The service, as roth m. said, is more of a "swarm" service. Appropriate, considering how packed it is, abuzz with activity and the fact that you get to even watch the cooks in the kitchen concentrate hard on making and tossing dough in the kitchen. It almost feels like you're in a beehive. My brother and I went here to eat just before going to see The Civil Wars in concert across the street. Yeah, we waited for 30 minutes in a "foyer" the size of a beer can to be seated, but Dewey's restaurants are among the most popular in Greater Cincinnati, hands down. And for good reason: You have so much to choose from in size, toppings, and even red or white marinara sauce that practically each pizza and panini made there is custom. With real ingredients...or at least a crap ton of artificial preservatives, but I sure hope it's the former. The pizza isn't quite as good as a few other true local joints I've been to in Greater Cincy and Lexington, but it's up there. Every bit deserving of four stars. read more

I'm an outsider to Cincinnati and I'm used to New York style pizza. At first, I was skeptical, since LaRosa's is cardboard, Donatos is... well... it's better than LaRosa's. Dewey's was fantastic. Ok, it's not the fire-baked goodness I was expecting, but Dewey's delivers. It's great pizza. Their marinara sauce is good. The white sauce is a garlic butter sauce, which is different than the ricotta/garlic/butter sauce of the northeast. I'm a fan of the Wild Mushroom. The calzones are good too, and one will more than fill you up. There's plenty of toppings, so you have virtually unlimited combinations. The calzones are pretty cheap too. Lastly, the salads are good. There's no iceberg lettuce (that I remember), the portions are plentiful. And the have a new salad relatively often. Having a pint or two of beer from a local brewery definitely makes this place even better. And to make everything slightly better, Dewey's is engaged with the local community and gives back. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that there's a better place in Cincy to go. First off the customer service here is better than any pizza place I've ever been to. From the phone order I did to make my carry out order, to the nice lady cleaning the glass on the entrance door that held it open for me to let me in, to the 3 people that greeted me as I looked for the bar to pick up my order, to the nice manager lady that took my payment and offered me a drink. The food was done fast. I ordered a large 1/2 Dr. See and 1/2 Cuban pizza. (They will half and half anything you want which is cool). The pricing was great for a large mixed specialty pizza. $21 and some change. The crust is light and New York style thin. The toppings are okay. There's not a lot of cheese on the pizzas (even though one pizza I ordered had two types of cheese). Still is a very tasty and easy to eat pizza. If you live in the Norwood/Hyde Park area, I would say it's a touch better than Mellow Mushroom and better than anything in that area. Adriaticos still has my heart....and stomach. This is my favorite pizza in town. The food has been consistent every single time. The service at this location has always been attentive and professional. This is also a popular location for families with children. My favorite is the Billy Goat pizza. I swap out the green peppers for spinach and it's fantastic. For those who love leftovers warmed up, throw it in a big frying pan (no oil), cover it with aluminum foil on relatively low heat until the cheese softens up. The calzones are good here, but the thin crust pizza is even better. Lots of places do 2 or more crust styles, but here they do one crust, the thin crust, and they do it right. The sauce is perfectly balanced between sweet and savory. Most people seem to like to order one of the named combinations, like the Green Lantern or the Edgar Allen Poe, but I generally like to order any one of the meats and a couple of veggies, whatever sounds good at the time. I have never had a bad pizza there. I have split a salad a few times with a friend and these are also very good I worry a little that as they add more locations, the quality will suffer, but this hasn't happened yet as far as I can tell read more

Favorite pizza place in Cincinnati, hands down. The gourmet pizzas here are fantastic. My personal favorite is the Southwest BBQ Chicken Pizza, but there are plenty for meat and veggie lovers alike. The salads are actually just as good as the pizzas, so you can abate any pizza-related guilt slightly by starting with something green. I highly recommend the House Salad--the toppings aren't that novel (goat cheese, dried cranberries, and pine nuts), but they come together in a beautiful way with the flavorful balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Here's a tip: if you're dining with someone else who wants the same salad, order 1 large instead of 2 smalls and ask for an extra plate (same amount of salad, save $3, and they're happy to do it). Good for dining in or carry out. If you're dining in, the beer and wine selection is decent and they always have a seasonal draft or two. Only bad thing about this location is the small parking lot fills up fast. If that and the nearby metered spaces are full, you can also park in the car wash lot across the street after 7pm (you will be towed from other lots). read more

So yes it's a chain, but yet Dewey's seems different to me. This location is a little hard to spot. Google maps has it on the opposite side of the road, in the median. Just look for the awning. The door is on the side of the building off the alley/parking lot. Not the door in the front. The staff here is all incredibly nice and helpful and fun! They'll explain things to you if you ask, and if not, they'll find someone who does! They're very attentive without being overly in your face and annoying. They're almost perfect :) The only thing I don't like about this location is 1 that it's hard to find the darned place, and 2 the pizza window isn't where it can be viewed well from the dining room. I mean the window is over half the ambiance of a Dewey's!! But overall, one of my favorite Dewey's. read more

The Ryan's inferno was absolutely the BEST- a white pizza with Gorgonzola and buffalo chicken with a perfectly made soft, chewy crust, while the Bronx bomber was delicious as well in its unique way- with sausage, mushrooms, olives and pepperoni toppling over a red sauce on the same crust. We split a pizza with half green lantern and half meatball, and we each got a salad- he bf got the house and I got the seasonal blueberry salad. This is my favorite pizza place in all of Cincinnati. I regularly go here with my family and get carry-out at least 3x a month. Their specialty pizzas are extremely unique and incredibly tasty, my favorite being the Ryan's Inferno. A must-have if you are a fan of buffalo chicken. Dewey's has quickly grown to become my absolute favorite local "chain" restaurant of any type, but especially pizza (yes that means it's better than Larosa's, Skyline, Gold Star, Angilo's, whatever you want to put against it). Their menu is awesome, full of inventive pizzas, well-executed classics, some DELICIOUS salads (and the in house dressings are awesome, try them all), a variety of appetizers, and a pretty damn good beer and wine selection. This here is the original though, and still the best, despite what I would call seating limitations, I have never had an unpleasant experience at Dewey's. The prices are a little high, and I will only sometimes spring to pay that premium, but literally everything else about the restaurant is premium too. From the food, the "open-kitchen" giving the kids a bit of entertainment, right down to the service - everything at Dewey's is truly worthy of a five star rating. read more

We ordered a large pizza from the Oakley Deweys half Ryan's Inferno and half Socrates revenge, the pizza is always delicious!!!! But they never seem to put enough toppings on it. Kinda stinks when you are spending $23 on a pizza. The Socrates revenge had plenty of olives but only 1 spinach leave per slice and only a few tomatoes. We still dug in and ate it though! Like I said always delicious but so so so skimpy on toppings. It seems just to be this location. But we live so close we will always be back and their salads are THE BEST! read more

There was a long wait at the Oakley location, and even though I called in an order to go, it was difficult to find a spot to wait. When my pizza did come out, it was just okay. For the 45 minute wait, I expected it to be done well in the pizza oven and not undercooked. If you prefer a pizza thats slightly chewy and not so much on the crusty side, you'll be good to go. Dewey's pizza is orgasmic, simply put. I have to get my "fix" at least twice a month at one of Dewey's several Cincinnati locations...but I most recently (yesterday, actually) visited the Oakley location. Everything at Dewey's is great, I've tried a number of their pizzas and salads, but my all-time favorite Dewey's meal is as follows: A glass of Pinot Noir (the name escapes me but the location only has one Pinot offering currently) ordered before a side Peppercorn Ranch salad-although Dewey's has many delicious home-made dressings, the Peppercorn Ranch is the absolute best. Follow the salad with a Green Lantern pizza. This pie from heaven is made of Dewey's Red Sauce (spicier than your average tomato), garlic, mushrooms, goat cheese, pesto, and artichokes...all topped with a generous helping of mozzarella cheese. Dewey's never skimps on toppings and will more than happily bring you extra sauce for dipping, should you require it. For dessert, try one of the local Bonbonerie's delicacies...they change almost daily but I've had some amazing raspberry cheesecake at Dewey's before. If you really want to have a personal indulgence at Dewey's, skip the pizza and order a calzone (a bargain at $6.95) instead. "Individual" calzones are ENOURMOUS...average is a foot in length and four inches in height and stuffed with ricotta, mozzarella, and toppings of your choice. The best advice I have about this restaurant? Go to Dewey's HUNGRY. You can always take left-over pizza and calzones home, but Dewey's is really best eaten one time only. An additional word of advice about the Oakley location: the parking lot is too small for the restaurant, if you visit this place on a busy night (basically any night between 6-8pm) you may have to park across the street or on the street. I adore Dewey's, and this location is no different! And it's a great neighborhood and location...adorable Oakley! What a consistently delicious and wonderful place to eat! I've never once had a bad experience at Dewey's...it's my favorite pizza on earth!! We've brought out of town visitors to Dewey's on more than one occasion, and they ALWAYS love it! The staff are always awesome...so friendly and professional and on their game. I can't eat somewhere that the staff sucks...just ruins everything. Dewey's staff is just icing on the cake of an already...really yummy cake? Haha! :) We usually end up with our usual order of a peppercorn ranch salad and a southwestern BBQ chicken pizza...and I'm never disappointed in my order because it's phenomenal. :) We've also tried Ryan's Inferno and the Green Lantern, both of which I can heartily recommend. Each month they have a 'Seasonal Pizza.' It's their fancy way of saying , "It's the Special." These are always good. But it's so hard to choose because they have the most amazing pizzas. My favorite is the Billy Goat. Goat cheese and vegetables. Healthy, healthy. Well, for pizza anyway. They have so many to choose from. What I really like about Dewey's is how they accomodate the pizza choices of the group. They allow you to split a pizza in half and order different toppings,etc. So, you can still stick to nice individual portion sizes, please your fellow dining compadres and split the bill. We went to Dewey's on the way home to Columbus, Oh from KY. We went strictly because of the ratings, and we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and fast. We got a salad and pizza. The ingredients on both were so fresh!! We didn't have alcohol this time, but there was a bar. We plan on going back and taking advantage of all Dewey's has to offer. The last time that I went to deweys, it was about a year and a half ago and they had the Rocky Balboa pizza...which was awesome! It was basically a cheese steak pizza. Unfortunately, it was only seasonal. I had not been back to do with it since they did not have that pizza but recently I decided to venture in. And I'm glad I did, I actually decided to try something different and go with a calzone I had a pesto chicken calzone with mozzarella. it was a fanciful Trek through a culinary delight. Lol ok ok Food Network lingo aside it was pretty good :-) my friend had a salad, which was pretty big and the others shared some pizzas that were halved. The prices are middle of the road. Dewey's pizza is amongst the very best in the city. They made pizza fancy before there was A Tovola or Fireside. For this trip we did a takeaway option, which was a pretty good choice as there is always a good wait on the weekends. If you haven't had Dewey's, the sauce is kinda garlicky (that's a good thing) and the crust is buttery and the perfect mixture of flakey and chewy (how is that possible?!?!).
