Great location. It has a lot of breakfast choices but really gives off more of a bar vibe. Everything is painted black including the hotel. They did have some GF / gluten free for celiacs like me with some gluten free choices like a yogurt or smoothie but to me, it feels more like they were going to stock that anyway than that they were to trying to attract the gluten free community. Poor GF labeling and no "good choices" were mentioned like a bacon, egg, and cheese or something. Still - the staff were cool and the beer selection was good. It really depends what you are looking for. If you want a beer, go here. If you are celiac, there are other choices nearby that have better labeling. read more

Great location, good rooms, decent customer service. My partner and I were very excited for our first stay at Gravity Haus (we were considering membership), but a couple setbacks on our end/management's end made this a less enjoyable experience. Location-- super cute part of town, very walkable, and the built in coffee shop/ bar make this place sweet Rooms-- they look nice and have everything you need, with a facade of glamour. Shower could definitely use a shelf to prevent from toiletries on the floor. Bathroom was out of hand soap from check in. There are also no extra towels which would be helpful for all the ski gear (or maybe a rug underneath where it hangs to prevent floor from getting wet). Bed was super cozy!! And the water was nice and hot! Also appreciated the humidifier Customer service -- before arriving we called to ask about early check in (it's at 4pm) and could not get a definite answer, so we went ahead and booked the night before. It was easy to get our key when arriving after midnight. Had a hard time communicating with management about an earlier check out with refund due to complaints about our dog barking and wanting to remedy the situation. Turns out you can only do it if there's a death in the family, and I did not feel like faking one. Overall, a pretty good, easy spot to stay but only come if you don't have a bad dog that barks too much :( read more

Nothing close to other Gravity Haus properties. It's a Travelodge that's been painted black. Truly a bait and switch, if you've ever been to the Breck or Vail properties. Nice enough staff, but that where the pleasantries end. Really a 2.5 star at best. Avoid! read more

The staff is friendly, they welcome dogs like they are people and the place is clean! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They have been effected by the labor shortage (down 15 employees) so, the staff that was working is doing amazing to keep guests serviced. The food is delicious and the drinks are perfect for an afternoon delight! I highly recommend checking this place out even if you don't stay at the hotel you can enjoy a quite breakfast, lunch or dinner in the cute Starter House. My only comment is that they don't salt or shovel the stairs and parking areas. The steps are metal and can get slippery. Also, they could use hooks outside in the hot tube area to place your items while you are in the tub. read more

Great place to stay while skiing at Winter Park Resort! The king bed was comfy, the parachute towels with the shower was a plus! We were impressed with a stocked fridge and snacks for you to purchase but complimentary tea and coffee! We arrived early on the train but the reception was great cause we could leave our bags in the front area while enjoying some drinks at the bar. Loved loved their golden tea latte. They even had the Chiefs game on that we could watch! The gym is amazing with everything g you can think of. The hot tubs were hot, one didn't make bubbled but the soak was great any way! Great for a short stay! My husband and I brought our dog and had a great 2 night stay in the area. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were fluffy compared to typical stiff hotel towels. The room was clean. Staff were friendly and loved all the dogs who entered the lobby. An electric kettle was provided with coffee and tea. Robes were a nice touch. The location was excellent for walking to restaurants and kitschy shops. We had no issues with parking, though it didn't seem like a crowded time of year. The coffee bar was great and the restaurant food was delicious and fast. The lobby was welcoming, comfortable and dog friendly. We didn't access the hot tub or gym. A few suggested changes to help add to the comfort: Lighting: Though aesthetically pleasing, the lamps offered little light/low brightness; The switches to those lamps were difficult to reach; The spotlight lamps became blinding when required to help illuminate the room, not just one spot. Furniture: The end tables looked nice but were covering the outlets. We both had to move them out of the way to plug in our chargers by the bed overnight; Having only 1 chair in the room limited our desire to play cards or eat takeout in the room while watching a movie. Bonus: we were able to do that over tacos in the lobby/restaurant instead, so it worked out. If we were planning to stay more than 2 nights, not having a 2nd chair would have been a big inconvenience. Microwave: could the lobby provide a community microwave for guest use or consider adding a microwave to the rooms? We recommend Gravity Haus to friends! read more

First blush reaction is this is a very refreshed spot. The valley has (or at least I have) been waiting on the opening for a while. Unique draft cocktails and fresh Mid-century modern seating coupled with a mountain chalet feel make this a welcome addition to what is sometimes a dated valley. There are plenty of hands on deck as the opening is new so hopefully that continues at some level in coming months. For a hotel bar (and that's all I visited) this is fun and accessible. Park on street and enjoy outside seating if you don't want to be bellying up next to your neighbor. The bar and coffee are convenient to have on sight but yikes the lack of parking spaces for the number of rooms is a big miss and it stresses me out not knowing where we can park when we leave. The people working here are accommodating and responsive. The rooms are modern but SMALL. Very compact. I'm glad we only have a one night stay as I'd feel pretty claustrophobic for more than that. read more

I booked through hotels.com for a weekend in March and selected the "pay at property" option. Per the hotels.com posted policy, I booked a fully refundable rate up to 7 days before the bookings starts. They charged my credit card for a full night and when I reached out to them they claimed that I booked during a holiday period and that the policy is to charge one full night and it's not refundable which is NOT consistent with what is posted on hotels.com. They said they would refund the deposit only if I cancel the reservation. I reported this to hotels.com and they said the hotel is refusing to refund my deposit even though I never authorized them to charge my credit card. The hotels.com person then said they would apply the deposit towards the booking. That's not cool - you can't just charge my card against the policy that is posted and refuse to make it right. I will be reporting this to my credit card company as a fraudulent charge and advise everyone to stay away from this horrible business. read more

We have come here frequently over the years and initially enjoyed the food, coffee and vibe. I would say the quality is dropped quite a bit. It was 63° in there. No-frills and not high-end, however, we had everything we needed and were comfortable. -Love having a microwave and fridge. -Close to lots of restaurants (walking distance) -Older pool & hot tub, but indoors and welcome after skiing plus fun for the kids -Packaged baked goods + coffee/juice in the AM are a treat -Beds are not fancy, however, I am very picky and sensitive to soft "taco" beds (ones like a taco shell where you roll toward the middle) and my back will ache on a too-soft bed: verdict -- decent beds, yay! -We were on the lower floor, not near the stairs, and it was surprisingly quiet I'm a very particular person and I have to say, that I was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to tick all the boxes for what I'm looking for in a place to stay. Even if it is, it still advertises as a coffee shop; mid bike ride on a cool Sunday morning we stop for a coffee and while my husband was talking to me at the counter deciding what to order, the "coffee maker" said to us "I need to finish this other order first" - when first of all that's not a very happy first greeting (I.e. Good Morning, I'll be with you folks in just a moment) and secondly, we weren't even talking to him. This Is not very Winter Park like and I'll use my dollars where I'm welcomed and there are plenty of places to do that. read more

You get what you pay for. Yes the rates are lower, and yes it is hard to beat. The location is great. This place is very clean and gives the appearance of being well taken care of. Being that it was renovated in the last ten years, everything is in decent condition. If you are wondering at this point why I have chosen to give only two stars I will explain... The hot water in our room was on the fritz. I started the water running for a shower at a medium temperature and when I went to step into the tub the water had pooled at the bottom which I thought was no big deal until I submerged my foot and nearly got a 1st degree burn on it. I fell over in pain the water was so hot, and the nail polish on my toes actually fell off in one whole piece. I ran some cold water and waited for the pool to cool off for a few and then got in the tub turning the temp to medium again. Just as I put the shampoo in my hair the water turned ice cold and I ran to the other side of the tub. Of course, since I hadn't been able to rinse the shampoo, I couldn't open my eyes without the intense burning of shampoo in them. My fiancé came and checked the temperature and we realized after messing with it that the water would not stay steady when the shower was running or when it was filling up the tub. I ended up having to take a bath with my hand on the temperature dial so that I could adjust it when it started acting up. When I got out of the tub I realized we had only been given two body towels which were a little on the small size which was just like the cherry on the sundae for me. Needless to say this was not something I really wanted to be dealing with after an exhausting day on the mountain. Since we were only staying for one night and I was tired we decided not to bother complaining to the staff about our problem and chalked it up to 'getting what we paid for'. Later that evening when trying to go to sleep it was nearly impossible until very late at night because the room we had gotten was right next to the stair case so we had to listen to everyone going to the second floor stomping up the stairs. Even if you walked lightly in the room or on the stairs the sound was still obnoxious. All and all I'd say if you choose to stay here, even after what I have said, you may want to do a few things and learn from my experience... Ask for a room that is not right by the staircase, not on the bottom floor, get extra towels before you go to your room because there will only be a very minimum stocked, and check the shower water before you start unloading and unpacking to make sure you don't have the same problems I did with it. I don't know if it was just because of old pipes, or if it was that room in particular but I guess you'll have to find out. read more

I didn't realize it was also a hotel until I pulled in. I got a nitro milkshake (nitro cold brew, vanilla and oat milk) and a cookie. The coffee was amazing! The cookie was a little hard and crunchy but the taste was good. I was feeling generous and left $10 in the tip jar. The employee that took my order didn't notice at first but when he did he came around from the counter and up to the table I was sitting at to thank me, which I greatly appreciate! This motel is comfortable, clean, and in a great location. There are even a microwave and a fridge in the room! That's hard to find even in a nice hotel! Don't get your hopes up for the breakfast: sickly sweet Little Debbie knock-off prepackaged pastries, coffee, tea, and juice. Blech. What a great location and price for downtown Winter Park! CHEAP for a Saturday night during peak snow season...can't really beat it, honestly...I checked! Family owned! Ted, who you'll most likely talk to, is kind of hard to understand but our room was ready when we got there and that's all that matters. It's not your 4 or 5 star hotel but you get what you need including microwave, fridge, pastries, coffee, hot chocolate and juice in the morning. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub that we'll take advantage of next time. Right across the street from a 7-11 and great walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in town. I say 'woohoo' because of what you get for the price. My Honey and I have stayed here many times over the last 10 years. We haven't had a bad experience yet. GREAT location. Right in the middle of Winter Park. You can walk easily to shopping, restaurants, park and convenience store. The shuttle will pick you up if you want to go further. Very nice, well-kept, clean motel. The owners live on site and obviously take great pride in their business. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't for you. The beds are comfortable, lots of pillows, great towels. Standard furniture - but I love I've always had a table with chairs in the room. The rooms are always very clean. It can be a bit noisy with skiers clomping around in their boots, but it's never been too much of a bother. Nice fridge and microwave. Standard TV. The heaters are a bit noisy. I love the hot tub and pool. They are not modern, but well kept and clean. There is a small coin op guest laundry. Greatly appreciated on ski trips! No breakfast - they do have coffee and muffins in the lobby in the morning. There's only a pop vending machine, but you're right across the street from 7-11 if you need a snack. We have stayed at nicer places in town and always been disappointed that we just didn't get enough extra bang for the extra bucks. read more

We take a summer vacation to Winter Park each year, we always stay here. The owners are the nicest people in the world! We take the Amtrak train there just to break the monotony of driving places. The train station is actually in the town just north of Winter Park. The owner has picked 6 of us up in multiple trips and our luggage and taken us into Winter Park. They've opened the pool early and let us stay late. Just so accommodating. We are absolutely thrilled each year! They have 3 bd rooms which saves us a ton on multiple rooms. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. Always recommend them to friends headed towards Winter Park. Convenient location in the middle of town and not far from skiing or summer activities on the mountain. read more

Stayed with them for the Winter Park Jazz Festival (btw it is right around the corner from the park) 7/17 - 7/20/15. Very friendly staff. Clean room which includes a small refrigerator and microwave oven. Ice is provided in the lobby. Breakfast consists of cocoa, orange juice and sweet pastries. Free WiFi. Big dbl beds. I lost my diamond stud earring and they allowed my friend to dump the vacuum cleaner to look for it after we had perused my room. Three hours after we checked out I received a call that my earring was found in the room! The owner left a message that I needed to return his call and apprise them of how I would like to retrieve it. I asked if they could just mail it and he placed it in a baggie and mailed it to me. The postage was charged to my credit card. I received it on Thursday. Now how many motels/hotels would have returned a diamond 1/2K post earring? I appreciate this because it was the last pair of earrings that my deceased husband had given me. Honesty is a virtue and the staff at the Sundowner Motel have DEFINITELY earned my repeat business for years to come! The only negative is that the WiFi was slow.
