Having a DewPoint water purification system installed in our house is the WORST decision we have made. For starters, the sales technician assured us that DewPoint would be pulling the permit for the installation (they did not) and that they would have a licensed and qualified plumber do the installation (the guy they sent completely screwed it up -more on that later). The sales representative left us with a copy of the finance company's paperwork, but not with an actual copy of the sales contract. He promised he would email the contract to us, but never did even though we called and asked for it repeatedly.
The unit was installed in July 2019, and we just assumed everything was fine until around October when we started to notice a sewage smell. We called the city out, thinking it was an issue with the pipes, and they found the smell to be caused by the DewPoint system, which was not only sloppily installed, but also violates health and safety codes. Basically there is a tube going from the DewPoint water purifier directly into the sewer pipe with no back flow device to prevent the sewer gasses and water from going back into our drinking water. Not only is this horribly disgusting and potentially dangerous, but the company actually tried to argue and say that they don't need a back flow because the unit itself filters all the bad stuff out, blah blah blah. The back flow, according to the city building inspector, is required by law and he said that any licensed plumber doing installs like ours should have known that already. Which lends to the idea that DewPoint probably went with an unlicensed or unqualified plumber as a way to cut costs. Furthermore, the city employees also informed us that DewPoint had not pulled a permit for the installation as they had promised us they would do.
At this point, we called DewPoint to tell them what their installer had done and with the hopes that they would make it right. Instead, they were extremely rude and told my husband that their sales contract specifies that we were responsible for pulling the permit for installation. We told them that the sales representative (who we referred to by name) had told us that DewPoint would pull the permit, and that we had never been provided with the sales contract, despite asking for it several times already. The representative we spoke to on the phone continued to condescend to us, and even got snippy and asked why we had called the city out. We finally got him to agree to come out the following week and to pull a permit to install the back flow and make this right. But they did not come out or pull the permit as promised, and now we just want them to remove the water purifier and give us a refund.
When I called to ask them to remove the unit and give us our money back, the same representative was just as rude and tacky as before and refused to help us. He said the unit is ours, that they won't take it back and make this situation right, and kept implying that I was lying when I reminded him that what they had put us through so far was fraud since they had lied and failed to provide us with any sales contract and that the installation was so poorly done that it is a potential health hazard.
Don't buy from this company! There are other companies that can install water purifiers that won't cut corners. Don't waste time talking to DewPoint. It's been my experience that they will lie to your face and then say you are the liar when something goes wrong with their shoddy installation. This is a shady, disreputable company with the absolute worst customer service. You absolutely can't trust this company to do right by its customers! read more
