I'd give this 4.5 stars! I was absolutely shocked. The outside doesn't do it justice. I'd have driven right by it if someone hadn't of mentioned it. An actual sushi bar inside along with a regular bar. Actual good beer & a perfect variety at that. Local & NC beers. Pleasant bartender and good drinks. Hush puppies were great! Seafood/catch of the day was perfectly cooked. Rack of ribs was great. Sushi was awesome. Let's make this review short- we came back two days in a row! Not a complaint in the world. Portions are large and I'd suggest getting something and the rest of your party getting something else and share/pass the plate around. Great for a family, date night, girls night out! Intimate yet casual and cozy. They also have grab and go items to take to the beach which would be super convenient!

There's not many places to get sushi in Buxton, I was surprised with how fresh and flavorful their rolls were!

Driving by, read the sign that says voted #1 chowder. Pulled up and ordered to go. Best decision!

Our hotel is just down the street so we thought we'd give it a try. Parking is available in front and on the side. Kudos - there is coke zero for those of us who prefer coke zero products. After being seated, our server delivered our warm hush puppies. Menu is extensive spanning 3 full pages. Special fish options are on chalk boards strategically around the restaurant. Not having the appetite I used to have, chose salad bar and fried calamari which was actually an appetizer. If you like tentacles, order this dish. SO ordered med rare blackened tuna with a baked sweet potato and veggies (green beans). Salad bar was fresh. The only item that was out at the time was croutons. There was 6 options of salad dressings. Nice. Ambiance is very coastal. Yes, bring it on. There's a room divider with so many fish jig-sawed into it. Lovely. Missed the bar when being seated because I am a shell collector. You can never have enough shells. And because Chloe saw me writing my review, she brought me a sand dollar. Life is good. And oh, so is the food.

We go above and beyond to meet our responsibilities and be courteous to the business and general public, we only ask that our rights respected in return. When education is the issue we carry the laws that explain their rights and responsibilities as well as ours and willing to educate. That was clearly not enough. The moment we entered the door the gentleman behind the counter made it clear he did not care what the laws are or how clean and professional the service K9 was and ordered us out of the store which is a Civil rights violation. Personally this is an insult. I am disabled and entirely dependent on my medical and mobility trained K9 because I serviced this country. I have every legal right to be where everyone else is allowed but illegally denied it. These laws are sadly not enforced but regardless I'll be filing a report with ADA and DOJ. https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/ It's impossible to argue that my dogs are service dogs. Thought we wanted grouper but tried Tile fish at the recommendation of the gentleman behind the counter and now can't wait to eat it again. The fish was fresh, shrimp were sweet and briny. Service was friendly and helpful. They have potatoes, veggies and other seafood supplies. Stop in for seafood if you are in the area!

Cockeyed Clam - This banana pudding was different than most we've had - thick, creamy, and ours was full of vanilla wafer and banana cream. Delicious!

The Cockeyed Clam was a mixed bag of good and bad menu items…read more The fried clam strips were chewy as well as having the batter being burnt. Had the platter with fish of the day, shrimp, crab cakes, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. The fish with the Parmesan encrusted top was delicious, adding a strong flavor that complemented the fish. However, the underside of the fish didn't have any of that flavor and was under salted as well as being a tad overcooked. The broccolini was cooked well enough but ended up being flavorless due to no seasoning or salt added. The shrimp were okay, not super well seasoned but not super lacking. The crab cake was fairly loosely packed, little char on top. Not super flavorful. Mashed potatoes were good, well seasoned and creamy. The fried seafood items had a nice light batter and wasn't too oily. The hush puppies were a highlight of the meal. They were dense with a hard exterior but not too dry on the inside. The cornbread flavor held strong in the hush puppy and wasn't too greasy. The French fries were abysmal. No salt, no crispness, and terrible texture. Pickled beets added a nice sweetness to the meal. The main highlights were the desserts. The chocolate pecan pie a la mode was delicious as well as the key lime pie. Our server was great and sweet. While most of the food is not terrible, it's not going to impress much either.
