You…read morealways want to find the local gems in a region, and this past weekend we found just that in Water Street Bagel in Syracuse, NY. The place was bustling, all seats taken, people standing waiting on their order, and others dashing in for their carry out orders. There's good reason for that, the food, the coffee, the service, the vibe was all excellent. Inside is clean, simply decorated, and everything from the food to the kitchen is visible. It's simply part of the decor. We purchased some bagels from the previous day, some breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The coffee was bold, rich and fresh. The bagels delicious, all of the sandwich parts cooked to perfection. There's a friendly, warm vibe inside that extends from the staff and is entrenched in the food and coffee. Just a fantastic place for bagels and, I have to admit, NY bagels are next level. If you're in Syracuse, I highly recommend you make sure you make Water Street Bagel one of your stops.

Here is some information I gathered during my visit: Parking - small open lot in front of the shop but they have additional parking in the back. I stopped by on a Thursday around lunch and three other cars were in the front lot. Service - this shop doesn't seem offer a dine-in experience, it's more of a grab and go. The blonde lady behind the counter was cordial and helpful in my selection. Food - as soon as I walked in I noticed the glass cases full of delicious looking pastries. I practiced self control and only purchases one cookie. For lunch I bought the stuffed bread (their lunch special) with pepperoni. That stuffed bread can definitely feed three people. Price - my stuffed bread plus raspberry cookie all came out to $7.95 with tax. This is extreme reasonably priced considering how big the stuffed bread is. I'll definitely be coming back to try some more pastries.

You can get coffee drinks, sandwiches, salads, cakes, half moons, donuts and more. We ordered a blueberry donut, and half moons. Other people were ordering drinks, baked goods, and lunch specials. They have daily specials at the deli counter; today is Friday and the special was Mac and cheese. This place is conveniently located in the village of Manlius and has plenty of parking. I can't wait to come back here to try more of their baked goods. The half moons were delicious and fresh. They opened 2 days ago and they're only using their kitchen in Utica to bake products. So they had sold out of a lot of items when we arrived. It was still amazing and very fresh. We'll definitely be back!

The chicken & waffles was said to have a hot honey maple syrup, but there was no heat to the syrup at all. The chicken was chicken tenders, which was fine, but they did not have a very good texture - they were somewhat rubbery and full of tendon. My wife enjoyed her biscuits, but her, and the rest of the table, agreed that their home fries were undercooked and grainy. We also tried their Lucky Charms special latte, which was good. The waffle is literally made of spaghetti like the pressed a pile of spaghetti into the waffle iron. The sauce is sweet with chunks of tomato which I like. The chicken parm piece was good but a little small. 2 entrees for $30 so reasonably priced. The people are very nice and thr various options mean of course we have to go back.
