I'll address the staff issue first, I've never ever ever had an issue with any of the employees here. They've all been very nice, very accommodating and very helpful. And I don't think it's just because I'm a familiar face, I honestly think that's just their ethic. There's been quite a few times that they don't have specific things that I need, and all the other hand, sometimes they have what other big box stores don't. So it's kind of a gamble. Generally the things they don't have, are for one of our houses that is super old. I've been an ace rewards member for probably close to 20 years. I'm constantly getting discounts via the app and coupons sent through the mail, and I've also been able to compound all of my rewards points, with other special offers. One time I came in here and I bought $40 worth of stuff, and with all the discounts, and knocked it down to just under 13 bucks! The best hardware store!…read more Sometimes I can find the apecial things I need that NONE of the big box stores stock, like 36" watter supply lines for a bathroom sink! That staff is always on point, helpful, greet you, the whole nine yards of customer service. They have that down to a science. I try to go here and support the local ownership, and the pies are magnificent. Online ordering for delivery or pickup is polished and fast. Bix box stores, take note.

This year I picked up a hat with good coverage for my son's. Along with some souvenirs, my son wanted to bring home for his friends (Truckee stickers). Besides my positive experience, the store seems to have just about everything from grills, too fishing gear amongst other things that you would carry an Ace Hardware store. He received all the help he needed, but my experience was completely different. The moment I picked up an item in the camping aisle and handed it to my husband, who was carrying the basket, I noticed employees watching me. One employee kept their eyes on me for over 10 minutes. It got to the point where I had to make eye contact and stare back because I felt so uneasy. As a brown Asian customer shopping with my Caucasian husband, I couldn't help but feel like I was being singled out. The employees were constantly talking on their radios while watching me. They may have thought they were being subtle, but it was obvious. Whether intentional or not, I was left feeling as though I was being treated like I was stealing, and it completely ruined my shopping experience. No customer should leave a store feeling singled out or uncomfortable. This happened roughly 2-3 weeks ago, and I haven't been back since. Even though the store is only about a minute from my house, I refuse to shop there again. There are plenty of other places that know how to treat customers with respect.

I come and and the guy rings the bell for will call. Wait 5 minutes and no one comes. Ring again. Someone comes. He spent 10 minutes trying to find my order and couldn't. Then I had to wait 15 minutes in line and then someone wrote up my order and I went to pay for it. They told me I had to drive somewhere a few blocks away to pick up my items. Fine. I did that. And I get there and they say they are out of stock of 3 of my four items. Why did they just sell me out of stock items and not tell me. Now I have to call on the phone and convince them I didn't actually get the three items I paid for and they need to credit my card. I didn't have the time to drive 2 blocks and back wait in line again. Update: they don't take phone calls on the weekend, even though they are open. !!?! And all of this took an hour, which should have taken less than 5 minutes and completely messed up my whole day of scheduled events.

Ordered and paid for carpet and install. The day of supposed install, the supplier gave the…read moreinstaller the wrong color. Re-order, move all furniture back into the rooms. A few weeks later, correct carpet arrived, move furniture again. Installers did a great job but error-(supplier) did not put enough carpet into the order the order was short. Currently sitting with one lovely room that is carpeted and a master closet with no carpet. Repeat calls to get an answer on status. Very difficult to reach anyone for help- 15 minutes or more for a phone that rings or dropped into a queue repetitively, until finally reaching someone in the store for help. Informed carpet ordered to finish job- mid-May at the earliest to have a job completed that was initiated in March. Nothing more than a "sorry for the inconvenience". Once is a fluke twice is a pattern. I hope that the supplier issues are resolved and no one else has to endure this comedy of errors. The Installers (Reno Flooring) have done a great job and have attention to detail. Installers are very nice and they did their very best to complete this project. I feel sorry for the installers- this probably cost them valuable time and money too with these supplier issues.
