Stayed here for a family trip and purchased 5 rooms all together. The stay was fine, although the staff was entirely disorganized. However, now that I have received my credit card statement I have come to find that I have been overcharged $1,500 and to make it even better, every time I call they transfer me to a number that rings forever or they say that someone will call me back immediately. The fact that a hotel that costs this much can overcharge you by that much and then not have the decency to work through it is shocking to me. Very disappointed. read more

This place was no four star resort. Wow... the organization and just customer service of this place was laughable. We came here for a wedding and were so disappointed. There is a ton of construction and burnt tree areas surrounding the ranch. I would go to Vail or Breck any day before every returning here. If you asked the front desk a question or anyone working there, no one knew what was going on. The only nice thing about this place is the setting and view from the back of the ranch. Booked a 3 day babymoon cross-country ski trip here. WAS SO EXCITED. Albeit no snow so we called to cancel 15 days before the trip. We'd put down $1000+. Renee answered and her computer was frozen, told me tomorrow would be the manager might be able to waive the $100 processing fee because a lot of people are disappointed about the late start to the winter and she got in at 11am MT and would manage it then call me to confirm if it was waived, or cancelled with fee. 1pm MT still no call, she picks up doesn't remember me and forget to process it. She then tells me the rules are very very strict (what happened to the $100 being waived?) and that it's not $1000+ the full rate because now I'm within 14 days to the reservation and I needed to call by yesterday not cancel on the computer...(which is what I did, this is misinformation and instruction #1). I ask if I might put it towards a future visit when there is snow hopefully before our first child comes in 3 months? She say no. I ask if there is a manager I might be able to speak with to try to create some amicable solution that caters to their needs as well, that we really want to come, and asked if she could help support me in creating something that would work out for everyone? She says the manager is not available, and would say the same thing she is saying (she drives this home 2-3 times), and in fact if I let her cancel me now she can do it for the $100 instead of the $1000 but threatens if I talk to the manager he for sure will definitely charge the full $1000 because their policy is VERY strict. She offers his voicemail. Before the close after a few hours, I try again. Justin the "Revenue Manager" she forwarded me to never called. She picks up again and says predictably "He's gone now won't be back for 3 days, Monday". I say no problem, we can chat then! Let's process that cancellation now for that $100 deal (even though, it's not really a deal because had she processed the cancellation when I called instead of telling me to wait till the next day, there would be no leverage of threatening the $1000 fee!). Fib #1 - The manager when he's there might be able to waive the cancellation fee. Fib #2 - She then says "let me go see if he's still in his office". I decline because by now, her word has no integrity or truth. I say No thank you. I will take his call on Monday, like you originally said "he's left". I'll go with your original answer. Fib #3 - she originally said if we process the cancellation now, there's no going back no manager will overturn that. Before we end the call, she warns that if I talk to him, he may impose the full $1000+ fee again. So which is is? Easily changeable fee or set in stone fee once we process the cancellation? Justin and Renee - we are still ecstatic to come potentially visit your facility some day. Hoped to apply the fee to a visit this year once there is snow. No hard feelings, and I get you are strapped for "Revenue" as the Revenue Manager and the slow-start to the winter. I'm happy to support you and still bring you my first time business and take this review down, if you'll be as generous as I'm being in seeing things from the other party's perspective. If revenue is your main goal, then let me apply it to our stay that we are just looking to postpone so we can freaking enjoy all the winter wonderland magic you supposedly offer! We were going to fly in from out of state and spend lots of money on spa treatments, dinners at the fine dining, recreation and tell all our friend while making timeless memories as the last few months we have as childless people. read more

This place is in a great location. The views, trails, etc. are magnificent! We were there in October and got to see the first snowfall, it was an early seasonal treat. We used the yaegar house for our team meetings, perfect for about 20 of us and views of the mountains and landscape were all around. One of our team events included a hay rack ride which had no hay so I would call it more of a wagon ride. That said, the drivers were knowledgable and provided just the right amount of information while we carried on in the back! We had a team dinner in the main restaurant which was fair. The staff seemed to treat us as the cattle, herding us in and out without accommodating any special requests. By special request I mean one person asked for her steak to be prepared medium rare and the server stated we only make the steaks one way. I ordered a house salad and then the Mahi Mahi entree. The server told me that was the same as two salads since the fish was also on salad. I asked if there was another option for the fish and she said I could skip the house salad. Great solution... Next we went to a large fire pit (gas) outside after dinner and there was a basket with all that was needed to make s'mores. That was cool sitting outside with the snow falling, warmed by the fire, making s'mores. Then in the middle of this great experience it turned ten o'clock and bam, a guy shows up and turns the fire off, leaving us in the dark. All he said was "we close up at ten". Seems early for a resort. Overall, this is a beautiful place that could improve their customer service. read more

The cancellation policy for this resort is horrible. Only make a reservation here if you know for sure NOTHING will come up that will cause you to cancel. Not only did they take my name wrong on the reservation (switched my first name with my last) but they also took down my email wrong so I never received a confirmation email. When an unfortunate situation came up and I had to cancel 5 days out they said they could not refund me a penny because it was within the two week period. $620 I'm out. Devil's Thumb Ranch is an absolutely beautiful retreat! My fiancé and I packed a ton into our 23 hour stay. The location is stunning - we instantly noticed it was on the Continental Divide, which kept our attention the entire stay. The weather was beautiful so we went on a small hike around the property to get our bearings. The April snow melt produced countless waterfalls and makeshift streams which added to our relaxing stay. After our hike we ventured to Heck's for some apps and wine. We sat out on one of the picnic benches by the firepits and watched the sun go down over the snow capped peaks. The service is top notch. We made an early reservation at Ranch House Restaurant and absolutely loved our dinner. We started with the Sauteed Abalone (a rare but tasty shellfish dish), then the delicious Warm Spinach Salad, and then got entree (she got the vegan Red Quinoa Tagine, I the Halibut). Both were unbelievable. Bob recommended we return and get the steak, as next year they will be born and bred on property! We retired early so we would be nice and rested for our 9:00am yoga class. Although I would hardly consider myself a yogi, Devil's Thumb Ranch had a spell over me, and I've never enjoyed the "warrior pose" as much as I did when looking at the mountain vistas! We had mostly beginners in the class and it was the perfect combination of workout and deep stretching. Afterwards, we hit the pool, sauna and steam room. Such beautiful woodwork and selected masonry. Though we had to check out soon after, we had one more task to reach our maximum relaxation level. Massage! We both booked the Hydration Massage with your choice of Shea Butter (she got Sun, I got Earth). We got there a little early, so we ordered smoothies and headed up to the upstairs to a cozy wood paneled room and waited by the fire in our robes. It gave us another chance to appreciate the fine wood work, masonry, antique furniture/rugs placed throughout the property. But most importantly, it helped us to leave the weekly grind behind and catch back up and laugh with each other. This go round, we took the relaxing route. Next time, we will take advantage of the summer or winter activities that were offered. We will definitely be returning this summer! read more

The Bunk House at Devil's Thumb Ranch is GREAT if you're looking for a cheap place to stay close to Winter Park Ski Resort. You get access to all of the Devil's Thumb amenities, at a fraction of the cost. The pool and hot tub are amazing, and only a mile away from the bunk house parking lot. Whether you are staying in a private room w/ bathroom or one of the shared spaces upstairs, make sure you bring earplugs. The walls are very thin, and every single thing you say or do can be heard by all in the bunk house! read more

Have to agree the the customer service is absent for a resort that charges a premium (actually for any resort). Quite a wait for a table at breakfast even though only 3-4 tables are actually seated outside. There was a 20 minute wait which was ok, although we noticed many empty tables outside--we had 2-3 different servers, all of whom were confused as to what tables they were waiting on, it took forever to have someone bring coffee and put in a food order and the food took a very long time to prepare. If this was the only thing we noticed--who would care, but that's not the case. Later in the day we went to hang out at the pool. There was no water in the water dispenser and cups and towels were thrown everywhere. Poolside, there were many trays of food that previous people had finished with, that were just sitting around..trash blowing around too. I bussed around the chairs we sat in so we didn't have to look at it. My husband went to use the steam room although he came right back without staying. He didn't want to sit in it because he said it was slimy and needed to be cleaned. As well, the restroom he used had cleaning supplies laying around on the floor, there was standing water covering the counter and trash laying around. As well, the jets were not functioning in the hot tub at that area. The next morning (Father's Day) we had breakfast outside again. This time we had a server although still it took a very, very long time to get our food (at least 30 minutes). What was super surprising though---especially on a holiday, was that there were people just off the patio mowing and trimming the grass all around the area. This was at 10:30-11:45...a busy time. The mower was loud and the weed whacker really loud. We marveled at how they just kept going about their task even as people watched them, obviously annoyed by the noise. They were actually mowing around children playing out in that area, getting very close to them in order to get the job done. All I can say is that the management and customer service at Devil's Thumb is just sad. What a wasted opportunity for what could be a great place. For how beautiful the scenery is and how well done the resort, the service just doesn't match at all the accommodations and price. read more

I didn't see where there was an opportunity for a business owner to respond to a review. However, I felt compelled to try and find a way to reply to Rick M's and Kimberly K's recent negative review of our property due to the number of inaccuracies in his review. Like all businesses we do have our challenges. When they do arise we do our best to make a "miss" a success by learning from the mistake but also by dealing directly with our customers to take corrective action. That is the only way a business can improve. Particularly one in a service focused industry. Defensiveness never does any business (or anyone) any good. However, in reading Rick's and Kimberly's reviews, I felt it was imperative to respond and dispel the inacurracies outlined as well as applaud our staff's "going above and beyond" for this couple during their wedding weekend despite the challenges. Whle we certainly appreciate Rick M's and his wife's business, many of the service issues outlined were not due to our staff's ineptitude. For example, the Ceremony Rehearsal that Rick referred to was always planned for (and documented in his signed event contract) to be held at a beautiful patio overlooking the Continental Divide vs the ceremony alter site due to another wedding taking place. It was not a change--nor was it a "Plan B" that they came up with on their own. The table set up for his rehearsal dinner was as outlined on a signed contract--but he wanted it changed at the last minute. We did our best to accomodate his wishes in a prompt manner despite our set up crew being gone for the day. The changes were made without an extra labor set up service charge. Rick was reminded of the details that were in their signed contract --but--he was not pleased. In addition, the wedding party did not contract the "day after the wedding" brunch that Rick outlined in his review. However, he did send out an invitation to his wedding guests inviting them to a Brunch. When the guests arrived (and nearly all at once) asking our staff about the event---it was indeed a surprise as there was no Banquet/Event order or contract. (During the planning process, our staff did pass along pricing for the brunch, however, they decided to not to contract for one.) Again, thus the surprise. Our staff did their best to service the large breakfat gathering promptly despite being staffed in a manner that is typical for a Sunday--as most guests come in at staggered times. And, we also provided all of their morning coffee, juices, teas, etc complementary as the service was indeed slower than what is acceptable to us. ice. Lastly, while most of our weddings of this size do have a wedding planner involved to assist in the wedding decorations, organizing the ceremony, keeping the bride/groom/attendants on track, etc assisting the bride to get to the site, etc---this wedding did not have one. Our sales and banquet staff members went out of their way to help with many of the wedding details as well as "day of" wedding related questions that fell outside of our lodging and banquet reception expertise--and outside our on-site staffing. We make it very clear to all of our customers before the wedding contracts are signed as well as throughout the process, that we do not have an Wedding Coordinator or Wedding Event Planner on staff. As wedding expectations vary across the board, we outline very clealy what we staff for and what we do not staff for. Like most venues, we have a Wedding Sales Manager, (the Lindsay her referred to), who spends hours assisting in fielding initial prospects, site tours, contract preparation, menu planning and the "hand-off" details for our banquet staff to ensure that the ceremony site is set with chairs and that the cocktails, food, table set ups, for the receptions are just as outlined in the banquet plan. Again, we regreat that Rick felt that some of their event details were not per their wishes--nor some of their non-banquet related wishes attended to.. However, we organized and executed the event per the requests outlined on the Event Planning documents they signed. And, did our best to answer their "day of wedding" needs and questions that are typically handled by an outside Wedding Planner/Coordinator or family member (even going as far as tracking down some of the wedding party as they were late for the ceremony.) As weddings are typically emotion filled, once in a lifetime events--that have extremely high expectations--we do our best to manage them in a professional, well organized manner and, of course, with a personal touch. Our staff handles nearly 100+ wedding related events each year. We find we learn something from each one. Particularly the importance of keeping everything in writing. I imagine will continue to learn--as should every business seaching to evolve. read more

I go to Heck's all the time. The service is spotty. The food is acceptable. But I still go there all the time, so obviously it's not that bad. Still, there are many evenings when we pass up the opportunity to go there because we don't want to throw the dice on whether we have a good experience with the waitstaff. In fairness, the waitstaff are quite good when they are adequately staffed. The problem is that frequently they are not adequately staffed, resulting in long waits, empty drink glasses begging to be filled, and (ugh) uncleared tables! It is a gorgeous facility, so I'd really like to seem them get it together. read more

Every time I have stayed here I was wowed by the service I received. Wether this be at the spa, my hotel room, the restaurants, the stables, or in the ski shop, every detail was looked after. Everyone was super friendly and kind, and would bend over backwards to create an amazing experience. I have been here with both my significant other for a romantic weekend, and my family for a fun, adventurous get away. It was perfect for both. At first it seemed a bit pricy, but when you get there and have an amazing experience you completely understand why. It is also worth noting that there is a ton to do around the property for free. The cross country skiing is awesome, the property is gorgeous, and the food at both restaurants is amazing (plus an awesome wine list). The spa services rival any other spa I have been too. The rooms in the main lodges are large and plush. The bunkhouse rooms are small but plush and cozy. The place is incredibly refreshing, and has an amazing atmosphere. Recently, I have seen a few of negative reviews on Yelp about the ranch, and felt like a long time visitor who has seen it grow and change (and had both good and bad experiences) should weigh in. For those who were angry about something going wrong. Stuff happens. And I have had a few things go wrong when I was visiting (such as messed up reservations or a feature I was looking forward to being out of service), but the staff was always more than willing to accommodate me. Occasionally service at Hex can be wanting, but I have always found it to be above average or rapidly remediated (especially considering that service even at very upscale restaurants in almost all remote mountain towns is not always the best). What an amazing, special place! Gorgeous scenery, absolutely first rate accommodations, food, and service. 10 of us spent a long weekend with great hikes, horse back riding, a fabulous private dinner at Yagers on the property, and a fun wagon ride around the property before dinner one night. The staff was incredible - friendly, knowledgeable, and love their work. The wranglers at the stables are all these incredible, strong, bad- ass women, led by their mama bear Nikki (Ask her to tell you the story of her loyal dog Charlie). Jordan took us on a guided hike - her positive spirit was infectious and inspiring. And David in the spa - 3 of us agreed we'd never had a therapeutic massage quite like that one, ever! Victoria, Chef Dee, Brandon and Reed made my birthday dinner really special. DTR is Very luxurious but not at all pretentious or stuffy. And we did an early morning outdoor yoga class with absolutely spectacular views. Don't miss this! read more

The setting for the ranch is magical as others have described - nothing like it. The primary reason for my "A-OK" review is that the service level that you would expect of a "5 star" resort of this beauty and expense is just not up to par. With the exception of the activity center and the horse ranch (both of which had true pros), the wait staff at Heck's and Hallowed Ground as well as those working the check-in desk were a major disappointment. Restaurant service was lacking - several times needing to seek out employees who were often huddled together on their cell phones. We were served a sandwich that was made with the butt-ends of the bread loaf at Hallowed Grounds. When we inquired about transit into town, we were given two business cards (one taxi driver, one uber driver), but never told about the courtesy shuttle that takes people into town (which I saw posted on a sign in the lobby the following day). We stayed in a suite at a building separate from the main building, and when I called after accidentally locking myself out they instructed me to come down to the main building to get a new key rather than offering to let me back in (which they finally did when I noted I was not dressed to walk through the active snow storm). There was no offer of assistance with baggage, either coming in or checking out (which was significant for 4 adults). All of these are first world problems, my point of sharing them here is that when one chooses a resort of this level of expense, one would expect a level of service with that price tag. It is a gorgeous setting, but it felt like no one was in charge, I didn't see anyone who looked like a manager who was overseeing overall hospitality, and the staff seemed pre-occupied or not skilled enough to know what good service entails. They have something magical here, I really hope management steps up to make the experience of staying there match the setting. read more

This hotel missed the mark completely. I'm not writing as a hotel guest but as a someone whose friend got married there. Due to covid, I was unable to attend her wedding so I thought to reach out to concierge to have something special prepared (Fruit and Cheese platter) for her and her husband to have in their room upon check in. So I reached out to Jeff from concierge via email and made the arrangements, called and put down a card. I even followed up. And guess what happens upon my friends check-in. Absolutely nothing, no platter in sight... Immediately the moment that it would have been special passed, so I emailed the hotel concierge, only to get a out-of-office automated response the day in which everything was to be sorted out. So my next resort was to call the hotel ( I live overseas so this was a task in itself with the time zone, and overseas calling expense). After calling twice I finally reach someone and explain the situation. She says there is nothing on file and that It was Jeff's day off. So after tediously relaying every detail over the phone again she says that she'll work on it. You would think that she would do it immediately since they clearly made a misstep. But no, when my husband called back an hour later she said she hadn't found the time to do it yet. Moral of the story is, if you'd like to stay at a hotel whose attention to detail is severely lacking and whose attitude is apathetic, then this most certainly is the hotel for you. read more

We really wanted to love this place. Our cabin was super; great views. You can horseback ride which did 5 days. Horses are very gentle, healthy and happy. Our wranglers were experienced; we went on private rider. Again, stunning views from one mountain to other mountain. Our cabin was a good hike up and down the "hills". Highly recommend renting a bike; otherwise, it will take 10 minutes up and down the hill. Ok...the food in the restaurants on property are just ok. it was a bit disorganized when you needed to book activities. you need to book everything through (what looks like a bike shop): fly fishing (which was great), bikes, paddleboard; everything except horses. The main restaurant for breakfast and lunch is Heck's Tavern; and the food is pretty good, but expensive. Ranch House was awesome; food and service really great. The coffee spot Hallowed Grounds was really nice to get your coffee in the morning. Try the Ranch Bullet Proof coffee; when, and if, they make it right, WOW! read more

Very nice isolated resort. It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The white cap mountain views are incredible. The suite was as good as it gets, 2 stories, gorgeous views from the balcony, and enormous. If I'm ever back in the Fraser area I would definitely stay here again. read more

Wow, I wish this place was even closer. What a view! we just love cross country skiing past horses. The restaurant and lounge is fabulous. Great food, great service. Wish I had the bucks to stay in the resort, but we often stay near by and ski over there. Snowshoeing is great over there also. Burn about 500 calories an hour on skis over there and when you do that for a few hours, you can feel it, but if feels good as they would say. A little pricey at 17.00 a day, but compared to downhill, that is one bargain! The drive home at the pass can be a nightmare, if it snows, so check out the weather before you go. They also have a good spa, with yoga and massage for that achy body. We go many weekends in the winter, never ever sorry we went. read more

Visiting the barn were the horses are kept and petting them and feeding them sugar and apples they just love it. Having an Irish coffee after a run on the trail hit the spot. We spent a Saturday at Devil's Thumb for cross country skiing and then dinner & drinks afterwards. We had a group for cross country skiing where a few of us needed to rent equipment. Equipment rental and trail pass purchasing are done through their electronic kiosks. You enter in what type of equipment you need, your height/weight, and what trail passes will be needed and pay by credit card. This information is transferred to the rental counter where they call you up by name as soon as they have your equipment arranged. The process is pretty efficient although it isn't clearly pointed out that you can do all of this electronically until after you've gone ahead and checked at the actual rental counter. There trail system is extensive and allows a lot of opportunities for beginner to advanced level skiers. The trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing and they also allow room for snow shoers as well. After an afternoon of skiing it was time to eat and we insisted on having a beer on the patio by the fire pit. The best way to replenish yourself is with a cold beer by a fire pit when it's 18 degrees out. We headed inside to Heck's for dinner where we had a couple of excellent appetizers of calamari and pork empanadas. Several people in our group enjoyed the half chicken entree that was cooked perfectly so the chicken was falling off the bone and full of flavor. The Reuben was quite possibly the best Reuben sandwich we'd had. It was on fresh marble rye and the meat was extremely tender. I indulged in the butternut squash ravioli that was served in a brown butter sauce with a dash of balsamic vinegar. It was rich so it's a good thing the entree only consisted of 3 or 4 ravioli - though I was hungry soon after. The sandwiches are large and are fit to share with two people. In addition to the food, the wine menu is great with a large variety of wines available by the glass. At times we had iffy service from the staff - we were sat at a table and then after a half hour of sitting there the waiter was trying to rush us into ordering because they had a reservation for that table within the hour. We indicated that they should've mentioned that up front when we sat down, but they figured out the reservation issue and we did not need to move. One guest had left their credit card up at the bar and the bartenders and our waiter were not able to get the beer closed out on that card and after much waiting, the guest had to go up to the bar and get the card. Needless to say, there was no charge for the beer. Despite a few service issues, this is a place where we will definitely return. Heck's is comfortable enough to dine in while still wearing your ski attire. And there is free wi-fi too. I only wish we had booked a room so that we could've stayed longer. read more

We spent a wonderful weekend at Devil's Thumb Ranch for a mini family reunion. The scenery is spectacular, our accommodations in High Lonesome were perfect and impeccably clean. We receive twice daily housekeeping. We had meals in both Heck's and Ranch House and all meals were terrific. We had Heck's Wagyu burgers on two evenings they were that good. One evening we took the shuttle to Volario's, the Winter Park Italian restaurant affiliated with the resort. The staff is what makes the difference. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and courteous. I would highly recommend Devil's Thumb not only as a get-away but for all the outdoor activities they offer as well. read more

One of my favorite places to relax. It honestly doesn't get any better. The spa is worth the money! Or take a yoga class for $20 (free if staying onsite) and you get to use all the spa amenities. The classes are awesome too and they even have stand up paddle board yoga classes mid day! Hike around the property while you are there too and say hi to the horses. read more

My wife and I did the zip line tour on Sat 9 /10. It was incredible, however what made it special was our guides Jeff and Andrew! Brothers from another mother as soon as we started...awesome 4wd tour just to the zips. Weather was beautiful. We learned a lot about the history and had several other great conversations as well.. Overachieving with the best of intentions - but NOT worth the money. The menu seemed as if it was planned for a Top Chef competition, and for the prices listed, I would have expected a name brand chef. Endive and radicchio salad was too bitter and swimming in a soup of french dressing. I paid $40 for a ribeye that was dry and pomme frites that were underdone. My companion's broccoli rabe was inedible and her risotto was greasy and gooey. Truly one of the most overpriced, horrible meals I have eaten in a long time. This review is for Hex restaurant at Devil's Thumb Ranch. First, let me say my family and I have always loved Devil's Thumb Ranch. My wife and I were married at Devil's Thumb 7 years ago and since then we always look forward to spending summer afternoons and evenings at the ranch whenever we return to Winter Park. For some reason, Devil's Thumb decided to change everything at Hex restaurant, the main gathering place to dine at the ranch (there is a formal, somewhat stuffy restaurant at the Ranch House but that is very expensive and normally hit or miss). Unfortunately, Hex is now TERRIBLE. Whoever decided on the new format, menu, staffing levels, etc, obviously knows NOTHING about how to properly run a restaurant or resort. Devil's Thumb used to be such an amazing place for families and friends to gather to enjoy great food and the outdoors. Not anymore. The new menu stinks. There are no entrees and only really bad appetizers available to order. Also, forget about taking your kids to Devil's Thumb because there is absolutely no kids menu. My 2 year old isn't exactly a picky eater but he wouldn't touch any of the crap Hex is now serving. To make matters worse, the service is abominable. Our poor waitress even apologized in advance right when we sat down saying everything has changed for the worse, there was nothing really good to eat, and it would probably take forever to get our drinks and lame appetizers because management got rid of all the staff. Well, after 30 minutes of waiting with no drinks and food, she proved herself right. What a JOKE!! I can understand the food taking a little longer, but we didn't even get our cocktails after waiting 30 minutes!!! We finally called our waitress over to the table, cancelled everything, returned to our car and went to Deno's for an awesome meal. Lesson learned....if you want a great night out in Winter Park, DON'T go the Devil's Thumb. Go to Deno's, Tabernash Tavern, or even Randi's (yes Randi's is now 100 times better than Devil's Thumb and that makes me very sad). Come on Devil's Thumb...take the thumb out of your a$* and fix the mess you've created at Hex so we can all enjoy your wonderful resort once again! read more

This place is beautiful, in a great area. Which is why I didn't really expect to pay $350 per night to be locked in a prison. Pool closes at 9:00, bar closes at 11:00. Which is fine, except for the fact you're in a remote area that has no other options. I'm sure my parents would love staying here, so they can get to bed on time, and read. But if you're looking for a place to enjoy yourself, it's the most un-accommodating place I've ever stayed. Oh, and they only have 4 tv stations, so once the "lights out" is ordered on the resort, you can't even watch TV. It's hell, it must be why it's called the devils thumb. read more

Went back after a year last night and what a difference. The Ranch House was awesome! Service was great, wine list was excellent and the food was everything we could hope for and more. We'll be back for sure. read more

We enjoyed out stay at Devils Thumb Ranch. The hotel is like a cabin away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still includes all the amides of a classy downtown hotel. Thanks to Brad for helping make our stay memorable and enjoyable. If you're coming to CO and looking to get away, check this place out! From the pool, to the rooms, to the hotel restaurant (I could go on and on) this is the place to be! Amazing views, delicious food, horrible service as always. We've been here multiple times and the place is spectacular, but you really need to be prepared - their poor service is legendary. The employees simply do not care. Everything from slow service to wrong orders to snarky waiters are all part of the cost of this otherwise world class resort. read more

This is a very special, BEAUTIFUL place. I hope that more and more people will learn of this place and make it a point to come and visit! Amazing decor, friendly helpful staff. Went to the Spa and loved it! Also had dinner at the Ranch House which was my favorite! We consistently have a wonderful time at Devil's Thumb and it is our go to for holidays, special events, happy hour and nice dinners. We attended to the Broad Axe Barn Buffet and the High Lonesome New Year's Eve party last night and the service was impeccable. Our server, Katie, was completely wonderful and great with our large party. We were all impressed by how great her service was and she set the tone for our our of town guests and us to have a festive New Year's Eve! The bartenders at the event were also fabulous and personable. Stunning atmosphere, welcoming ambience and great staff. We recommend Devil's Thumb as a must see while in the Grand County area and a great destination getaway! read more
