I've never had acrylics done before and I was so nervous about getting them done, but Henry took really good of me and let me know exactly what I would be in for going in. Guess I had a poor experience compared to others. I chose this place because of all the rave reviews. Here are my hang ups. I came here with half of my bridal party, I probably shouldn't have mentioned that I was getting married because we were charged almost 100 bucks per person. Forced upselling- I came for a pedicure and full set. Pedicure was alright except I was charged for a deluxe pedicure when I just got a standard one plus callus removal. The sides of my toes are a little sore and I think they cut too close, hoping it doesn't become ingrown! I wanted a pink and white set. Nothing fancy, just the baso. French manicure. I asked for short but he insisted on longer. I had to give him a story on how I NEEEDED them short. The man kept trying to talk me into a 3D Rose. I said I wasn't interested and he told me it was bridal nails and I should do it. I told him I would think about it. As I sat down and he started to do my nails, I was chatting with my friend and didn't notice that he had started to make this flower. I told him "oh no no! I do not want a flower"! He said, trust me, I'm an artist I know it will look good and continued to go. After he was finished I wasn't happy with the way it looked and he told me To wait. Still pointing out I did not want it. Long story short, he proceeded to finish both nails. I looked and guess what? Didn't like it. I asked him to take it off and he was angry and forcefully removed the roses and re did it the way I wanted it. They were messy, uneven, and thin. They charged me for it too! They also charged me for a full manicure when I only asked for a mini one (to clean up cuticles. I won't be coming back and the only reason it gets two stars is because my pedicure has still held on and my sisters manicure has as well. read more

Never have I ever been treated this poorly in a nail salon. I have been getting my nails done for 7 years and I have never been told no to a request, and kicked out because I am "picky". If I am paying $100+ for my nails I expect that the person doing them will listen to what I want and execute it. This would have been the 2nd time I got my nails done there. The first time I just let him have it his way, but he didn't cut my real nail, he just added an extension to my real nail making them longer. The only nails that broke over that period of time we're the only nails that weren't naturally mine. This time I wanted him to do the same adding an extension to the two that broke. He refused and started screaming at me in front of everyone telling me he refused to build a nail on top of my real, and no one has ever said that to me, and telling me that he refuses to do my nails cause I'm too picky. So... this is the worst place I have ever gotten my nails done at. Not only did they not fulfill my wishes, but they were rude and publicly humiliated me. Fuck this place read more

I absolutely love Designer Nails Studio. Henry is such a talented artist and is able to come up with any design for you. The staff is very professional and friendly. The studio is always very clean and organized. I recommend calling ahead to get an appointment because they can be popular in the evenings. I've seen them stay open to make sure they are able to fit in all their customers and they never make you feel rushed. I definitely recommend paying them a visit! read more

Designer Nails Studio is hands down the best nail salon in the San Fernando Valley. Henry, Katie and the rest of the staff are always so welcoming and friendly. There is never more than a minute wait if you come in with an appointment (which is very easy to book over the phone). They take you immediately and focus all their attention on the customer they are working on. This salon has great attention to detail. Henry and Katie are amazing nail artists and perfectionists. Every time I get my nails done by them, I am always happy. My acrylics/gels always last me a month with no chipping or lifting. This salon also carries REAL SNS dipping powder, unlike most salons. Henry is also extremely knowledgeable about all the best nail products to use on his customers. I've had acrylics, SNS Powder, Gels and pedicures done at this salon and I am pleased every time. read more

I gave this place 3 stars for friendliness and it's a decent price or pretty standard price. I came in to get a gel change of color which is 25 and I asked the lady who worked on my nails to clip my nails to be a little shorter - which were turned out well. I asked the lady to give me the same shape almond - but my right hand looked a lot different than my left hand. I definitely was not happy with my nails and I'm going to another nail salon to have them fixed. I wish I can give them 5 stars but the shape of my nails were all uneven. read more

BEST nail salon anywhere. I've been coming to see Henry (the salon owner) for 12 years and I'm excited to continue to come out to his new fantastic salon here in Studio City. The quality of the work is very high and my nails will stay beautiful and intact for 3 to 4 weeks easy. I live 30 minutes away but I won't go anywhere else. It's worth the travel every time. The service is very welcoming and kind, but most importantly they take the quality of their work very seriously. Henry, you have a customer for life read more

I found this place a few months ago as it is in my neighborhood and I was looking to find my new regular nail salon. I thought I had found it with this place but that turned out to not be the case. I would always rather support a small business than a chain but only if the business owner is kind and gratuitous, I haven't found this to be the vibe here. I have come here more or less every two weeks for the last few months, but this last time was my last. I've had my gel chip within days not once but twice. I got my nails done one week ago and they look like I've had them on for over two weeks. Just this last time, I had called and made an appointment, showed up on time only to find that all the techs were occupied and was made to wait. Another woman showed up after me as a walk in and inquired if she could be taken right away. They told her yes but then when she soon realized that she wasn't going to be seated right away, she suggested coming back and they proceeded to tell her they would see her in 10-15 minutes. She said, "10-15 minutes isn't now." The owner, I don't remember his name, told her that when you don't have an appointment, you have to wait. (Mind you, This may be true, but you don't talk to customers that way.) I considered pointing out that I HAD made an appointment and was still being made to wait but stayed out of it. The lady ultimately left, my nails were rushed and now I'm having to get my gel re-done a whole week later somewhere else. The gel is lifting and cracked because the ends were not sealed as they should have been. Convenient location or not, I won't be back. I'll take my regular business elsewhere as should you. read more

I found this nail salon by accident Saturday night and my experience was SO GOOD! After being turned away by nail garden at 7:00pm, my friend and I stumbled across Designer Nails I needed a fill and pedi. Henry and his wife were so sweet & accommodating !! They stayed opened over an hour to make sure we got taken care of. They had plenty of beautiful colors and Henry showed me a lot Of designs. He made my nails look natural and not overly thick! This is a family that works VERY HARD and it shows! They treat other people how they want to be treated and for that I will be back, and I'll bring my friends ! read more

Henry and his wife are the nicest people! I called for a last minute appointment and they were able to take me right away close to 7:30pm. I'm in love with my nails, I'll definitely be going back read more

I've been coming here for almost a year now (every 2 weeks) and I have never been disappointed! They are located in a small shopping center with free parking (always a plus considering they are located on Ventura Boulevard in the of Studio City). Katie is my GIRL and she does my gel manicure (I'm very picky with French tip) and she is AMAZING!!! She takes pride in her work and takes her time to make sure the lengths are the same and the French looks even on every nail. I get the regular pedicure and all the girls there are great, they all take their time to pamper me, I've never felt rushed. If you want something more fun and funky, then Henry is your MAN, his ability to draw, sculp, blend, etc. will blow your mind!! He can create/make anything you want, He really is a true artist!
