Keith was our tech. Heat went out Sunday evening. Called Diamond. Said they would send someone out Monday. Keith arrived around 1:30pm. Temp indoors was 52 degrees. He checked out furnace and said old unit. Went to shop to see if he could get part. Gone more than 30 minutes. Got back and said this part better work. At 4:30 showed my husband broken part. Said couldn't weld or do anything to unit. I started calling multiple vendors in town to get new furnace installation bids. My husband took broken part to friend for help. When returned I'm on a second level up in our home and hear a screaming match in my garage. I walked down and tech was yelling at my husband- appeared to be getting very aggressive. I said why are you yelling at my husband? He said I have to get paid. I said you have a credit card on file-bill us. We asked him to leave. My husband took broken part to welder and Anchorage plumbing and heating fixed my furnace in a hour while Diamond had us spend miserably cold night in house with no heat. Temperature inside next am was 42 degrees. Stay away from this company. Our experience was brutal and they want to charge us $100 more for doing nothing except leaving us without heat. If I could rank them zero,I would. Terrible experience! read more

Sad experience with Dimond Heating as a new home owner. Lack of diagnostic skills and follow up on customer care. Paid asked price and extra charge for the inspection to tackle the problem 2 technicitians were not able to figure out the issue with heating system in my new home. Money are gone, now loosing hot water /heat. Dimond heating failed to diagnose the issue in a first place, and asking more money for additional visits, even for the system replacement estimate. Called to notify a supervisor, have not received a supervisor call back. Feel deceived. read more

We had them come out for garage heater and they said our unit was broken and needed to be replaced. They claimed the unit was too old and the parts were no longer available. Been a customer for over a year. They are always professional whether on the phone or in person. They seem to prioritize customers that are "urgent" as I would hope they would do being that we live in Alaska and it could mean life or death. They have gone above and beyond to keep me updated on my heating needs and if I might have any issues in the future. Customer loyalty = 0 Selling my home and needed maintenance on my boiler and repair on my hot water heater. Put on hold, comes back and tells me they can schedule me for FEBRUARY! They are focusing on "people with no heat". I get that and I told them that I understand it could be a bit of a wait, but no. I am a return customer. Doesn't matter. They redid our air handler and water heating system and still shine like a gem! Justin and Brandon (and ride along dog Ernie - poor pup had to stay out in the van but got lots of pets throughout the day) are fantastic company reps - the nicest guys, and we are still wowed about how Diamond manages to leave our house after that many hours like ninjas - no trace! Facing a leaking water heater during Thanksgiving week, I called Diamond for a quote on a new unit with installation. There customer service and estimators were responsive and helpful. Scheduling service resulted in an appointment a bit further out than I would have preferred, but it was a holiday week and my need for service was unexpected. The quoted price seemed a bit on the high side but maybe that's just Alaska pricing. The crew that did the installation of the new unit and removal of the old were professional and on time. The work looks solid and certainly better than I could have done! read more

The short and sweet: excellent customer service and communication, very long waits to get an appointment, good warranty on service, underwhelming experience and performance, high priced that is probably the going rate for Anchorage. I have had them come and do three different jobs: annual maintenance on a boiler, service inspection on an ERV/Home ventilation system, and quote to replace an HRV/Home ventilation system. The annual maintenance on the boiler was a little problematic. Making the appointment was easy, they are really quick and efficient about the booking process. The plumber showed up exactly on-time and communicated when he was en route. The plumber identified a faulty expansion tank and offered to replace it immediately. All good experience to that point even though the price was a little high. After he completed the work I found that he left a valve in the wrong position, turned down my boiler too low, didn't change out the back flow preventer (which leaked when the water supply was turned back on), and my in-floor heat controller was in an error state due to a bad sensor that he never caught. I called them back after he left (and a friend who knows boilers took a look at the work). Diamond at least sent the plumber back out a few days later to inspect and correct the issues at no extra cost. Grade A customer service, grade C for the plumber making the mistakes. I also had someone come and inspect my broken HRV system. The guy said it was too old and couldn't be fixed. What he meant was, "I don't feel like doing the work to fix it". After a few hours of taking apart and investigating I found the problem was a bad motor, found a replacement motor on Amazon, put everything back together and my old HRV system was up and running for $200. Diamond wouldn't even quote me a price to fix the HRV. I had Diamond send someone out to quote me a replacement cost for that same broken ERV system. They quoted me something around $5,000. As I stated, I was able to fix the old one for $200, so I didn't bite. The guy who came out to quote me for the replacement didn't really know the difference between an HRV and an ERV. Overall, Anchorage doesn't have many options for boiler/ERV technicians. I like Diamond's preferred customer program, that I get bumped to the front of the line if I have an emergency. If I lived in the lower-48 I'd probably look for another company. read more

I was fortunate to have work done by Diamond Heating the first time was when I had to replace my furnace and they did such an amazing job. This time my hot water heater I called a few places for estimates and again Dimond Heating was the only company to return my call. They were great came out and ordered it and installed it. They were very professional and they cleaned up after. This will be the only company that I will continue to do business with they don't inflate any prices and they help out where they can. This review is long over due and sorry that it has taken to long to write. But whatever your needs give these guys a call they will fix you right on up. read more

He walked me through what I needed to look for, and he helped me yo get the heat going without having to pay 1 penny. We recently had an outfit install a new high efficiency boiler and companion hot water heater in our four plex. We ran into numerous problems during & after the install. After a week of constant issues we contacted Diamond Heating since they installed this brand of boiler as well and explained all of our issues and concerns with them. They setup Keith to come out and take a look. He showed up right when he said he would , quickly noticed a couple of safety related issues that he remedied as well as some operational issues as well. He was very friendly, calm and knowledgeable and we felt extremely grateful he had come to our rescue. After he left with the boiler temp adjusted from 180 degrees down to 125 and still providing comfortable heat without wasting all that energy. It has been a great experience working with Diamond Heating. I have had two different experiences with this business and both times I was impressed with their honesty, knowledge, and quality of work. My first experience was with Sam who assesses and does their estimates. I was looking for a quote to replace my hot water heater and furnace. He was timely, friendly, and spent huge amount of time educating me and answering all of my questions. I did not feel rushed and the quote was quickly finalized and back to me in less than a day. I also felt absolutely no pressure to commit quickly or do unnecessary work. I ended scheduling a service call for maintenance on both units. Tyler was very professional, timely, and gave me pragmatic advice for how to get the most years out of my furnace. They have my business for both maintenance and future replacement when the time comes. Also, after some research into the Rheem and Trane products, I am also convinced that Diamond uses very high quality products in their residential work. They are tidy and respectful and don't look like they just rolled off 3 weeks on the slope! The service tech, Sean, came over (mask on), diagnosed the problem, cleaned and installed the parts I ordered from the manufacturer and had my furnace up and running in short order. Do not use this company, I would give them NEGATIVE 5 stars if that was an option. About two weeks ago the furnace in my rental property went out. Called Diamond Heating and they went out and replaced the igniter. The tech told me if that wasn't the fix, then I needed to change the control board. Fast forward a day and the furnace would sporadically go out. I called back and waited three hours for a call to see if they had the control board in stock. I could never get an answer. I started calling around and found out Moore heating had one in stock and since I needed it done that day (below freezing temperatures), I cancelled with Diamond and went and picked up the control board and had our handyman install it. Furnace still didn't consistently work. I called Moore Heating and their tech came out and said that we needed a new igniter and that the igniter that was put on does not work on Lennox furnaces. Called Diamond heating to ask for a refund since they didn't use the correct part and they refused. They said it was an "universal igniter" and it should have worked and since another company went out, they can't refund me (even though I tried on two different days to see if they had the control panel in stock and after hours of waiting, could never get an answer and had to look elsewhere). I told them I could send them the receipt from Moore heating to show that a few days after Diamond installed their igniter, they had to install a new one. Still no. This company is a scam, doesn't know what they are doing, and won't own up to their mistakes. Now I'm out $362 for their visit and faulty igniter from Diamond Heating, and another $500 for installing a new control board that their tech told me was the next step, when in reality a correct igniter would have fixed the issue on day one. Diamond heating is an unethical, immoral company that will charge you big bucks and still leave you with a broken heater. read more

I came home to find my furnace was igniting! My house was cold and I needed someone fast. I called first thing in the morning and Joe was at my door by 930. Inspection and diagnostic tests done. Slow to get out and give me a quote on the heating system. When the guy showed up, he unplugged my freezer so he could plug in his laptop. He forgot to plug my freezer back in and I didn't realize it until too late. He admitted he had unplugged my freezer for his laptop. He was not willing to replace anything that was lost.. there went a whole season of hunting and fishing. No, I didn't do business with them in the end. read more

Our water heater wasn't producing hot water. We called Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska, and they sent a tech out. He diagnosed the issue and then told my wife, who was there to meet him, that if it were him, he "would just buy a new water heater." My wife commented that the water heater was newer, installed fewer than six years ago just before we purchased our home. The tech challenged her on that assumption, saying that the water heater could be the original water heater from 1996 and we were lied to during the sale. Finding it hard to believe that the tech couldn't distinguish between a three-decade old water heater and a six-year old water heater, my wife looked up the serial number online. The water heater is, in fact, six years old. In fact, it was still under warranty. So my wife asked the tech for a quote to simply repair the water heater, and he obliged. His estimate was just over a thousand dollars. The next day, I learned that a coworker's husband is a reputable plumber. He came by and diagnosed the problem. He found the same issue as the Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska tech. However, his opinion was that there was no need to buy a new water heater. He suggested that we replace a part and had the problem fixed within two hours for less than $250. Who can say whether this was an isolated experience or a routine business practice? I just know that we'll send our business elsewhere in the future. read more

This week my garage furnace died so I called Diamond and was connected with Craig (same estimator from years ago) who scheduled a site visit with me within 2 hours. Was able to schedule my installation between appointments the next day. Their prices are within reason, communication is great and they are good at what they do. I would not hesitate to call them again for heating related work. read more

recently i had a leak in a 1.5 year old boiler. i was selling the house so i didn't want to deal with the warranty. the leaking part is a temperature/pressure control valve. a part that costs $20 and is one threaded connection. they charged $380, i called to inquire how this could cost this much and they said it was the "book" price. they also out in the invoice something that needed to be fixed (their opinion) that wasn't the issue. when i then called my warrenty department they wanted to talk to the plumber that did the work, when i called diamond and asked if they could talk to them they said they were not going to waste their time on the phone and not get paid (i had just got done paying them over $1300 for tests and small issues. they were not flexible and i don't think the charges matched the service. -i have had better service and better prices read more

I had a major issue with my boiler this weekend and asked for multiple contractors to come and provide an estimate for the cost of its repair. All of them showed up and did just that, until I got to Diamond Heating/AirTemp Alaska. The technician showed up at my home spent about 15 minutes looking at my unit then went to the vehicle for about 30 minutes to "write up his report" he said, and to my shock and disbelief, he came back and asked for an $89 service fee. When I scheduled the estimate on the phone, not once was a fee mentioned. I didn't think anything of it, because the other 3 contractors said they provide a free estimate. Contractors ALWAYS inform you prior to even showing up at your home if there will be a fee associated with them just estimating the cost for repairs. I figured there had to have been some kind of mistake so I called the secretary that initially set up the appointment to clear things up. I got on the phone with the secretary and she apologized for not disclosing the fee. She then said an owner would call me and I thought that would be it. After she hung up with me, she immediately called the tech and his speaker phone picked up and I heard the drastic change in the tone of her voice while she told the tech to get out of my house. The owner called me shortly after the tech left, and I tried to reason with him and ask him if he would not feel wronged if someone came to his home to just look at a system and then slapped an unexpected fee in his face. He cut me off and then insulted my intelligence by saying "$89 dollars doesn't even begin to pay for the expenses associated with what his tech just provided me". I had to hold back the tears because I felt bullied and taken advantage of. My husband and I have been so hurt by this experience. To make matters worse, the secretary just called me back demanding that I pay $89 or expect to be taken to collections. I never felt so taken advantage of and bullied by a contractor before. How could a contractor not tell you they will charge you $89 for 15 minutes of looking at your unit and then expect to bully you into paying it? The sad thing is, I never even got an estimate of how much it would cost to repair or replace my boiler and that was what I asked for. All the tech did was look at it, said it that I needed a new boiler and asked for $89. I am asking if anyone else out there have experienced this from Dimond. If so, please give me a call or text me at 907 891 4295. Let us file a lawsuit and stand up for consumer rights. Too many crooks are out there that stomp all over hard working Alaskan Families and it should not be like this. We shouldn't have to be bullied into scams like this. If you have encountered similar mistreatment from them lets stand together for what is right. read more
