He said he could replace it for $450 but I would need to wait until the following Tuesday. He said as long as it did not have collision sensors or heads up display it was only $450. I confirmed it did not, but told him it had a rear camera using the rearview mirror as a constant monitor. He said no problem. I stayed three extra days in DFW and take it to his shop on Tuesday. Even as I gave him the keys I ask again that he could definitely replace the windshield for $450 which seemed extremely cheap compared to the other quotes. so I grabbed my bag and walked down to the nearest coffee shop. Larry calls about 10 minutes later telling me the windshield he has in stock is chipped and needs to go to Fort Worth to get a new one. It will take an additional hour. I said no problem as long as we can get it fixed that day. Well, he then proceeds to call back 10 minutes later telling me that the rearview mirror that has the camera monitor takes a special mounting bracket. And the windshield that contains the special bracket is $900 installed. Well, as put out as I am by the terrible service so far, this makes sense considering the other quotes were $1000 and $1100. Once the windshield was installed I noticed that the plastic cowling along the front of the windshield was not flat like it was on the original windshield (pics attached). Larry tells me he can fix it but I will need to bring it back the following week for him to "tape it to the new windshield". I do not live in DFW and I have already waited around four extra days only to save $100-$200 over the same day service as Safelite. So at the end of the day, as I said, the glass seems fine, but it is not OEM and the cowling is not flat as it was on the original windshield.

I took my Model X in to get the front windshield tinted on 7/31 and paid $688 after tax. I know…read morethat the windshield on these cars is complicated to tint given the size, but the quality of the install on my car was subpar to say the least. Even worse was the customer service I received after pointing out some quality issues. I contacted the shop the next day after seeing that there were some very noticeable light gaps in the tint, as well as some overall shoddy craftsmanship in multiple areas. I had to speak with the shop over the course of 4 different phone calls as the owner, for some reason, was using one of their employees to speak to me as the middleman. After all of this back and forth, they refused to take accountability or offer a reasonable solution to fix their poor work. They offered me 2 "solutions" along with countless excuses as to why the install was up to their standards. Their "solutions" were to: 1) Install a black vinyl stripping to cover the light gaps - essentially putting a bandaid on the issue. 2) Reinstall the tint but the shop wanted to force me to sign a document stating that I would accept the second attempt before even seeing it - giving the shop a free pass to potentially do an even worse job and giving me not choice but to accept the result no matter how good or bad it turned out. A few of their excuses as to why this was a quality install were: 1) The gaskets around the window were too tight and there are going to have to be light gaps. It's "impossible" to get a flush fit with this vehicle. 2) The clarity of the install was great (mind you, I never once brought up any issues regarding this) and they were worried the second job might not be as good. 3) They were worried that debris might get under the film if they tried again. I was willing to give the shop another shot at making things right and reinstalling the tint, but I wasn't willing to be strong armed into signing a document accepting the work before inspecting it again. As the shop did not seem to want to take accountability, I asked them to then remove the film and refund my money as the quality of the job did not reflect the $600+ they charged me. I was then informed that "all sales are final". Horrible job and horrendous customer service. Stay away unless you want to be gaslit into thinking that this type of subpar work is somehow acceptable.

I was able to get scheduled within 48 hours and they gave me a two hour window to fix my vehicle. From my two experiences with them, (they had to return to fix an unrelated crack from a rock), they typically arrive on the tail end of that window they give you- just an FYI They didn't offer me military discount, but that's OK because after doing some research, they quoted me a very fair and already discounted price. I hope I will never have to see them again, but I will call them if I do!
