24.95 but giving a star for that. The (a Korean dude that worked there) was a bit rude when I came in to pick up. In my ongoing efforts to try all of the ethnic foods available in Hbg, my husband and I sought out The Koop. We've been there twice now and both times we really enjoyed the food. On both occasions we enjoyed wings with spicy soy garlic sauce. Like really enjoyed them. We scooped up every bit of sauce in the basket. The wings were amazing. SUPER SUPER crispy. I ordered the Dol Sot Bibimbap without really knowing what to expect. It came out sizzling and the server said to add the sauce and stir for awhile so the rice wouldn't burn on the bottom. I added too much sauce so it was a little spicy hot to me while also temperature hot. I enjoyed it but my favorite parts were the crispy bits of rice from the bottom of the pan. Last time I had the Galbi- short ribs in a sweet sauce with spring onions. I enjoyed it, the beef was tasty but awkward to eat. I'm not sure I ate it correctly. I will keep returning to The Koop for more fried chicken and to try other things on the menu. I just wish the dishes were explained a little more. The service is friendly and willing to discuss the food but also a little spotty. We waited on water refills for awhile. The space is pretty hipster cool with lots of national park hiking/ mountain climbing stuff. read more

I'm glad finally there's a place that serves Korean fried chicken in this area.  Before The Koop, the closest one I know was in Frederick MD inside the H Mart, which by the way is also managed by the same owner, Andy. He manages 2 other locations including one in State College.  The exterior is modest, unlike the previous Spring Garden which had a distinctive Asian façade.  The ambiance is informal, it could have been the inside of a chalet at a remote place, especially given all the mountaineering paraphernalia in the front corner and the license plates hung on the wall from all over the world.  In a way it's rather memorable.  It was 3 pm on a Saturday but still there were 4 other table occupied, many were young Asians which could mean authenticity isn't far off. Andy and the wait staff were both very friendly. The menu was simple, but the prices were not cheap. We ordered a large 16 pcs wings for $23.95 and the Hemul Pajeon seafood pancake appetizer for $12.95.  It's a bit funny that we were given some wing samples after we made our order, but we'll take it!   It didn't take too long before the wings were served.  The wings (and drumettes) looked great. We had the Sweet & Spicy and Honey Garlic varieties. They tasted good but I wasn't blown away mainly because the temperature wasn't hot at all, only a bit warmer than room temperature.  We had Pickled Daikon for the side.  It didn't feel pickled at all, neither sweet nor sour, another downer.  The seafood pancake came shortly after and it was humongous, about the size of a medium pizza.  The taste again was all right but the texture left much to be desired. It was soggy and was breaking apart when we tried to serve it.  There's so much carb that we were beyond stuffed.  So I'd say fried chicken is what they're known for and you have the best chance of getting satisfaction. I was a bit disappointed on this visit, but I'd like to think it was an off day because I've had good experience in their MD location. We drove back as a group of 12+ from a long snowboarding trip in the Poconos, and by tHe end of the trip we were all craving Korean food, especially a nice bowL of hot soondubu. We were pumped to find this little gem on our drive back to Maryland. We were pleased to see the place preTty busy when we went in on a Sunday afternoon, and also with quite a diverse crowd too. Even though we came in with such a big party, they were so quick to take our orders, and even gave us some fried shrimp as service to start off. ThE owner was super friendly and sweet. For people who he might never see again given we are from Maryland, I felt like hE treated us with utmost respect and care. I highly recommend this spot and am always in favor of supporting local restaurants over chains. Will try to come back and pay another visit if I'm in the area. Thank you for the great service. We loved the chicken, soups, and budae jjigae! If I could offer any advice, I'd recommend that the pancakes be fried / cooked a little bit longer so theyre crispy ratheR than on the soft/soggy side. With only 2 wOrkers though, they did a phenomal job. We left super satisfied :) perfecT way to end the trip! read more

If you're looking for amazing authentic Korean food, this is the place for you. The Koop has blown up as the Korean Fried Chicken place but there is so much more to this restaurant. From Bulgogi to the bibimbap to the homemade kimchi, everything is packed with flavor. Most people know that good quality but does not come cheap and this is the case here. You should be prepared to spend between $20 and $30 per person but you will not go away hungry. The owners are incredibly friendly. They take pride in their work, and pay extra attention to every meal that comes out of their kitchen. If you're looking for a great date night, a place to try something different, or just really good Asian food you must stop by the Koop. read more

This place was awesome! The chicken was so tasty and crispy. I got the dish with the green onions and garlic sauce. It was SO good. The man working (I assume the owner) was super friendly and provided great and prompt service. I wish I lived closer because I'd be in once a week! I got salad, rice, and kimchi too with a few Korean drinks and everything was great. I hope things get back to normal and they can reopen indoor seating. This is an awesome small business that is well-deserving of beating the COVID toll. I'll be back even though I live almost 2 hours away! I was so excited to try this place after a recommendation from a friend.....google reviews were decent. I finally ordered the friend chicken yesterday and was severely disappointed. There was zero flavor and it was so dry and overcooked that it was like eating fried chicken jerky. I am not exaggerating even a little bit. The side salad was brown with not even enough dressing to cover half of the salad. All around just not worth the $17 I paid......I wouldn't have given this to raccoons. read more
