We contracted Mountain Mechanical to install a gas line to our detached garage and install a garage heater on August 28, 2025 for $7,500. We were required to pay half of the balance up front and the remainder at completion, when the garage heater was connected and operating. Mountain Mechanical completed the initial install on September 10th and assured us that once the municipal inspector signed off on the job, they would complete the connection to the garage heater. We were required to pay the balance due, since Mountain Mechanical assured us they would complete the job after the inspection. The municipal inspector failed the job and Mountain Mechanical did NOT address the failure for 6 weeks, because "they got busy". We were out of town during this time period, however, there was a house sitter to provide access to the garage whenever requested. Mountain Mechanical took advantage of the fact that we were out of town and pushed our job down on their priority list, because they were paid in full. When we returned we contacted Mountain Mechanical to address the leak found by the municipal inspector in September. The second inspection also failed. It is now November 5th and we still do not have a heated garage. Plants and belongings in the garage are now subjected to temperatures below freezing. We do NOT recommend Mountain Mechanical for any work other than an routine inspection. read more

We scheduled a furnace inspection for Oct 1, today. When we hadn't heard anything we called and were told we weren't on the schedule at all! Not today or any day. This was really inconvenient as we rescheduled some things to be here for the inspection we thought we had scheduled. Not cool! read more

Mountain Mechanical just completed the big job of replacing all the 70 year old cast iron water pipes in my house. They did an excellent job and finished the job in two days. They problem solved dealing with old pipes and old walls with great skill and kept their sense of humor throughout a sometimes frustrating and challenging remodel. They cleaned up after themselves and walked me through the new system afterwards to make sure I didn't have any questions. I've used MM for several issues over the years including a new boiler and water heater as well as smaller problems and they always do an excellent job. I highly recommend them. read more

My parents (both in their 70s) purchased a new on-demand water heater 2 years ago for a little over $10,000 from Mountain Mechanical for their home. One year after it was installed it stopped working and took over a week and half for them to get it working. They did not charge because it was within a month of the warranty. But now after only 2 years it stopped working again but this time they were charged over $700 to repair it. I highly suggest people do their research when selecting a business. These systems are supposed to last over ten years so this seems ridiculous. I would definitely not recommend Mountain Mechanical. read more

Called out for broken water pipe between my 2nd floor and third floor bathrooms. Pipe had burst and Mountain Mechanical Took care of the repairs in short time at a Fair price. After my ceiling caved in. No Thanks to State Farm insurance that gave Me problems with coverage from start to finish. I finally repaired the Sheetrock, tape and knockdown texture myself. We called Mountain Mechanical to evaluate a CO leak from our boiler. After discovering we needed a new heat exchanger, their technician, Gene, left after 15 min to start the warranty process ($350 callout). After a few days without heat, we ended up calling our boiler's manufacturer to find out no photos had been submitted, nor was the claim followed up on. We did this ourselves to speed up the process. Once the part was en route, we called the company to get a quote for the work. We were told $2290 as a flat rate - they specified they are a flat rate company - and that the job would take 6-8 hours. This equates to roughly $375 per hour. This seemed quite high, so we requested more information regarding their pricing structure (their competitors run around $160/hr). We were told this was simply the price for the labor and the technician's time spent calling the boiler manufacturer (which we had done a good portion of). At this point, we had been without heat for a week. We found an open appointment with Anchorage Plumbing & Heating for $160/hour and told MM we were thinking of taking our part to them for the install. They entertained the idea, but wanted us to pay them for their technician's time spent on the phone, which apparently, they have hourly charges for instead of a flat rate. When we requested the technician's call logs to justify the fee they wanted, they suggested we use another company in order to keep things amicable. In the end, we obtained our part from MM and used Anchorage Plumbing & Heating. They did the job in 2 hours for $333. I will never use Mountain Mechanical again. Between the hassle, ridiculous price and amount of attitude we got, they are not worth the call! read more

So let me tell you my experience with MM over the last fe months. It started with some faulty wiring with my old system. It was memorial day weekend, I know right, it couldn't have happened at a more inconvenient time but I digress. So I happen to come home early from a camping trip and when I got home I noticed that my circulation pump was running. Didn't think anything of it till the next day and found that not only was it still on the system was radiating a lot of heat. So I called MM and was told that one of their service people will call me back when they were on their way. Matt (owner) called me back within minutes and instead of just coming out and charging me a hefty fee, Matt did kind of a triage with me over the phone. What he was doing was trying to save me money by helping try and figure out what was going wrong and maybe fix it myself. Unfortunately we weren't able to figure out over the phone. Matt came out and was able to find the problem right away. It was a wiring problem that if left any longer could have been pretty disastrous (meaning possible fire). Fast forward a month to June and now I'm in the market for a new system (mine needed updating was 15 years old and it was a Munchkin). I attempted to get quotes from three different companies one was the company that did the original install, one was considered the top rated company on the Home Finder app and of course the third was MM. Well to cut to the chase, the first two failed to follow through with their quotes (meaning I never got them!). Once I decided to go with MM I called to set up the install date told them what I wanted and thought I was all done. Well a few minutes later I get a call from Matt and he lets me know that the water heater I chose although very good was very expensive and excessive for what my needs were and offered and alternative which would in turn save me $600! Of course I went with his recommendation. Here it is August and just had the install only took one day (sooner than projected). Matt and one of his employees were very professional and thorough. I called Mountain Mechanical on three separate days, during normal business hours, before I was able to get someone other than the emergency after hours answering service. When I finally spoke to a non-emergency message taker, I was told they only clean dryer vents during summer, and they wouldn't accommodate my work schedule, even though I would be home with ample time for the heating system inspection before end of normal business hours. My job doesn't allow me to take time off work to wait for a plumber for preventive maintenance. It's obvious Mountain Mechanical really doesn't care about having my business. I called a reputable competitor who was happy to accommodate my work schedule and willing to clean vents in seasons that aren't summer. They will be my go-to plumber from this point. Mountain Mechanical will not be under consideration in any season. read more

Last week a tech came to replace 2 sump pumps (provided by me) and re-run the pipe from the pumps, streamlining the route the pipe took out of the house to have a better grade. I was told this would most likely take over a day. The tech was at my house for around 4 hours, leaving twice for materials. The first time for an hour, the second time for 2 hours. He arrived shortly before 9am and left shortly after 3pm for the day with job complete. He charged $1550 for the work done. After requesting a detailed invoice from the company 3 times, i finally received one which stated he worked 8 hours, charging me $140/hr. I requested that 3 hours be credited back to my card and was told no. I have spoken to several people in the industry who have told me that i was grossly over charged. Manager was not helpful and told me that it took the tech 2 hours to go get a piece of pvc pipe, after he had already gone and got the pipe earlier for an hour. Even if i was charged for 3 HOURS to pick up materials, the total hours worked still would not be 8 hours. I am very disappointed and feel taken advantage of. To say that it costs $1550 to do what was done in my crawlspace is laughable and unethical. Highly recommend using a different company. This whole experience left me in tears and feeling horrible. read more

Dealing with the joys of owning an older home. This time it was the kitchen faucet and a mixer valve issue resulting in noisy toilets. Keegan and Robert came out and installed a fantastic new faucet and quickly addressed the mixer valve. Glad the old faucet wore out! They were on time, explained what was going on with the toilet noise, and provided two options to address the mixer valve in the future, plus an estimate. Also, called ahead to let me know when they would be at the house. Everything done in less time than I expected and the kitchen left nice and clean. Curtis is great to work with as well for annual furnace maintenance and carbon monoxide checks. Very thorough. Although MM seems to have a bit of a bad reputation around town, I've been using them for years for minor and major repairs/installations for both plumbing and HVAC and haven't had any problems. They have shown up on time, acted professionally, and the prices have been reasonable (perhaps a touch higher than others, but for the other two attributes that's ok). read more

I had an excellent experience with Mountain Mechanical. Being a new homeowner, I am still getting familiar with all of the strange noises my condo makes. I decided to take a bath and started hear this scary hissing sound, like something was catching on fire. So I go and investigate the closet where the sound is coming from and it appears to be the water heater. When I bend down to look at it, the front panel is halfway off, giving me a glimpse of glowing orange flames. I immediately freaked out and called Mountain Mechanical. A very friendly guy came and checked it out, then explained that I had used up all the hot water and the hissing sound was cold condensation dripping onto the heater. The glowing orange flames, which are normally blue, were leaping around with the hissing because the drops of condensation would momentarily interfere with them. No safety issue. Seeing how shook up I was, he stayed and had me turn on the heater, listen to the sounds, and then explained those too. He even prepared me for ticking sounds from the baseboards in the winter. I will be calling them again to schedule an inspection, and will keep their number handy. read more

I called Mountain Mechanical to replace my bathroom faucet by the sink plus replace an old garbage disposal/grinder and a plumber showed up and said that I had to pay $1,400+ for the materials and labor. Because, of the amount I was quoted was too high, I went to Home Depot myself and purchased the Delta faucet for $32.98 and garbage disposal for $109.00. After I have all of this parts, I called my very trustworthy realtor named Mary and she told me to call Best Plumbing and Heating for the installation. All of this was finished in less than 2 hours and did an outstanding job. After everything was said and done, I only paid less than $200 for the installation on both faucet and garbage disposal. Now, get this, Mountain Mechanical said that it will take about 2 hours to replace the garbage disposal alone, which I know he was bullshiting me. I saw the red flag already when the plumber named Mike quoted me $1,400+. Never again I will do my business with them again. read more

I used Mountain Mechanical to install a new unit. I have had them out numerous times and each time they blamed the unit saying it was bad even though it wasn't even a year old. Had to use another company to fix their mistake(bad plumbing by them NOT unit). They are not professionals and are scammers. The company we used said they were fixing a lot of other peoples units that had been installed by them. Save yourself time and money and go with another company!! I call them for my leaking sink, and they fix the one leak but didn't fix the other. So in short there are multiple leaks. I call them back and make another appointment and of course I had to take time off again from work. They came and said this time it's the faucet the causing the leak, and then said they don't have time to fix the leak and call them back once I have the part!!! I was like I took the time off and make an appointment with you and you're telling me you don't have time!!! What a freak!!! And he want to charge me again for labor to put the faucet in after I paid $300 just for labor not even 2 hours!!! Problem that wasn't really fix. I said that's why I called you to diagnose and fix the problem and now you will charge me again! In fact they should have caught the other leak if they tested it but they didn't it was me that noticed the next day!
