Really grateful to have found Diaperkind in 2021 when our first kid was born. We've been using their diapers and the drop-up pick-up service for the past almost 5 years as our first aged out and our second was born. It's great to have an option to not use disposable diapers constantly. We kept up with changing the filters and deodorant disks in the diaper pail and it never smelled bad. The pick up service is super convenient and the cloth diapering is easy once you get the hang of it. Luckily, there are MANY opportunities to get good at it, ha! I absolutely adore DiaperKind. They made cloth diapering super easy and were always available for questions via email. As a single parent I found cloth diapering not only feasible, but enjoyable. It is slightly more expensive than disposables but totally worth the peace of mind for the planet and my baby's bottom (they really breathe and I didn't deal with any rash or irritations ever). Also, it was so nice to use the diapers and wipes for spit up, changing pads, a flat absorbent surface for naked time, napkins, tissues, and just everything baby (and sometimes me), and then to pass the laundry off to someone else. The only reason I'm stopping the service is because I was out-of-town for a few months (only paid $10 a week to rent the diapers) and realized that after the newborn stage washing myself was not so daunting (and with a baby on the move a different style of diaper was helpful for high energy times). When I was expecting my first baby, I went to their workshop on cloth diapering and it helped give me the preparation I needed in order to cloth diaper my baby from birth up until potty training. My son's skin was very sensitive as a newborn, excema, rashes, etc. The staff was knowledgeable and helped me troubleshoot any diapering issues and supplied us with creams that helped and were safe. Diaperkind is an AMAZING business! Sarah and Liz are doing a FANTASTIC job! I was so impressed from the start when I attended one of the monthly "orientations" they offer. It allowed me to become familiar with the whole world of cloth diapering (which is quite a big deal....but you should know that if you're looking into CD'ing). Their customer service has been spot on. Something happened with our drop-off/pick up one night and they communicated with us immediately to make sure we got our diapers asap. WE LOVE DIAPERKIND! We started cloth diapering when our son was born and justended our service after potty training him a couple of weeks after he turned 2. The entire experience with Diaperkind was easy and pleasant. Cloth diapers are not difficult. They offer classes, but I figured everybody used cloth diapers for thousands of years and it can't be that difficult. I watched the 2-min instructional video a couple of times and that was enough. There are tips on their website, too. I rarely had to interact with Diaperkind -- setting out the old diapers and getting the new diapers back once a week is easy -- but Diaperkind was very responsive whenever I did contact them. Changing sizes or pausing delivery when on vacation is all done on the website with a few clicks. The best part is keeping several thousand diapers out of a landfill for almost no extra effort compared to disposables. Cloth is probably a little cheaper, too. Finally, both my kids were toilet trained, daytime and nighttime, in under a week at 18 months. I think that wearing cloth diapers made them a lot more aware of things and made it relatively easy to start training early. We just ended our 2.5 year service with DK, as our toddler is potty trained. They are absolutely amazing! Not only are the people incredibly helpful, responsive, and accommodating. But the service itself is fantastic. The diapers are of the highest quality and cleanliness is unbelievable. Diaper pick up is incredibly easy and very reliable. My partner and I both work full-time and travel quite a bit. He was not so excited about cloth diapers, but I was determined to find a way to make it work. We both attribute our success with diapering to DK's amazing service! For those who are considering cloth for the first time, it's very doable and easy with DK's help! We honestly find them easier than disposables, which we tend to use when we're out of town. It takes about 10 more secs/diaper change, but we almost never needed any diaper creams because she never had diaper rash, and had less laundry because there were less leaks/overflows. plus we didn't have tons of stinky trash laying around! Even our daycare was impressed by the quality of the diapers and ease of the service. There was a miscommunication initially and they were not prepared for cloth diapers, but they learned them right away and it was no problem at all. My name is Benjamin Kintisch, and I'm a happy customer since the birth of my daughter Dalia Jean Kintisch December of 2010. The diapers are easy, environmentally friendly, and good for my baby's skin. Whenver we need to briefly switch to disposables from the cloth diapers, we see Dalia's skin situation worsen, including redness, "wrinkly" skin, and occasionally rashing. Plus, we find those weird chemical granules in and amongst Dalia's little folds. This concernss us. With cloth diapers, Dalia lets us know when she's wet or dirty, we switch her diaper and wipe her up as needed. This way she stays healthy and happy. We have been using Diaperkind's cloth service since our baby's birth 6 months ago. We took the diaper 101 class, which is 100% worth the fee. We knew we wanted to do cloth diapers, but we really didn't know that much about them, and the class really showed us how easy it was, and how we didn't have anything to be afraid of. We had a lot of people give us gift certificates for Diaperkind which was really great. We used the service for 6 months, and it has been amazing. Just one less thing to worry about in the early challenging months. You put your dirty diapers in the pail, and leave it in the drop off spot, then every week you get clean new diapers. I haven't even started the service yet and I am already in love with DiaperKind. I went to the class a few weeks ago, and was amazed. Liz, the owner and instructor, gave us all the facts about cloth diapering at home v. the DiaperKind service v. using disposables, and which options were best based on your situation. It was all very nonjudgemental, I didn't feel pressured to go in either direction. Instead, I felt like I could really trust DiaperKind to put my baby first. I feel like there are so many decisions to make when you are having your first baby, it's overwhelming. What I appreciate about DiaperKind is that they have done a ton of research, and made of ton of hard decisions for me already. Where baby products have failed, they have designed new ones! The other day I got a bunch of baby powder as a gift... and I was like hmmmm.... I bet there is a reason why DiaperKind doesn't sell this. I looked it up, and baby powder can cause asthma and is not recommended at all for newborns! That savvy and expertise, combined with the benefits of cloth diapering (less diaper rashes, potty training a year earlier on average, and no poopy blowouts) make this an obvious choice for me. read more

Cloth diapering with Diaperkind is one of the best decisions I've made, as a new parent. It's so easy! Once a week, the clean set is delivered, and the dirties are picked up. It also cost less than disposable diapers. As someone else mentioned, the diaper pails do not stink! This business is local and female-owned. Sarah and Liz are fast to respond to any questions or concerns. Excellent customer service. Their website sells all kinds of products and accessories (diaper covers, soaps, ect..), which can be delivered to you with your weekly drop-off. We use olive oil on baby's booty, and cloth diapers, and her skin looks great! Plus, diaper covers can be so cute! My favorite are Imse Vimse (cotton covers from Sweden, available through Diaperkind), and for fun patterns Rock-A-Bye Booty. I got some cute wet bags (to store the dirty diapers while when we're not at home) on Etsy, although these are also available from Diaperkind. With a diaper service available, there is no reason not to cloth diaper. It's better for baby, better for the planet, and easier on your wallet. We are just ending our nearly two year run with Diaperkind. We began on day one with them (thankful that this Brooklyn business also works in Queens), took a few months break where I thought I would launder them myself only to realize how much angst that could build up in me in the summer months :), and went right back to DK once that simple revelation hit me. Instead of having a baby shower/registry (cause who needs all that stuff in a small nyc apartment!), we asked anyone who was interested in getting us a gift to gift us a Diaperkind gift certificate. We got nearly 6 months worth of cloth diapering out of that idea! Having laundered at home vs sending out to the service - it can save money - but trying to get it right can be such trial and error, and having to launder more often that the service does - just wasn't worth it for me. i tried both a hand machine and spin dryer at home and by doing at the laundromat - neither did the trick consistently and I was so glad to send my diapers back to the service when I gave up. What I have loved the most (besides all the perks of cloth diapering), has been the incredible business that is Diaperkind. Questions and concerns are answered promptly, the website is easy to use and a source of info and great supplemental supplies, and I am always talking to a person who is friendly, real, and in my city. They expanded their service area to Hoboken/Jersey City just in time for my daughter's arrival. At that time (and maybe still?) they were the only diaper service available in the area. My experience was such a positive one. I used flats in the beginning and switched to fitteds for the last 6 months or so. Both are great options. The staff was always super responsive and helpful. It was so apparent that they are passionate about the business. They were advisers every step of the way through starting solids, extra protection overnight, long weekend trips, home laundering (in a pinch) and more. I can't recommend them enough. When Liz from DiaperKind came to give the presentation on cloth diapering at Caribou Baby last year I was like "Whatever, hippie lady. Who can afford this?" but I held on to their card anyway. As my pregnancy progressed, I began to look into the benefits of cloth diapering further and started to crunch the numbers and figured, "What the hey? Let's give it a whirl!" We are five weeks into CDing with DiaperKind and we are utter converts. The few times we've had to use disposables, we've been like "Ugh, thank God for cloth, que viva DiaperKind!" Delivery has been reliable every week and Liz, Sarah and the crew have been incredibly responsive and open to all my little quibbles and suggestions. My only minor complaint is that I wish they had a better more easy to navigate website and maybe also that they facilitate some sort of forum for their customers since it'd be great to share resources and best practices with the larger community. After seven-and-a-half month or so of weekly, horrifically messy diaper blow outs, I was almost at my wits end. We had tried Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, Babies R Us and Kirkland brand diapers, and somehow poop was still managing to get out of those diapers, leak through my baby's clothes, and on to whomever was holding her, or the stroller, or the car seat that she was sitting in. So, I went to the internet and started researching and kept getting the same answer -- cloth was the way to go. Still, it sounded messy and daunting. I found a local company (Diaperkind) that taught Cloth Diapering 101 classes, and I figured I'd go and keep an open mind. The class was super informative, and I left thinking that I could give their weekly diaper service a go, and if it didn't work out, it wasn't like I had spent a ton of money on diapers and covers (of which there are many, many different brands and options), and I could just cancel it and keep doing what I was doing. My daughter is 14-months old now, and we haven't had a single blow out since. And on top of that, no diaper rashes, either. I am 110% a cloth-diaper-convert. I don't want to be "that parent," BUT I want to talk to everyone I know and sell them on how amazing cloth diapering (and especially Diaperkind's service) is. We have access to a washer and dryer in our building, so as much as I love Diaperkind, and as convenient as their service is (so, so, so convenient and wonderful to never have to make a late night run to the drug store for some overpriced diapers, but instead have clean, white, wonderfully smelling cloth diaper prefolds delivered to your doorstep once a week), it makes sense for us to save a little bit of money and switch over to laundering them ourselves. Still... even though it made sense on paper, I was slightly nervous about actually having to wash them myself, especially when there's so much conflicting information on what to do out on the internet (like no dryer sheets, Ev3R1!1!! If you have shared laundry facilities, you have to thoroughly clean and disinfect every single dryer that may have ever possibly had a dryer sheet near it! And don't even dry your diapers ever! And don't use this detergent! Or that detergent! Or wash diapers on a full moon. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea). I reached out to Diaperkind, and I said I was thinking about making the switch, but I was nervous, and you know what they did? They invited me to come and speak to them in person. I was expecting a hard sell on why I should keep using their service, but instead I left with two samples of cloth diaper prefolds, a card with easy-to-read instructions on how to launder them myself, AND a huge sample of their new washing powder. I was given a pep talk on how I could do this, told if I had any questions I could always reach out, and left feeling like, heck yeah, I can! Thank you so much, Diaperkind. It was super easy to put our soiled diapers out once a week and receive new ones.
