We stopped in late last Saturday morning on the recommendation of our cabinet maker. I was very disappointed that, although the sign on the door clearly states that anyone entering must be wearing a mask, the red-headed woman that initially helped us didn't wear one at all, and the second woman who assisted us with a product quote kept hers under her nose the whole time. The second woman escorted us around the showroom to help us find a match for something we already liked. She priced out a Hanstone countertop with 2 separate measurements (with and without a separate breakfast bar) and the estimates were $2600 more than one we got from ProSource for the exact same material and the quote for turnaround time was 2 weeks longer. While we appreciated the very quick estimate (we did have to wait a few days for ProSource), it was really not worth the trip out to Portsmouth for us. They also don't carry anything other than stainless sinks, which was unfortunate. Given their inability to adhere to their own protocols and their exorbitant pricing, we will not be patronizing Superior Marble & Stone.

Once he completed measuring, he talked us through various product options and suggested laminate vinyl plank as a great choice. Lifetime residential warranty, waterproof, scratch resistant and affordable. Those were the exact qualities my wife and I were looking for in our new floors. Thomas showed us a video of the flooring system that they just completed in a multi-million dollar home and I'd have to say, they looked phenomenal. We received our estimate the very next day and decided to move forward with project. The install team was great and completed our job in a day and minimized their footprint in my home. Altogether we contacted 6 hardwood flooring business's in Virginia Beach regarding refinishing our…read morehardwood floors. Two were unresponsive, one failed to perform and was fired. Three others all provided estimates the same day we contacted them. Of those three we chose A&B Floors: * A&B surveyed the project (living room, stairs & hallway) the same day we contacted them. * Provided a detailed written estimate via email the same day we contacted them. * Responded to our questions quickly and in writing via email. * Started our project 1 day after we accepted their estimate. * No deposit required. * A&B refinishing crew showed up as scheduled and on-time. * The A&B crew were polite and courteous and mindful of our home and contents. * Removed and disposed of carpet and padding as promised the same day it was pulled up. * Main sanding effort was kept virtually dust free with industrial strength vacuums. Plastic sheeting placed over openings. There was some very light dust when doing fine sanding close to the baseboards and between stair balusters. * The crew was very careful to clean up all debris. * A gap in the flooring discovered when the carpeting was removed was repaired at minimal additional cost. Repair was seamless. * We chose to use low odor, fast drying water-based stain & finish vice petroleum-based products and are very pleased with the results * A&B replaced quarter-round and thresholds with new oak trim stained to match the floor. * Start to finish the project took about 4 days. * The final result was everything we had hoped for at a cost several hundreds of dollars less than the competition. The company has done many Homearama decks, which I'm very familiar with since one backed up to my backyard. Sigh.......wasn't a fun experience. After viewing the company's work online I decided to call for an estimate. Glenn came promptly & we addressed my desires for the deck materials, design & need for a prompt completion. I received an estimate & layout drawing promptly. The pricing was ballpark for what I had been expecting for the deck materials I wanted. There could be no more wooden decks for me. My back yard faces the north, about a mile from the Chesapeake Bay. The salt air corrosion in the strong winds from the Bay destroys everything metal & wooden on the back side of the house. I didn't choose Decked Out for a number of reasons. The company I chose could do all my interior work. Not having to do business with multiple contractors was a big plus. The company I chose brought samples & boards so I could choose the exact coloring for both the deck & the rails. Glenn's estimate said that samples would be provided upon request. The estimate I chose included deck rail lighting so my dogs could see better when they go out at night. They let me be more inclusive in the deck & steps design. None of the reasons for my choice should be taken as my not being convinced that Decked Out Builders is a premier deck builder in Coastal Virginia. They are. My desire for more input & interior renovation needs were the reason for my choice. Thank you Glenn for your prompt response, estimate & layout. My husband and I went in person to Floor Trader and chose our samples and what we got vs what we chose is completely different! At the very least so no other person is in the same circumstance that I find myself in, the company should discard that "sample" of the floors that were in the showroom. How is your company and also the manufacturer okay with me just simply hating my floors? This was supposed to be a lovely experience and between Floor Trader (Andrew you were actually very nice and helpful) and my incompetent contractors, this was a terrible experience and I would not recommended doing business with anyone involved in the future. I am aware that Floor Trader is just the supplier and not the manufacturer but they were no help at all when I voiced my concerns and now I'm just stuck with floors that I truly detest.
