After dealing with a persistent plumbing issue that two visits from…read moreanother company failed to resolve over a span of months, I finally called Alaska Sewer & Drain. I'm so glad I did. Their technician, Keenan Laird, was everything you'd hope for--courteous, fast, knowledgeable, efficient, and incredibly effective. Keenan quickly diagnosed the real problem and had it fully resolved within minutes. No runaround, no wasted time--just professional service that gets the job done right. Highly recommend Alaska Sewer & Drain and especially Keenan!

That being said, after trying to use their services recently, I will never go through this company again. The lack of communication, customer service, care, and/or regard for my time and money is eye opening, very frustrating, and disappointing. My recent experience: I scheduled an appointment for the 11th for my flooding utility room. Tenants can not use their washing machine until this is fixed. They said they'd contact me 30 minutes prior to arriving and they could show any time between 8am-5pm. I really needed this done, so had taken the day off of work. At 4ish-pm I called them and said the job takes at least an hour to do and "I still haven't gotten a call from anyone... is anyone coming?" They tell me there was a "family emergency" and they'd have to cancel. Although frustrated, I could see that being out of their hands, and understood. However, I had to call them to find out they weren't coming, and reschedule myself. The soonest they had was a week out! I need it done, so I agreed to the date. We rescheduled for today the 17th. Again, they'd call 30 minutes in advance, blah blah blah. Not only, has no one called to say they are or aren't coming but I have called them twice to make sure I was still on the list for the day and ensure I wouldn't be missed or rescheduled again. Both times, I was told their dispatch would call me back, and I've not received a single call. Like last time, I took the day off of work to meet them here. It is already an expensive service to have done, but I'm also having to take time off of work to be here, costing me even more money. I'm not sure why it's been so painfully difficult to work with AK Sewer and Drain this time around. I did learn they're managed by a comapny based out of Illinois now. Im not sure if that was the case a few years ago, but the drastic difference in customer service is astonishing. I will not be using this company any more, I am so beyond frustrated. A friend recommended I call One Stop Services in town. The owner's daughter answered the phone on the third ring! Due to the plumbing problem I'm having she had me speak with her father (the owner) to ensure the correct service was scheduled. He was very kind, funny and personable, and they got me scheduled for tomorrow morning! It was SO EASY AND SIMPLE, just as it should be. Awaiting tomorrow's service outcomes with One Stop Services, I might be taking my future business there moving forward.

Septic Pumpers are big business in Alaska where most people have septic tanks. Some of the fun…read morenames in the business are JR's Pooper Pumper, Turdinator, and Royal Flush (with the playing cards on the side). We picked Shamrock because they put up super huge, cool holiday displays outside their business on Halloween & Christmas that the kids and I never miss!!! Phil, the foreman, did our tank. He left us with a detailed information sheet telling us what the problems were and what was okay about our septic system. He also gave us advice on what toilet paper we should use and what the best toilets are, as we are planning to replace ours in our 26 year old house. Not only are these guys "Johnny On the Spot", even if you call them on a Sunday night expecting to leave a message, they answer the phone. Sort of embarassing at 10 pm but they were still all business. They are priced competitively from around $200-300.

I'm writing this review to possibly help someone avoid a problem. technician showed up stuck hose into septic tank started the truck suction then went and sat in the truck. (Usually they monitor and work the hose around to get as much solids as possible). my previous paperwork Showed I have a 1000 gal tank guy said he got 1300 gal. He proceeded to back flush that putting some hopefully mostly liquid back in then he changed the hose back to suction and attempted to move the hose around sucking out the back flush only to find out the hose was stuck. there is nothing in a tank other than a baffle to keep solids on one side of the tank. All I can figure is by not monitoring the hose an excessive amount of hose went into tank and somehow got stuck on the baffle. The guy Fought with the hose for about 45min pulling and twisting. It finally broke loose. After removing hose I could see it was a little more than half a hose length (seemed like a lot for 1000 gal tank). Guy said he was afraid to put hose back in to remove back flush but would only charge me for 1000gal not 1300gal. I think this situation could have been avoided. So I paid for a partial pumping and possibly damaged baffle.
