I'd like to preface this review by stating that I am a REGULAR customer at this business for several years. Over that period of time, I have noticed a dramatic decline in the service and quality at Diamond Nails, as have a number of my friends who have (smartly) decided to take their business elsewhere. I will now join them. Yesterday, I went to Diamond Nails for my usual semi-monthly pedicure. A guy with blonde highlights in his hair, whose name I do not know, performed my service. My beefs are as follows: 1. Blonde highlight boy never even greeted me. I did not get so much as a 'hello' out of him. 2. Blonde highlight boy spent almost NO time working on my angry and aggressive callouses. They left in exactly the same condition I came in with. 3. He skipped the 'scrub' portion of my pedicure altogether. 4. The massage was weak and shorter than that of every other customer in this pitiful establishment. 5. He failed to clean up his mistakes. I have multiple toes with polish still smeared on the skin, due to his inability to clean up his messy work. And here's the big one: 6. At the end of my pedicure, blonde highlight boy speaks for the FIRST time to let me know that I can no longer tip via my credit card. He informs me that I need to go to the ATM several stores over to get cash for my tip! That's A LOT of nerve. Last I heard, tipping is at the customer's discretion. I have worked in the service industry, and it is NEVER OK to assume, ask for, or demand a tip! Tip is based on services rendered, and there was absolutely no way I was going to use another bank's ATM, which would charge me a $2-4 service fee, to leave a tip for substandard service. Totally inappropriate and unacceptable behavior! When I got home, I called the store and asked to speak with the manager, who was not present during my pedicure due to being 'on break.' When I called the store, a woman informed me that he was still 'on break,' over an hour later. She took my number and told me that Jack would call me. When Jack the manager called me back 45 minutes later, I outlined my complaint as I did above and demanded my money back. Jack stated that he would not refund my money, and I could come back to have his crappy shop redo their crappy service. I'll give them the opportunity to right their mistakes, but I will never set foot in Diamond Nails again. There are a million of these places around. I refuse to spend another dollar of my hard-earned money on services that are so blatantly subpar. read more

If I had written this review a week ago it's likely that I would have given Diamond Nails only 3 stars. It was because of my most recent visit that they've earned another star from me. Since I'm the permanent dishwasher of the household, manicures are pretty much non-existent in my vocabulary. Pedicures, however, are a must. In my opinion, your feet have the hardest job. They deserve TLC as much as possible. I used to go to the other nail place down the road until I really needed a pedi one day and there was no parking to be found at that other shopping center. Though I frequent Salt Lake Shopping Center very often I had never tried Diamond Nails. They've been there for several years and they always seem to be packed with clients, so I figured they couldn't be too bad. Their prices are comparable to other nail salons. I always opt for a regular pedi ($25) though they always try to do the up-sell. An extra $5 gets you a design on your big toes. Though the back end of the salon (where the pedi spas are) seem a little cramped, I do have to mention that they've upgraded their pedi spas and massage chairs with brand new equipment. Their massage chairs also include hooks for your purse so you won't have to worry about leaving your precious accessory on the floor! Kay did a great job at my most recent visit. She provided wonderful conversation while working on my poor feet but also gave me some relaxing time when she sensed I was a bit tired. Hey, I'm a new mom after all... Best of all, my toes look like a piece of art and she was able to transform my feet into something I can show off in public again! I've finally found a nail tech that I love and I'll make sure to ask for her each time I visit. Lastly, here's a tip -- apparently they've changed their credit card system. So, while you can still pay with a credit card, you won't be able to leave a tip on it. You'll need to tip in cash. I tried understanding the reasoning behind this but there's no sense in doing so. Cash is king, anyway, and it probably makes tipping out way easier. read more

I'm actually writing this review over a month after visiting this salon. Why? ...Because my experience was so terrible I'm still thinking about it!!! First of all the staff was very rude and didn't seem to care at all about my experience or that of my family. I mentioned that this was the first time I was able to drag my husband with me to get his first ever pedicure. I wanted it to be a great experience for him but instead they made us feel uncomfortable. The staff made us feel like we were being rushed through crappy services, all while taking forever. Don't know how that's even possible but somehow it was. My daughter is 5 and picked two nail colors for her pedi. We've don't this many, many times and have always had the manicurist color every other nail the opposite color. I was so shocked to see that they had colored one foot with one color and the other foot with the second color. It just looked weird. I had a gel acrylic fill and not only was it the worst job I've ever seen but it was $46!!!! For a gel fill?! Wtf?! That was ridiculous. This place is a joke with unskilled and rude employees and outrageous prices. I will NEVER go there again. read more

The location is soo convenient for me, however I will never return to this salon! A few months ago, I was on my way home and decided to get a lip wax since this place is literally 2 min away from my house. Just made this account but felt obliged to share my experience. I believe it was some kind of holiday, so I called to see if they had time for a lip wax. They said sure come right in. On arrival, I signed in and saw that a few other people were waiting to get other services done. Looked pretty busy and I waited about 20 min before I got called. One of the older ladies, maybe the owner(?) called my name out loudly asking YOU WANT LIP WAX? Can you say embarrassing much? Anyway, she takes me to a seat in the back and prepped my lip. Standard procedure. Blows the wax on the stick and puts it on, then come the strips and pulling. When she was done, I could feel something was wrong. I usually don't get red or swollen at all and I'd say I have a high pain tolerance. My lip STUNG so bad, but I thought maybe it was just because I was long overdue for that wax. I'm not sure if she even showed me a mirror, but I remember giving a good tip (as I always do), UGH I wish I didn't. I returned to my car and looked in the mirror to see a chuck of skin missing above my lip. That's why it hurt so bad. It was noticeable, and red so I was livid to know that she didn't say anything about it. Like a 1 inch by 1/2 inch burn. I'm not one to cause a scene or make a big deal out of it so I just dealt with it on my own. For the next few days, I couldn't put makeup on it and put neosporin on it. It looked weird to put a bandaid there so I just let it breathe. It eventually scabbed up and peeled away after I paid close attention to it & remembered to keep applying neosporin. Long story short, don't get waxed here. If you do take the chance, I hope you're prepared with lots of neosporin. I will give you a tip to use the cream instead of the original ointment so it doesn't make the burn shiny and even more noticeable. :) read more

I was a walk in on a Sunday and I had to wait probably 2 seconds! The lady I had- Annie- was incredible. The makes the acrylic nails super thin and she did not try to push any add one onto me which is always nice. She was very precise when painting. read more

Diamond Nails - Deluxe pedicure! Probably the best I have ever had. - Nail Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I had a hard time placing a star on this place. I always get my brows and lip waxed here. I always get the same girl but I never remember her name. Anyway, she's really great. Does a really good job and removing the hair in one swift move. The only reason I'm not giving this place 4 stars is because the guy I keep getting to do my nails always hurts me. I think he's the only male that does nails. I've had him 3 times and every time I get my nails done, he cuts my flesh with his tools. All he'd say after was, "Oops. Sorry. Mistakes happen." I was like "WTF, dude." read more

*** WALKED OUT! *** I needed a quick change of color (had an important command function within 6 hours) before picking up my child at day car. I was in the neighborhood so called to secure an appointment. I was told 3:30; arrived a little early & didn't get seated in a chair until 3:50! I explained I had to leave by 4:30 in order to get my child from day care. The apparent head of the place assured me I would be. By 4:00, I was still soaking with no one appearing to be close to seeing me. I dried off my feet & left. *NO ONE NOTICED!* read more

So I always go to Kristen when I need to get a fill on my nails as well as nail art. Before my trip she did my nails. I was so disappointed because she rushed on my service bc another client was waiting for a period of time and the client was waiting for another technician, so she did a bad job. I also notice that i had green on my right thumb and she said it was ok to put an arcrylic nail on. I left for my trip and wanted my nails to look good but my thumb kept giving me issues bc there was a pocket space and it turned into fungus, so i never will go back. Sorry, but kristen is very sweet. Customer Service shud be #1 tho, especially u are a repeat customer!! JS read more

Diamond Nails - It was grn and then I had cut it off... Its growing, FINALLY!! NOT COOL!!! - Nail Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I think this is one of the better nail salons in the area. Friendly staff, the guy doing my pedicure did a wonderful job and took his time with the massage. The woman who worked on my nails did a great job and she worked to perfection. She also did a great job waxing my eyebrows to my liking. The only thing I didn't like was getting waxed in front of other people. No private room. They have military discount on Wednesdays and senior discount on Tuesdays. Overall there was a nice atmosphere and I will continue to come here each time I get my nails done. read more

I went to nearby for some errand and saw their ad for Christmas special. Just as Tamara stated below, I was following pretty much same pathway, in my case, the water was warm not much chatting. I got two flowers for Christmas special and they are pretty cute! Rather than spending nearly $100 for same services elsewhere, I thought they are much reasonable. read more

I had a great experience here. I only came for the pedicure but definitely will be going back for other services as well. This establishment is very clean. One thing about this nail salon is that they really do break down the prices of everything. I plan to get my nails done soon, and it's nice to know how much each design costs. So therefore in the end you are not completely shocked when they give you your total lol. As for my pedicure I got the deluxe where you get 2 different massages. I absolutely enjoyed it. Being almost 9 months pregnant and dealing with feet swelling, it was much needed. I plan to make this my go to nail salon! read more

My first time at this nail salon and it was AMAZING! The staff was friendly and the girl who worked on my nails Minhee was AWESOME!! I went to diamond nails to get gel nails for the first time. I don't often get my nails done so I am very cautious when choosing a place. I live near salt lake so I decided to go here. Parking was really easy. I walked in and was instantly greeted and referred to a manicurist. Her name was Jenny and she immediately greeted me and listened to what I wanted. She eased my fears about ruining my nails and explained what gel nails were all about. Though she was from Vietnam, she spoke plenty of English and we had a full conversation about all sorts of things. She was very gentle and I felt comfortable the whole time. She did a really nice job on my nails and I would def see her again. The place was clean but a bit cramped and my chair was touching the manicurist behind me, thankfully it wasn't to busy. The reason why I gave it 4/5 is due to the price. I payed $36 for basic manicuring with light glitter gel polish. They don't allow tips via your credit card so I had to give her cash which made me feel a bit weird having her break a 20 for a five dollar tip. So that was a bit awkward. Enjoyed myself and will probably go back again. read more

This was unfortunately one of the worst manicures I've ever had. I am not big on reviewing, but this one needed to be done. I got gel nails, and it took forever, and the color is incredibly uneven (even noticeable from over a foot away). She abused my cuticles, and painted a ton of skin without cleaning it up at the end. And to top it all off, most of the nails have a big gap between the cuticle and the paint....in a week they'll look three weeks old. If they make it that long, I have a feeling they're going to start peeling in a few days :/ I have an interview coming up and was really hoping to look professional down to my nails. read more

Diamond Nails - Looks like garbage. - Nail Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I went to this location since it is close to my place of employment. As I entered I was greeted by a man sitting behind his work station. I told him I wanted a manicure with gelish polish. He said okay and told me to have a seat at his station. He was quick to bring me the colors samples to choose from. The strange part of this manicure is that he massaged my hands and arms after he completed putting on the polish. Overall, my experience there was "OKAY". read more

So I usually go to the brow bar to wax my brows, however, I was pressed for time today, and since I live near by, I decided to stop into diamond nails to see if they offered any waxing services. I found that they did and they took me back right away. I'm not sure how long this particular tech ha been waxing eyebrows, but I get the impression that it hasn't been too long( although he looked to be at least in her mid-late 50's). She began as normal; brushing through and started with the right brow. After placing the wax under my brow, she rummaged around for a strip leaving the wax on too long. She finally found a strip and proceeded as usual. After about 10min, she began to wipe that cream that helps to remove the wax and plucked a little. I guess she noticed something and reapplied more wax to both side.... after already rubbing the cream! Then she handed me a mirror to take a look. I told her that I usually get it trimmed a little more and the ends thinner. She said, " I leave cause you don't want to thin here! And if I thin here I have to do all over". Correct me if I'm wrong, but most salons ask what you think and will make the proper adjustments based on the customers request. I stood up and headed toward the register to pay the $10. For the first time ever, I did not leave a tip. I felt a little bad at the counter, but 10 minutes later, those feeling quickly went out the window. When I got home my skin around my eyebrows were burning so I applied some ice. I notice a burn under my right brow, which came from her leaving the wax on too long....ugh! I've been there before for nail services and they are pretty good. Can't say the same for their waxing service though. This was by far the worst I've experienced with brow waxing. I also called the shop and spoke with the owner regarding the situation. She was apologetic and offered that I come in to put some cream on the area. I denied her offer as a little bacitracin will do it, but I just wanted to inform her. read more

Im pretty disappointed as I was initially super excited for the first set I got, the tech was super nice, she was a little rough on my hands and I left with some bleeding but I still liked the set and just figured I wouldn't get my cuticles done next time. Couple weeks later I went in for a fill and had a different tech. This tech was much more aggressive on my nails I had to physically pull my hands away a couple time because she was just pushing so hard on my nails with the machine. I still liked the set at the end and I never had a nail pop off but just the other night I decided to remove the acrylics as it was about time, and there was bacteria growing on my nail bed. During my fill I did notice the lack of sanitation between clients but I hoped for the best and figured they at least sanitized the tools between clients but now I don't think they sanitize much at all. I gave two stars because I liked the sets themselves and they never broke or came off. The techs are all pretty nice, there was even a tech near by dealing with a horribly rude customer and they still handled it well, but the lack of cleanliness and the cuts/pain really tainted my experience. I definitely would recommend a different salon. read more

I normally am one not to write reviews, but for this I have to. I looked up Diamond Nails Salt Lake, and noticed a lot of bad reviews. I currently work at a place that doesn't have the best reviews, but it's because they are several years old, and my job has improved 300%, plus I also try to not judge a place solely on reviews, because people tend to post bad over good. So I thought I'd check out Diamond Nails anyway. It's in walking distance from my house, so I was really excited that it'd be great and easy for me to get my nails done more often. Pros: -In a nice area in the shopping center, conveinent. -Employees were all very friendly, though my nail lady didn't talk too much -Didn't try to push you to add more, like design or pedicure, like most places do -Clean and spacious; not too busy but a few customers were also there -Called and got an appointment fast and was instantly seated Cons: -It really is expensive. All I got was a fill and polish change, but I have gotten that done muchhh cheaper at other places. -The quality; within ONLY 2-3 days, the nails started slightly lifting on the bottom corners. On just about every nail! I hadn't done anything with my hands/nails much to make them like that. I've gotten fills at several other places. As the days went on, just 5 days after the fill 1 nail came off, the 6th day a 2nd nail came off and other was on its way. They got so lifted to the point that I had to pull them all off.. -The red polish she did was such a thin layer, the glitter mostly covered so you couldn't really tell. This all isn't a huge deal, but still. She flew through it.. I would have been more okay/given more starts, but the fact that I paid so much and the quality was junk, I had to only give 2 stars...and I don't think I will be going back again read more

Kristen the owner moved here so I had to move over here. It is good though because I moved to Foster Village any way. It pretty pricey but she is worth it. She is the only one I know that can shape the way she does. It does not come out fat and my fingers look nice and classy after. She knows what she is doing and expiriments with different looks which makes her a pioneer in this nail industry here. She is super nice and personable which is why I love coming to her. Her employees are really nice too. They remember me and that makes me feel special! A lot of other places I go they never remember me and I am just another client. I come here to get gel manicures, pedicures, and facial waxing. read more

I just got the best pedicure ever! I went with the diamond package and it was so worth it! The lady who did my feet was so sweet, and did an amazing job! I got better treatment than I've ever had before! She gave me the longest foot rub I've ever had and I feel like a new woman. Also, I get pretty bad ingrown nails....pedicures usually feel like torture to me! She was very sensitive of them and cut them out very gently. I appreciated that she was careful with them afterwards knowing they were sensitive. 5 stars all the way to Mrs. Kris! read more

Went there to get a Basic Pedicure done. I didn't want any nail polish on even clear polish. I wanted to keep it natural. I mentioned to her (Hue) what I wanted done. I told her Basic pedicure - she heard Deluxe-and took out exfoliating scrubs. Luckily I stopped her from using it. So I assumed I was going to get charged for the Basic pedi. Instead, I was charged for the deluxe which I didn't ask for. So be aware of what they're servicing you and what they're charging you. read more

Diamond Nails - Loving the color - Nail Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I'm so upset with the services I received today! I have been here 3 times and 2 our of the 3 have been 1 star reviews but today I had to say something. I always try to give places more then one chance. I went for my eye brows today and it was the most painful eyebrow waxing I have ever received and I go at least 2 times a month for the past 6 years. Not only the waxing but the plucking was extremely painful! My eyebrows are uneven and look horrible I am mortified I have to walk around with my eyebrows looking like this until they grow in so I can attempt to fix them. I had a young girl do them, I would advise do not allow people who are not good at doing eyebrows to do them Anymore! I will not be returning back. My eyebrows are uneven, have chunks missing from the middle and were made shorter! read more

I was googling Hawaii's "Best of the Best" for 2010 and was looking for a new nail salon. I like to try different places but if there's something I like, then of course I like to stick with it. Normally I like L'Mour in Pearlridge, but their prices have gone up ridiculously and the quality hasn't improved, so I was on the hunt for somewhere new. Diamond Nails won 1st place for 2010 for "Best of the Best Nail Salon" so I decided to give it a try. It's in the Salt Lake shopping center and although the center itself is busy there is ample parking. I went as a walk-in and was given service by a female... her name is Lani and she's at the second chair station. She's good! She was friendly and did a really good job. My toes were cut down to a nice size, the cuticles were nicely trimmed, and the massage and foot scrub was a decent amount of time and she applied just the right amount of pressure. I always get a set of "french tips"... I think it's classy and simple so that's my fave. It's hard to do french tips... sometimes all the toes don't match as they make the tip too big on one toe or too small on the other toe, but she was really good making the french tips and took her time to make sure everything was even. I ended up getting nail art on my two big toes, and she put a butterfly. She showed me samples and ended up giving me a purple butterfly with a white outline and rhinestones. It was SUPER cute! I believe I was at the salon for an hour so that was a pefect amount of time for me. The price was reasonable: $38, which included $25 for the pedicure, $6 for the french tip, and $6 for the nail art. Of course that is without tip. I went with my friend and she enjoyed her experience as well. I can't remember the name of her lady but I remember it starts with a "K" because my friend's name starts with a "K" and this employee uses the first chair station. Both women are awesome! The salon is very clean inside and I will definitely return! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place...run by people who used to live near me! Came here as a breather from the stress of an upcoming funeral for my aunt. I brought along my mother and my cousin...talk about a good time! We all got deluxe pedicures (basic pedi + leg scrub + leg massage + leg masque), my cousin and I also got our eyebrows waxed and my dear mother got her very first gel manicure. The guy who worked on me absolutely rocked it - a great leg massage and I felt totally relaxed. I didn't have to worry about being cut. The other guy working on my cousin worked around her injured foot issue and she was fine. My mother had such a good time - she totally charmed all the workers there. Very cute to see. If I am ever back in Honolulu and I need a pedicure, I will come to this place. Why not 5 stars? My waxing job was ok. When I got home the girl had missed some hair that was tiny and needed to be plucked. It was a bit pricey for what I'm used to paying for a pedicure - they nickel and dimed me all the way. I know that is how most Vietnamese salons work, but the one that I go to here in California doesn't do that. The same pedicure I got for $55 in Honolulu I can get for $35 here. read more

I love coming here, well used to at least. I always come here to do my eye brows with Kristen. And Lani always did my nails but she moved to s farther location. Lately coming here I been receiving bad service but still tried to forget about it. My last service was a week ago and for the first time I did gel nails. I always get acrylics because I like the longer look n I figure that's what gel was. The guy didn't really explain what he was doing and though I was crazy by the questions I was asking him. I just didn't know work and didn't know it was only my natural nails. I had to pick from the colors so I figure it was gonna be out on. So I know next time to be more specific but he should've helped me out. It's only been a week and it's already peeling and I paid $35 for it.
