I found Purity Nail Salon on Apple Maps because I needed an affordable salon with good quality work and open availability. I called and was immediately accepted and paired with Janice. She was PHENOMENAL! She understood the assignment without me even going into details. I had let her know that I want hard gel but I like it really really thin and natural. She left me speechless (in the best way possible). She worked so quickly, stopped to check in with me if I'm okay and how I like the work. I'm so so so glad I found Purity Nail Salon. I will definitely be a regular here moving forward and look forward to my next visit. There is a parking downstairs but it's $5. There is street parking along Ventura Blvd, and some street parking as well, you just have to look. The salon was super tidy, clean, and organized. Love you guys! I booked an appointment here using ClassPass, which was a seamless experience. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and I sat in one of the comfy plushy chairs while I waited. I arrived early but they were running behind as two employees had called out. They apologized for the wait, which was fine, as it was just a few minutes after my scheduled appointment time and I wasn't in a rush. It also gave my feet some time to soak in the warm foot bath. The pedicure itself was fantastic. It was so relaxing and just what I needed and the foot and leg massage was deep enough to feel soothing on my achy body. They did a great job with getting the shape to look nice and the polish came out very even looking. I really liked their color choices and how they use swatches to make it easy to find a color. The service was kind and warm and they even brought me water. The ambiance was lovely and it was bright and colorful. They really make great use of the space. My daughter got a set of gel nails done for prom that were very nice. We went back to get a fill. I went to get a Matcha and while I was gone, they told her she needed an entire new set of nails. When I got back and saw they were giving her a full set of nails, I asked why and the technician said that the previous manicure wasn't done well and it would have been too hard to fill. So, the previous set, $90, was bad? Or they were taking advantage of my teenage daughter and upselling her to an unnecessary new set of nails. Either way, it's bad business. I've been going to Purity Nail Salon for years and have always loved it--especially Ken, who consistently does an incredible job. He's talented, kind, and truly cares about his clients. This review in no way reflects on him--he's the only reason I gave the new ownership more than one chance. Unfortunately, since the salon changed owners, it's gone downhill fast. I've been in twice in the past month, and each time Ken has clearly been double booked. I had to wait upwards of 20 minutes just to get an update on what was going on, all while sitting there with no acknowledgment. The salon itself now feels unkempt and chaotic. It's messy, looks dirty, and both times I visited, two kids--someone's sons, I assume--were at the front desk, barely looking up to greet anyone walking in. The overall vibe is unwelcoming and disorganized. Tonight was the last straw. A woman was on FaceTime at full volume the entire time I was there, and no one working at the salon said a word. It used to be peaceful, clean, with soft music and genuinely kind staff who made you feel taken care of. Sadly, that's no longer the case. Not happy with new owners. Purity used to be a peaceful place to relax and pamper yourself. No longer. The new owners added a TV that has awful reality shows with the volume up so the whole tiny salon can hear the stupid reality women screaming at each other. Also, I felt as though I was constantly being "sold." Had to say three times I didn't want an extra massage, she would not take no for answer - she kept trying to convince me until I firmly said, "No." Then, she gave me a glare before she walked away. Once recently, I looked down to see the chrome topper being put on my nails! Not only did I not request this, but she never asked - and I felt uncomfortable. I didn't have the time to remove it, did not want to get into it with the tech (who I found out later was the new owner), and my nails looked decent enough that I just kept it and then had to pay for it. Not cool. Additionally, waiting now for 30+ minutes for an appointment booked a week in advance is really annoying. Purity Nails is no longer the special nail spa I thought I had found. She gave me the longest leg/foot massage ever and didn't rush through it, which I really appreciated. It's not the least expensive nail salon.. but I promise you will leave feeling very pampered. Staff and owner have been friendly and good 2/3 appointments. Today I came in for nails for my birthday and wanting to spend extra for some pretty cat nails. I got a male worker that acted like he understood what I asked for but when I re explained what I wanted he laughed insisting he was only able to do it the way he showed. (Half shimmer half not. ) I have been getting cat eye and asking for the same line of shimmer just down the middle for years now and haven't had many people not able to pull it off. Would much rather say you can't do a design or ask for help understanding than someone freestyling simple cat eye and act as if I don't know what I'm talking about. He directed me of where to put my hand in between gel drying even after I said my arm was getting crammed from its position and was taking it out to the side only when dry. The only times he spoke to me were to laugh at me for "not listening" when I made sure my hand was out of the way not getting messed up like he'd ask but still comfier for my position. All that for them to still look messier than his first coat as if that's anything close to what I had asked. Don't try to charge $20 for work from someone obviously not wanting to listen or attempt designs with cat eye. Definitely enjoyed this place before but won't come back if they aren't trying to guide their techs on doing what is asked and being paid for. I had a WONDERFUL experience the first time I was here and had Janice do my gel X nails. My nails had never looked better. The second time I came here, however, was pretty awful. I don't remember the woman's name but she made me feel so stupid the entire time. She acted like my questions were such an inconvenience to her and just seemed annoyed with me from the second I walked in. For $75 for a fill, you would think she would be able to answer a couple questions for me and help me get a color I actually liked. I texted the customer service number I had for them after the appointment and they apologized for the service provided, and I would love to go back to Janice, but I'm not sure I would want to go back after such a bad experience with the other person. read more

I recommend Kayla as a nail tech, but I don't really recommend this salon. There were some scheduling issues that made our experience not so positive. About a week or two prior, I had booked an appointment for a friend and I over the phone. I had asked specifically for Jackie because the front desk attendant said that she would be available. I originally wanted to book with Ken because I had read reviews praising his nail art, but he was unfortunately busy. Two weeks later, my friend and I showed up 25 minutes early for the appointment, which is not at the fault of the establishment. We were just trying to beat LA traffic and make sure we were on time for the appointment. It wasn't busy though--maybe 3 customers were there before us. Counting the time that our appointment was actually supposed to start though, I had to wait an additional 36 minutes before anyone actually started on my nail design. The owner(?) did remove my previous nail art at the beginning though. Maybe they were just short-staffed because the owner's kids were also working the front desk. In that 36-minute time frame, I think I had cycled through 4 different people for the actual nail art. The owner, another lady, Ken, and finally Kayla who did stay to do my nails. No one told me that Jackie was out until I asked about my appointment with her. The owner told me that everyone there is skilled at nail design and it would all be the same. The owner briefly sat down, but then quickly left to tend to someone else's removal. The other lady also sat down and asked me what design I wanted but quickly left after another worker told her that she was supposed to do my friend's nails. Ken then asked me what I wanted but immediately left after his regular showed up. I thought this was bizarre because why would you sit down if you don't actually have time to do someone's nails? Finally, Kayla showed up and started on my nails. She was very meticulous with the preparation of the nails, and I love the end result of the nail design. The shape of the nails is also so much better than my usual salon. I really appreciated that she would give her opinion on things after giving me options. She was also super friendly and easy to talk to. I did feel bad though because Kayla's actual appointment came in the middle of my appointment and had to wait for her. Overall, if they could figure out the scheduling, I think this salon wouldn't be that bad, but I won't be back because of the wishy washy service and lack of communication. read more

I needed a desperate regular manicure and happened to be in this shopping center. I didn't know there was a nail salon here. Must be a new place. I grabbed a quick lunch at CPK and as I was going towards the elevator I stumbled at this nail salon and wanted to give them a try. I was greeted by a guy name Leo in the most serious, unfriendly, rude attitude that I almost wanted to walk out and go somewhere else. He was unprofessional, no smile, didn't acknowledge me, had no clue whatsoever about manicure and humanity skills. He needs to go back to school and get proper training how to work on nails. He did a lousy job and I constantly had to tell him how and what to do with my nails. Cut, filed SOOOO uneven that I had to stop and educate him and he still didn't listen with a sour blank stare on his face. Didn't even paint my nails right. So uneven and messy. Very disappointing when you run into people like this at a SPA when an exceptional service will be much appreciated. I MEAN IT'S A SPA, and would like to indulge, relax and be pampered. Thank God Lynn, the owner of the salon came to my rescue to correct the mess that Leo made. She painted my nails PERFECTLY and I felt good, satisfied, and comfortable with Lynn. She had a good demeanor and knew her work very well. I could tell. Not because she is the owner of the place, but that is the VIBE that I god from her. Everyone was very nice during my appointment. Literally the NEXT NIGHT the extensions and the dip color started falling off my nails. So far two have fallen off and of course both fell off after I left for my trip. So Leo was my manicurist and one of the lovely young women was the pedi/gel -curist. They seem to have done a lovely job but it make NO sense that a gel pedicure, which was the exact same type as my mani. Cost an additional $5. $40-45 is standard in LA these days so I'm hoping they will last the appropriate 3 weeks they are supposed to and not peel away. I'll come back and let you know. I got dazzle dry mani pedi so paid extra. My pedi lady was great. The mani girl not at all. She messed up my shape which is fine no big deal, but I pointed it out and she didn't fully fix it and I didn't realize till leaving, but her filing after base coat caused all sorts of bubbles and weird texture. It's already coming off. My cuticles are still awful too. I wish I would have paid for just pedicure, but I was too exhausted to deal at closing. read more

I've never posted a review before, but I feel it's important to share my experience today. I've been coming to purity nails for years. Always had an amazing experience. The new workers just don't have the same attention to detail, professionalism or quality of work. Perhaps it's because they don't own the salon. I was told the family still owns the place but hired all new staff because the main owner moved to another state. The place went from being spotless and well managed, to dirty, disorganized and inexperienced. My gel manicure was not only badly done but my nails were being filed pieces of my flesh came off and started to bleed. I've never had this happen anywhere before. What a shame. I hope the owners train their staff well as this business will close down if this becomes the norm. I will have to find a new place. read more

Honestly this review is so long over due. I moved to the LA area 2 years ago. My first year was spent trying salon after salon to find the place I could commit to. Every other salon I've been to have been very rough with my hands, I always left with sore or cut up fingers. Purity is definitely my go to salon for the last year. They're very gentle on your nails and make sure that you're comfortable during your whole visit. I've taken my friends there, I've also recommended a lot of coworkers that live nearby too. Everybody has thanked me for introducing them to such a great salon. Definitely will continue going here for as long as I live close enough to make the drive! I've never left with a set that I didn't like and didn't last over 3-4 weeks. From regular gel nails to acrylic, gelX and gel builder. The staff here have always done a phenomenal job whether it's a manicure or pedicure. Ken is my go to nail tech, he has been keeping my natural nails so long and in perfect condition for the last year and a half. You can't go wrong with any of the other staff either. Came across this nail salon on Yelp, this is my 2nd time here. First time, the experience was good and that is why I returned. I am a loyal client when it comes to my beauty services when I find someone or someplace that I like so it is unfortunate that I have to leave this review. Yesterday, I went in for a gel builder fill. Even though they had me waiting f 30 minutes after my scheduled appt I didn't mind, I eventually left 2 hours later just for a fill. Anyway, when I made it to the car it was pouring rain so my hand slipped on my handle and once I looked and the tip of ONE of my nails chipped (because it is gel builder so not as strong as a gel extension or acrylic. So I immediately called the owner (kevin) I told him I just left and this happened he said I can come in next morning (today) to get it fixed. I get there on time, no one was in there but just one young lady & I told her why I was there. She called I'm assuming the wife of the owner and kept talking to her for about 7 minutes looking at the appointments I'm assuming, I informed her I was just there evening before I spoke to kevin and he said I will be taken care of etc. I was on a time crunch I just needed the tip fixed! So she finally started working on my nail and owner comes by and is saying how they need to file it down or if I have time they will need to put a new extension, I just asked if they can simply add gel Builder on the tip. So once I'm done within 7 minutes or so I went to book my pedicure for the following week and the owner is charging me for my nail... $10! Unbelievable. I said that is truly unfortunate to charge a customer who was just there who is also a customer who would have been there every 2-3 weeks for $150-$200 services and they couldn't make the exception for the TIP of my nail! She said that since, "it was your fault" I had to pay. So obviously the $10 was more important than retaining a client. I am also in the beauty industry so I understand things happen and IF my clients were to mess up their service same day/night I would gladly take care of them asap, because that is how you retain clients, get 5 star reviews & referrals. As I'm reading other reviews, the popping off and chipped nails is common here and when clients return they charge $10 each nail to fix, not ok! If nails are popping off that is because they are not using enough primer on your nails & if gel builder is just chipping that's because it's not good quality. Beware. Obviously I won't be returning. Only thing to note is there's no way to tip on your card, bad for me because I hate cash and never have it lol. But there's a Wells Fargo not too far and you can ask to venmo.
