It is always a (guilty) pleasure to find a quality candy store. My stomach rumbles as I write this and think of the delights to be found at Macris Chocolates. This local shop is tucked away in tge West Shore Plaza shopping center in Lemoyne. Macris offers a sinful selection of hand-crafted chocolates to please any palate. The staff is extremely helpful and can assist you in finding that special treat or exploring something new. Curbside pickup is available and Macris takes COVID precautions seriously. Macris also offers (to the bane of my waistline) a selection of ice cream pints from Penn State's creamery. For this area this is the best chocolatier around. I love dark chocolate and they have a few of my favorites are hard to find anywhere else! My number one being Dark Chocolate Cover Orange Peels! They are pricey but make beautiful gifts. And if you are stopping in for a bite of ice cream or a quick fix you will not be disappointed. While my very good friend (who is a pastry chef in Charleston, SC) was visiting I brought her to try the chocolates. We ended up going 2 time on her visit! My husband ordered 1/2 dozen of semi chocolate covered strawberries and 1/2 dozen of dark chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's day 2023. The box and display were very pretty, the chocolate strawberries looked beautiful. The one and major problem is that the chocolate was so thick, on all except 3, that is was impossible to bite through. One of my girlfriends chipped her partial. Although sad and costly it was hilarious to her and the remaing three of us. An amazing interior that feels like a high end European chocolatier. Classy, clean, and everything set properly with nothing seeming to be out of place. They've created a pleasant shopping experience. The staff was friendly and immediately assisted to introduce me to the various sweet products and make suggestions. Their was an assortment of seasonal Easter form chocolates, though limited to mainly a few shapes of bunnies, a few religious others, and the fondant/peanut butter filled chocolate eggs. Included as well were their regular chocolate bars, variety of small creams/nuts/flavored pieces, and other specialties. Something for everyone in dark, milk, white chocolates. The various items we purchased were all smooth, rich and flavorful. Enjoyed the sweets but have to consider the higher cost the next time stopping in here. Chocolates are delicious, the inside is beautiful. HOWEVER, my two star review comes from the most IGNORANT, unfriendly staff I've ever encountered at a store. I walked in today and neither of the two people said hi. Not even a peep. Complete silence. I'm browsing over the little chocolates and the girl behind the counter just turns and stares at me. One of my favorite chocolate shops in the Camp Hill/Lemoyne area. They always have a huge assortment of chocolates in their showcase that you can pay by the lb for with no limit on how many you can pick. I especially love their cappuccino meltaways in both dark and milk chocolate, but honestly it's hard to pick a favorite. One of the differences I have noticed from other chocolates is their dark chocolate is a tad bit on the sweeter side compared to other dark chocolates, but is still incredibly delicious. I prefer these dark chocolates over most other dark chocolates, which says a lot since dark chocolate isn't my personal favorite. Definitely give their jam filled chocolates a try too - my personal favorite is the blueberry. The jam is incredibly fruity and melts away with the chocolate once you take a bite - very interesting and something I haven't seen all that often at other chocolate shops. A huge plus is they also sell Penn State creamery ice cream - some of the best ice cream I've ever had, but that's for another review. read more

This is my splurge on self. The chocolate is creamy and all the products are fresh. The store is inviting. My children love coming to Macris for the Penn State Creamy ice cream. I was at Macris for their Easter open house. It was lovely - complete a violinist. I purchased Easter chocolates and some nostalgic items for my children's Easter baskets - hopscotch set and whopper cushion to name a few. read more

After a frustrating traffic jam in Harrisburg caused me to be lost and feeling mildly full of driving rage, I decided it was time to stop driving. I was in Lemoyne and had no idea what was there. I saw the sign for Macris Chocolates and on a whim, I went inside. WOW WOW WOW. They make their own fillings. They had the puffiest dried apricots dipped in chocolate that I had ever seen. The meltaways were in a case. The nuts in another. Dark chocolate and milk chocolate. For me, the stars were the fruit jellies and the chocolate covered cherries. I took two small boxes home and multiple family members were as impressed as I was. My mom specifically said "you can get me a box of this stuff for my birthday." Stopped in quickly to Macris last night while running errands, amidst the throes of a massive chocolate craving (they happen more often than I like to admit). All I can say is thank you, cravings (for once!), as this time, you've taken me to a great place! I am a picky, picky person when it comes to my food - especially sweets. Most of the time, I stay away from most chocolate "chains" (a la Gertrude Hawk, Hershey), as the product can feel somewhat... how to put this...? Blah. Soulless. Mass-produced. Concocted with an element of MACHINERY instead of personal touches and care. And quite honestly, if I'm going to be budgeting the amount of calories necessary for a little slice of happiness, I want to make sure those calories are well spent. Enter Macris Chocolates, a delightful little store with an elegant floor plan/color scheme, product galore, and friendly shop folk. No strikes yet, so how does the product actually taste? O.... M.... G. Upon informing the woman helping me that it was my first time into their store, she cheerfully inquired whether or not I would like to try a sample? And not just a "here, let me slice a corner of this bon-bon for you," but a full-fledged PIECE of what I wanted to try. This is called a WIN, folks. I sampled their dark chocolate-covered candied orange peel, and, as soon as my eyes ceased rolling back into my skull with pleasure, I ordered up a sampler box full of cacao-encased happiness: dark chocolate-covered dates, pineapple, ginger, the aforementioned orange peel, and also a tender milk-chocolate coated slab of apricot (see? If you get all fruit, you don't feel so guilty, right?). Rationalization aside, it wouldn't have mattered if they coated cardboard in their chocolate, Macris somehow manages to pull off the (difficult) hat trick of making their dark formula well-balanced (not too bitter or too mild, it perfectly complemented the fruit flavors), while making their milk chocolate sumptuous and creamy. This is the kind of craftsmanship that the large chains tend to miss, but Macris has nailed their recipe. My only regret is that I stopped myself at a half-pound box of the fruit and a package of their butter mints (another hard-to-find favorite that's rarely done right), which were creamy and well-balanced, not chalky or too heavy-handed on the peppermint oil. To gild the lily, I also requested a sample of their milk chocolate-coated potato chips before ringing up my purchase. Quirky yet delicious, I can't wait to return and buy these as a stocking stuffer this month for my boyfriend - they're his favorite, and usually impossible to find. I left the store on a definite high note (sugar high or otherwise... hard to tell). I fully plan to re-visit the store for Christmas gifts, or futurke tokens of thanks for colleagues and clients. There is an edge of classiness and personality to this establishment that tends to be lacking from our area. My hopes are that Macris Chocolates sticks around for many years to come! I heard that Macris Chocolates sells PennState Ice cream. Being a big fan of PennState creamery and living 1 hour away, I thought of getting my ice cream fix from Macris. Very expensive fix it is. Besides the cost, they have these poor quality plastic containers to take home. I bought two flavors. When I reached home, one of the containers had a crack down the side. I'm sure when she was trying to force in the ice cream, the container broke. If we complaint about it, I'm sure they'll just increase the price more and give fancier containers! I've not tried any of their chocolates, so cannot comment on that. Well, next time, I'll wait for visit to the creamery! read more

All Brides....check out there wedding favors. I decided to go with the s'mores bar and I'm so glad that I did. The chocolate was amazing. Presentation was something right out off Pintrist. Located towards one end of the West Shore Lemoyne Plaza, this store makes the most amazing chocolate assortments. It has a beautiful interior and the staff is as friendly and sweet s the chocolates themselves.. You can buy boxed chocolates, custom gift baskets or chocolate by the pound which sells at $22.00/lb. Store has many seasonal decorations - nowadays valentine themed boxes were available. Asked the staff and was told that the chocolate shelf life is about 3 months - they make these somewhere in north of Pittsburgh and then get regular deliveries to this store depending on the demand and season. Love their croquettes, nougats and the marshmallow ones! Also have some of the flavors of the famous Penn State icecream - a little pricey but still a good option if you're really craving for it. This is a beautiful store, and the customer service is on point! However, the last few times we stopped in with an intense chocolate craving, we were disappointed :( Last week we bought 4 chocolates for 5 dollars-- The chocolate tasted a little old and the walnut cluster I ordered was for sure stale. It didn't taste of walnut at all. I was bummed for sure, and they are pricey. The blueberry jelly was fun, but the peanut butter meltaway was somewhat grittier than we liked. The coconut cluster was super stale, it was dry and crumbly. It is the cutest place, but for 5 dollars we basically got one edible chocolate. I may or may not try one more time, but I am somewhat tainted now because last time my chocolates also tasted stale. read more

Such a gorgeous chocolate shop! I walked in on a drizzly afternoon and was greeted warmly. The store is bright and clean and well decorated. They allow you to sample anything on your first time so I happily tried a dark chocolate mint truffle. It was so decadent I had to have some coffee. Luckily, they sell coffee too. They use a local roaster from Carlisle (Denim Coffee - Very good) and they have a little coffee bar set up to add whatever you need to your brew. There are even little tables and chairs to sit and enjoy if you want to. They chocolate is pricey ($22/lb) However, they let you buy as little or as much as you want. So I filled a half pound box with the pieces I wanted to try and plan to have a piece here, a piece there, and make it last. The chocolates are hand made and the fillings too. That makes it worth it to me. They also sell gift sets and are willing to customize anything you need for an upcoming event. The valentine's packages they had for kids were adorable! So I walked out the door spending $17, but that was a box of chocolate (about 16 pieces), a cup of coffee, a pack of rootbeer candy, a chocolate "6" for my son's upcoming birthday, and a satisfied feeling from that one piece of chocolate I enjoyed. I recently learned about this new business and stopped in today to check it out. First, I liked the decor - Elena has done a wonderful job with product placement, variety of chocolates, and seasonal decorations. Second, Elena herself, is a very nice person, even offering a sample of her signature chocolate. Third, her chocolates are delicious, as evidenced by me buying several to take home to enjoy later. BTW, the chocolates are made by Philadelphia Candies, her family's business in the Pittsburgh area. Overall, this place is unique for central PA and I wish Elena great success! This place is a great find on the west shore. I'm a bit picky about desserts and chocolates, but am pleased with the quality of chocolate at Macris. The staff are also extremely helpful -- haven't had a bad experience. Most of the chocolates are purchased by weight, so picking and choosing options is not a problem. I have been in several times and today, yet again, I was met with very unfriendly customer service. The place is absolutely beautiful but I really wish they would hire some more welcoming employees. My husband was taking me out for a date and we found this amazing place. He insisted on trying one of everything after seeing the display case and that's what we did. It was about $45 for a handpicked variety box weighing about 2lbs. The clerk/chef was very helpful and patient. Their candies are amazing and I have never had a better dark chocolate! Excellent classy place. About 22 a pound for classic and unusual chocolates..marzipan, blueberry jellied, pretzels, lots of nuts, milk and dark, etc. We got 12 pieces for about 10 bucks. Would be a great place to buy a special sweet gift for someone. I'll try some ice cream next time! read more

I have shopped at Macris many times for beautiful gifts of chocolate. Their chocolates are delicious. Much of the positive experience of shopping there is the lovely decor and peaceful atmosphere. However, 2 things significantly detract from that feeling. First, after selecting and paying for the beautiful items, the purchases are placed in what is basically a lunch bag or grocery bag, What a let down. I realize one can purchase gift bags, put being handed a lunch bag after spending a substantial sum for e few small gifts if hugely disappointing. Second, yesterday when I stepped into the store, I was asked, "would you like a cup of coffee?" to which I answered yes that would be very nice. Of course I felt as though they were welcoming me and treating me as a guest. To my shock, when I paid for my purchases I was charged for the coffee! How very rude, and again a detraction for what could be a delightful shopping experience. I hope that both of these things will be remedied as now I associate these disappointments with the store. read more
