I called McCann Plumbing and Heating as we were having a problem with our master bath toilet not flushing. This was also a day where Anchorage was experiencing a snow storm! Don called me back and we determined a time when he could come to our house to access the situation. I was also at a doctor's appointment so he worked around my schedule, which is unheard of with most service companies! Don arrived at our house and looked everything over. He told my husband that it was really not a difficult fix, and that my husband really just needed to go to Lowe's or other hardware store, and buy the specific part that Don told my husband to purchase. He explained how to fit new part on, and that it would save us a lot of money by doing this fix by ourselves. I was really impressed with this kind gesture, and such honesty and integrity. We had an emergency Friday night loss of heat issue when something blew out in our boiler. As I was calling around for after hours service, everyone that I was able to reach were several hours from coming out and I was looking at a minimum of $500 - $600 plus parts. I called McCann Plumbing and Heating and talked to Don. He wasn't able to come out, but he spent a considerable amount of time talking with me on the phone and troubleshooting my issue. He identified the likely failing part and directed me on where to get it first thing in the morning. The replacement was easily within my capabilities after Don gave step by step instructions, and I fixed the issue myself in less than 30 minutes and for only the $110 price of the part. Great Our gas boiler was constantly short cycling even though we had extensive work done to it in the spring by our "former" plumber who couldn't get to us until at least the middle of December unless we had an after hours visit. I had lost faith in them anyway so I started calling other plumbers. No luck. I called McCann to see if he could recommend someone. It was -8 at our house. Low 50's inside. He was busy, but he recommended two plumbers. One was leaving the state for Thanksgiving. The other never came by, so the next morning, I called McCann again. Mr. Cann answered and asked me where I live. I answered Wildwood Lane near West High. He was passing West on his way to a job. A minute later he was in our drive. A half hour later we had heat again. In the middle of this sub-zero cold snap, I came home to a cold garage. Cold house. Cold baseboards. Yikes, I'm scared and praying that my pipes aren't frozen up! I called the plumber who just installed my HWH, couldn't see me for a week. Called another plumber, same thing. I looked up Yelp and saw McCann Plumbing & Heating with FIVE stars. To my great fortune, he was on another job but not far from my house. He would be able to swing by and take a look. Thank my lucky stars!!! I discovered my water heater was leaking from the bottom on New Years Day. I gave Don a text and he was over at my house promptly to assess the water heater. It was over 20 years old and he recommended a new one. He showed me precisely why the old water heater was leaking and also where my water shutoff valves were in the crawlspace. He had the new water heater and valves installed fairly quickly and even replaced one of the cartridges on my bathroom tub faucet due to old sediment from the old water heater. He also made sure all the water was running at good pressure after the water heater install. He was thorough and explained the problems in a way I could understand plus he even hauled away the old water heater for me. I called McCann in the afternoon and had an appointment first thing in the morning the next day. Don, the owner, arrived to my home on time. The job I needed done took less than an hour (with a one hour minimum required) and then he said, "you've got me for the hour, what else do you need done?". The extra things I showed him he was able to fix, like a leaky bathtub that was dripping and causing a hole in my ceiling below. Don was on time, extremely knowledgeable, fixed more than what I initially called about, kind, and informative. My hot water heater stopped working. I called the original plumbers who installed it and could not get a commitment when they would come out. After waiting one afternoon and evening and the next morning and not hearing from them, I called McCann at noon. I got the owner Don. He said he would be up in three hours. He ran a little late, but he called to keep me posted. He showed up, found the problem quickly (a broken thermostat), fixed it, and pointed out a few other problems that need to be addressed. Last night I discovered a leak under my kitchen sink and my husband was fishing out of town. I quickly turned off the water valve and searched for a plumber, saw the positive reviews for McCann Plumbing and Heating. First thing this morning we called and he was here shortly after and looked at the problem and was able to fix it. I had a great experience with McCann Plumbing and Heating! We were having boiler issues when it was below zero at night. Donald McCann is our number one go to and at the time he was out of town. He was able to help me trouble shoot the boiler over the phone while is was in an airport. After successfully trouble shooting the boiler with Donald he was able to visit the house the next morning and knew what was needed to be done and was fixed within 30 minutes. If I were a selfish person (and I'm tempted to be) I would be VERY quiet and NOT share my experience about the excellent and fast service I received from McCann P&H, because now he'll get swamped with desperate calls from other Anchorage hot water heater owners. Don McCann provided excellent service with a new washer and gas dryer I recently purchased. He came over the day before the new washer and dryer were delivered, disconnected both machines and moved them out of the laundry room in order to expedite their removal by the delivery service bringing the new machines. He then came back promptly the next day (Sunday) after the new machines were delivered and connected them. Everything went without a hitch. My gas residential water heater died and I started calling around for someone to replace it. Most plumbers never responded, a few others couldn't fit me in for days or weeks. Great experience! This is my second time using McCann. I would highly recommend his services. I had no hot water or heat. I called and surprisingly he was able to come that day and got my boiler up and running by replacing an igniter. My water heater is dependent on my boiler so that is working as well. Our furnace stopped working on a holiday weekend in the middle of February. Mr. McCann saved me once again. My boiler was cracked and leaking at the core which required a new boiler. I contacted Don a day after he arrived back in town.
