Well I have been looking forward to trying this place. We got 12 wings 1/2 spicy 1/2 Korean bbq a side of kimchi. The good: I liked the kimchi. (And the pickled radishes) The not so good: the wings. They tasted almost fake. I was expecting a stickler, crunchier and fully cooked feel. Instead it tasted like a fake wing with a lot of breading. The flavor of the Korean bbq was just ok. For the price and the quality I don't think I would go back. Primanti brothers has a sweet/spicy flavor that I like better and similarly fake-ish wings I can get for a lot less. Too bad.

Harrisburg should recognize this place more as some of the best chicken around. We don't have many fried chicken wing spots around, and when you think fried chicken it's usually heavy. However Korean chicken tends to be lighter. This is a thinner and lighter coating on the chicken, it's crispy, not much flavor, but it's juicy and the sauces do the talking. The wings are a bit bigger than other places. Also, if you get the drums on their menu, THEY'RE BIG. Don't order too much. Soy Garlic and Spicy are both great options. Get the spicy mayo and yemyeong to dip. Fries good, the seasoned ones are even better. The corn is interesting as well with a bit of cheese and something else I can't remember. We definitely need more Korean chicken spots in Harrisburg, and this place should get more recognition. I was debating between 4 or 5 stars, I didn't want to give it 5 because the sides aren't anything special, but I'm at 4.5 because the chicken is that good.

First time trying Bonchon, I ordered the Classic Crunch 6 PC MIXED: 4 WINGS + 2 DRUMS , PICKLED RADISH and COLESLAW. Chicken was juicy and crunchy A+.

6 wings in Korean BBQ (left) and 6 in Yangnyeom, $16.95. Good but need to be more Korean-fried-chicken crispy.

I've tried Bonchon years ago in MD. It finally made its way to the area last year (in the fall of 2023). It's another nice addition to the Capital City Mall. BTW, I am happy that the Harrisburg area is turning more "metropolitan" as more and more trendier ethnic establishments come to town: Boba Cha and Bonchon in the mall, and I heard that Kongfu Tea will be opening up on Carlisle Pike. But it stills plays catch-up to Lancaster and York. I digress. We tried the 12 piece wings ($16.95). For choices of sauce we skipped the more familiar soy sauce and the spicy, and opted for the more curious Korean BBQ and the Yangnyeom. You're only allowed to choose up to 2 in an order BTW. It took less than 5 minutes, I kind of wished it took longer so we'd know for sure they were made to order. The batch were an assortment of wings and drumettes (3 and 9, respectively.) They weren't pronouncedly crispy like Korean fried chicken are known for, but at least they were temperature hot. The Korean BBQ taste good but kind of went unnoticed, while the Yangnyeom sauce which is garlicky, sweet, and (not so) spicy. I prefer and recommend the latter. Not a bad outing. The only miss today was the crust could have been crispier and thicker as should be the case if you deep-fry twice.

I've had Bonchon in other locations and when I heard it opened here, I had to give it a try. Prices have gone up since it has been awhile since I have been to a bonchon. I ordered the soy garlic wings. When I opened the box, I was extremely shocked to find how tiny the wings were! I do not recall other bonchon locations having wings this small especially for the price ! The flavor and crisp on the wings were good though but not worth what you are paying for. Would probably not come back because of this. They need to increase their wing size or lower their pricing for it to be worth it.

When I saw PA Bakery advertising mini King Cakes for Mardi Gras, I was genuinely thrilled. A…read morereasonably sized King Cake felt like a dream come true -- all the fun of the tradition without committing to feeding an entire village. I immediately pre-ordered two mini King Cakes at $5.50 each (total $11), already imagining the moment I'd get to gloat when I found the hidden baby! The mini King Cakes were actually quite generous in size. Easily enough for 3-4 people...although I personally demolished mine in one sitting and have zero regrets. Now for the part that caught me off guard. The plastic baby -- arguably the entire point of a traditional King Cake -- was perched on top instead of hidden inside. I was fully anticipating that moment of excitement that comes from discovering the baby mid-bite, because that's kind of the magic of a King Cake tradition. Without that element, what I ended up with felt more like a very festive brioche-style cinnamon roll wearing Mardi Gras colors than a King Cake. To be clear, it tasted good. The cake itself was soft without being dry, had plenty of cinnamon-esque filling without tipping into overly gooey territory, and was generously finished with frosting and sugary crystals. Flavor-wise, no complaints. But if you're marketing something specifically as a King Cake, the expectation is that the baby is hidden within. Otherwise, it changes the experience entirely. For food safety purposes, there are plenty of creative alternatives -- an edible marzipan baby, a clearly oversized non-choking-hazard version, sticker on the box, etc. -- but the surprise element is part of what makes a King Cake a King Cake. Overall, not a bad experience -- just not quite the Mardi Gras moment I was hoping for. Next year, I'll probably seek out a bakery that leans into the full King Cake tradition...because if I'm chasing the thrill of finding a tiny plastic baby in my dessert, I want to earn that victory properly. If the baby isn't going in the cake, just let me know up front so I can manage my expectations (and my Mardi Gras excitement) accordingly.

That seems to fit the place well, because when I arrived there were clearly other business conversations happening at multiple tables. It feels like a popular spot for people to meet, work, and get things done, not just grab a drink and leave. I asked the staff if they could make a Mexican coffee. They were not sure at first, but once I explained it is essentially a chocolate mocha with a little cayenne pepper, they were willing to make it. It turned out great. The ambiance is solid. It is not overly noisy, and it is easy to have a conversation without raising your voice. The only downside is the seating layout, which feels more like a school cafeteria than a cozy coffee shop. It is functional, just not especially inviting. There is parking on site, but I can see it filling up quickly during peak times, with overflow going to nearby street parking. Overall, this is a dependable, non chain coffee spot that I would return to, especially for a business meeting or when I want a coffee I do not have to second guess in terms of preparation and consistency.

Second visit in a month. Third flavor tried. That should tell you everything…read more This time we went for the Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl Bundtlet ($6.75) -- classic white cake filled with creamy cheesecake, swirled and drizzled with real strawberry glaze, and topped with their signature cream cheese frosting. Moist, rich, and just sweet enough without tipping into sugar overload. We shared one for dessert, and it was the perfect size for two people who want to feel slightly virtuous about splitting dessert (don't worry, we still scraped the frosting off the container). The shop is tucked into a quiet strip mall but strategically placed near Capital City Mall, Trader Joe's, and more -- meaning it's almost too easy to "accidentally" stop in. Flavors change weekly, so there's always something new to try. We've had three now and still can't pick a favorite because they've all been stellar. Friendly staff, dangerously good cake, and a raffle for free Bundts (yes, we dropped our business cards in). We'll be back... probably every week.

Still a tasty treat. Wasn't sure if some wall art was strictly military honor or political statement however. Hopefully the prior. Despite any differences, good for small businesses not to ostracize potential customers (ie sales). A business displaying any direction they lean can dissuade many. So, we may be back if in that area and remember it. Worth a try for anyone who hadn't been yet. (May I suggest to this business, as I saw the owner/manager there, and to other small/mom n pop shops, that you get out to your customers as an owner/manager and talk to them. Make them feel welcome, like they are a special customer, part of your business, etc. It really works to pull in people and make them come back! A great great great marketing tool! Even if you're not a people person, say hello or welcome at the very least, and good bye/thank you for coming! Your food/product can be quite average and the interior not perfect, but making a customer feel really welcome is often the top key trick to their return again and again. In addition they be more likely to spread the word how much they like your business. It's the easiest, cheapest form of market too!)

I couldn't finish eating the mini pancakes. I was disappointed that they lacked that delicious Mexican vanilla flavor in the batter. I hope that they consider adding it and scale back on baking soda.
