We lease a home in Irvine from a very nice owner who has been very responsive to repairs and maintenance issues on the home! A bit less than a year ago the owner replaced the AC and the work was done by DGL! The new AC system has never been totally right and recently it stopped cooling at all! DGL has been out on more than one occasion and just can not seem to get the system right! Nice enough people but there seems to be a disconnect in their ability to service the systems they install or even possibly install them correctly in the first place. I am not qualified to answer that question or I would have installed it myself and saved the owner some $. I am not one to post many reviews whether they be good or bad! Unless really warranted. Since a new HVAC system is SO COSTLY to replace and almost as bad to repair I just feel compelled to let people know to be very cautious when choosing a new vendor. I am sitting here looking at my AC that is leaking so badly I can't even enter my bedroom. I called Gene (the business owner) 3x in the past and Kalonji (who was the nicest guy ever) never could get it right, sadly. Not only that, but they increased the price by $4000 upon installation. It's really unfortunate that I spent almost $15000 on AC only to have one break so many times. I know sometimes it is just the timing but I called DGL Air Conditioning on Sunday Labor Day weekend with temps over 100 degrees and within 1 hr I got a call back that Gene would be able to perform a holiday, emergency call that afternoon. DGL was recommended to me by an instructor at the National Comfort Institute who was teaching a class on how to properly design and engineer duct systems for proper performance and air flow. As an insulation contractor I was thrilled to finally find someone to work with who took the time to take proper readings and gather relevant data on a home before making recommendations as to what equipment or duct design system would be optimal. Every other AC contractor I know uses broad, rules of thumb (which I learned from NCI are highly inaccurate) like "You want one ton of AC for every 400 sq ft of living space" and "You want one Cubic Foot per Minute of air flow per square foot of a room for proper air flow." Gene creates a detailed diagram of the entire house, including precise measurements of windows, doors, interior and exterior walls and even overhangs shading the windows and inputs the data into highly revered software program that gives custom recommendations often radically different from what would be suggested by going by these vague rules of thumb that are sadly so widely accepted in the industry. As he was showing me how he gathered the data I asked "Is it really important to be quite this precise?" His response was "The more accurate we are with the data the more accurate the recommendations and the better the result for the customer." As it turned out the homeowner we were doing the work for was astounded at how much more balanced the air flow was throughout the different rooms in his house. Gene actually guarantees if you follow his recommendations there will be no more than a 1-2 degree difference from one room in the house to the next. And he actually delivers. read more

I called DGL to get a quote for a mini-split system for my home in Long Beach. Reza, in the office, was wonderful, followed up twice to make sure I got my appointment on a Saturday. Gene came out on time and went through my needs, but was a bit argumentative about what I wanted, when I had already sent him the specs before the appointment. He promised a quote within "a couple of days". I never received a quote. I would never do business with a company with such poor follow-through. AG Air installed my system 5 days after I gave the go-ahead and it's wonderful! I'd still be waiting for DGL. read more

Owner of the company arrived on time, and seemed like he knew what he was talking about, spent 2.5 hr. in and out of the house. Bottom line said there is a leak, he would have to send me a quote and call with the next appt. available. Did put some coolant in, which latest 2 day of minimal use, charge $380 and never called back, even after waiting a week and sending a reminder. So we went through DGL via Lowe's. WORST MISTAKE MADE SINCE PURCHASING OUR HOME! 1ST They trashed part of my yard because they did not want to put the equipment on the 30 by 30 concrete pad where they were going to be installing it. 2nd they were about to put a 3'×4' hole in the entryway to my house for the intake. Which wouldn't be a big deal except there's a hallway where it could be placed discreetly next to it. After about three other callbacks due to the air conditioner breaking down two times as well as another issue with the heat I have now had to call multiple times to get the hole in my roof repaired because they don't know how to set out the exhaust from the roof. I would go as far as to say this is been the most unpleasant purchase of my adult life. read more

I had my new system installed by DGL in October 2015 including new ducts. I am so happy with my new system and the service DGL provided. I have also had my unit inspected and done the 6 month maintenance twice in 2016. Both times the technician that came and service the unit was Chris who is excellent! I had Gene come out to repair my A/C after another contractor sent out an inexperienced tech who didn't wire parts correctly on my A/C unit & they tried to sell me a new A/C & furnace. Gene was very professional & was able to repair my it. A/C is working great now! Wish I would have done more research before wasting time & money on that other contractor. read more

DGL installed my AC & Heating unit and did a good job, however, when I called them about a problem that occurred two years later with my thermostat, they didn't even return my phone call. This was after speaking to the service coordinator twice. I live in Los Angeles and I believe they did not want to deal with making the drive. Followed behind this company to check on the quality of there installation. Very clean and professional work. The unit was operating as the manufacture designed. The ducts had very little leakage as it is near impossible to have none. The equipment and system were delivering 98% of the cooling they generated into the home. I had DGL installed a heating and AC unit late in 2012. As a standard, I got multiple quotes and I thought their pricing was competitive based on the sizing of the unit that I needed. The owner, Gene, and his staff were very professional and did a fantastic job and provided excellent services. They were very responsive to my questions and provided me with updates to the rebate that were offered at the time. Gene even sent out tax credit information to the clients, which I was not aware of, so that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, they did an excellent job and I would highly recommend DGL. read more

Complete lifesaver. Saved me over $6000. After having two companies come by, spend less than five minutes looking at my unit, and tell me it was too old to get parts for and quoting me to replace it, I thankfully called DGL. They were prompt, showed up same day, and extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. After flushing my drain line and seeing the blockage and tons of water come out, it was clear the only thing that needed to be done was clearing the drain line and now things are back to normal everything working perfectly well. Only $200 and that was with overtime for a Sunday night! A bargain! Certainly easy to take an uninformed consumer and bang them for a brand-new air conditioning unit without even looking into what could be done to fix it, and thank goodness companies like DGL are out there doing great work and putting the customer first. DGL Air Conditioning & Heating is the only contractor who is part of the SCE A/C rebate program that services Inglewood...or so I thought. After calling and asking if they serviced Inglewood, I scheduled an appointment for them to come out and give me an estimate to replace my furnace and install A/C. They called me 3 times to reschedule the time of the appointment which I accommodated only to call me a 4th time at 5:45pm the day before my 10am appointment to tell me they don't service Inglewood. This is the second contractor who has decided at the last minute that they don't service Inglewood and I'm sick of it. What they didn't know is that 3 of my neighbors wanted to speak with him as well about having their furnaces replaced an adding A/C. So maybe DGL doesn't need the money but they lost out on more than just my business. I will also be letting SCE know they should update their records that DGL doesn't service Inglewood. read more

We had our AC/Heat system completely redone in August. DGL gave us as many options/estimates as we wanted (5 I think). They had good suggestions for more efficiency. Work installed correctly - we have been enjoying AC for two months and heat ran great today. City and State signed off on various permits/environmental requirements. Staff professional, friendly, no swearing and respectful. Cleanup was good. They patiently answered any and all questions during the process. Only tiny issue is sometimes it took a bit to get a phone call back but that improved during the process. One of the things I REALLY appreciated are that ALL of the small fixes/adjustments we asked for were completed without extra cost. read more

These guys are great. Last summer a tech came to fix my AC compressor that would not start. He did a reasonable fix and then at my request stayed longer to answer all of my questions about air flow in different rooms of the house. This summer again my AC was down, this time not circulating the coolant, and they fit me in on short notice between jobs, and the boss came over and fixed my compressor. Again with a reasonable fix and zero, absolutely zero pressure. The boss was super friendly and hit it off with my 3 year old. He insisted on wearing cloth booties over his shoes when he came in the house. After the repair he stayed a few minutes and coached us on how to improve the efficiency of our system. Unprofessional. DGL scheduler (named withheld) carved out 11AM on 08.14.2012 for Technician Andrew to diagnose my failed central air conditioning unit in Irvine. Allowed 2 hours for the Technician to show up. Past 1PM, my call to DGL revealed that Andrew was sent to an emergency service call in Foothill Ranch. I received NO courtesy call to advise me of the delay or the change in DGL's priority schedule. I missed work myself to attend to these inconveniences...my central air con quitting at the dead of summer exacerbated by unprofessional business practice like this DGL experience. I acknowledge that DGL's loss of my business is not even a drop in the bucket in its potential repair services' revenues amidst this heatwave. I recognize that there is a long customer line behind me awaiting rescue from failed cooling systems.
