(I tried a mango one myself which was beautifully painted and bursting with flavor; my husband loved his peruvian dark chocolate one). When I stopped by, the owner graciously walked me through the store, explaining the different chocolate options (they also have ice cream and macaroons). The interior was immaculate and they actively make chocolate in the back! He also mentioned on Saturday mornings (just the one day of the week) he bakes fresh pastries -- so of course I had to come back. Let me tell you, THE PASTRIES ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Don't be deceived by the name -- Frederic Loraschi doesn't just do chocolate (although those are incredible) -- the butter croissant was the best croissant I've ever had, period. Truly impressive for Harrisburg!!! You'd think you stepped into a bakery in France. I also loved the little tomato pie with herbs -- the goat cheese flavor was also perfect. I would highly highly recommend these! They sell out quick (we went around 9-9:30am and almost all of the croissants had gone -- the chocolate and ham/cheese croissants already were sold out, as were many of the other pastries in the case). The first butter croissant we tried was so amazing that we turned around and went and bought 3 more. What a truly amazing gem!

Incredibly Delicious!…read more This review is for their food truck, which recently visited our development on a Sunday morning. First, I thought it was a great idea to have a food truck on a weekend morning, because you can tap into a different group of patrons than on a Friday night. Service was spot on with each type of croissant and food item was explained (with pride) to me while trying to choose. On this visit we sampled the ham and cheese croissant, the apple croissant, and the savory bread pudding. Everything was delicious! The croissants were some of the best ones my wife and I have eaten. So much so we contemplated walking back to the truck for seconds. If you see their food truck stop and you will not be disappointed! We are looking forward to visiting the shop and trying some of their specialty chocolates!

I discovered it thanks to their Harvest Party over Labor Day weekend: $42 for live acoustic music, endless wood-fired pizza by Perry Pizza Co., a grand dessert display with seasonal fruits and chocolate fondue, custom-made maple ice cream, complimentary beer and wine, lawn games, laid-back backyard vibes, a sneak peek at their fall chocolate collection, AND an exclusive caramel apple favor to take home. Um...shut up and take my money. I was so in. The shop itself is gorgeous. The historic stone house has been beautifully redone--warm, inviting, elegant but simple--designed to put all the focus (and all the scent!) on the chocolate. Behind the glass cases? Endless chocolate delights. Freezer? Penn State Creamery ice cream (apparently the only vendor on the West Shore). Shelves? A foodie's dream: teas, jams, jellies, spices, trays, utensils--you name it. One of the biggest highlights for me: their sugar-free selection. Coconut clusters, vanilla marshmallow, peanut butter, caramel, butter creams, cordial cherries, peppermint patties...the works. For anyone looking for sugar-free sweets locally, this is gold. The Harvest Party itself was fantastic--wood-fired pizza, hummus, chocolate-fondue-covered desserts, and the star of the show: exclusive Maple Cream Ice Cream by Urban Churn. Sweet, rich maple flavor that made an 80° summer day feel like fall had arrived early. Then came the chocolate caramel apples. Huge. Heavy. Chocolate bliss in every bite. Their website says, "105 years and three generations of small family business and chocolate expertise." And after this experience, I believe it. Beautiful shop, incredible chocolates, and one hell of a party. Bonus points: plenty of parking (thanks to the shared strip mall lot), pristine bathrooms, and a beautifully maintained property. Prices are what you'd expect from a family-owned chocolate shop (about $16 for a 9-piece sampler), and worth every penny for the quality. Now that I know Macris Chocolate exists, I'll be back--often. Can't wait to see what kind of magic they whip up for the holidays!
