I don't usually leave reviews but I'm throughly impressed with my service. I will be using them for all my future plumbing and heating needs. First they were able to get me on the schedule same day for a leak repair. I was a little surprised that I had to pay a fee upfront for the call out but I figured lots of service business ask for deposits so I decided it was fine. Second the front desk called me to let me know my technician was going to be a little past our scheduled time. Then a few minutes later my technician called to let me know his eta. They also sent me a text message with his picture and name saying he was on his way. Third my tech Peter let me know what he was doing and why. He was very thorough in finding the source of the leak. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be requesting him for all of my future repairs. Fourth I felt the service charges were reasonable especially for the amount of time spent. Apparently they use a flat-rate pricing module instead of charging by the hour. I appreciate that as looking for a leak can be a lengthy process read more

we scheduled so had apt on books they said be there between 8am-noon & called 4 times saying running late then to try to reschedule us I was like no we'll wait then guys on the way etc when the guys on the way phone call happened was another hr. They have 30 day warranty we had them come out in June end of July noticed same leak our clogged drain still same problem looks like they just sprayed sealant on leak & the drained pipes had roots etc but yeah had someone else come look still not drained sink backing up etc. now beginning of Aug call it'll be 320$ just to come look & they keep mentioning warranty which I get it but it's literally exact same problem like clearly shit job. It's barely over 30 days & we spend 900$ the first time so taking my business elsewhere. Also the lady kept making me feel stupid like well it was June like That's so long ago couldn't possibly be there fuck up. read more

Well they got this deleted off Google reviews so I'm going to post it on every other review site that I can to warn people of this company's shady practices. BTW. They didn't bother to contact me to discuss my review. What I left on Google Reviews: "Called with clear instructions on what I wanted done. I needed a garbage disposal removed and the sink converted back to a normal sink. You'd think that would be a simple, quick job for a plumber, right? These guys showed up and had to do an ESTIMATE for THIS and wanted to charge me $696.17 for THIS. I thought it had to be a joke. To change out the disposal? $865.83! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA! I guess they thought since I am a woman I am an idiot. Took him a LONG time to come up with the estimate. I guess when you have to tack all kinds of costs on to get that number it takes a while. Anyway, what kind of plumber can't do a simple job like this the same day? Save yourself money, call Anchorage Plumbing and Heating. Didn't need an estimate. Came with the disposal, completed the work in under an hour, and didn't treat me like I was a cash machine idiot". read more

Can't recommend this business . One of their technicians came by to do an estimate on our furnace with a heating issue . They started to open the valves and checked the whole system. The furnace proceeded to leak water as soon as they left . So basically I paid them to make our situation worse. The stress and time I wasted having to clean the mess up is something I'll never get back . In order for them to come back, They wanted us pay for parts and service. Disgraceful rip off service . read more

Raven was amazing! she diagnosed our no hot water issue very quickly. She provided a solution, approximate cost and worst case scenarios. She didn't try to upsell us with new parts (though she could have and we would not have known). She ensured water heater was receiving correct voltage, current etc., and got us back up and running. Very professional, didn't leave a mess and knew our equipment. Definitely a tech that knows her stuff! read more

I have used this company for maintenance on several systems, forced air, hot water baseboard, and a newer space age energy efficient system. They have been timely, well priced, performed their service to a level of no further problems. The service people have given me a thorough run down of what was done and any problems. I would recommend this firm for regular maintenance especially before you have problems. read more

I recently had a boiler installed by Discount Mechanical, and my experience was far from satisfactory. From the very beginning, the job was handled unprofessionally, with multiple mistakes requiring me to call and request corrections and clean-up. Despite making three phone calls with no response, I had to visit their business in person to get any action taken. While the mistakes were eventually rectified and the clean-up completed, the installation failed the initial Municipality Inspection. This necessitated a third visit from their team to address the Municipality's concerns, resulting in additional time spent on further corrections and rescheduling the final inspection. Although the installation ultimately passed, the process was far from smooth. Upon returning from vacation, it was discovered that a zone valve was malfunctioning and the future piping for an indirect-fired water heater was missing on the return side. This oversight would have cost me several hundred dollars to fix later. During the fourth visit to replace the relay causing the zone valve issue, Discount Mechanical offered me a new motor for my garage heater. However, the problem turned out to be merely a loose screw, not a faulty motor. The proposed solution to my request for a partial refund on the $12,553.91 job was offering a motor I didn't need and then extending a warranty from a company I didn't trust. Additionally, the $159.95 inspection fee for my old boiler wasn't credited towards the new one. At least Mountain Mechanical credited my water heater disconnect appointment towards the cost of a new water heater. Discount Mechanical claimed they were "unable to offer a refund," but I believe they were simply "unwilling." I was extremely dissatisfied with their poor customer service, substandard work quality, and my declining confidence in their ability to do the job correctly. I prefer Mountain Mechanical, who identified the non-functioning zone valve, missing piping on the return line, and fixed the garage heater issue with a simple screw adjustment. They are a company with integrity that I trust to complete the job properly the first time. As someone knowledgeable about boilers, I hoped my status as a single female wouldn't affect the quality and integrity of the work. Unfortunately, I had to scrutinize the job closely, as it wasn't done correctly even after multiple attempts. From the lack of customer service, poor-quality work, misleading repair suggestions, and unwillingness to provide a partial refund for the issues encountered, I can only hope no one else experiences what I have been through using Discount Mechanical for home boiler replacement. read more

Showed up and billed me $330 and did nothing except walk in, look at a leak that I had stopped and told me they'd schedule the repair for later in the week. Honestly was there about 2-3 minutes. I felt like I was doing business with the 3 stooges. They told me they had forwarded my estimate to my home warranty so that the service could be paid through my insurance. When I followed up with the home warranty 2 days later they said they had not yet received an estimate or diagnosis report. When I called discount plumbing back they said they were having trouble sending it, Well why did you tell me you sent it two days prior?? So I asked them to fax it. They said they don't have a fax machine. Really? I had to have them email me and I had to forward the info to my insurance company. Well, then they only emailed me the amount they were charging me but not the diagnostic. I had to call them and request the diagnostic. She said the guy was on a job and would take care of that when he got back in from the field. I asked why didnt the diagnostic get sent the day you guys cane out. The response was we have never dealt with this home warranty company before. But isn't it a general custom to send the diagnostic with the estimate??? I shouldnt matter whether you have done business with the home warranty company in the past or not. Common sense! It's going on a week with no hot water. And they don't give refunds...ugh! read more

I requested maintenance for my furnace that had not been cleaned or checked in a number of years. The company sent Raven to complete the job. I thought Raven explained the problems she noted well and did not try to scare me into immediately replacing my 21 year old furnace. Raven arrived on time and presented herself in a very professional manner. She easily answered the questions I had and quickly discovered the reason the furnace was making so much noise. I was very happy with this service call and felt happy as I felt Raven explained all of the problems with the old furnace in a manner that was easy for me to understand. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend Raven as a great furnace technician. read more

I should have read the reviews prior to paying the $89.00 call out fee, I told them exactly what needed to be fixed, what parts were needed, took pictures of the cracked elbow and sent it to them. The guy came out and said this is a big job, this is a big job. It wasn't, draining the boiler was the "hard" part, it was not a big job, it was to replace an elbow and crimp a 4 inch piece of pex. They provided a quote with a 10 foot piece of pex, and gave me exactly what I told them was wrong in the first place for $89.00 that would not be applied the repair, that is just to get them to go to your place. Then the original plumber called me and denied he said it was a big job, (gaslighting) so I paid $89.00 for a confrontation and did not let them back to my place. I will never recommend or call them again. No integrity, and they should let you know it isn't time and materials, they make up what they are going to charge you. read more

Parts are 2x or 3x expensive and lie about shipping speed. I cancelled my service and called Alkota, the mechanic came and knew what was wrong in less than 15mins and they didn't charge me for the visit! They had to come back 2 times first time they said the back house had no electric had to tell them to push the button on the socket in the room. Then they stated they don't do drywall repair I said OK I can find someone to do it and they don't do electric but they have someone they work with. The electrician never called or showed for the job. I called a separate electrician to do job. That electrician stated there is a significant whole that needs repair and the closing flap for exhaust is missing for outside exhaust from a fan out of the box?? The poor tenant did not know any better thought it was just going to be repaired so she never sent me pictures (now I know better thought she would have said something). I had tenant send me pictures. I called DM all they had to say was it is on our invoice we don't do drywall and your on recording that the tech told you it was a square fan that I provided going into round whole. Maybe that would be the time to say it's just not a little repair maybe you should get a different fan if the whole is that big?? My experience with contractors they are suppose to suggest what would be best and not trying to be mean but I was driving cross country talking to this guy who had such a thick accent I could barely understand him. I have never seen a contractor and the current one even said he would never leave a job like that and he don't do drywall either but he would not leave a job like that. I will never use them again for them and electrician over $800 and now I have to pay someone $650 to fix it properly. read more

1st off the so called mechanic was working on our heating unit and I told him if the tahoe need to be moved if he was going to be taking or move parts out. He said no just cleaning out the fan. Next thing you know he takes the fan out and drops it on my car leaving a huge indent on the gate. I seen him drop it and not once he said anything, so I said let me move the car, He said yeah its gonna be a min. Still havent said anything about the indent. Moved the car outside and took some pics and just pissed that this happened. Went in to inform the so called mechanic and he said oh yeah it was just a " little scratch." I said hell no its a damn dent and some scratches. He came outside and said oh thats not bad. "I know a guy" smh. I said I dont care who you know. I know a cerified shop that you guys will be paying to fix it. Called the office to let them know the situation and they said they will called in a few days. Bullshit. I went in the next day due to it being late the day before and showed them the damage. No pictures were taken and the so called owner had the nerve to offer me 500 cash to make it go away. This dumbass must be stupid and uneducated to think someone would ever take it. 2 months laters finally gets it to the shop. 2 weeks later car is done but... Scam mechanical didnt call the shop to pay for it. Even after the shop called them 3x that day and all they said was the manager will call back. Bullshit again...I called the Scam mechanical at 419pm that I need my car out after their fuck up and it just needs to be paid for. The not so bright lady on the phone said, "oh well I can have my manager call you tomorrow because they are out of the office." I said nope I am not leaving here until your manager calls here to pay the shop today not tomorrow beacause I need my car. 20 mins later we are out of the shop. We were forced to use Discount Mechanical for a 2nd Opinion because our HSA Warranty didn't agree with the cost of the first plumber's diagnosis/repair estimate. Our water heater was leaking, had already caused significant damage to our basement, and Discount Mechanical said they could come out on Tuesday to do a diagnosis. This 2nd opinion was ordered on a Friday morning. They finally were able to "squeeze" us in and showed up around 4:00 pm Friday. As of 12:30 Saturday afternoon, they still had not submitted their diagnosis to HSA, despite multiple calls from us and HSA. In the meantime, our water heater continues to leak, with us having to vacuum water out of a shallow pan every hour to try to prevent further damage to our basement. They are untimely, unreliable, and unresponsive to calls, with no consideration of their customers' needs at all. Do not recommend this provider. read more

On 9/17/21 set up an appointment with this company that I was not familiar with through my HSA home warranty. I was told they were the preferred company to use by the HSA rep on the phone. I have two semi-functioning toilets, one is leaking, and two toddlers so when they set up my appointment 11 days out I was anxious but accepted it. My husband and I made several arrangements to be home for this appointment. They called me the day before the appointment to tell me they wouldn't be able to help me until October 28th 2021, which is more than a month away! So unprofessional and a complete disappointment. Additionally a huge waste of our time. I would give them zero stars if I could. I will be requesting that HSA pick someone else for their preferred business. Ridiculous service! read more

Terrible company!!! They supposedly inspected and signed off on our house prior to our purchase. Few weeks afterwards the heater has problems and home warranty company sends same company to inspect. The inspector finds burnt gaskets, wires, and flame marks on the heater. He states, "don't know how anyy one can miss all this problem with the inspection,, the person who inspected it did not even open the heater to check" but sign off on it. I have had several experiences with Discount Mechanical recently, mostly through my Home Warranty company (which uses them). First, I needed my toilet repaired. I had to schedule 3 appointments: one for the diagnostic, the second for the toilet replacement, and the third because the guy who replaced the toilet did something incorrectly. Each plumber was unprofessional (one did not even introduce himself). The guy who replaced the toilet told me that "we don't do caulking," so my husband had to caulk the toilet himself, as well as remove the caulking from the old toilet. I consider that to be uncompleted and lazy work. Next, we had to have our furnace replaced. After being home from work (all day) to supervise the furnace replacement, the guys blew the breaker box. They said that since it was their fault, the company would pay for an electrician to come out and fix it so that they could then come back and complete the furnace (this was after I requested that this be written down, since the invoice they tried to give me stated that the work was "complete"). They never called me to schedule, so I called back in a few days. The owner informed me that the technician misspoke and that I would have to call my home warranty company and make another claim for an electrician to come fix the breaker. Overall, I did get my toilet and furnace fixed; however, it took me six appointments (during which I had to take off work a total of 28 hours to meet Discount's appointment time windows), constantly confused and misinformed technicians, administrative assistants, and an unbelievable number of phone calls. I will not be using this company again unless absolutely necessary. read more

I was forced to use Discount because of HSAhome warranty. The initial visit went fine and Scott accurately diagnosed a broken heater. He told me a number of ways my new heater could be installed and wasn't decided on which way they'd do it. After the estimate was submitted I was notified I would have a large out of pocket cost. This was not all Discounts fault as HSA has ways of making sure they cover as little as possible due to verbiage. What made me ultimately decide on getting another contractor was the lack of answers for some of the costs in the estimate. They quoted me 2-3x what venting costs, as well as attempting to gouge me on a scissor lift rental and "complications" charge. The technician explained to me that the complications cost was an undetermined amount that was necessary for the technician to work from and orient themselves to the equipment. Apparently Discount technicians do not know how to work from or operate scissor lifts and the charge is something that is unquantifiable. After pressing him on what the charge was for the technician said its just what it costs and he didn't have the exact costs of what equipment or supplies would be, even though those should be transparent. He then proceeded to try and convince me that they don't make money on these jobs because of HSA flat rates and that I was "holding him hostage" by asking him what costs were that I would have to pay for out of pocket. The lack of candor and caginess on costs is the main reason I would never recommend anyone use this company if they have a choice. They didn't seem to mind that half the cost would be out of my pocket and weren't remotely interested in helping me find ways to mitigate that. Their costs "are what they are" and you should just accept that at face value. read more

My heat started working intermittently in October. Discount Mechanical charged me $135 to come out and tell me nothing was wrong. When my heat stopped working for good a week later they came out and replaced the circuit board. Even though they said they wouldn't charge me for the call itself, that bill was still over $650. My heat went out again last night (it worked for a month). I started leaving messages this morning when they first opened but never got a call back. In the meantime I got someone else out to fix the furnace (and tell me why my heat wasn't staying on). I called DM to tell them I didn't need a call back, but I kept getting hung up on. I'm not sure what happened there. I finally got hold of a woman with the company and she was was rude. As though it was a real bother that I was calling. Worst service company I ever used. We used this company because our HSA warranty offer them for us. First time we have problem with a gasket in our shower tub. I tell them to check it. And they said that it's not a problem that we need just put some caulk around shower switch. Like the fact water start leak again on first floor when they left. After they send third guy, that guy finally replace gasket. From the small problem they made a huge mess. They took a part of drywall from the selling on the first floor and I need to wait couple more days painters to fix it. Now I have problem with water boiler (with a pilot light). We wait more than a day when first guy came. He spend around 40 min ain't do nothing just laying on the floor and watch on the light. Than we wait 2 more days when they found new thermostat. It take them 24 min to replace it and they charge our insurance company $937. This total rip off even I didn't payed nothing from my pocket. And after that, in a same day, pilot light vent out. read more

Horrible communication all around. After the technician showed up last night w/ no parts in hand to fix my water heater (previously ordered), I was told that the Manager Scott said I could make an appointment for anytime today that worked for me and he would be here himself. I chose the "first appointment this morning", to which I was given a 1030 time. At 1030 w/ no tech/Manager at my house I called the office to be told Scott was in a meeting. I asked when he would be here for my 1030 appointment, I was placed on hold. Office staff came back on the line and said Scott just left to the warehouse to pick the part up, he would then be to my house in 25 mins. WHY did I even make an appointment!? WHY did the tech/Manager Scott say he'd be here at 1030!? Why did the tech/Manager Scott not pick the part up before my appointment!? Why did I have to call the office earlier in the week (Tues/Wed) to check & see if the part had arrived yet, only to be told it had!? How long was this part sitting there prior to me calling!? This place needs to accept accountability and fix all the things wrong w/ it. Who runs this crap show & where is the over site!? Unacceptable customer service and half-fast mechanical service. I certainly wouldn't choose this place if given the option. Unfortunately, for me I have a home warranty and they contract w/ Discount Mechanical. I assume my home warranty contracts w/ the lowest bidder, and in this case you absolutely get what you pay for.... read more

The only reason we used Discount is because it's the only way our HSA home warranty would cover the repair of our Instahot. It took them several days to get back to use after we contacted HSA, then we got rescheduled because they had a more urgent repair to do before us. Once they finally came, they determined the item couldn't be repaired and needed to be replaced. They were to get approval from HSA within a day but they just never called us back. over a week later we were able to get in touch with them and then it's another week an a half before they can come to replace the item. it has been over a MONTH to get a very simple fix completed- it's not a large or expensive appliance.. if we hadn't hounded them about it we probably would have never heard back at all. I don't know if it's because the repair is going through our warranty or what but it seems like they just don't care in the least. I'm very unimpressed. read more

I had a horrible experience with Discount mechanical and would recommend staying away from this company. I called because I had a clogged drain.
