I am 2000% satisfied and glad I did. I've been back a few times now and I've left happy every time. I never really get anything fancy, but I like to try something new every time I get my nails done. I don't usually go for designs because other nail shops that I've been to seem to only be able to do boring flowers or things of that sort. Rebekah always has amazing designs on her nails and it has inspired me to do new and interesting things on mine. I also love that while there is a constant flow of customers, it's never been overly crowded like some shops tend to be. I called on Thursday morning and they said they had an appointment for half an hour later for a dip manicure and pedicure I arrived ten minutes before my appointment and they were very friendly, the owner speaks English very well. The salon was very clean though they have alot going on (selling candy, lots of brand marketing around, clearly trying to squeeze every penny they could out) My techican was very slow, over two and half hours for manicure and pedicure but he did a great job. Dip nails can be very thick if done incorrectly and he was great about thinning them out. Offered me water, and a stand for my phone. Do not go here! My friend posted a negative review of this place and I don't see her review on here anymore. You people must be deleting bad reviews to keep your ratings up! Unbelievable! I decided to give this place a third try. They don't except walk-ins, you have to make an appointment each time. That's not good business, first of all! Secondly, the lady that did my nails was on the phone, booking appointments and doing my nails at the same time which ended up in her cutting me! I had a deep cut and to this day still have a scar!! They are not friendly, the minute you walk in they just stare at you with serious faces. Very awkward! I got a pretty good pedicure here that felt nice and looked good! The main problem was how long it took, despite my having an appointment. They started 20 minutes late. I was considering switching to a different service that wouldn't take as long, but they assured me it would be 45 minutes. It took 55. So my "45 minute service" ended up taking an hour and 15. I've come in asking for service without an appointment and if they don't have time to fit me in, they're honest about it and don't make me wait. I tried out Designer Nails twice after my regular spot continued to raise their prices each visit. I'm very accustomed to how long basic polish, gel, and sns should last - along with the level of service many places provide. My first visit at Designer was okay, and they were cheap. Though, I'll detail my second experience. This is a family owned and operated business - so you'll either be serviced by one of a couple or one of their teenish sons. I was with one of the sons. I selected an upgraded pedicure with a hot stone massage... he went through the motions of putting on the scrub, lotion, and using the stones - but the entire thing was extremely quick... as soon as he would put a product on, he would wash it off. The massage time was almost non-existent (there was no wait to be rushing for, because this salon is appointment only). He barely used the scrubber, so my heels left still feeling rough. I thought he did a decent job on the pedicure shaping, buffing, and painting. Next, through my manicure he had awful, loud music blaring close enough for me to hear via his headphones. He was extremely sweaty and breathed heavily, so the experience was uncomfortable. He barely shaped my nails, buffed the top, skipped cutting my cuticles, and gave me about a 30 sec per arm massage. He did a decent job painting my nails. But, he was very careless with the top clear coat - he did not get the nail fully covered. I am very easy on my nails, and they were chipped within 2 days. A regular manicure usually lasts me 1 week. I'm on day 5, and they are driving me crazy. Designer does not have a large selection of colors, and they dilute their polishes to make the bottle last longer, which dulls the color. I will say that their saving grace is their pricing. I won't be returning. I would rather pay a premium at the salon down the road. Side note: they used to own a nail salon in San Marcos (which I visited during college and did not enjoy). Turns out that salon didn't work out, so they moved to Austin to reboot. read more

They were running a little late and offered me a complimentary paraffin dip for my hands, so now not only am I showing off my beautiful nails, but my hands are ultra soft too. I should have known better from the rude greeting I got. I was a walking so I wasn't gonna be surprised if they couldn't get me in, but she said 10 mins. I wanted SNS and color change on my toes. They begin working on my toes and in the middle of the process they say they forgot they had an appointment so they couldn't do my nails. Not a problem I said, I'll just do the color change on the toes. Just for simple color change - not SNS, not gel, no mini pedicure, just a simple color change they charged $17. I've been going to these place all around town for many years and I know the majority of decent places charge $10-$12. My fault for assuming this was a normal decent place and not asking for the price ahead of time, but I was shocked at the price. I guess they include their own tips in the prices. read more

Terrible. Went in with a group of four for an appointment scheduled for five fifteen. We were leaving to Europe and extremely excited. We were expecting four and a half star treatment based on reviews but left extremely disappointed. 1. Gel nail toenail polish lasted three days 2. Acrylic gel nails lasted five days and fell off 3. Two members had nails in the big toe cut causing pain and discomfort wearing shoes 4. Fourth appointment was bypassed and another party came in and was handled before him. Unfortunately for the service providers he was paying the bill. I would not recommend this place not even as a last resort. The only glimmer of hope was a fact that one of the attendants helped my handicapped sister. So I gave him a twenty dollar bill. Very disappointed read more

Designer nails is tucked away in a small business park/strip mall off Hwy 290. It's pretty easy to miss if you're not familiar with where you are. Be sure to look for the red & white sign on the 2nd story of the business complex. Despite it being so tucked away, this shop is excellent. My mom and I went in today to get our first shellac manicures and we're very happy we did. I had a buy one get one free offer I had bought on a internet deals website. Even though all of the nail techs were busy when we arrived, we were greeted by them and promptly paid attention to as soon as they were done with the other customers. They have the full range of CND Shellac manicure colors and their salon is ULTRA clean, smells fresh, very well decorated and spacious. The pedicure spa chairs looked comfy and relaxing. The shellac manicure was painless, the tech I had was very gentle and talked a bit with me. She used some very nice smelling lotion towards the end and gave me a nice arm and hand massage after my nails had dried. I noticed it was natural lotion with botanicals in it. My mom had Kim working on her nails and I think Kim must be the owner and/or manager because she was answering the phone. I'd asked the other nail tech who did my nails to put little hearts on the thumbs for Valentine's day but she told me she couldn't. Apparently, Kim had overheard me say that and at the end of my mom's manicure, she told me she would do it for me. She meticulously painted small little hearts with red sparkle paint in them for me. And she only charged me $5 on top of the manicure to do that which is pretty big considering I'd already gotten one of the manicures for free. To sum it up, you will not be let down when you try this nail salon. I am so pleased that I will make it my regular shop even though it's a little off the beaten path. I'm even so pleased that I will be bringing my wedding party back with me in a month before my wedding so we can all get our nails done there. Okay, I decided to try this place out because of the great reviews on yelp. I must say I don't get it. The place smells of chemicals just like all the others and are rough as well. Worst of all, making an appointment does not matter. I wanted shellac and had to get my prior coating removed. Even though I made an appointment for 5:00, I was not brought to a table until 5:15. Then once the acetone was placed on my fingers I was informed it would be 7 minutes. Well another 15 minutes went by so I decided to take the foil off myself and scrape the coating off with my own nails as I was a little concerned with the time they left acetone sitting on my fingers. Finally I was moved to another table to get my manicure. Other placed I have been to start their appointments on time and do not leave you sitting in acetone for 15 minutes. The UV lamp was dirty and the tech did not follow the standard guidelines for shellac intervals in the UV. Oh, and my middle finger was cut by the cuticle cutters. Awesome. I'm surprised to see the negative reviews, as my experience was quite good. I had a Groupon for a shellac manicure, called and told them so, and they said come right over. (this was a Monday about 10:30, so they weren't busy at all) I showed the Groupon when I arrived and I did not detect that I was being treated differently from anyone else. The tech (I wish I had her name) took her time and was very meticulous with the french tips, which can be tricky w/ shellac. She was not rushed at all and she gave a very nice arm and hand massage when finished w/ my nails. This place is a LOT cleaner than most nail salons I've visited, so I appreciated that. The Groupon is for 2 manicures and I'll definitely be going back for the 2nd and plan to continue to go there for pedis as well. I only gave 4 stars because the white tips were thicker than what I prefer. I asked her a few times to make them thinner, and she would wipe a little more off, but then I got tired of asking. But, the manicure is still very nice and I have not had problems w/ peeling. (And while I do feel bad for the girl who had a bad experience right before her engagement photos, I have to question the logic in choosing to try a new place for a manicure for such an important event. Designer Nails is now the only place I'll go to get my nails done because they're consistently better and better priced than other places I've been. I've had several weddings this spring and they've done my nails (solar) for each one. It's now three weeks since my last appointment and aside from the new nail growing in, these nails still look new! I've also brought both of my friends who were brides in to get their nails done just before their weddings and the staff has been really good about treating them specially before their big day! I have ingrown-toenail issues quite frequently and I always request Dao because she takes extra time and is very careful not to hurt me while she's removing it.
