My building management hired Dial-A-Bug to provide special services to my apartment after restoration work gave rodents access to my apartment. Having mice can be extremely invasive, overwhelming and even depressing. I had three maintenance workers try to resolve the problem with no luck. But after Dial-A-Bug serviced my apartment, no more mice!!! The Dial-A-Bug Tech (#62 James) arrived on time. He walked into my apartment with an air of confidence that he would resolve the problem. Unfortunately, I was still sceptical. He started his work by giving me safety instructions pertaining to the solutions he would be applying. Then he gave me an overview of his plan of action. His communication made the experience professional and comforting which built up my confidence. He proceeded to work and was extremely thorough. He checked every nook and cranny in my apartment for holes. He even had a small mirror with an extendable arm to exam hard to reach places. Within 15 minutes I heard him say "I found the point of entry." Music to my ears! He finished up and concluded his services by sharing information about the sealant dry time. I have water bugs. Because of Covid only the basement was treated. The water bugs were still around. Dial-a-big came back and charged me a third of the original price. This time the first floor was treated. The waterbugs made it to my second floor and the front hall. They would come back but charge me again at the lower price. I said they failed to kill the bugs. Man, I evaded them for 8 years but every New Yorker's worst fear finally caught up to me last month. 99% sure that the source was a stretched canvas with a wooden frame that my boyfriend and I picked up off the street and decided to stash under my bed until we were ready to use it. I've always been very selective/cautious about street freebies but didn't think about this one as a risk (lesson learned -- wooden frames/artwork make great hiding places). We both started noticing an alarming amount of bug bites about a week later -- more than we could attribute to summer mosquito season -- and as soon as I thought about the framed canvas, I wrapped it up and tossed it to eliminate the source. But, clearly something was still hanging around and the bites persisted so I let my (fantastic) super know that I was pretty sure I had the beginning of a problem. Our building works with Dial-A-Bug for routine services so they were also the ones he called to coordinate an inspection. Spoiler alert: these guys solved my problem very quickly (the whole process took about two and a half weeks from the initial inspection to the second round of treatment) and made what I was afraid would be a nightmare situation into what felt like a very manageable one. No time was wasted at all -- when the inspector came to see what was going on a day or two later, my friend, who had kindly agreed to meet him at my apartment and let him in, accidentally locked both of them out of the building. With my permission, the inspector managed to !!!climb in through my window!!! (first floor perks) to avoid having to reschedule the appointment and let the problem worsen. Eternally grateful to this man. After looking around for a bit, he found one bug in my room which meant they would proceed with a full on treatment of my bedroom, my roommate's room, and our living room. A detailed checklist was left behind outlining everything that would need to be done before the first treatment (put literally every item in those three rooms in sealed plastic bags, run every piece of clothing/all linens through a super hot dry cycle, take everything off the walls, remove outlet covers, disassemble our beds and prop them up against the walls, etc.) to ensure success and, again, gave us a reassuring sense of control. On both treatment dates, the exterminators showed up within the time frames that were agreed upon, were friendly, and got in and out pretty quickly -- giving my roommate clear sets of instructions about what we needed to do along the way. Since the two treatments (which were just a week apart), I haven't seen any new activity or bites and am confident that we no longer have a problem. I'm so thankful to this team for both their great communication for their effectiveness at doing what they do. 10 stars if I could. And PS. if you find yourself reading this in the midst of panicking/shopping for options -- I promise it's not the end of the world (I didn't have to replace my bed or any other furniture!) and well worth calling these guys to help. Better to err on the side of caution and call in the pros sooner rather than later. read more

I had a mouse problem in my building, and had no luck with other exterminators until I called Dial A Bug. The technician was on-time, very professional and helped trap the mice and disposed of them. He also did a full scan of the building and knew where to fill in holes when necessary. I am highly disgusted and disappointed with this company. I had a Peggy from their offices call me twice today - the first time she wasn't so bad. She told me the next appointment she had was during Monday through Friday between 9-5 - unfortunately I work for a living and couldn't comply. Once the management company of my building approved a Saturday visit she called back and was by far the NASTIEST person I have come into contact telling me that I should be happy because I'm lucky to get an appointment - I'm sorry, the last time I checked she was getting paid for a service and the only way I should be lucky is if it wasn't costing anything. I then called back to file a complaint, which PAUL, (very nice man) took but said Joel (Peggy's manager / boss...etc) was busy and he would relay the message - not quite sure if that is going to happen. So with this all said where else should I go but on YELP to voice my disappointment with the customer service of this company - I've already put in a call to management to express my disappointment. Dial-A-Bug should be called Dial-A-Ripoff. We called them to remove a persistent rodent problem. The guy came out, sealed some holes in the walls, put down some traps and called it a day. A few days later our furry little friends returned. We called the exterminator back, got no answer and left a message. He never called back or returned to review his shoddy work. Because Dial-A-Ripoff failed to seal the deal we were forced to pay ANOTHER exterminator who thankfully understood the fine, yet simple, art of neutralizing pests. Now that I am at Moda, I started using them again this year for preventative maintenance as well as issues any other service I may need. They are very efficient. Received a phone call from them ... I assumed it was a routine check see if you have bed bugs but the technician told me it was because of a complaint by someone in the building.... ??? Way confused since because of Covid no one has been in my apt except me and bf ... He checks one bedroom I assume no issues ... but hes condescending... I don't see any bed bugs yet ??? Ok ... he goes in my second bedroom and says he doesn't want to break anything??? Confused ‍ ok I don't want you to either he looks around the bed and just stands there I'm watching him he's watching me ??? Dial A Bug is the sole pest vendor of my Uptown co-op building. To comply with the policies of my building's co-op board and management company, I hired this firm to inspect for bed bugs. The technician entered the apartment, proceeded to throw all my couch cushions, pillows, blankets, etc. onto the floor. After a very cursory inspection, the technician found no evidence for bed bugs. He left everything on the floor and was gone. Two months later, I am again dealing with this firm as my board is paying for a bed bug treatment. Everyone working the telephones at this company needs customer service training, professional etiquette courses, and conflict resolution education. Peggy is combative, argumentative, and prone to interruptions. The others I've spoken with are no better. Because this is the pest contractor approved by my board, I am forced to again seek out their services. I would really rather go with another company. Do not hire this outfit- vote with your wallets and perhaps this company will shore up their abysmal operating procedures. I don't know how this lack of professionalism is tolerated or how this company remains competitive. Go elsewhere. read more

Peggy and Ricky are the best- I have been using them for years. My management company doesn't abide by the law that requires an exterminator be sent every month, so I am constantly dealing with roaches and mice, and Dial A Bug comes to my aid every time. Peggy always gets Ricky to my apartment within a few days of my call and is extremely accommodating with my busy schedule. Ricky does a great job laying traps, spraying, replacing poison in my existing traps, etc. and is polite, conversational, and always explains everything I need to know in great detail. My roommates and I had set an appointment a week ago for someone to come by between 10-2. I have had to call numerous times to ask the status of the exterminator, and at one point they had no idea where he was. The girl on the phone wasn't very helpful and seemed to be annoyed that I was checking up on the status of the exterminator. I had Cinema check out my apartment. She is such a pleasant, sweet pup and her owner was very professional and helpful. They came within hours of my call and were very accomodating to my multiple phone calls and urgency in the matter. I also like that their canine division is separate from pest control: it seems that it is much more professional that way. Did an absolutely incredible job--communicative, responsive, accommodating, thorough and so, so helpful! They brought a canine twice to detect the bed bugs in our apartment and even our car. Were incredibly accommodating when we asked to changed treatments around because of our child. And were very communicative about timing of treatments. the woman lucy lied,,,she sent a man over to my apt for beatles,,instead he used a clear gel for ants,,the mans name was andy,,,,this woman lucy swore by him and said he is the best she has,,,,,,well not even 1/2 hour later i am still infested,,,so a few days later they sent another man over,,,he sprayed and sprayed for 18 minutes,,,,,,well 3 hours later more beatles, they are small like ants but they are discusting to see in a kitchen,,,,i called my exterminator he came over with a can of raid,,,,,yes raid,,,,and guess what,,,,,,all gone,,,this company is not good at all ,,i never use them for my apartment i have my own exterminator,,,,,read the 311 reports and see yourself,,,,my building is infected,,,we did have a great company they fired his company and hired a cheaper one,,,now we are infested for years, yes years,,,,my building is owned by residential management in brooklyn,,,never use this dial a bug, never use lucy, they are horrid read more
