I paid $70 for a manicure and pedicure for my wedding day. I asked for a specific polish on my hands, pink and white glitter, about 4 times, got charged for it . I STILL ended up with plain white tips. I got rushed out of my spa chair before my toes dried and ended up with smeared polish and got an attitude when I asked for it to be fixed. There's a random blue hunk of something in my pinky nail. My nails are crooked. and my pinky finger was cut by the tech asshe rushed so she couldgo sit in a circle and chat with all the other girls.. The floors were really dirty and the place looked dusty and unkept overall. There was McDonalds food all over the work stations. The tables were dirty. Just seemed like they couldn't care less. I've heard horror stories in the past about nail salons, but never thought it would happen to me. I understand mistakes happen, but after the way I was treated after politely addressing this with them, I will never be supporting this business again. I went to Diamond Nails in valpo to get my nails done for a special occasion. Not only did they laugh at me the whole time for the nails I asked for, but damaged my real nails to the point where they cracked open. I went back in pain to get them removed and soon after it became infected. I spent money and time at the doctor to treat it. I have a high pain tolerance but it has been miserable to go about my daily routine. I came to them kindly asking for a refund showing my receipts from the doctor's office and was immediately attacked and interrogated by the woman inside. Instead of apologizing to me and showing any kind of remorse, she asked me a million questions and turned the blame on me. I went in for a quick pedi. The instructed me to a chair, then they filled the tank and there were toe nail clippings floating in the water... Moved to the next chair and the was lots of debris and crud floating in the water.... never again will I go there. read more

I went in yesterday to get artificial nails put on. I was wanting gel nails and they recommended pink and white which was $45.00 so I decided to try it. Well turns out the "gel" didn't seem any different than the acrylic. It's the powder just like acrylic. My nail tech was Wendy and she was very sweet and personable but she did a HORRIBLE job on my nails. They were so thick and very wide. I've never seen nails look so bad. I paid the $45.00 which was way overpriced and I even tipped her since she was very nice but I ended up going to a different nail salon to have them fixed which cost me another $10.00. I will never go back to this salon. Waste of money. read more

I'm a loyal diamond nails customer, starting with their Highland/Schererville location in 2009. Nancy in Highland is absolutely wonderful. However, I moved from Crown Point to Valparaiso, and at my first visit to the Valpo location when requesting a "difficult" glitter polish for my manicure, was told by a female staff member they were out of said color. A male staff member then needed the swatches and asked me which color i wanted so he could get it and take the swatches for another customer, and low and behold they had multiples of that color. Upon discovering the male had given me the requested color, the female refused to do my manicure in that color, and so the male was forced to. I chalked it up to a rude employee and let it go. That was until yesterday. My service was horrendous. I had Linh, and I will make it a point to never, ever, ever go to her again. She was absolutely terrible. She didn't even look at my nails as she was mutilating them with the cuticle pusher. And then when it came time to trim my cuticles I ended up with blood on 7/10 nails. I get my nails done regularly, so it was not because there was a lot to cut through. She got snotty because I asked her to file them into square tips, and later asked her to cut one nail that was noticeably longer than the others. She kept saying "Are you gonna change your mind again?" as if I had her redo an entire paint job or something. She was clearly annoyed that I was even there, and told me more than 3 times that I needed to get my eyebrows done. I pay to have them done by an esthetician, not a nail tech, and her rudely pressuring me to let her ruin more than my nails was quite insulting. She asked if I was paying with cash or my card, and when I said cash the price immediately jumped from $30 to $45. I've gotten no-chip manicures for long enough to not be fooled, but she insisted I had agreed to the $45, which I had not. I assumed she was going to pocket the extra in addition to the tip she didn't feel she had to work for, so after she (again) rudely demanded I pay the $45, I did, but with my card to prevent her from pocketing the cash. For the first time in my entire 23 years of life, I did not tip someone who provided me a (terrible, terrible) service. She did not bother with the hand massage portion of the manicure, and seemed to enjoy mangling my nail beds. 24 hours later I have a chipped nail, even though the other dozens of no-chip manicures I've gotten have lasted no less than 2 weeks. I will still go to Diamond Nails, but I will go to the one in Highland, or only allow Max to do my nails in Valpo, since he actually seems to care about the end result. Linh was rude, rushed, and condescending. I'm very disappointed and insulted at how unimportant quality and customer service was. The salon was not busy, I was trying to be perfectly friendly, and instead was met with annoyance. I made a yelp account after years of lurking just to write this review, and I'm pretty lazy so following through with this exemplifies the hugeness of this problem. First time at this particular salon. I was rushed in, pretty much told to hurry up and pick a color. During my pedicure (which is supposed to be relaxing) the woman kept insisting that I upgrade to a "No Chip" manicure. I insistently said, "No." My pedicure lasted maybe 10 minutes and I did upgrade to a more expensive pedicure. Further, the woman cut in too deep into the skin around my toes. One of them started bleeding and when I said, "OW!" She laughed and said, "Oh, you're sensitive." Um, no! You cut into my toe! Moving on to the manicure. Worst I've ever had. Afterward, when I put my hands under the dryer, I hit one of my nails on the wall as I was expecting to be able to at least out entire hand in. No problem. I let her know, she rolls her eyes. Another employee hears me apologize and he tells me loudly, "you do not say you are sorry, you pay, you are the boss!" She ushers me quickly back over to the dryer reminding me not to mess my nails up (as if it were on purpose). Goes and grabs her purse, tells all of her coworkers goodbye, and leaves. This was the worst service I've had in the town of valparaiso and by far the worst mani/pedi I've had in my life. read more

I have been here several times and each time my experience is different. If you go, try to get Therese, she is the best. We went on a Sunday and it seemed like they were in a hurry to leave. They cut my daughter toe (not Therese) and unfortunately ended up infected and seeing doctor. If you get Therese, you will love you pedi/mani. read more

If I could give this place a zero star rating I would. I have been getting my nails done for many years, and since I just moved to Valpo I needed a new salon to go to and this is by far is the most expensive and the WORST nail salon I have ever been to. My friend and I had a banquet to go to so we decided to go get manicures and pedicures. The price for the manicure was $50 and the pedicure was $45. The lady did not even put a clear coat on my toes and the polish was old because after letting my toes dry while I got a full set the color had still not dried after 30 minutes so my toes got messed up immediately after I put my shoes on. They did not take their time clipping or filing my toes. They were in a hurry. Also, they do not give you what you ask for. I asked for acrylics and there is no price sheet anywhere when you walk into the salon so when they were done with my manicure and I had to pay I realized they were charging me $50 for a manicure that I didn't consent to and not the price of the acrylics I had asked for. They were charging me for a service they "thought" I wanted even though I had specifically asked for the acrylics. I still paid the price and tipped my nail tech thinking it was my mistake for not being clearer (even though I don't know how much clearer I can get other than wearing a sign that says ACRYLICS PLEASE. Then, you would think that for a $50 manicure that my nails would still be in pristine condition after not even a week, but my nails are already peeling up and have air bubbles and my friends nails are doing the same and hers started peeling up the day after we got them done. Overall, I was not impressed. If I am spending upwards of $100 to get my nails done it better be the best quality work I have ever seen, and it ended up being the most expensive I've ever had and the worst quality I've ever seen. I will never go back to this horrible establishment, and I hope no one else goes there and gets overcharged and screwed the way my friend and I did among with many others I am sure since the rest of the reviews of this salon look pretty similar to my experience. This was the worst mani-pedi I have ever gotten. I have been going to nail salons my entire life, and this place had multiple code violations. First of all, they did not have a plastic liner in the pedicure tub. Second, they RE-USED a nail file! This is actually against the law and disgusted me. I could see the debris from past clients on the file. By law you are required to have a unopened package of tools for each client. Here, this was not the case. The building was trashy, disgusting, and cluttered. There was stuff everywhere. There were wires hanging from the ceiling and overall it just looked like a dump. I was not "pampered" during my pedicure as I usually am, they just did things to kill time. During my manicure, my entire cuticle was ripped off. It was bleeding profusely! The nail tech proceeded to put liquids on the wound which made it burn terribly. I was in so much pain. It hurt for hours afterward. She asked me if I wanted my nails clipped down to which I replied "No, thank you." She then continued to ask me and I kept politely refusing. She ended up laughing me because I did not want my nails clipped down. After one of my nails got smudged, they continued to paint more coats on instead of just removing the nail which caused it to look globby. She also asked me to pay before getting my nails done which I suspect was to see the tip before performing the manicure. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and will not be going back. The only reason I came here in the first place was because my normal salon was booked. I cannot wait to return to my usual salon. read more

Worst! I sat in the pedicure chair with my feet in cold water for 40 min. They were working on other people, I get that, but they got done at the same time & proceeded to argue about who was going to do mine. Finally someone does start me however, she's so distracted she kept looking out at the front! The experience here was terrible. The service was expensive and the quality was unsatisfactory. I got a manicure and pedicure. During the pedicure the woman made my toes bleed. During the manicure, the man hardly spoke to me, carrying on an obnoxious conversation with another customer next to me. My nails are already breaking and it has only been 4 days. There are random spots in the gel that were not smoothed out well and the corners of the tips are exposed on two nails, snagging on everything they come near. The quality of the services is not worth the price that you pay and I would not recommend this salon. read more

I do not go very often for a mani/pedi, so I don't know the "good" places to go. When my friend asked me to join her on a whim, I didn't even think about checking reviews before we chose Diamond Nails. What a huge mistake!! The workers were rude, the inside was dirty, if 0 was an option, that's what I would have rated this place. The man who worked on my friend's toes actually cut her and made her bleed. Then he criticized her for not having soft, feminine hands. He told her she was probably "just a strong woman." Despite having the woman tell the man to sit my friend next to me, he sat her across the room away from me to get our manicures. We were the only customers in the building, there's no reason he couldn't have sat next to us so we could chat. I didn't think much about it when the woman was jamming one of the instruments into my toe. It hurt, that's for sure, but now I'm waiting on the results of a culture to tell me whether or not the infection I currently have in my toe is MRSA. I had to go to the doctor, and will be putting antibiotic ointment on my toe for the next 14 days. Unless, of course, it ends up being MRSA, then I will have to get oral antibiotics, which will most likely wreak havoc on my intestines. I should have put more thought into this visit, because on top of my horrible experience, I am a type one diabetic. I am praying that this infection is minor. I've heard stories like this before, but never thought it would happen to me. I can't believe I put myself in such a stupid situation that could have been avoided. Please do not go to Diamond Nails. It isn't worth the risk to your health, or your self-esteem if you do not have soft, flower-like hands. read more
