I used Dial because of their positive Yelp reviews and because they had a Yelp coupon. I had inadvertently locked the door to the laundry room in my new apartment and couldn't jimmy open the lock. I called them and they arrived within an hour. The person they sent said that I could just bust it and not incur a fee but since it is a rental, I didn't want to do that. He was able to open it without difficulty and suggested that I don't install a new one since it was not required for that door. I appreciated his honesty. He did seem annoyed that I was going to use a coupon but his tip was based on the overall price and it was prepaid via a credit card. I would recommend them without hesitation. read more

My experience was not great. Someone other than Tal was sent to help. The locksmith came with only 1 lock...so we had no choice but to take it if we wanted to have a lock on the door. From the moment I moved to Kew Gardens, I saved their number in my phone. Initially I went there because I needed several copies of the keys made, and while I was there I had a few questions on locks and the installation of new locks. All my questions were answered thoroughly, and I vowed to come back after my apartment was renovated to have them change the locks. Alas, time got away from me and I never had a chance to go back. Then one cold winter evening in mid January, I finally made myself put away all the Christmas decorations while pathetically humming Christmas Carols at the thought of Christmas being over. As I dragged my tree out the door while singing "The 12 Days of Christmas" I got so distracted by the song that I didn't realize I didn't have my keys with me when I shut the door behind me. So there I am, clad in pajamas and a sweater that had my car keys in it, but not my house keys, holding a dying Christmas tree at night on a Sunday in the freezing cold. I ended up driving to my parents place, and used their phone to call Dial Locksmith to help me out. By the time I got back to my place, Tal was already there. He picked my lock quickly, and happily gave me options on the spot when I mentioned wanting to change them out. Basically, it took me getting locked out of my apartment in the winter to finally change my locks. I called this place and the guy who answered Tal was very nice and professional. I told him I needed a top lock installed on my door that can't be broken into. He told me he'd bring a few different options and we'd take it from there. He arrived in less than an hour, showed me what he recommended and also reminded me of the yelp discount. I was locked out of my apartment and needed a professional locksmith to pick a bottom lock. My roommates were out of town and the super of the building was not available. I should have planned for this emergency since I tend to get locked out of my home and car alot. Based on the general reviews, I thought I was getting a deal. When I called the location, they took my address and phone number. I told them that I was locked out of my apartment and not my building. I will be waiting for them in the lobby. The person on the line repeated my address but repeated the wrong address. I clarified the address. They replied "oh, ok. Locksmith will be on their way." They hung up before I asked prices. I should have called back and asked. My phone was running low on its battery and I wanted to conserve the battery. Locksmith called 15 minutes later. He said he was here and mentioned the wrong address. The person on the phone gave the locksmith the wrong address! I gave him the correct address. He said he will be on his way. (I should have said looked for a different locksmith at that point!) After an hour later, the guy comes. He looks at the lock and says it's a 5 tumbler lock and he can't pick it. He is going to have to drill through the lock and replace it. It's a $75 for the service, $100 for labor, and gonna charge me $50 for a new lock and keys. ( WHAT!?! What kind of locksmith doesn't know how to pick a lock?) I told the guy that I don't want damage the lock. He is gonna try to breach the door and charge me $175. I gave him an old credit card. Guy was really nice and was very professional. He drove all the way over so I waited for him to breach the door. As I was waiting for him to breach the door, I figured I check to see if the super was here. Luckily he was here and I was able to get into the apartment. The guy couldn't get in my apartment at all. He said he learned how to breach thru the door without breaking the lock from the army. I felt this guy was working for this company because this the kind of work he can find. He charged me only $50. He said he only takes cash even though they supposedly take credit card per the company profile. Well, I went to get cash and the guy was ok with that. I didn't try to haggle the price because I'm sure he had to give majority of the money to the company he worked for. I am giving the 2 stars for the guy because of his professionalism. I felt scammed by the company because they aren't trained and just try to take advantage of those who are locked out of their apartment. I am not going to this company and wouldn't recommend them to anybody. I hope that guy learns the trade and finds a better company to work with. read more

I needed a new and better lock for the door to my apartment so going out on a limb due to Kevin C's review, I called them up. I was given the price of the lock options on the phone and then how much the service cost (which was pretty much the normal price based on what I've seen online for multiple services). Joe arrived the next day, installed it for me and put extra care into making sure that everything clicked closed and open smoothly. I've had previous experiences where the locksmith didn't do a great job lining everything up so we had to jimmy with the key to get it to close or open. This guy made sure that didn't happen. $200 for mul-t-lock + jimmyproof deadbolt (the one with the flat blue topped key) $40 for installation service No hidden charges, price on the phone was the same the next day. I originally used them on referral and although I think it was a little expensive for what I got, Joe did a good job of installing new cylinders. He told me that the deadbolt would eventually need to be changed. Fast forward 1 year later, called them to replace deadbolt. A locksmith appeared but his paperwork had a different name on it from a different company, same as another reviewer stated. I called Dial and their explanation was they have different letterheads. I feel they sent a different company to do the job and they tried to overcharge me for a cheaper lock. He only had the one so I cancelled the job. Still charged me $20 for call. read more

This company was fast, very professional, and very very courteous. I really can't stress how courteous and kind the woman in their office was. We had several phone calls back and forth, and she was just a pleasure to deal with. I locked myself out of my apartment at 8 pm last night, and they had staff on call that made it my place in barely 1/2 hour. The pricing for an after hours call was not bad at all, and in fact was quite a bit cheaper than other local companies. They are a nice mom and pop local Queens company that has a store selling locks and equipment as well. I highly recommend them! The key from my security door broke inside cylinder. I called dial locksmith , explained my problem. The man on the phone told me he will send someone within 1/2 to 45 minutes. When locksmith guy arrived (Tom) he changed my cylinder and made new keys, in addition he fix my door that apparently had sank a bit lol, so he needed to drill and make adjustments!! Doorknob to home was not working. Couldn't get in or out. I called them and they were at my door within a half hour. The locksmith, Tal, repaired the knob. A new knob was not necessary; he didn't try to upsell me. He realigned the latch so that it would move with the knob. I thought he was honest and friendly. He even guaranteed his repair for 90 days.
