When I saw PA Bakery advertising mini King Cakes for Mardi Gras, I was genuinely thrilled. A…read morereasonably sized King Cake felt like a dream come true -- all the fun of the tradition without committing to feeding an entire village. I immediately pre-ordered two mini King Cakes at $5.50 each (total $11), already imagining the moment I'd get to gloat when I found the hidden baby! The mini King Cakes were actually quite generous in size. Easily enough for 3-4 people...although I personally demolished mine in one sitting and have zero regrets. Now for the part that caught me off guard. The plastic baby -- arguably the entire point of a traditional King Cake -- was perched on top instead of hidden inside. I was fully anticipating that moment of excitement that comes from discovering the baby mid-bite, because that's kind of the magic of a King Cake tradition. Without that element, what I ended up with felt more like a very festive brioche-style cinnamon roll wearing Mardi Gras colors than a King Cake. To be clear, it tasted good. The cake itself was soft without being dry, had plenty of cinnamon-esque filling without tipping into overly gooey territory, and was generously finished with frosting and sugary crystals. Flavor-wise, no complaints. But if you're marketing something specifically as a King Cake, the expectation is that the baby is hidden within. Otherwise, it changes the experience entirely. For food safety purposes, there are plenty of creative alternatives -- an edible marzipan baby, a clearly oversized non-choking-hazard version, sticker on the box, etc. -- but the surprise element is part of what makes a King Cake a King Cake. Overall, not a bad experience -- just not quite the Mardi Gras moment I was hoping for. Next year, I'll probably seek out a bakery that leans into the full King Cake tradition...because if I'm chasing the thrill of finding a tiny plastic baby in my dessert, I want to earn that victory properly. If the baby isn't going in the cake, just let me know up front so I can manage my expectations (and my Mardi Gras excitement) accordingly.

I ordered the seasonal Berry Cobbler Smoothie, made with cranberries, blueberries, and strawberries blended with oat milk, then topped with maple syrup and granola. It was delicious and tasted just like the name suggests. As a workspace, this coffee shop checks all the boxes: Plenty of tables and seating Indoor and outdoor options Relaxed atmosphere Community bulletin board Great food and pastry selections What stood out most was how welcoming the staff were. From the moment I walked in, they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and appreciated. That level of hospitality can completely change an experience, and it certainly did for me. The highlight of my visit was a staff member named Sofia, who genuinely made my day. She went above and beyond to make my visit special, and her kindness was the cherry on top of an already great experience. If you're looking for a place to work remotely, enjoy a great smoothie, or simply spend time in a welcoming community space, Cornerstone Coffeehouse is well worth a visit. Sofia, you're the best

Moist, rich, and just sweet enough without tipping into sugar overload. We shared one for dessert, and it was the perfect size for two people who want to feel slightly virtuous about splitting dessert (don't worry, we still scraped the frosting off the container). The shop is tucked into a quiet strip mall but strategically placed near Capital City Mall, Trader Joe's, and more -- meaning it's almost too easy to "accidentally" stop in. Flavors change weekly, so there's always something new to try. We've had three now and still can't pick a favorite because they've all been stellar. Friendly staff, dangerously good cake, and a raffle for free Bundts (yes, we dropped our business cards in). We'll be back... probably every week.

Still a tasty treat. Wasn't sure if some wall art was strictly military honor or political statement however. Hopefully the prior. Despite any differences, good for small businesses not to ostracize potential customers (ie sales). A business displaying any direction they lean can dissuade many. So, we may be back if in that area and remember it. Worth a try for anyone who hadn't been yet. (May I suggest to this business, as I saw the owner/manager there, and to other small/mom n pop shops, that you get out to your customers as an owner/manager and talk to them. Make them feel welcome, like they are a special customer, part of your business, etc. It really works to pull in people and make them come back! A great great great marketing tool! Even if you're not a people person, say hello or welcome at the very least, and good bye/thank you for coming! Your food/product can be quite average and the interior not perfect, but making a customer feel really welcome is often the top key trick to their return again and again. In addition they be more likely to spread the word how much they like your business. It's the easiest, cheapest form of market too!)

The reason for the 3 stars is as follows: The pancake batter has too much baking soda. I got a taste without the Nutella and strawberry and I could taste the bitter baking soda in the background. I couldn't finish eating the mini pancakes. I was disappointed that they lacked that delicious Mexican vanilla flavor in the batter. I hope that they consider adding it and scale back on baking soda. I ordered two waffle sticks with dulce de leche and marzipan and strawberries. The sticks are about 4" long and 1.3" wide, each is $5.75 not worth the price. Ordered a Mexican hot dog and that was the best dog I've had in a while. It was a fair price for the size and toppings that comes with it. I'm not much for jalapeños but eaten all together it was amazing and not too spicy. It was like a pickle with a kick! This location was easy to find but the parking lot was mostly filled since there are a lot of other happening businesses on this strip mall. Yum Yum has a soft colored decore and it was very clean. Hope they make those small changes to the batter so I can go try those mini pancakes again, and give more stars.
