Where has this donut place been all my life!! I came across Destination Donuts Instagram by chance and saw that they change their donut flavors daily. I was immediately intrigued and knew I had to stop in soon. I grabbed their Butterscotch & Smoked Sea Salt donut and their Dueling Vanilla that is available daily. Let's get into the size??? These donuts are massive compared to the ones I usually get elsewhere. I'd like to think the price reflects the size and the soft airy texture of the donut. The sea salt worked well with the butterscotch flavor and the Dueling Vanilla wasn't too sweet. Excited to try their other flavors in the future.
I tried these donuts for the first time in 2024 and I could not stop thinking about them. I am vegan so it isn't easy to find donuts at most places but destination donuts has so many vegan options. It is always such a treat when I get them and they taste amazing. I've went in person once and the seating is a bit limited with street parking but that's to be expected in Clintonville. I like to stop in and take them to go but there definitely is some seating for people that prefer to stay in. The service is great and the ship is super cute. I highly recommend it as it is a great business to support and is delicious for everyone but I definitely recommend to other vegans that are craving a good donut.
It had been on my list to try and glad to make a trip out around the area. Got myself the Red Raspberry Rhubarb and Sugar 'Lit Bits. I am not a big icing fan and love this have the just right amount of icing on the donut. Slightly sweet with a hint of sourness. Can't forget that Sugar 'Lit Bits. It's such a perfect munchy and I just keep pulling one out from the bag. Their flavors line up usually rotate daily and note that their donuts are vegan friendly as well.
These donuts looked really good, but they tasted okay. I wasn't too impressed with the flavors.. I wish they were more bold and balanced, and that they would've made it worth the carbs. These donuts tasted like sugar without much flavor. I also wish they had both yeast and cake donuts as options. Only yeast donuts here.
I've been a long time fan and customer of destination donuts even when they were just a small stand at North Market! Now they've got a cute small location with some indoor seating for a nice snack. I'm not vegan and didn't realize these donuts were vegan! Even so, these are my favorite donuts in Ohio because of their soft chewy texture (yeast donuts as opposed to cake donuts) and fun flavors! I will say though the donuts are super expensive and they really aren't generous to customers with their rewards. I was 25 cents short of another stamp on my rewards card and they have never rounded up even though you're paying nearly 4 dollars per donut (you get a stamp for every 5 dollars you spend). They post their flavors of the day on their Instagram so you can decide if it's worth the visit before going out. Their lemon blueberry donut is one of my favorites! I will say they tried to do a Thai tea donut and missed the mark, didn't have enough flavor which I've noticed is a trend in many non Asian places in Columbus attempting an Asian inspired version of their dishes. Would be interested in trying the ube flavor to see how it came out!
My daughter has an egg allergy which makes breakfasts out difficult. Before a recent Ohio State game we made reservations for an on-campus buffet breakfast with few egg free options, so I promised her a donut. Little did I know how very difficult it would be to find a vegan donut!! We live in Cincinnati and every place that touts their vegan donuts were sold out or not making them. Destination Donuts absolutely saved the day. We stopped in to this adorable, clean shop early on game day and I got 6 amazing vegan donuts. The staff were kind, helpful and efficient. My daughter was ecstatic and everyone who tried the donuts were surprised by how yummy they were! Thank you Destination Donuts!!
I just love this place so much. I come in quite often, but today I was picking up donuts for work, and asked for specific packaging in multiple boxes to keep the vegan donuts separate, and Heather, the owner, just helped me out with nothing but patience and a smile on her face. I really appreciate that they moved to the neighborhood and continue to be a great spot for a sugar fix.
I wandered into the neat little storefront five minutes before closing so they didn't have many choices. There was five chocolate frosted potato stick, one dueling vanilla, or two fruity pebbles glazed. I cleaned them out of the latter two varieties for $9. The pebbles were soo good and I liked the vanilla too. The nifty atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a working bakery and the lady working the counter was friendly.
08/24/24 "I am not Vegan" but wanted to try and support. I went after work around 12:30pm. The only doughnuts that they had left were "Maple nut, Key Line and Cinnamon Sugar Bites. I Missed out on the Raspberry Hibiscus and Ube. "The Farmers Market customers toke everything, lol." My friend Loved her "Maple Nut" I love that I was asked if we had any nut allergies. Very friendly staff. I will return early next time. I am glad they had a sell out. 10/10
These are a must every time I step foot in the North Market. I first experienced Destination Donuts because they have vegan options, and quickly became a fan. Whether it is one of their vegan or regular donuts the taste is incredible. They are big and doughy. Sometimes it is a bit much, but I get them anyway because of the flavor. Their hibiscus, and smoked butterscotch donuts are two of my favorites. They validate your parking ticket, and have a rewards program. Don't forget to get these stamped each time. You don't want to miss out on your rewards points because you will find yourself going back often when you are in the downtown area.
My friend and I stopped here and were absolutely blown away by all the vegan options. I got a maple cinnamon roll and she got a buckeye donut and a coffee nibbler. Their new location is adorable and I highly recommend a trip to visit them.
Destination Donuts are the best donuts in town! If you like yeasty donuts, you need to try them. They don't go overboard on flavors and the ones they do, they do them well. They occasionally have a seasonal flavor that is usually delicious. They also have vegan optione!
Was hoping that I found that cak donut shop, but no. ONLY had cake donut holes. (How can you do holes without donuts?? Aren't the holes the dough you cut out to make the donut??) Rest of stock was very large yeast donuts. So large, you don't even want to know the calorie count or maybe the price. The cake donut holes was $2 each. You could get 2 Dom's donuts for that price. The one I had was delicious and a good size. Maple nut flavor.
There are so many cool foodie places to browse in the North Market. I love donuts but I try to enjoy them sparingly as they are just caloric bombs. I thought that I would be able to exhibit self control until I walked up to Destination Donuts. It was such a beautiful display of donuts in mouth-watering flavors that I had to try one. Well, I ended up buying two. One for now and one for later. :-) I ended up buying a dueling vanilla and a blackout. Both were delicious. Everything is handmade and fried of course. I had a chance to watch them prepare a batch. In addition to the two that I bought, the varieties of the day included citrus cinnamon roll, chocolate bacon, coconut raspberry, and pumpkin with spiced pepitas. After indulging in both donuts, I can honestly say that it was one of the best donuts that I have had. It's definitely a donut connoisseur's place. I am glad that I don't actually live out here or I would be in trouble. If you are ever in the North Market, make it a point to try one or more of their donuts. You won't be disappointed. I was only disappointed that I didn't have time to go back and buy some more. read more

I've eaten a lot of donuts in my years on earth. Some of them have been pretty decadent and over-the-top. ...but, I find myself continually coming back for a specific offering from Destination Donuts at the North Market. Smoked sea salt & butterscotch. Fried and flaky yeast donut, sweetly glazed with subtle spikes of salinity. Not all donuts need to be dripping in bacon or topped with Fruity Pebbles. Show your support for butterscotch, the underutilized confectionary combo of brown sugar and butter. read more
Destination doughnuts are good! The doughnuts are fresh. And they do have interesting flavors. Why not more than 3 stars...to me the ratio of doughnut to glaze is off. Now these doughnuts are GINORMOUS and for $3 and up for each doughnut they should be GINORMOUS. But theres not enough glaze on the doughnut. So to me its just a lot of cake doughnut. We tried 4 of the 8 flavors offered, and our unanimous favorite was the raspberry hibiscus. Its worth a try to check out Destination doughnuts and see what you think?! read more

I absolutely love this place and have to stop by every time we visit the North Market. These donuts are so delicious and are very filling- probably because they are gigantic. On our last visit, we got the Dueling Vanilla, Strawberry Lemonade and the Raspberry Hibiscus and somehow one bite was missing from each of them by the time we made it home. Weird. read more

They have some of the largest donuts. You might think $3 for a donut is too much, but they're the same size as 2-3 regular donuts so it's really not that expensive. The glazed donuts (vanilla, lemon blueberry, raspberry hibiscus) are very cakey and in my opinion, they're a bit too dry. But the flavors are impeccable and unbeatable. The bombs (cookies & cream, nutella, buckeye, peanut butter) are the same size but since they're filled, it doesn't feel as dry and cakey because the filling cuts that and adds moisture to the donut. They're something I love to get when I'm looking to indulge in sweets but definitely not something you should eat often. They're huge and eating it, I feel guilty about how much sugar I'm ingesting, but once I take a bite, all of my worries are lifted haha. The only thing I wish they had was a menu of what flavors they have on certain days or whatnot. I understand they like changing it up but I feel like I'll get one that I love and when I go back next time, they don't have it... However, that also forces me to try their other flavors and perhaps find a new favorite. Their donuts goo fast, but don't be alarmed! They're always making more so just wait a bit and I'm sure they'll be restocked soon enough. read more

I decided to try a donut from here after enjoying a big meal. The staff was friendly and helpful in giving recommendations. The donuts were solid but nothing to go crazy for. I've had better. I got the Apple Cider raised donut. It tasted like apples and cinnamon (which was expected) but I felt like it was missing something. The donut also seemed more doughy than fluffy and it felt like a chore to chew each bite. Since it was such a big donut, I would've enjoyed it more with an apple filling and/or crumbly topping. Although the price was not cheap, it was reasonable for such a big donut ($3/donut). read more

My husband and I tried them a couple of weeks ago. They are inside the North Market and parking is great right now since there not as many people downtown due to Covid. I liked that they had fun flavors but not just basic chocolate or glazed. We really liked the Lemon Blueberry and the Butterscotch SeaSalt. The Donuts are also a nice size and were fresh. read more

This is one of those occasions where the visual FAR exceeds the actual. I had the Blackout donut, and it was as dry as could be. Too doughy, and uncooked made this practically tasteless. read more
Memorial Day weekend road trip to Columbus. First time to North Market. Tip: Don't leave your parking ticket in your car. Take it in and get it validated at one of the vendors for $2 parking. Also take/find a knife to cut stuff up to share. Now Destination Donuts should be your first destination (see what I did there?). Beautiful, hard to choose, super friendly staff. These are not like Krispy Kreme's that melt in your mouth with hardly any chewing necessary. These are big, cakey and vanillay base donut dough. The dough is about the same in all the donuts with different toppings. We got lemon blueberry, chocolate decadence, chocolate peanut butter & salted butterscotch. Four were too many for four people sharing at breakfast next morning. Definitely try at least one if you are in North Market. read more
If you are looking for a donut and have a few extra bucks to spend, than this is your go to! The donuts here are on the pricier side at $3 a donut but worth every dollar! The flavors the offer are unique and rotate constantly. Everything is very natural tasting which is very natural tasting compared to the sugar loaded artificial flavors you would find at most donut places! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I was at North Market again and I saw that they had a Buckeye Donut available, when they hadn't before. I decided to give them another chance and I came to the same conclusion as before that these donuts aren't worth it. The donut is way too big (I guess as part of the way to justify the price). Whenever I tried to get a bite, I would either get a mouthful of donut or a mouthful of peanut butter cream. I never once got to taste the chocolate on the donut. While the cream was good, it was offset by the vast amount of donut with it, and the donut, in my opinion, wasn't a tasty donut. So, I will not be trying them again. I didn't enjoy this donut like I thought I would, and $3 is too much for a disappointing donut. read more

If you love donuts, this is a must. Destination Donuts is inside North Market. The great thing about this donut shop is they also have vegan donuts, and they are just as delicious as non-vegan donuts. We had their bacon-chocolate donut and it was melt in your mouth exquisite. Destination Donuts is also dedicated to making sure their food is just that, food. The don't add preservatives, additives or other fake food. They also strive to use local ingredients and supporting other local businesses. So check them out! read more

Columbus has a lot of fantastic donut shops, but they tend to skew towards the traditional. Tasty as the offerings can be, there's a certain routine. Walk into any donut shop or bakery in town and you know you'll find a blueberry, a frosted cake, an apple fritter, a filled bismarck, a sour cream. There are a few variations (all hail the Cronut, king of tasty textural goodness), but the classics are always represented. Destination? They're a wildcard. Appearing locally in cases at the Hills Market locations and in periodic popups at North Market, Heather Morris' Destination Donuts come in a lot closer to a shop like Portland's Voodoo Donut - everything she does, even the seemingly traditional, has a twist. On the morning I stopped by the popup, she had a vanilla donut, for example, but it came with a Madagascar vanilla base and a Tahitian vanilla glaze. The blueberry donut features a lemon twist. The dark chocolate dipped donut comes either dusted with fresh coconut or sweetened with a Valencia orange glaze. Are they a little pricey, at $2-3 a donut? Yeah. Is it worth it? Ohhhh, yes. If you see Heather out with her wares, stop. Check them out. Grab one. (Or two...or three...or I have a serious problem.) You won't regret it. read more

I'm so happy that Destination Donuts has a permanent spot now in the North Market. Happy for them and happy for the fact that when I get to North Market late, the donuts won't already be gone. Prior to me waking up early on Saturday to go get some donuts, I'd only tried DD's cinnamon-sugar donut, and it was nice and fluffy and pretty damn big. This is how all their donuts are I've come to find. When I got to their stand just after 9 am, they had about 6 different flavors out, plus a sour cream donut hole. I ordered one of each, so I'd have a better grasp on what I'd want the next time I was here. I don't remember the names of everything I got, but I'd say my favorites were definitely the Raspberry Hibiscus, and this butterscotch one I had. The Dueling Vanilla, Macadamia Nut, and Lemon Blueberry were also pretty tasty. One was covered in a chocolate icing that I wasn't a fan of. These donuts were super light and fluffy and stayed that way pretty much all day. I think my only gripe is that they're pretty cool when you get them or at least mine were. I like donuts every which way, so it wasn't a big deal, but I was kind of wishing for them to be a little warmer. If you're trying to cut weight like me, stay away; otherwise, stuff yourself silly. I usually stay away from donuts, but after seeing some pictures earlier in the week, I had such a craving and couldn't hold back. I'll definitely be there again, but it may not be for some time. read more

Every time we visit Destination Donuts in the North Market the employees are always super friendly and genuinely seem happy to be doing their jobs. They are always working constantly at either creating more donuts, cleaning up their vendor space or waiting on the long line of customers that can pile up, so it's great seeing awesome customer service nowadays. On this last visit they had about 6 different round donuts with different toppings to choose from (I do really wish they had some cream filled options more often!) We chose a Butterscotch Sea Salt donut, which really just tasted like a glazed donut...but an out-of-this-world-amazingly-delicious glazed donut!!! Super soft and chewy, thick and perfectly cakey, just the right amount of glaze on top. They definitely know how to make a great tasting donut here, so I would highly recommend checking out Destination Donuts if you're visiting the North Market. There's no way you would regret it! read more

I really want to be able top give this place 5 stars because of their fun flavors, personality, and awesome customer service. It's just that the donuts themselves are lacking, specifically the dough flavor and texture. The dough is so dense (and bland) and the donuts are so thick you feel like you are eating a loaf of bread with a thin layer of icing/flavor. read more
8/4- Couldn't leave Columbus without making a stop here. Even now, two month later, I can still remember the moment of silent bliss I had after my first bite into one of their valencia orange donuts. Girl at the counter was very helpful in egging me in the right direction of getting an additional cinnamon roll. I really liked the glass display windows of Destination's booth...really convenient that they're on a corner too...that way you can not only see all the prettiful fried goods, but also the process of them being made (hopefully I'm not the only one that silently 'oooohs' at things being fried/glazed, lol). But yes. Back to the donut. The streaks of chocolate glaze was just enough to give that hit of dark chocolate, but really the standout flavor was the valencia orange. Definitely didn't taste like the overly cloying/fake sort of orange flavoring you get in mass produced sherbet. No, this was a lot lighter with notes of something...more citrusy? organic?.. than the generic "orange". Delicious! read more

How is their coffee. We want to eat there tomorrow but want coffee too. Although we are still trying this place.?
Destination dinner is located inside the North Market. There's is a Stauf's coffee just a couple vendors down that should suit any coffee need.
