That alone was concerning, but it got worse from there. They only did work in one room, which they stopped painting the ceiling a foot away from the wall and it is very noticeable. We were then told the complete job would be delayed, and it ended up being put off for two weeks. During that time, we had already moved all of our furniture out of the space, expecting the work to be done--so we were left living in an empty living room for no reason. On the day they were finally supposed to come back and complete the job, which I had planned to show them the poor painting finish, they didn't call to discuss, they just emailed us and said they believed the cracking might be due to a structural issue and that they were no longer comfortable doing the work. At that point, we were back to square one after weeks of inconvenience, with no solution and no accountability. The lack of follow-through, poor communication, and last-minute cancellation made this a very disappointing experience.

I wanted to replace the silicone seal in my master bedroom shower and also seal the grout as the mildew was becoming a weekly chore. Andy arrived on time and was very courteous and friendly. We could carry a conversation as if we'd known each other for years. We had an immediate rapport and that's always helpful in a working relationship. Andy got to work right away on the shower and I noticed he had all the right tools for the job. It took several hours, but he worked diligently and quietly and cleaned up afterwards. Ultimately, the shower looks brand new again and I shouldn't have to worry about any further maintenance for another five years. I was so pleased with the work and how smooth things went with the shower that I decided to hire him again the following week. I needed to replace my garbage disposal that was jamming frequently before it was beyond repair. I grabbed the disposal I wanted from Home Depot and Andy came by a couple days later. Again, he took his time and was super quiet during the install. We came across a small issue with the setup, but he brought it to my attention immediately and asked me how we wanted to proceed. Home Improvers are great quality craftsmen, very professional and very responsive…read more The Home Improvers crew (2 guys - both of whom were very professional) installed new mounting blocks on the outside of our house for 3 new lights we purchased. The new lights were larger than the "old school" exterior lights that were on our house so they didn't fit the 4 in x 4 in mounting blocks the house was built with. I looked into installing new mounting blocks myself but quickly realized I was in over my head and that it would take me a lot longer than I expected to get the new lights installed. Fortunately, Yelp search for handymen near me connected me to Home Improvers who responded very quickly with a ballpark estimate. They came out the next day with some mounting blocks that had taken them a while to find (had to visit 3-4 home improvement stores to find them) and even those were a bit too small. So the guys *custom made* 3 mounting blocks. They securely attached the mounting blocks (perhaps even trimming the siding to ensure the fit nicely... hard to tell now that they are installed so nicely.) They also caulked and painted the mounting blocks, installed the new lights and used clear silicone around the lights to ensure they were water-tight. We'll definitely call Home Improvers again for our next home improvement items (including tile work, handyman services, etc.) They were very personable and did a high quality job.

His estimates are generally in the same rage of other bidders. He has completed each of the projects usually when he has forecasted it unless supplies were insufficient. I have included pictures of 3 projects he has done for me. Project 1, he installed wall tiles, hardware, plumbing and a shower door. Project 2, installed wall tile and the plumbing for the Master bathroom soaker/tub. Projects 3, cut, sanded, stained, clear coated red oak 16ft hand rail for a 15 and 16 set of stairs. His accuracy, attention to details, use of advanced tools was demonstrated with identifying one of the walls of the guest bathroom was not straight/level and he made the appropriate modifications to fix the wall before he installed the wall tiles. He works very hard and cleans up when he finishes. You get a knowledgeable, quality mind and consciousness contractor that keeps his word and meets or exceeds your expectations. He conducts himself as a professional and you can see it in his work.

I'm hesitant to recommend Cuong and NCCONSTRUCTION - but only because I want to keep him all to…read moremyself! Cuong is the best, seriously: very reasonable pricing, extremely hard-working, honest, dependable, fair - I didn't realize contractors like this exist. I almost made a huge mistake and passed on Cuong originally because it didn't seem like he could deliver on what he quoted (he was so much more reasonable than other contractors), and he is very unassuming: quiet, no pressure, fast and easy - - so I thought there must be something off. Man, am I glad that about a year later when we circled back on our ADU remodel, Cuong was still willing to work with us (even when other contractors we originally consulted with bailed, or didn't even have the courtesy to respond). Again, he was so nonchalant about his ability to do the work that I had my doubts, but he immediately proved us wrong - to say the least. Cuong got to work right away. In the space of just a couple months he transformed our ADU from a dated and ugly, unusable space, into an amazing little home, which we furnished and rent now. I was (and am) incredibly impressed by Cuong. He is not someone you need to press to do the right thing. He is independently motivated to do the job the right way, and to work efficiently. He would ask to work weekends just to stay on schedule; he would pick up materials for us; and he was flexible and available when we needed him. *Note that the only thing he doesn't really do is design. He will consult on small things, like where to put outlets, or how a door should open, but I would not expect him to design and build. Provided you have your design and vision though, the man can execute. It is a pleasure to write this review and to share our experience, and I think our results speak for themselves (which I've posted before and after photos of). I wish Cuong and NCC all the best; although I'm sure we'll be seeing them soon on some of our many projects :)
