The team that came out, Peanut, John, and Jeremiah, was absolutely incredible. They were thoughtful, kind, professional, and so quiet I barely knew they were here. They arrived on time, completed everything, and had the area cleaned up by 2:30 p.m. Based on Ronnie's quote and recommendation, they also did minor duct work to enlarge the supply ducts to the far end of the house. We heard and felt air coming out of three vents that we honestly had not felt in over 20 years of living here. Ronnie was the only person who mentioned that solution when he came out to quote us for a new system, and it made an immediate difference. While the install was happening, Mrs. Daniels, the owner, came by personally to collect payment and have us sign the contract. I am usually someone who prefers to do things online, but having her show up in person and put a face to the business was such a thoughtful touch. She even hugged me at the end of the transaction. Our AC stopped working but we were not urgently needing an AC replacement yet until my husband reminded me in the winter about how we needed to look into an AC replacement. We love our realtor so we contacted these guys (sometime in December of 2019) to look into a replacement. The owner was fabulous and was able to work with us on what we needed to get done. AND because we were planning on replacing our AC during the winter, it was great to get the order and service done. In fact, they came to check out what we needed to get done and then order the part and replaced our AC within 1-2 weeks. They were great and easy to work with. We had the AC stop working this past summer one of the hottest days during the weekend and we got someone come out here pretty quickly to replace the part and work with us. They did honor the service card that we received and was honestly done within 1 hour. Very fortunate for these guys and highly recommend them.

There was still a large amount of lint that was stuck apparently that I didn't know about. That was definitely a fire hazard and I'm so glad they came out and took pictures inside the vent. They take before and after pictures for you as well. They also did a video of before and after since I wasn't getting any airflow out of the vents before. I highly recommend them.

Mr King saved my Christmas Eve Day when every big company in the Richmond area could only promise they'd be out in 4 or 5 days. I woke up to a 53 degree house and the gas furnace was cutting out after 1 or 2 minutes. Even though he was on vacation and out of state at the time, he took ten minutes to listen to my symptoms and talk me through tracing down the pvc drain pipe to confirm that it had frozen through my crawl space during the 8 degree night before. I managed to access the drain pipe near the furnace and drain the backed up water and the furnace fired for an hour to bring the temperature in the house back up. Mr King was only concerned with getting my furnace working so my house would be livable, and so that I wouldn't have to pay a big company $200 for a weekend/emergency visit for something I could do myself. Highly recommended if you want an honest appraisal and someone who won't try to oversell you something. read more

Got assigned this contractor by American home shield for a failing AC system. They did come out…read morepretty quickly to check the system and determined there was a leak due to low pressure and their solution they gave to AHS was to use a leak stop while refilling the system . ( 24 year old system ) When to my surprise, I got an estimated out of pocket expense for this fix I did some research . The out of pocket was 570 but they were also charging AHS nearly 750 for additional items to bring the 24 year old unit up to current code. 250 to raise the condenser 3 inches off my existing concrete pad. 220 for refrigerant locking caps 250 for float switch. My 570 not covered was for a sight glass the manager of AF1 insisted was required by not Code but. " by manufacturer " but never told me which manufacturer and from my research is total BS. I called the VA state and local building code office to discuss the items related to code and they both said totally not required unless replacing the unit. VA Property maintenance code applied to this case NOT building code. Called AF1 to discuss and Gerald would not take my call, was too busy for that but emailed me at length several times saying he was right, they were wrong and he would be in touch with my state building code POC to "hold a class with them" direct quote . I doubt he did. If using this contractor, read the estimate very carefully and question things. I'm not sure they will be used by American home shield much more as I was told they were being looked into. Due to my research, AHS sent another contractor out who said the unit was done, AHS agreed to replace the entire condenser unit evap coil.. my out of pocket .. ZERO dollars.

If I have been paying each month, then they should still honor the two free inspections otherwise for the year, as it's like I'm being charged a much higher fee for the last inspection if I simply add up the monthly payments. They've been timely in the past and I think fair, and it looks like the other person who had come over instead of Joey prior to the last inspection had not replenished the Freon when he was supposed to (in case a top off was needed). That used to be part of the yearly inspection plan I had. As a result, Joey saw that Freon was low and I guess assumed there was a leak) and I had to pay nearly $300 to top off the Freon. Odd.
