I just returned from Chic Nails where I had scheduled an appointment for a manicure. When I arrived I was told to take a seat in the waiting area. After 15 minutes of waiting, I was directed to a station without an attendant. I waited for another 5 minutes and still, no one showed up. I went to the lady who directed me there and pointed this out. She told me someone was coming RIGHT NOW to do my nails. Five minutes later, no manicurist showed and I walked out. Made an appointment for no-chip mani pedi, got chrome French tips. I was very clear that this was a trial for my wedding so I wanted the best person they had. My pedicure polish came clean off the. Next. Day. On one of my toes. I genuinely didn't even do anything, I don't even know how it happened. I just looked down and noticed it was gone. I've NEVER had that happen before? My manicure is too short - it looks short, fat, and thick. 0/10 will never return, wish I could get my money back. Paid $165 plus tip. I will NOT return. I've never had a bad pedicure before, it's typically an easy service to provide, but....not so here. No cuticle attention, had a bad rash on my legs within 24 hours, and price was not in keeping with industry standards. An overall VERY disappointing experience. read more

I hesitated to put a bad review because I love to support businesses. Upon my arrival the salon looked a little dirty and busy. Everyone seemed rushed. That should have been my sign to leave, but of course I did not! My experience was the WORST experience I've had in any nail salon! My nails were left uneven, grainy and lumped up with gel that it makes my nails look deformed. The worst part of it all wasn't the final outcome of my no chip manicure, the worst part was the butchering of my cuticles. They drilled the crap out of my cuticles with the drill machine they use and poked the hell out of it. I expressed many times that it was hurting me and yet the lady kept going at it, repeating "I'm sorry." I will never come back to this nail salon as my experience was not a good one. It has been 2 days and my cuticles still burn. The only good thing about my experience was that they were fast. A total of 38 minutes from taking off my old no chip to walking out the door with battered cuticles and a sloppy no chip manicure! read more

So, I normally love this salon. They are usually very consistent and produce amazing nails. But, this time was different. I went in for a simple acrylic set, some pretty French half inch nails. They came out very uneven when it comes to the smoothness. There are a lot of duvets and bumps. I normally love when they tend to your cuticles but they cut me bad. Half my cuticle on one finger is raw. I was coming in for a full set and a pedicure and they forgot about the pedicure I just paid for my nails and left and still left a 15 dollar tip. I now what it's like to live and depend off tips but I expected the great service I'm used to. I'm ultimately disappointed. I really hope in the future they set a standard for their employees and customer service. Hopefully next time is better. read more

Got my nails done yesterday (Sunday) - gel toe nail polish and one has already fallen off did not exercise, work, or anything that could have possibly caused it to fall off . Disappointing when you pay 43 plus tip for a pedicure! This had happened to me the first time I came to chic nails as well but I had gotten regular toe nail polish so I attributed it to that and working on my feet for 10 hour shifts . If I could give zero stars I would. Paid for an upgraded pedicure service and I barely even received a basic service. Didn't push my cuticles back or even trim them only a few spots around the corners of my big toes. Didn't file my nails or scrub my feet. I paid extra for callus removal (included in spa package) and didn't receive any of that. Would not recommend this nail salon to anyone! I honestly never write reviews but to pay $126 for 2 upgraded pedicures for me and my daughter is ridiculous. She at least got the upgraded pedicure service we paid for, but service should be equal for all parties when you are charging that amount. Ridiculous! read more

I know why the other rater had misshapen nails: they reuse disposable nail files so often that there's no grit left. I had the same issue. It appears all the equipment is just used over and over again without even being rinsed between customers. No autoclave in sight. This is a huge IPLA violation. And yes, I've had to correct all the issues that came up over the following couple of days because of how poorly the work was done. At least I didn't get an infection from the nasty hygiene issues. read more

I tried this place out for the first time because I was tired of having my cuticles treated aggressively. The lady who did my nails took her time and paid attention to details, and I was really happy with the service. She reapplied the confetti thing in different ways to make it adhere to my nail as well as it could despite the fact that it was a bit difficult to do so. This salon reminds me of my favorite nail salon in Chicago...the ambience is "chic" just like the name. The salon is spacious and clean, professional and welcoming staff, reclining massage chairs are large, leather, and have an optional clear plastic cover as big as the chair to protect you from Covid. Even each manicure station has its own clear screen in between the nail artist and the patron. You definitely feel safe and comfortable while getting your nails done here. They did a great job on my nails. Tons of colors to choose from and Tara, the owner does some wicked and creative designs. Definitely check out this place for your next mani/pedi or waxing. Geez. My daughter recommended this salon as she thought it was cleaner than others in Valpo. Not sure if I agree. I had two pedicures here about six weeks apart, and both were a nightmare. Both nail techs --men-- acted like they weren't aware a person was connected to my feet. I've never been treated so roughly. Nothing was relaxing about either. The first time I chose a pedicure that involved a lot of leg, rubbing in waxing and sort, none of it comfortable all of it done, roughly, so the second time I went with one that was more focused on the nails and feet. I'm surprised I didn't have my total foot removed with the way the tech handled the cheese grater on my calluses. My nails were clip so short, I actually yelped. And that didn't seem to matter, and the digging, and clipping was very uncomfortable. At the very end of the manicure prior to application of polish, he clipped them again with the toenail clippers. And didn't file them or anything. I was never so glad for torture to be over. I give 2 stars as they did look good. read more

I hate to get on here and speak negatively about a local business, but this was by FAR the worst salon experience I have ever had. I had an appointment with no wait, and my gel manicure took almost three hours. The technician kept messing up, which I kept gently trying to correct, and to cover it he just kept adding more polish. Another technician (who was great) stepped in to help, but her solution was also to add more polish. I left with about 7 layers of polish that now look like puff paint on my fingers, and were smudged by the time I got home because the 7 layers of paint could not dry properly under the UV light (when have you seen a gel manicure smudge??). When I went to pay, I was charged FULL PRICE for this experience. I was asked if I could stay longer for them to fix it, but I had already been there for 3 hours. I was told I could come back within 5 days to have it fixed, but I am leaving for vacation. Today I called and kindly explained my frustration and asked if there was anything that could be done (I would even take a 20% off my next service) and I was told that there was nothing. I have visited this salon before and always had a fairly pleasant experience, but I will never go back. I understand bad manicures happen, but the nerve to charge full price for a three hour poorly done manicure and NO solution to make up for it left an extremely bad taste in my mouth about this business. read more

Went in for a pedicure and full set no chip. The milk and honey pedicure wasn't much better than the cheaper classic. I think a child could have polished them better. I did have them fixed but still not very good. Had to go home and clean the polish off my skin. Manicure is another story the woman talked me Into trying a dip. Big mistake! I had to have her fix 3 nails it looked like there wasn't enough powder used very uneven. Nails were not shaped very good. Needless to say will never go back. Very disappointed! I am going to redo my toes myself before going out of town for a wedding. I have already filed my manicure to make the nails more uniform. I have gone multiple times because this salon is right near my neighborhood. Its a beautiful salon, beautiful atmosphere. However, every time I leave the salon I have to fix my nails. I guess I'm just particular but I cannot stand when my gel polish is painted on unevenly. My nails were all mis-shaped and I had to file them all and shape them when I got home. I've tried to do the "marble" painting, which the manager assured me is popular and done often.....the nail tech doing mine had no clue how to do it. They should've told me that...I had to ask her to take the polish off and just give me a solid color and I felt so terrible. I've tried 3 times and each time I leave unhappy. Unfortunate. read more

I spoke to someone there a few days after in regards to it & was told it was able to be fixed when I would be back in town. I told them the soonest I would be able to come in is today, September 29th. Monday night, the 27th, I had another nail break. On top of that, the nails look nothing like the nails you have displayed. I will attach pictures of the display nails as well as the two pictures of my broken nails with the date & time. I was told that I would have to pay to get them fixed. Absolutely ridiculous when I have the exact proof of when they were broken. DO NOT GO HERE!! Got powder dip nails. Started pulling away from my nails after just 3 days...3 powder dipped nails came off completely. Went back in and they insisted on "fixing" them but they needed redone. Well come to find out you better remember what color you chose because they refuse to "fix" them if you don't know the color. There was no saving them. I asked if I could just choose a different color and they got an attitude and said no and that it would be a charge. So at that point I just asked if they could soak them off and then give me a normal mani instead and just reimburse me for the difference. Nope. I ended up leaving with the powder dip soaked off and my nails looking horrible. No interest on their part to make it right since I didn't remember my color and no refund. So this was my first time here. My daughter and I have heard great reviews about this place so we were excited to go. Unfortunately I will not return. The first picture is what I wanted just a little shorter (that is their picture from their website.) the other three pictures is what I ended up with. I am so disappointed not only in the work done but in how it was handled. I sat in that chair for about an hour and 45 minutes. I have never ever sat that long to get my nails done. So anyway, when I first told the woman that the nails were extremely thick thicker than I've ever had before and they were all miss shaped I believe it was Tara that I pointed it out to it was like she didn't even care. She just said oh I fix for you later well later is too late the nails are already too short and miss shaped how are you going to fix that? She should've stepped in and told the woman that was doing my nails to stop and then Tara could have took over when she was done working on the client she was working on. That could have solved the issue right there and I may have left happy. She did try to offer me a coupon for the next time I come back but I informed her that I will not be back. Again if she had stepped up and stopped the tech then maybe I would have returned. So then during checkout she gave me a what I think is a $20 discount so I paid $45. I legit paid $45 for nails that look like this. I could've done them myself at home and they probably would've looked better. read more

I chose Chic Nails since they have the best reviews in Valpo. I got a great pedicure, however I believe there's been some damage to my natural nails. I feel burning and pain, especially with pressure. It has been uncomfortable even picking things up from getting acrylics today. Would give 0 stars if I could. The only positive I have is that the space is beautiful. Most staff not wearing masks. This is probably the worst pedicure and manicure I have ever gotten. When the gentleman doing my manicure was taking off my no chip polish he was flicking the polish everywhere. Literally just peeling it off instead of soaking it off. And then the gentleman who was doing my pedicure had his telephone charging across the salon. It rang probably three or four times during my pedicure. With each phone call, he would stop my pedicure, get up, and talk on the phone. The manicure was horrific. The gentleman that was doing it kept burning my skin, did not do the correct shape of my nails in which he was shown? And cut them too short. Every time someone came over to try to "fix them "they would just get shorter. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will never go back. This is what I get for trying a new place. read more

This was my second visit to the salon, the first for a pedicure was completely fine. However, this visit was horrible and I will never be back. My nails are completely ruined and I had them take off the dip that was currently being done while there because of the shaping and inconsistent look. My nails are super flimsy now and the picture is what my nails look like after about an hour of shaping them. I still had to pay for this as a full dip manicure even though this is what I left with and 2 people saw my nails before I left.
